- A British teenager who has gone missing during a holiday in Tenerife told a friend he had “cut his leg” on a cactus and had “no idea where he was” in a frantic last phone call.
Jay Slater, 19, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, was last heard from on Monday morning when he called his friend, Lucy Law, after attempting to walk back to his accommodation after missing a bus.
The walk from Rural de Teno park, his last known location, to the south of the Spanish island, would take around 11 hours on foot.
Search teams refocused their efforts on Thursday in the north of Tenerife, where Rural de Teno park is located, after discounting a potential lead in the south of the island.
Talk's Kevin O'Sullivan is joined by former chief constable of Northumbria Sue Sim, who says the conditions are "one of the most dangerous".

Victim Tom Hilton, who was 17 at the time of the attack, suffered a head injury so serious his skull was exposed, and also had wounds to his shoulders and legs. Apparently he had turned up at the location to meet a girl, but was instead chased by a group of boys he later described as “like a pack of gorillas.”
He ran through the woods and onto the road, but eventually Jay Slater and his buddies caught up to him, put him on the ground, and beat the sh1t out of him with their weapons.
The maddest part about it? All eight assailants got let off with Community Orders, even though they ‘laughed and joked’ in court in a way the judged described as ‘disrespectful’. Unbelievable!

why would he? he could of tried to scale one of the mountains for a view. He could of ended up in one of the many gullies in the area. People are throwing wild theories around, but i think he's likley been intoxicated still, maybe drugs too and thought he could walk it back. Walked too far into the mountains. I think he's lost to dehydration and heat exhaustion and probably just layed hidden in shade. It's been over 3 days now, in that heat without water, hungover, a comedown you'd be lucky if you made it over 2 days...
I once survived three days without any liquid. Then approx. a year later, I also survived a week with half a liter of liquid, this was a completely accidental survival, because I could have used it up on the first day, but I instinctively felt that the water should be saved for later. Both occurred in tropical conditions. The teenager, on the other hand, has been wanted for a long time, no one can last that long without liquid. Although, miracles have already happened, e.g. a few years ago, a skinny Russian man was found wounded and unconscious (perhaps from a bear) in a cave after more than a week. In this case, a kind of hibernation may occur, i.e. the body slows down completely. Grass, leaves, liquid stored in a cactus might help, if they are there at all. I don't think anyone would have found him, because the boy would have tried to give his family a sign of life as soon as possible.

Maybe this was a revenge attack on him for his machete attack in 2021 where he laughed at his victim in court ? There is no direct pathway from masca to los Cristianos where he was staying, unless he walked on the motorway. He would have been surrounded by fincas,villages around him.

The cynical side of me thinks this teenager might be thinking how to make a quick buck while staying abroad.
Who else did he ring on that 30 min walk. Why wasn't his phone charged at the address he stayed. Surely he had a coffee or drink for brekky. Why did he want to set out so early. Why did his friends not tell him how to press the stop for the bus.
Funny how a threatening snap chat sent to his mum uses the same photo he used and sent from outside the apartment of him on steps with a cigarette in his hand. So who managed to quickly screen shot that photo and who was with him when that was done.
So that photo was sent to his mum and family by him. And that same photo is used to threaten the mum. Mmh. Who had the presence of mind to screen shot it. Mmh.

You can call any emergency number whether 999, 911 for example, in any country. You will be automatically diverted to the Emergency response
My understanding from the newspaper, that friend is in UK and they've ben in contact. That's why she called 999. And she's got access to his bank account as well and says that there were no activity on the account. On the other hand, it's newspaper, they might got something wrong.
