His voice was Like a fine wine! The older he got the better it got! Simply amazing that almost 40 years later he could blow his own original version away! Love and miss George Jones!
❤❤❤❤❤I love u George gone to soon I miss u I keep remembering that u r gone n no matter how much. Drinks and another I can't gmforget u Jones 😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
l agree with you, indeed George Jones is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style, he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and always heals the Soul…
I've been to 5 of his concerts, sat with him, the band, my brother who flew from Oregon to see him at the barn in Sanford FL, let me say he was just one of the boys, talked laughed, sang a few notes,an we all left. Never forget this ol boy. My hero, miss him much. Rest my friend.
Your so lucky!! I wish I could have seen him at least once!! Even if it was in the 2000s and he didn't sound as good as he once did I would still take it
Love ol Jones .. my step dad of 30 years turned me on to him at 5 years old I still jam George today and now my step dad is gone passed in May I know he's up there listening to the possum
l agree with you, indeed George Jones is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style, he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and always heals the Soul…
Greatest ever. Every one has a special gift. His was his voice. Not surr if its just his voice. Singing .emotion maybe. Best ever GEORGE. AT WHAT ever this is
Patricia Rookstool not all county music. im 20 years old. the country that came out in the past 20-30 years isn't good. anything from Georges era will NEVER be beaten!
I believe you would have to go back at least 25 years maybe to find good stuff except for a very very few singers but yes there is no real country or honky-tonk music anymore like George or vern or Waylon etc I'm 75 first time I heard the race is on I was hooked on george and country music Keith Whitley was another great one anyway I'm not ashamed to say I teared up the day george passed and when I watched his funeral still love his music and know most of his songs by heart he was the greatest no matter what anyone says
Anytime someone is singing with heart and soul, look into their eyes. Tammy, Patsy, Reba, Dolly, Loretta, Merle, and all the rest sang with heart, soul and feeling. After all, the eyes are the windows to the soul.
@@onemoretime101 facts say George Jones wrote and recorded it in 1957 . Went to #3 on the charts. Sorry maybe the Doc Williams recorded it but I have never heard of him. This 1996 version nearly 40 years after George originally recorded it is even better!
I believe Martina MacBride sang this at the 50th special. It really was well received. First time that I heard this song and I've heard thousands of his songs over 40 years. mosrite60
O my gosh George s voice i need to go out tonight so i almost did nt turn George s music on this afternoon to hard to put it down turn it off and come back later. That voice of his magic voice true magic
Dynamite song that I somehow had missed. I thought I had heard EVERY song pretty much that George ever recorded. I also missed another great REAL country Jones song, " I Sleep Just Like A Baby ". This one here I found I had to listen to it about twice to get the morose feel of it that makes it so remarkable. Who that knows REAL country don't like a real old heartbreak tune ?
George never got over Tammy. People say they sing country, a joke. George sang country. All good real country singers are gone or aging fast. Alan Jackson, country.
Now by God OLE GEORGE could make ya feel what hes feeling as he wears that song out. And every other song hes got. I give up on any country radio after the late 90s. It went to hell. No more Possum, the Hagg, or whoever. Yall know im talkin facts. I consider myself as a good ole boy raised all my 42 years in the bluegrass state. Kentucky. And theys alot of good ole boys I know that have cd's from early to maybe 1999. Or so. But now its all (but a few) , a bunch of long haired sissy boys with purple hair tryin to say there country. C-mon yall. Just look up Murder on Music Rowe by Alan Jackson and George Strait. That song says it all. #getcha some
In the earlier days Jones had tried his best to sound like Hank Williams. Then Hank himself told young Jones that when he started he tried to sound like Roy Acuff until he figured out they already had a Roy Acuff and so he sang like Hank Williams. Those words stuck with Jones, and then he started to sing like George Jones...even still, much Hank remained... so a early producer Jones worked with said we had Hank, we really need a George Jones! The rest is history! His vocals became beyond amazing
I think music reflects society. I want to go back. The music now well it reflects on on reflections diluted. Yet I love a lot of those carrying the flame
1st jones song i ever heard was the original cut of this , which sound kinda high and whiney , ah but how he evolved to be the GREATEST , love this tnx mr stanley

Real country music lovers will never hear anything like this in today's music. Sadly missed, fondly remembered.
Keep finding songs that I haven't heard....then play it 4000 till I've got all the words. No one quite like the possum. Rest in peace George.
l agree with you, indeed George Jones is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style, he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and always heals the Soul…
When you think you’ve heard all his greatest works of art of find 10 more. Thanks for posting this.
George Jones can put you in the mood, especially if you are sad. Love his voice!
Man, that is what country music is all about! There wasn’t a truck or tractor mentioned in that song! There was a lot of heart in it though!!
Hell dude, I bet if George sang about a truck it would have been a number one hit. George never recorded a bad song!
He already sang about a Corvette and it was a number one hit!

When Tammy was pregnant with Georgette I had the pleasure of visiting on their tour bus parked behind the Rainbow Ranch in Longwood Florida.

I can relate......
I remember hearing this song on the radio when I was a kid back in 96 real country
No one could make pain sound so sweet.
Beautiful remake of an oldie by possum himself.
Good song. First recorded by George in 1957. Thanks for sharing.
I still like this version better. The original was higher and more nasal sounding. This is George with that smooth voice that only comes with age
Also written by George
1st recording was by Doc Williams.
Get your facts straight bud !!
Ya, late 1970s jones voice got deeper and raspy, and amazing, early stuff was so high
@@onemoretime101 facts say George Jones wrote and recorded it in 1957 . Went to #3 on the charts. Sorry maybe the Doc Williams recorded it but I have never heard of him. This 1996 version nearly 40 years after George originally recorded it is even better!

I used to refer to Jones as a living legend.
OMG I love this song so much
A good song here. Tammy loved this man when she wrote this song..
Sorry kw, but this song was written by the possum himself back in 1956/57, long before he ever met Tammy. One of his best though.
Lol I posted this in the wrong song. had a little to much to drink that night.
One of a kind voice..We miss you Possum
Beautiful song.
A true master.
He sure was a great story teller!
he wrote my life miss you George R.I.P

Great song Thanks for posting it.& Thanks for the memories!
You will never hear that ol steel guitar on the radio again and that pains me
