The concept is nice, but i would prefer if they were going to do this, they would sell the display as a separate piece. Essentially as a way to allow you to buy a larger or smaller display based on your application. This would be great for customization. After all, that would be the biggest benefit to something like this.
It is beyond comprehension how the main head unit makers can't produce HD screens on the new radios. Pioneer had the right idea here but need CP/AA wirelessly and I'm a buyer.
Seems like the modular design is more aimed for cars with those floating tablet designed dashboards like the newer Mazdas or 2020 Corolla or even some Mercedes. It's been a design trend lately. It's probably the only way you could upgrade the stereo in cars with that type of dashboard design

What ever happened to modular head units with the detachable screens? Seems Pioneer gave up on this right after they released this line of stereos. Only alternative I see are some Chinese brand "Joying". If you're aware of any others, please let me know.

I've asked you about mirroring before. I've got a 2330 nex. Never did it though. But I've been thinking I want to now . But something occurred to me- When you mirror the screen, you're going through USB right? So when you mirror, do you lose the ability to run AA? And what happens to the sound quality then ? Right now , my sound is perfect. Crystal clear. But I couldn't stand 30 seconds of my music sounding like crap no matter what was on my screen. So how's that play out ?

Whats the point of having a 8" if your always going to have the black menu options on the left. That reduced the screen size to 6" and jut dont look 16:9
What i would like to see from pioneer is a head unit that allows you to keep all of the vehicle factory features like heating steering wheel, heated and cooling seats. I have a jeep grand cherokee and losing those controls is why i still haven't upgraded my sound system.
This dash kit business needs to die. Especially if modular systems like this become more popular. Buyers have to wait for Metra to make a kit for their cars, dealers/ installers have to stock endless numbers of kits for double din and now for this larger size display. What a waste. Some company should just sell/ lease the installers a 3D printer or CNC cutter to make the dash kits along with the software that has a catalog of measurements from cars. Once the customer comes in just print or CNC the trim ring. The shop can up charge for custom paint or vinyl wrap on the trim ring if they want. Huge percentage of tint shops already have software with every vehicles window measurements and a computer cutter that they own or lease.

It's true Pioneer and Kenwood have the best sound quality but what about the other things we need from a unit. If android units improve their sound quality these big brands are in some real trouble...
I can care less about DVD, and AA wireless as it only works with google branded phones anyway, but CP wireless and HDMI should def have been included in this unit, especially for the price
@@Thecarcissist12 you can run Android auto on any Android phone, you may not get it from the play store but you can get it. I've had it on my last 3 phones and one of them was a $200 Huawei. You just have to look outside of Google's official offerings.
How do you connect Rear Seat Entertainment up? I see the video out plug, but no sound. This is replacing an 8200nex that is dying multiple deaths and they have almost the same connections, except there is no rear seat audio out on the DMH. Got any advice?

It’s a very nice radio. The only problem I have with it is you don’t get wireless Apple CarPlay like what the hell but how much money I have to spend to get the special dash kit, the maestro RR and the radio itself. It’s not worth it. If it had wireless CarPlay, then it might be OK for the price, but it doesn’t so it’s not not even close to being worth it. It’s just a waste of money.
A new one that's nice but anyway I'm using what I have in my garage I use my Tablet an old car stereo as input driver then goes to my Mosfet power amp job done.. but if I don't have anything I'll buy the Pioneer modular

This made me laugh and cringe. All of the cars in our family, until the late 90's, had buttons that slid the am/fm tuner to the pre-programmed station. Same old technology indeed. You have a TV screen in your car. SMH......

Unfortunately, as you can tell the newer Rav4's have a very specific entertainment system up front, completely unique and virtually impossible to replace without extension custom fabrication
why is the extension cable SOOO SHORT ??? that defeats the whole point of a modular system lol.. CAN EXTEND A WHOLE 1 foot away from the screen. Ive been extending double DIN displays forever now (Since 2011) and extensions work for multiple feet away from cars that dont have any room behind the oem screen design.

Unfortunately like all the rest of the videos on stereos, it is filmed in a dark studio. This provides the potential customer with absolutely NO reference on how it will look in the real world . Not everyone is a creature of the night, some of us actually venture out into the sunlight and this is really the true test of a screen, daylight readability. There is no doubt the MFG make a decent radio but can you actually see it because if not it's pretty useless. PLEASE get together with your other presenters and let us see something in daylight or at least a bright studio.
This is a $600+ unit... And the video mentioned like 5 things that was needed in order to FULLY integrate this into the vehicle. So... This is looking around ~$1000 not including installation. And the unit still has some short comings. No thanks. For this kind of price, this should have everything you ever need in the unit/package and then some. There are some units out there that are plug n play for half the price with more features and a lot better integration. I don't get why the presenter was so cheery for this product.

Cesar Rodriguez for me I got this unit, the iDatalink, wiring, and bezel for right around $650. Compared to $1000+ I would have spent for a carplay wireless unit with everything needed to install. I don’t think it’s a bad deal or unit at all.
This unit sucks, it freezes on Apple car play and Bluetooth then gives an error message. I've had it almost a year and it's nothing but a pain in the ass. I purchased it from a dealer and had it professionally installed so the installation was done correctly. It worked fine for about 3 months, now it shows it's playing on my phone and the screen but no sound comes out. Then all of a sudden it will start playing then quit and I get some error message on the screen. I have to turn it off and restart it for it to work. Then it works for a while and does the same thing. I hate this POS, Buy something else and save yourself some headaches.

chinese android auto makers have been doing this kind of stereo for years. Pioneer is about 5 years late. its garbage you can get the same thing for half the price .

Demetrious Woods fair enough but, if all you want is a 1080p resolution to watch DVDs there are plenty other options in double din. This unit is more focused on user interface with apple and android integrated in. I have this unit and I can say it’s awesome for the price tag. It all comes down to what you’re looking for in a headunit I guess.

The connection between the monitor and radio chassis is a very specific plug that is not universal. You can't swap the display out

Have a look at the Alpine website. They have now started to include CanBus integrated headunits with heating controls for OEM integration.

Demetrious Woods fair enough but, if all you want is a 1080p resolution to watch DVDs there are plenty other options in double din. This unit is more focused on user interface with apple and android integrated in. I have this unit and I can say it’s awesome for the price tag. It all comes down to what you’re looking for in a headunit I guess.
