Eddie Murphy made a bet with Richard Pryor that anyone could have a number 1 record and Eddie Murphy won the bet. This was a huge hit at the time!! And really it was Rick James the producing genius that made this song fun and danceable
The bet was for $100,000 and was that Eddie couldn't make a full album with only singing, no dancing. Pryor never paid up lol.
It didn't get to #1!!
@@michaelasay8587 That is right. It only made it to #2.
@@michaelasay8587 #3 Billboard Hot 100
this is one of my fav songs and i’m not ashamed to admit it. it goes HARD.
💯💯❤❤
I agree !
You should be.
Never be ashamed about loving certain music! This song is great!
Me too ❤
Yes Eddie did it all in the 80’s stand-up , television, movies and music. This is why the man has 10 children 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣😂
Not sure why some are surprised by Eddie's Strong vocal performance . He literally plays donkey in Shrek. He sings constantly whilst playing him. He's a fantastic performer. Comdiean,Actor & Singer.👌🏻😍
😂😂😂😂😂😂 Shrek was 20 years after this song was released. You acting like they were out at the same time.
Bro. He was too old for shrek. He was born in 1980
@@mumbles215 ??
Watching BPs face go from Confused to impressed and back to confused in real time. Lmbo!!! "Why is this kind of fire?" This song is a BOP!!!! Such a good song. 😂❤❤❤❤😂😂
Yea,,, you’re right! lowkey this is a Bop! 🤣
@@BlackPegasusRaps that was and is so much fun to see. I love it when you get surprised.
I like hearing all these new words today bop, slap
As a generation Xerox lol😊
This was hott and a joke at the same time. Everyone thought the song was gonna bomb. It was a party hit! 😊
I used to laugh at Eddie in this video. Now I laugh at Rick James 😂 thanks to Chappelle and Charlie Murphy
No one was laughing when it hit no.2 on the charts, lol
@@JamesBond-ib9tq The only laughter was after singing along to the whole song and having a blast doing so. I always loved this song.
I love this song! It is still in my rotation to this day!!
@@jambrunelda
My condolences. 🤪
I remember when this came out and remember thinking that it was pretty darn good for Eddie Murphy singing!!🧐😳. I remember all of the words too!!❤❤❤
Yes it's Rick James. Banger
This was a trend in the 80s. Several big TV/Movie stars recorded pop singles.
Don Johnson
Bruce Willis
Patrick Swayze
David Hasselhoff
etc.
It was a crazy time.
Ralph Macchio? I did not know that one. I’ll have to look that up. Thanks
@@lorigravelin2081 Oops. Apparently that was a combination of confusion, misinformation and a brain fart on my part. There doesn't seem to be a Ralph Macchio song.
I have the Don Johnson song on 45 still. I wish I had gotten Eddie’s song because I love it.
Frank Stallone I think is still out there making music.
Ronald Reagan with his presidential rap😂
You should hear Patrick Swayze sing...🔥🔥🔥
"She's Like the Wind" sigh
@@racing2cat I was never a fan of that or Dirty Dancing.
What 😮 that’s a classic soft rock ballad
@@laurabailey1054 I hated Dirty Dancing except for that 80's duet song. I was a huge fan of *Point Break* and saw it in the theater 4 times.
I LOVE this song!!! Around where I’m at everyone wanted to hate on it. Like Nickleback. But it’s still on my playlist to this day!! 😂
Eddie can definitely sing. He won the Golden Globe for his role in "Dream Girls," where he sang a beautiful song.
oh yeah that was an awesome number
He deserved an Oscar for that role.
This song was played heavily on MTV and the radio. At first, it was almost like a joke but I remember it being a hit and also played in the clubs. I haven't heard it in years, so it was nice you reacted to it. Great job!
Mr. BP, welcome to our world. Best decade of music ever written, performed, and produced!
Eddie is a man of many voices, improv, and talents.❤
Thoroughly enjoyed your reactions to this specific song by Eddie
This explains how Charlie Murphy's Rick James story happened so much. Eddie also did a reggae song called Red Light with Snoop.
Great song!!
Never heard it, I'll have to look it up.
Wow! Found it, had no idea! 7mil views
Yes, this was a real hit when it played on the radio. I cranked it up, especially when I was driving. Born 1959 and had the privilege of a lot of good music. This is one of my favorite songs ❤
Yeah a lot of actor's in the 80's also tried their hand in singing! they are all hilarious but became big hits! like you should also check out Don Johnson "Heartbeat", Bruce Willis "Respect Yourself" And Jack Wagner "All I Need" And Patrick Swayze "She's Like the Wind"
You can add Rick Springfield to the list, although BP has already reacted to him.
@@corsa180Except Rick Springfield was actually a singer first (Australia) before going into acting.
Going back to the 70's with David Soul's "Don't Give Up On Us".... We need a mixtape for one-hit actor songs.
@@gnpj1909 John Travolta did some singing in the 70's as well, right?
Love Jack Wagner
Bruce Willis also had a song in the 80's. It's a cover, "Respect Yourself".
Bruce also does devil woman live , check out Eddie Murphy red light featuring Snoop Dogg
Let's all try and forget Don Johnson's "Heartbreak".
Bruce also did a cover of "Under The Boardwalk".
Bruce had an album called "The Return of Bruno" with a band called Bruno and the Heaters.
Seagrams golden wine coolers commercial.
Murphy has released three studio albums, including How Could It Be (1985), So Happy (1989), and Love's Alright (1993).
I remember this song was popular on radio, I was just a little kid back then and it wasn't until recent times that this video popped out as a suggestion and I remembered it and till now I can appreciate that Eddie really can sing. He was from the times when artists were complete artists doing a lot of different things. Not like today that many popular singers don't even sing. Crazy.
RICK JAMES - Give It To Me Baby ,, Mary Jane ,, Fire It Up ,, Ebony Eyes feat. Smokey Robinson ,, When Love Has Gone w/Guitar Solo + Saxophone Grooves ,, 70's & 80's R&B / SOUL FUNK , Mega Jams 🎸🎹 🎷 Every Song is AMAZING and FANTASTIC this is Rick James at his very Best and most creative songs of all time. Another artist I highly recommend is FRANKIE SMITH - " The Double Dutch Bus " from Early 1980's Funkiest New Jams. I believe it came out around the time Super Freak came out, this Bass Line is Insane!! Vocals by Frankie is FIRE 🔥🎶 Great Music w/ Super Cool Intros
Total bop! Thanks for the memories of my youth. 😂❤ Great reaction.
His Raw stand up was always one of my favs
I watched Raw the night before my oldest son was born at the drivein in Memphis.
@tinalambert8276 Damn small world. I grew up in Mem. The Summer Ave Drive In correct?
@paindilla1834 yes December 29th 1987
Most of Eddie Murphy's movies feature him singing at some level.
The church event in Coming to America and Donky singing in Shrek are two examples.
Dream Girls was his best singing role. He won a Golden Globe.
😂😂you trip me out😂😂. You're 2 yrs younger than one of my sisters & 2 yrs older than the other. They know this song. It was huge. I gotta know your story. For being in the hip hop field. It's a pleasant surprise everytime 😊 you learn more about various artists and genres. We grew up in a remarkable, historical era. It could never be duplicated.
Brings back memories from the 1980s, my teen years! ❤
Facts!
I love watching reacts to this , when it actually hits that this is a whole bop! The '80s were *so great!*
Eddie Murphy's "Goonie goo goo" bit with his aunt as a bigfoot is still one of the funnies things I've ever heard. Don't bring a BIgfoot into my house , Gus.. with my children!
"She scares the children, Gus!" Hahahaha!
We all knew Eddie could sing but never expected a song with him singing lol! It's one of those "Safe" songs. Very radio friendly, easy to like.
As a solo artist, Murphy had two hit singles, "Party All the Time" (produced by Rick James) and "Put Your Mouth on Me", during the latter half of the 1980s.
This was a huge hit back in the day.
Danced many times in the clubs to this one. Loved Rick James too.
This was released around the time Beverly Hills Cop came out
BP reacted to *EW&F* - _Let's Groove_ which was a song from my roller skating days. *Rick James* - _Super Freak_ was played every skating session and got everyone on the rink.
At the end Eddie is just doing his Buckwheat Oh-ta from Saturday Night Live. Back then it didn't mean what people have turned it into nowadays.
Exactly. 9:28 There's some great skits of Murphy playing Buckwheat on SNL which BP you might want to checkout on your other channel0's.y
me in my backyard taking the german shepherd out: "My pup wants to potty all the time, potty all the time..." LOL
I did that too with my dogs!
Same here, "my dog wants to potty all the time" didn't think anyone else did that!
This has been one of my favorite reactions of yours. You looked confused, intrigued and happy at the same time lol. This was a fun song. Loved it then and still do. Btw, i was 10 when this came out and i remember it playing a lot on MTV. (Back when it actually played videos)
He also had a song with MJ "Whatzupwitu", not to mention appearing in a music video of "Remember the Time"
What's really crazy is that all these years later it STILL gets airplay on the station that plays in the convenience store I work at. It plays eighties and nineties music mostly. Unfortunately it was a thing back then for tv/movie stars to release a song.
Eddie's impressions were always spot on throughout SNL and his standup. It's a real short trip from doing an impression of MJ and Elvis to singing with Rick James right there to sample/collab/bounce off.
Eddie did a reggae song 10-12 years ago with Snoop “Lion” called “Red Light”. Just like this one, it’s impressively surprising how good it is.
I used to love this song! I was a child back then, but I was so impressed at his skills. I always love to hear it.❤
I laughed when this song and Don Johnson’s Looking for a Heart Beat came out, but even now I know all the words. ❤🤦🏻♀️🤷♀️
This song went to #3 on Billboard 's Top 100. He had another Top 40 (Put Your Mouth On Me) and other singles released, including a song with... MJ.
Now, you should listen to:
Bruce Willis - Respect Yourself
Don Johnson - Heartbeat
Patrick Swayze - She's Like the Wind
David Soul - Don't Give Up On Us
All this songs by these actors were Top 5 hits.
❤😜😘🥰THANK 💓 YOU!!! GREAT REACTION 👍 GREAT! SONG!!!!!!!
He idolized Elvis Presley, there are plenty of videos and recordings of him performing songs and doing his iconic dance moves also. Some are on The Arsenal Hall Show. Love it.
Elvis was the King and shook a room bigger than old blue eyes when he walked in.
Loved this song 🎵 I still do...Great reaction 😊💖
Radio definitely had this in heavy rotation. My older brother couldn't stand it because he said Eddie Murphy sounded like he was singing, potty instead of party. As in, "My girl wants to potty all the time..."
And.....before auto tune. That is pure Eddie
That's not saying a whole lot LOL
Eddie did a lot of singing during his role in Dream Girls. He plays a singer and actually sings and performs as Jimmy “Thunder” Early. You should check it out..
He told Richard Pryor that he was going to do an album with Rick James and Pryor had bet $100,00.00 that he couldn't do a whole album with no jokes on it. And then in 1985, he did the Honeymooners Rap with SNL alum, Joe Piscopo where he did rap.
Everytime I hear this it takes me back to 195 I was in Redstone Arsenal Huntsville AL doing my Army training and my roommate Big Stew would always say, "your boys on" RIP Big Stew,.
Eddie Murphy's Uncle Ray is in the video too. He was always cracking Eddie up and made several talk show appearances with Eddie over the years. He looked like an older version of Eddie
Lol Eddie and Rick! Yeap them two are hilarious 😂
A favorite of mine from what back. So cool to see you reacting to it and loving it.
Yup this was hit and now my 80's guilty pleasure 🙂
Same 😂
Party All the Time went to # 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in October 1985. He had one other hit "Put Your Mouth On Me" which I don't even remember... that went to #27 in July 1989.
I didn't know he sang this.. l loved this..❤
ThIis reached #2 on Billboard. We loved it then and now! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Unironically this is one of my favorite songs ever. If I'm ever feeling a little down, I'll put this song on and by the end I feel better. It's that good.
His LIVE Standup album was hysterical! “Now that’s a fire!” IYKYK
One of my faves!!!! Love me some Rick James too ❤️
Love this song. Been waiting for this reaction from ya.
This was when Movie Stars thought they were also singers, what an era the 80s were 😉💯🫤
I love this song!! Your face after he hit those notes….lol
This song was done due to a bet that Eddie Murphy made with Rick James, that he could have a #1 song, Eddie won. Sadly he was a one hit wonder. But please do react to some Rick James songs, crazy man but he was very talented and had some really great hits. His songs always filled the dance floors at the clubs and his music videos were something else, also made us dance and laugh at once.
This confusing post here .....is listed posted about an hour ago but some of the comments were posted 3 weeks ago🙃🤨 not sure how that happened . Anyway.... I enjoyed your reactions and comments for Party All the Time . The question to is Rick James wearing a wig? I am pretty sure he usually wore his hair like that . Every Rick James video I have ever seen his hair is shoulder length or longer and sometimes the color is highlighted .
Eddie should have made some albums but his comedic talent and timing took on a life of their own . I still look forward to watching you in your channel Pegasus vs. The World reacting and commenting to Eddie Murphy on stage in his HBO~ RAW special or any of his on stage stand up performances . Eddie is gifted and I am here for it .
Thank you for your channel and all you and your family add here . ✌
Another good song to hear Eddie singing is called How Could it Be? He also sings in the Movie Dreamgirls, showing decades later he can still sing it and bring it.
I have so many memories of listening to this in the car with my mom when I was a kid. She loved this song!!
YES, this was a hit in the day! You just heard it. How could it NOT be???
I don't understand people! Just because somebody has one talent or characteristic going for them, SO MANY people think that they can't have another! COMPLETELY UNTRUE! EVERYBODY is MULTI-TALENTED! Most people just haven't found out about, noticed or focused in on some of their personal skills & talents & only pursue one aspect of their talents - which is just letting your WHOLE BEING down. Get to know yourself, try different things & DISCOVER what you are good at in MANY ways. Don't limit yourself (or anybody else) & put anybody in a box. Most common one - oh, she's pretty so she can't have a brain, but there are so many more ie. Eddie Murphy can ALSO SING? MOST people who are artistically talented in one way, are NORMALLY gifted in a FEW artistic ways at the same time - whether playing an instrument (or multiple), singing, painting, creating great cooking recipes, wood or metal working, pottery, clothes, home, &/or garden design, dance etc. They are just clumped talents - which ALSO does NOT mean that they don't have OTHER skills OUTSIDE of the arts too. Maybe they are also good with languages or math or creating consensus among people or public speaking or organisation or good with animals etc. Maybe all of you have many talents you don't know about yet & need to discover about yourself & FOR yourself.
Don't limit yourself & what you can do - or anybody else. This is a message for EVERYONE.
(I am NOT saying that this is what you are fully doing with Eddie Murphy. Being surprised is a MILD end of the limitation, but as long as it isn't an idea that it would be IMPOSSIBLE! & therefore don't give a person a chance to show you what they CAN do.)
There wasn't a house party in the 80's where this song wasn't blasted
Watch him in Dreamgirls, my fave song he does on there you don’t even get to see him sing the whole thing. It’s a part where he’s trying something new
I remember when this came out. This is a really good song. This was played in clubs.
It's ABSOLUTELY fire!! I listen to it on the regular, as everyone should.
Love Eddie Murphy❤️ always have he’s so talented, so damn funny, gorgeous and has the best laugh ever!
It’s a banger. Permanently on my 80s playlist. 🙌🏽
No fn way this is this song... I’m shook. Yo this a bop!! I’ve heard remakes or something of this. But gaht damn. Hell yeah!
Some of the best SNL skits were Eddie doing Little Richard Simmons or Buckwheat Sings The Hits. We knew he could sing before that but this was his first foray into actually making a single.
Awesome. BP does read his comments. I have been suggesting this for some time now on related videos. I knew he would like it. This was on my off-the-radio mix tape from Oct-Dec 1984 and is now a playlist on my channel.
Yes sir!! That is Mr. Rick James himself!! So sad that Rick is no longer with us, he was too talented!
And I can't believe it's 40 yrs since the song came out, that's crazy!! I was 15 yrs old!!! Oh, I feel old...lol...
The Rain by Oran Juice Jones would be a really fun reaction!!!
🥳🥳🥳 He has a couple other songs on UA-cam. "Oh, Jah Jah" (a reggae feel) and "Red Light" featuring Snoop Lion (also reggae feel).
I love this song!!! I remember when it came out. I miss Rick James RIP
Loved, Loved this song. 🥰 I used to sing it to my BF at that time as I was the girl who wanted to "party all the time"😂😂
I loved this sing when it came out. It was everywhere.
His debut solo album received gold record status. Eddie also sang a song called 'Boogie in the Butt'.
you should check out the actor Mark Wahlbergs song from 1990 GOOD VIBRATIONS, Wahlberg began recording with dancers/rappers Scott Ross[Scottie Gee],Hector Barros [Hector the Booty Inspector],Anthony Thomas [Ashley Ace],and Terry Yancey [DJ-T] as Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch
Love this song. 😂❤
This song was huge in Canada too. Went to #3. Love it.
Yep. I love this by Rick n eddie😊 but yes, The Signs😮😢
If you listen to his Stand up you will hear how well he impersonates singers
Eddie has an incredible singing talent. I think it was in his 'Raw' stand-up where he does phenomenal Elvis and Michael Jackson singing impersonations
Its honestly a banger and I still sing this till today.
I love this song!! He should have made more!
Everytime I hear the spoken callback "diamonds on your fingers" I giggle like a little kid.
This song has always been both awesome and hilarious.
Wow, he can SING! How cool is this!! 💜
Pegasus you just made my day !!! 👍❤️😎
It's 8 am and I am boppin! Heck yeah it's Still ✨🔥🔥🔥!
Eddie could do great musical impressions on SNL too! Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and more. Spot on too!
I love this song 🔥🔥
I love his reaction to this!!!
