There's only one thing i don't understand about this channel... How it's not more popular?! Seriously, i follow some of the biggest UA-camrs on the platform but this is by far my favorite channel.
I was introduced to your channel by being recommended your hour and 45 minute long video about the battle between Nintendo and sega. That was such a well made video and when I saw you had a 20 minute video about the virtual boy show up and related videos I had to watch. Great job! Your videos are so well made and well explained and well edited. I'm impressed
Please do more videos like this! History of things, also thank you for not having really loud music. Most of these videos the music is too loud and I can't understand the words
Imagine how much more successful and inexpensive it would’ve been for them to develop virtual reality as a Nintendo 64 add on. The graphical power was already in the console. They could’ve just produced a nice colorful display and called it good.
The VF may have failed by Nintendo standards but the concept was ahead of its time. One thing I've always respected Nintendo on is not being afraid to take risks. Notice with the Wii announcement years later their competitors laughed initially then got stomped and stole the same concept with motion controls. So you never know when it comes to an "out there" idea.
Nintendo should honor Gunpey Yokoy more and sell a gameboy wearing his name, he and the gameboy made Nintendo where they are now, the virtual boy faling is not his foult, it had more to do with bad desision making by the whole of Nintendo.
Thank you for such a wonderful vid. I think the VB was a great piece of tech for its time. A few quality of life tweaks would have made it much more successful. I use mine and really enjoy it.
I feel that it was such a wasted opportunity that Nintendo finally had a successful console that supported 3D images with the 3DS where they could have easily put out some of the old Virtual Boy games that so few people have had a chance to play. 3D is pretty much dead now and nobody really cares about it anymore so now that ship has sailed despite it being such a perfect fit to finally put some spotlight on these old games. Instead, they wasted time on those 3D NES conversions like Urban Champion and Excitebike
It's scary that the wii u had similar problems to the virtual boy. Overpriced gimmicky technology that developers had hard time developing for and ultimately abandoned. Battery eating machines that made it hard to enjoy.

I like the Virtual Boy. I've been happy with it and glad I was able to purchase it a little over a year ago.
