Lots of cities in Europe already banned airbnb.

Sounds like an illegal way to take peoples property

You perhaps prefer the anarchy of the market?
I lost a home to a freeway once, "eminent domaine" they called it. Do you use freeways? Should I have been able to keep it and charge a toll?
Do you think that a wealthy man in Berlin or Dallas or Singapore should own hundreds of houses around the world?
Does might make right? Do you like the homeless people in you city? Do astronomical housing costs hurt the working class?

How are the locals can afford $1200 / month on HOA fees, b4 mortgage? And most condos only have on parking spot.. Just not seem to be practical to convert condos into long term housing in my opinion.

Where is the balance for this? Is it not the duty of “officials” to figure out the economics for a satisfactory solution since tourism is such a sizable income for this State? Who, if anybody, has an accurate statistic of the percentage of Hawaii’s economy based upon tourism? We all face these problems, but in order to find any solution, a good accurate summary of the problem is required, otherwise there will only be wild guesses on all sides. Thus, problems such as this one will always exist to a large degree as this particular one seems to be!
Where are the smart subjective locals, if there are any, who can provide suitable options to those who vote?

Im curious why everyone is jumping on thus after the fire. Its been an issue for decades. You cant enjoy a booming economy and also expect things to stay the same. The finger should be pointed at the government. Increased taxes and paying to run an STR is already being done. So what does the government do with that money. If the str complexes shut down you think Marriott or Hilton are gonna build the locals housing?🤔 Its just a sad situation
