    I have no problem selling anything damaged, defaced or compromised in any way. The key is full disclosure in the listing description. I explain in great detail the issue and will say something like "see close up picture #12 for slight chip on birds beak" . I do this for ceramic collectibles and the items still sell all day long. Don't forget to state " sold as is, see all pictures and scan and zoom in for complete details, no returns accepted ". No matter what you are selling the key is to offer full disclosure, cover your bum and you will be alright.

    Thank you for this video. I have a ton of cigarette and tea cards I receive for free in England. I had no idea how to list them. But I’ll give them another look some are full sets. This has been very helpful and encouraging!

    Funny enough I purchased a £1, 2005 furby with a missing foot, and listed it for £20 and sold on an offer for £43! And the lady who bought it was over the moon and back again! So I agree, sometimes it is worth listing damaged items as long as it's declared. Love your channel btw Julie and Paul in England

    As soon as I saw the title I agreed and know this is possible because I've done it! Happens to be my highest selling item to date which was a Zolnay lady figure that had been broken in half and glued back together. My mom purchased it for $1.00 at a garage sale and I sold for over $1,000 on ebay. This was back in 2007 or 08 but probably would have done as well or better today. I guess it was really rare.
    Crazy thing about it is that the doctor that shut his practice down to resell full time came into my moms shop where she had it for $25 and he told her it was Zolnay but passed because he didn't think it would bring much being that badly damaged. Not so because you can't always go by that! It's all about the rarity. If something is extremely rare collectors will make exceptions.
    Thanks for the upload! More great content!

    I was at an estate sale over the weekend and had several albums of family travel mementos containing quite a bit of interesting paper in my hands. The majority were glued onto the heavy black paper pages. How does being glued, or taped to the page effect the value? This was the main reason that I didn't purchase the albums. I got interested in historical paper from another of your videos and am just getting started in it.

    Another great video as always. I have quite a few business cards from a hotel from the WWII era that are not in great condition as well as other paperwork from one in particular (it doesn’t exist anymore). Been holding onto them for the last 20 years or so. Maybe it’s time to let them go.

    Okay, dumb question here... How does one identify what is a "trade card" and what is a "tobacco card". To the novice like me if I saw a card I would not know which is which for classification and listing purposes. Thanks for all the great information you provide in your videos.

    • @TheAuctionProfessor
      @TheAuctionProfessor  3 роки тому +1

      A tobacco card advertises tobacco. The other cards do not.

    Once again actionable information to earn some extra cash. IMHO, is full disclosure of the condition when offering these types of items.

    What price do you start auctions at & how do you decide? How long do you set them for, and how do you find the names of these things? Lol. Thank you.

    • @raiderboy007
      @raiderboy007 3 роки тому +1

      My 2 cents. Auctions are not good. Why ? Because sometimes and a lot of times you end up giving things away and losing valuable profit margin. I’d rather have something sell in 6 to 12 months at MY desired sell price than accept a lower price. Plus people these days want instant gratification. Buy it now with best offer added gives people the ability to immediately buy now and take care of their lust for an item. What buyer wants to wait 5 -7 days and play games against other bidders. I am anti auction on anything. eBay once thrived on the auctions I think that trend has gone away. I make huge margins getting the sell price that I want.
