There are some 11-13 different types of laksa in Malaysia. Even the Singapore Laksa originated from the Nyonya Laksa of Malacca in Malaysia. Other laksa's include Sarawak Laksa, Johor Laksa, Kedah Laksa, Penang Laksa, Laksam, Sabah Laksa, Kuala Lumpur Curry Laksa and many more.

@@oxoelfoxo Also to make it clear, only about three or four versions of Laksa's are Chinese Malaysian dishes. The rest of Laksa's are Malay Malaysian dishes that has a long history in the Malay kingdoms from a long time ago. Laksa by nature should be spicy as it is a spicy gravy dish made to suit the tastes of the locals. There are also versions of Laksa in Singapore and Indonesia, apparently from the migration of people from the Malay kingdoms.

Food in Malaysia can be spicy which I like. The KFC is also quite different from Australia. It has spicy chicken, and chicken porridge (rice broth) too.

The Singapore Laksa is a version of the Malacca Nyonya Laksa from Malaysia. Therefore the similarities.

Just fyi, there's more than 10 varieties of Laksa from all around Malaysia, both Peninsular and Borneo side. It's like the ramen of Malaysia. And most of them are native/Malay-Malaysian dish, not necessarily Chinese-Malaysian, it's a common misconception, just letting people know out there. And Singapore Laksa is basically just Nyonya Curry Laksa. And Nyonya dishes are Chinese-Malay (Baba Nyonya people) fusion dish, not Chinese-Malaysian, which is an important distinction, as it's a fusion of Malay AND Chinese recipes and style of cooking, NOT dishes belonging to the ethnic-Chinese community in Malaysia, which they have their own types of food. Even Nasi Lemak and a lot of other dishes on the menu there are simply just Malay dishes, not necessarily Nyonya dishes.
