Im 65 and I still love them today as much if not more now than i did before, they are timeless
I'm so thankful I grew up in the 70's with the best music ever. 🎶 ✌🏻
I grew up in the 60's and I was a teen in the early 70's validating me a lover of 70's music. But I heard people that grew up in the 70's have an extremely good perception of music than us. I dunno why, it's probably true.
💯
Same
It was good times then.
@@FlipArt57 well I grew up in a family of musicians. There were so many different styles and types, it'll never be like that again. It was an incredible time then!
One of Breads most beautiful songs. David's vocals are so smooth and when the harmonies combine it's perfection.
The guitars are so unbelievable, along with the other instruments it just a masterpiece. Great reaction Harri.
Thanks Harri and Neal for a wonderful song. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
You're welcome, Mary!
Its too beautiful for words!
The fantastic vocals of David Gates!!!
The only other person I could imagine singing this is possibly Gerry Beckley of America ❤ another faultless voice
Took my future wife to a concert in Columbus Ohio in 1972. We went to Bread concert instead of prom,
still a great choice in my opinion . I love Bread as much now as 50 years ago. Great pick pncombies. I think I already told you pal. Good reaction Harri, as usual 🔥🇨🇦🇺🇸🇬🇧🤴🙃😉👍
You did tell me, Daniel, and I appreciate it, brother!
One of the great things about this era was that even great pop bands like Bread, Three Dog Night, the Bee Gees (pre-Disco), all had outstanding backing musicians & many could also play as well. I took my girl to see them in high school because their songs always put her in the right mood. ✌️❤️🎶
I think this is one of Breads best songs although I do love Make it with you and Guitar Man just to mention a couple. Great selection Neal. ❤
Thank you, Cynthia...Guitar Man and Make It With You are timeless. I had Baby I'm-A Want You on my playlist for a while. Just held back a bit until Harri moved on from Bread and then I picked a good time to share it appears.
I could not wait to hear your reaction. I totally agree with you brother.
Harri I love to watch your reactions especially when you are really into the song. Bread is a group I can listen too all day. What a wonderful analysis and reaction Harri. Great request P.N
Thank you, D Rice!
If one listens to their albums, you would find several songs that would certainly rock. "Mother Freedom", "Dream Lady", "Down On My Knees", "Tecolote", "Don't Tell Me No", "Fancy Dancer", "Call On Me", "Blue Satin Pillow", "Lay Your Money Down", "Our Lady Of Sorrow". The softer songs got the airplay, but the albums are full of variety.
Love Mother Freedom and Down on my knees!!
David Gates wrote a nice song for the Murmaids in 1963 titled "popsicles,
icicles. A fantastic songwriter way back when. His bandmate James Griffin was a fantastic songwriter too, but always was overshadowed by David. RIP James.
That song is made in the Jimmy Webb glen Campbell sound! A real classic
Mother Freedom and Let Your Love Go were their uptempo hits.
Bread? I like the whole loaf of their songs.
Neal and Harri, you combined to make this one from Bread a joy to hear again after so long. Well done!
Thank you, Dave!
You're absolutely right. As soon as you said I can see Karen Carpenter singing this song I immediately said yes. I'm a fan of hers too.
I love Bread, it's ok if they aren't rockers. I'm not normally into ballads much but Bread is one the best! Back in the day I used to win a lot of albums and concert tickets from radio stations, and Bread's "Guitar Man" album was the first thing that I ever won, and I was a mere 15 at the time. My two faves are "If" and "Everything I Own"
I loved Bread growing up. I loved growing up in the 70s.
One of the most beautiful voices, goosebumps all over, hearing this. 💕💕🎶🎶
This is music that will always be Legendary. 70 s. Today's music ain't Got No Soul Groove on🌄🪴🛣️
This is one of my favourite bands and this song is divine. Thanks PN and Harri.💞
Mine, too, Diane...and I agree with you 100%! You're welcome, friend.
Mother Freedom is a good one for more action in a song.
For listening pleasure get Breads greatest hits, every song is great.
This song and the "Make it with you" are my favorite, the other songs Bread has are too Karaoke. That said, I love the group.
These guys should’ve renamed “Eagles-lite”. Love them so. So 70’s.
Bread is fantastic! David Gates voice!!
It’s something I always felt and wondered how Karen and David never did a duet together, their songs were interchangeable each singing the others songs.
Hi Harri ... This is another of my favorite songs. I'm so glad you got to hear this one and share it with us.
Music has such a great influence on humanity, therefore I've always felt the artificer has a responsibility to mold
Conscious minds closer to the heart.
I think it's also true that when you have a good melodic song that you can sing along with, it's therapeutic. Bread really delivers !
I think Bread were great, David Gates was an excellent songwriter and has a beautiful voice
I highly recommend you check out Toast, a cover band out of Utah, that does an amazing job playin all the Bread classics!
They are still actively touring.
Bread can rock too! Check out "Mother Freedom" or "Let your love go."
Super Ballad Masters!! It's Seriously An Out of Body Experience- Also Those Gritty Riffs Match Perfectly With David & Those Soaring Lyrics!
Bread were so good, I never realised at the time but really do now
Great reaction Harry.
David's father wrote a lot of those songs for him. I thought rock & roll as it were was never going to die, and the radio stations and record labels brought it upon themselves it was time for a change. They killed a beautiful thing. Black Sabbath, D. Purple
By the way sabbath, zeppelin, & Grand funk are the ones I fashioned myself
Speaking use of chords and progressions.
David Gates what a voice with a great band, he is the Male Karen Carpenter, crystal clear..spot on Harry..
Bread...the lifebread
"It took so long (for you ) to find them, baby..." 50 years, in fact, but better late than never. Me, I bought each album on release, including the first, way back in 1969. Only grouse here: you never mentioned the glorious pick bass.
He kind of reminds me of Karen, just a pure voice!
David Gates has always been a real favorite of mine. Nice to see it featured here.
Bread was one of the best at song rock! Love David's voice too. :Guitar Man" next.
Cathy...Harri has already reacted to "Guitar Man". Check it out!
They had some faster songs but the ones that always charted were their ballads. If you want to get a taste of what they were capable of besides ballads then listen to "Let Your Love Go"
Great reaction!!! Great song!!! Great looking jacket/pullover you've got on!!!
Harri, check out Mother Freedom, by Bread. It is their rocking song!🙂
They absolutely do have some legitimate rockers. Check out "Mother Freedom" and "Down on My Knees." Griffin wrote and sang the latter and plays a wicked electric guitar solo on the first track, written by Gates.
From led zeppelin to Bread the seventies were the best !
Gotta do all of them!!
I seriously doubt anything can get smoother than this.
too much beauty
Great song.
Harry you have great taste. David Gates was one of the most amazing singer - super great stuff!
Love your videos
Too short and sweet.
My favorite is IF
Harri you would like their song Guitar Man
D Rice...Harri has already reacted to "Guitar Man".
Thank you PN! I will look it up!!
@@dsusan17 You're welcome...enjoy, Neal
David Gates is one of the best singer/ songwriters of all time. I don't think Bread had any songs that went past mid-tempo. If I'm wrong, please correct Me. That was" Let your love go" which was sung by James Griffin.
'Fancy dancer.'
The Wrecking crew members made up Bread
You need a better intro then hello my besties
If you want to hear bread doing a rock and roll track try Mother Freedom! It's a great song by them.
I am so blessed to have all these bands around when I was a young man.
Nice classic choice, Neal. Harri should know that David Gates went to Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Leon Russell. They were in a band called The Accents. In fact, after they graduated, they worked together as session men in Los Angeles for a few years in the early '60s, Leon on piano and David on bass.
Thanks, John...we slow-danced to Bread at junior high and high school dances back in the day.
Yes….the talent that came out of Tulsa back in the day was truly amazing. Although he didn’t attend Will Rogers, J. J. Cale was in the mix as well. At one point, Eric Claptons entire band was from Tulsa.
They do actually have one rocking song called Mother Freedom. But mostly their songs are very mellow, and very good!
Definitely one of the best songs of the 70’s
Was a young child when Bread was putting out music; such beautiful, comforting songs. 55 now and love it even more. “Everything I Own” hits the nail on the head so hard that I can barely listen. ❤
Yes his dad taught him how to structure and arrange the song as a professional
Does. Record labels pay attention to that. And know
If they can expect more good music from you or not.
Harri.... I'm owed 1 song from sept., 2 from Oct and my cc was charged for November. I keep asking about the missed request but I have not had any response. Pls play them since I was charged for them. I will cancel my membership going forward.
Pls consider this documentation that my cc provider asked me to submit to you and them as backup
Just love that slight twang to his voice (Gates is from Oklahoma) and it comes across so smooth!
I've subscribed my friend. In college whenever I had a date to get the woman in the mood BREAD was always the music I'd put on! It never let me down. I've been writing music since then and David Gates was my biggest influence when I would write a love song! RIP JAMES - LARRY and MIKE! BTW Larry Knechtel was a member of the Wrecking Crew who were the studio musicians on so many albums of the 50's 60's and 70's! He played piano on BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER and his work on it almost got him a writing credit with Paul Simon which in my opinion should have happened! He did get a grammy though!
Great song Harri. Love me some Bread. Have you done their "Aubrey", or David Gates' solo effort "Goodbye Girl"? Both great songs.
Wow! Born in the early 60's and havin' glorious flashbacks...🎶
Harry your a great guy! I love ya buddy, I'm not gay haha. I just appreciate good people in the world👍
Been a while since you played music by YES. How about "Close to the Edge"
Funny you say that because I always say that David Gates is the male Karen Carpenter.
Thanks!
Randy!!! I am just seeing this..Thank you thank you thank you! ✌🏾🖤
I always love listening to and singing along with Bread!
The reason I loved Bread so much was that I felt he was singing from my point of view all the time. I could totally relate to the story from a mans perspective.
I love how you're just losing yourself in this song. Gorgeous I remember hearing it on the radio growing up in the 70s and 80s and its always stuck with me, definitely one of their best songs.
Love this song. Brings back memories of a Special Girl! Loved Her very much.
You need to react to Paul Anka Having my baby. Thanks
I think David Gates inspired Barry Gibb to try falsetto!
Nice take there brother.. Great stuff !
David Gates had a unique voice.
WOW!! I've never thought of David Gates in a duet with Karen Carpenter! That would have been NUCLEAR!
I know. It was a surprising comment because I don’t think of them as being in the same category but I can see what he means.
