GIANT Pit Bulls and happy family life might not traditionally go hand-in-hand, but one Mississippi mum is changing perceptions of the breed. Renee Castleman, 27, and her husband, Patrick, own Gatorhead Bullies - a breeding business specialising in XL Pit Bull Terriers and French Bulldogs. The company’s prestige puppies, which are bred for their athletic ability and protective instincts, sell for anything between $4,000 to $15,000. Renee, who runs the company from her 17-acre farm in rural Mississippi, quit her job as a sales manager for a computer company to run the business full time.

I see a woman that cares about her dogs and treats them the way they are supposed to be treated and in turn they love her unconditionally ❤️ and that's the way it's supposed to be they are loving loyal dogs not something to beat on neglect and fight those people make me so angry it's refreshing to see people who take care of there animals and make sure they go to the best homes thank God 🙏🙏🙏

These dogs are so sweet and beautiful. But I dont agree with separating the puppies from their mom at only 5-6 weeks. Too young, needs to be at least 8 weeks.

In Germany, it is illegal to separate the puppies from the mother before the eighth week end
well, she doesnt love the money, she just wants to train them early so they can be trained quicker for sale
You dont really train puppies at that age. They socialize with their mother and litter mates during that crucial 8 week period, not to mention they build up their immune systems properly. It is considered even better to wait to 10-12 weeks for some breeds. The weaning process doesn't usually end until 8 weeks. She even says the puppies, who are too young to be transported away from their mother as is, traveled from Kentucky. Then she can start SELLING them. No training mentioned. And you can bet she already has buyers lined up. Also these dogs are simply not worth what she charges for them because they are not show nor working dogs, and I can be almost guarantee you she doesn't do genetic health testing on the parents to ensure the people are getting the healthiest puppies with no unseen illness or diseases down the line. Otherwise, she would be rescuing them and not breeding them when dogs that look and behave just as good as hers get put down in shelters every day.
I separate mine at 5 6 weeks from the mom they dont leave property it's to give mom a break and start real food her nips cant take all them teeth
Personally Im not a fan of breeders there’s so many dogs that are pure breads in shelters some shelters specialise in certain breeds but I do love what u are doing giving pit bulls a good name

they breed them for good temperament, trainability, and size. with Pitbulls it's either a hit or miss and getting a "shelter dog" thats a pit you really don't know what you're getting AT ALL yes they can be the best dog in the world or they can be dangerous it all depends how they were bred. Yes a dogs temperament and all that does determine how they were bred you can't just raise a wolf and expect it not to be a wolf because you "raised" it right no such thing. these breeders are doing a good thing for this breed
Oriento 123 you are correct, there are many pure breeds in shelters but lets think deeper and look at the bigger picture, if all breeders stop doing what they do eventually there wouldn’t be any more pure breed dogs. There should always be a balance.

He is so gentle and beautiful. I love Pitts. I grew up with one. He chased a wild hog from our yard in order to protect my sister and me. I have 2 Pitts that think I'm granny. They are so thrilled when I go visit. They give me some good sugar when I get there. They are my grandchildren.

I totally agree my family always went to shelters n picked the ugliest dogs because they knew they’d nvr get adopted and let me tell I they definitely picked the ugliest ones 😂 but they were good dogs I think they’re dogs are beautiful but it’s sad they constantly breed them . Beautiful dogs, beautiful family. But, I must agree with so many other comments. There are far too many of this beautiful breed in shelters to be breeding. It kind of makes it about the money, and not the breed. Even if they’re treated very well, if these people truly love the breed, they will rescue, not breed. The more I think about this, and watch, the angrier I get.
KittyMom 419 if people stopped breeding (the good breeders) the breed as a whole would die off. You need people like Renee, that puts so much time and effort into each litter, making sure to produce healthy pups. Or like I said, the breed we know and love will cease to exist. That goes for ALL breeds. I’m all for adopting and rescuing, but if we’re being 100% honest, they’re not always the healthiest. Not saying all shelter dogs are “unhealthy mutts” because there are plenty of healthy beautiful babies waiting for a home, but you’re not going to see any of these dogs in the shelter. And if we’re being honest here, more people would rather go get a pup from a shelter, before going and spending 4k-15k on one dog.
Bugatti Bullies Kennel I actually follow and support a lab/retriever breeder. Most are search and rescue, therapy, etc., dogs with a purpose, and some are just beautiful family pets. I can certainly get on board with maintaining the genetics of a true breed, but $15K for any dog is beyond my comprehension when it comes to love of one’s animals. I also understand those that choose breeding as their profession need income. I’ve also seen other pit bull breeders that this is their only income, not charge that kind of money. It’s my understanding that her spouse works, so what is the need to charge $15K for the love of a beautiful dog? I admit I’m being judgemental, and I don’t like it. But, animals mean so much to me, and although I completely love and appreciate some breeders, and all rescuers, I just cannot get past the money issue. It feels like greed in my heart. I’m sorry, I can’t help what my heart feels, even though I respect and appreciate your input, and agree with it to a point.
I support rescuing dogs but there is a difference between backyard breeders and professional breeders. Backyard breeders don’t care about the health of the dogs or their offspring. A professional breeder actually cares about their dogs and their offspring and has better homing practices. A professional breeder makes sure that a buyer has the means to afford veterinary bills, food, etc.,

I happen to know these guys and while yes, it is a business, if it weren't for the money they wouldn't be able to afford what they're doing. That's the whole point is to be able to do something you love and make a good living while doing it. On top of that, there is already a pitbull rescue in our town and it's not a large enough area to support a second one.

Clearly they care about these dogs and have spent a lot of money to make sure the dogs are well treated and happy.

When you buy a dog from a legitimate breeder you are supporting the preservation of a breed. When you "rescue" from a shelter, you are supporting the illegitimate breeding programs that produce the dogs that end up there. When you give a shelter $500 dollars for a dog, ask yourself, how many dogs are going to die because of the lethal injections they are going to purchase with your money. 90% of dogs surrendered to PETA are put down... yet they have Billions of dollars in estate and liquid capital. PETA recently invested 100s of millions into Facebook to try and shut down breeders selling their dogs on that platform... where did the money come from and why is it in Zuckerbergs bank account? Why are they so worried about breeders when breeders pups dont end up in the pound? Why arent they investing 100s of millions into the awareness of illegitimate breeding

I live in Houston Texas and our shelters are full of Pitbulls ! Good looking pit bills as well clipped ears and all it’s so sad to see how people still breed them instead of recusing one from the shelter. 😭

Some people like myself like to get a dog from when they are little and not already fully grown for whatever reason they or myself might have and that should be perfectly okay and I really don't get why anybody or you has a problem with that! Adoption isn't for everyone! 😤

Over many years of having dogs as part of our family, here are some things we've learned. We visited the homes of the families whose dog was having puppies. (Not puppy mills.) The families gave us permission to call their dog's vet to ask about vet check ups, shots, worming, etc. We've had pure bred dogs with AKC papers to be registered and they were wonderful. But, each pure breed has it's own specific health problems. (Google this for yourself.) Our Vet told us that the healthiest dogs you can get, (usually), are dogs of mixed breeds. The reason why is that if both the mother and father dogs were Doberman Pinchers, for example, the puppies were more likely to inherit the health problems that Doberman's can have. Our Vet said that if the parents of a puppy are 2 different breeds, it's very unlikely because of the way genetics works that they would inherit 2 dominant genes for a specific health problem. Our Yorkie/Long Haired Chihuahua mix dogs are the healthiest dogs we've ever had! They are so sweet and loving and perfect for our family. They are both females, 7 years old. We got them at 12 weeks old. We keep them current on all their shots, heart worm prevention and vet checks. Dogs are wonderful!!

I currently have a French mastiff/pit mix and I have also had a handful of pitbulls throughout my life. IMO, ALL (well balanced/adjusted) dogs Have the potential to be loyal. It is NOT breed specific!

I see where you’re coming from and I understand your point. I think there has just been WAY too much breeding. Statistically speaking, purebreds tend to have more health problems and complications then mixed breeds.
I watched my ex-boyfriends dog have puppies and it was the most traumatic thing I have ever seen. The pain and confusion she went through broke my heart. These dogs are gorgeous but they are a commodity. Only rescues for me.

I say around 7 weeks is totally fine but never less than 6 wks because they need interact with their brothers/sisters and be weaned off their mothers tit.
NEVER take a puppy away from it's mother's until it's at least 8 weeks old. It's super vital for a puppy to be weaned off its mother &' get social skills with its siblings. By taking away a dog earlier than 8 weeks you're creating a dangerous dog.
Lol these dogs are NOT American pitbull terriers and CANNOT be found in shelters. Many years ago the APBT took differnt paths because they had way too much drive and problems for the average person. American Bullies are a branch of pitbull created for muscle size and looks kind of like a higher class version of the pitbull. Anyone that says you can find these dogs in a shelter needs a brain operation or needs to see an eye doctor 😂.

Bullies are not a higher class of pit bull. Lol bullies can’t even work and are useless. Bullies aren’t pit bulls at all. To create these bullies they mixed a ton of mastiff breeds in their linage. Its awesome to see all this comments on saving Pits. But the sad part is that most who comment save a rescue haven't done it themselves. I have a rescue and I have a pup. People need to see that this dogs are good. GOOOD for them for their video and business.
Pit bulls do not show their breed specific genetic behavioral traits until around two years of age. That sweet, happy puppy could grow up to become extremely protective, territorial, and skittish. Shelters frequently lie about this fact to unload their many, many pitbulls, many of which are surrendered to them around 1.5-2 years of age (this is not a coincidence).

Dogs that people have paid for then decided they didn't want. Google what I'm saying. Spay and neuter is best , and don't buy from breeders. Dogs at the pound are usually scared, and a mut ? Has less physical problems because they have not been interbreed

I lived two blocks away from pitts & parole back in New Orleans Louisiana I'm sure most of there dogs liked as quality bloodline , but still many great pitts in need of a nice home. I had a couple, plus pitts & parole supplied food and care most of the time. Hats off to that organization class act. 9th ward stand up ⚜️

There are people saying that there are many dogs in shelters being sort of a criticism of this video for what this family does..and while I can see where they are coming from..that is not a good argument. Whether or not there are dogs in shelters does not change the fact that breeders need to continue to do what they do to keep a certain breed going. Shelter dogs..dogs which many times have no information on their lineage, no papers or documentation of their confirmation, and not even concrete information of their exact breed/breeds should not be used to continue a certain breed. That is why dogs from shelters are suppose to be spayed and neutered. They are not suppose to be breeding dogs. Shelters are for rescuing dogs. Breeders are for continuing a certain breed. Only dogs that are from known and established lines should be bred to keep a breed going. I have seen lists of most common dog breeds in shelters. There are a lot of German Shepherds in shelters. There are a lot of Labs in shelters. There are a lot of Chihuahuas in shelters. Just because there are a high number of dogs of a certain breed, or type, in shelters does not mean that breeders should stop breeding. Also..a lot of the Pit Bulls in shelters are not all the same breed. There are a lot of breeds and mixed dogs of the Bully/Bulldog breed group that are called Pit Bull..so that helps to give the illusion that Pit Bulls are the "breed" far more likely to be in shelters.

5/6 weeks old is way to young to remove from mom!
Petra MCCafferty agreed, you should wait at least 10 weeks for them to wean off milk. At 5-6 weeks if you take them away from there mother that early they can have behavioral issues
5 weeks is def too young but 6 weeks is average as long they are weaned off their mom's milk they should be perfectly fine.

@@yoink6011 10 weeks is an aweful time to take them home as they are in a fear period... its scientifically a puppy that goes home at 5-6 weeks has a better reaction than 8+ weeks. It wont cause behavior issues you just have to step in and teach them bite inhabition, ect. Pups are fully weaned by 6 weeks most of the time before that.
