    Hi,
    great quality pictures. I, too, have a 2009 vn900 custom. I can't stay off it. Such a brilliant ride. It's the first time I ever enjoyed cleaning a bike, it looks so shiny! Very comfortable. Handles well. Not much in terms of top speed but that's not what these bikes are about. It gets lots of appreciating looks from passers by.
    Only trouble I have found is that it's difficult to find a suitable area of the frame to loop my chain around to lock it to a ground anchor.

    Hi! Congratulations with your moped arriving soon. Be sure to relly enjoy your firste bike. I had wo bikes before turning 18, one 50ccm Tempo Sprint (nrowegian) and one Vespa Sprint 125ccm. Then I got me a car and didn't get a big bike until my 50. birthday. Your first bike will always be the greatest cause you'll experience the freedom of riding for the first time.

      Yes, it's a nice sound on the Vulcan 900. It's nothing like a good cruiser sound.

    @Coleccionista80s Thanks, Really loved riding the Vulcan. I owned a Kawasaki Vulcan 750 a few years ago and I like the Vulcan feel. The 900 is bit heavier and quite long, so it needs a bit of extra handling in sharp turns. Perfect as a cruiser. I now own a Honda 1100 Shadow which is quite similar. Video from my Honda bike coming soon. Made a 4 camera shooting yesterday in the Norwegian mountain roads.

    Thanks again for the reply. I understand that this bike is not meant for speeding, just for cruising. If it can accelratate good until 120-130 that seems enough. The wind is probably too strong over that anyway.

    Great Video. I recently bought a Gopro camera for my V-Star. I think it's great that you have so many. I never thought about mounting so many of them around the bike to get better angles. I usually just move it to a different spot.
    Thanks again for the ride.

    I'm not a big fan of sport bikes, but I will give them a shot when I get my license.
    Florida's roads are mostly flat, and well developed, so there aren't many quick twists or turns around my area, and there is a lack of uphill/downhill roads. Thanks for the replies

    You won't get any explosive acceleration from this cruiser, but it's quite strong enough for most users. My other video on this bike (6 cameras) was made on a 2 weeks old bike and it felt a bit slower as you mention, and the sound was less pronounced. After 1000km (2000km total) I felt the bike changed for the better both in speed and sound. It's also a fact, as you state, that most of us are more careful with a new bike.

    Hey! If you prefer the harley sound you might be dissapointed with the Kawasaki. This bike sounds better than my Honda Shadow, and has quite a deep sound that can be loud when accelerating, but he Harley sound is deeper and louder. The new harley models with original pipes are more quiet than older ones, at least in Europe, due to regulations.

    Hi! Thanks for nice compliment! The average speed is probably around 50km/h, some really slow curves combined with a few long stretch, so the speed is between 30 and 100 km/h. Ducati is quite rare in my country, but it is well known for its superbikes. Would be interesting to see your choice. I have published another video with the vn900 filmed with 6 cameras, in case you haven't seen it. And my brand new video with SUZUKI V-Strom 650.

    Hi, I feel most comfortable up to 75-80mph, but you have enough power to go faster and to overtake. This is the case for cruisers in general because of the wind. I had a Honda 1100 Shadow for 3 years and this had more power for the highway and a more suitable gear ratio for going 85-95mph. For normal use I would prefer the Kawasaki 900, which is easy to handle and also has a better sound.

    @kubanitos, The Vulcan 900 is a mid-sized cruiser, not a muscle bike, (and not a chopper). Personally, I'm at a loss as to why anyone would want a "superbike" unless you're going to take it on a track.

    @kkaabboooomm Hi, Thank you for your interest. I plan to rent Kawasaki 900 next time in Gran Canari also, I tried a BMW 650gs but I felt it too small and lightweigt and I missed the sound and tourque. I have a Honda 1100 Shadow home in Norway and its a bit like the 900 Vulcan, classic! Did a video from a trip in the norwegian mountains 2 weeks ago, will publish it on my channel next week.

  • @VIDEOregi
    @VIDEOregi  12 років тому

    Hi, Thanks! Degradation due to compression is present even in GoPro original. This is hardly noticable however. But when you edit and compress the video for UA-cam you get a lot more of it. To reduce this problem I prefer to record in 1080p and upload to UA-cam in 1080p. I use H264 format at 15mbits/sec. for UA-cam. If the video is shot in 720p I use H264 at 8mbits/sec for UA-cam.

  • @VIDEOregi
    @VIDEOregi  13 років тому

    Thank you for nice comments. Looking forward to my next journey. As a video producer I am really happy about the GoPro with super wide angle and excellent stabilizer. I use Adobe Premiere Pro with the multicam function where I can edit 4 cameras on the fly. Afterwards I do some adjustment to the cuts and then I pick out the best in a short version (6 mins. out of 30mins)

  • @VIDEOregi

    I would prefer the honda 750 over the Yamaha V-star 650, if you want good handling and decent power. If you want the perfect bike, have you considered not buying a cruiser? If you are going on straight roads it's nice riding a cruiser, but on twisting roads, uphills/downhills, you may find it easier to control a diferrent type of bike. I had much fun with the Suzuki V-strom 650 2012 on my recent holiday in Gran Canaria. I have now sold my Honda 1100 Shadow and bought a Honda nc700x automatic.

    @65XE Tkanks for your comment. The heat in Gran Canaria is very nice in January, around 20-22 Celsius. I'm going back to GC this December and will do some shooting with 4 cameras on the same bike and maybe some other bikes.

  • @VIDEOregi
    @VIDEOregi  11 років тому

    Hi! I can't find the exact top speed specification anywhere, but it should be 150 to 160 km/h, that's around 90-100mph. The comfort speed is around 80. Going faster than 85 you will get too much vibrations and wind pressure, as with most cruisers.

  • @VIDEOregi
    @VIDEOregi  12 років тому

    @kubanitos Interesting question. This bike is just like my Honda 1100 Shadow limited in top speed, but have a solid acceleration up to 120/130 (140/150 for the Honda). The Kawasaki is perfect up to 120, but the gear ratio is not ideal for highspeed above 130km/h. Could benefit from an extra (6th) gear. The bike has an ideal gear ratio and torque for medium speed.

    There's the difference between Europe & North America. Other traffic on the road not only moved over to let you go by, but would wave you to go. Over here people will actually block you, or go slow on purpose so you can't get through.
    Spectacular road. I would bet a well-sorted 250 - 400 Super Moto would be the ideal bike for that. No room to use anything with big horsepower.
    Did the 900 manage ok? Were you scraping or dragging parts in any of the corners?

    • @Fire-Security
      @Fire-Security 3 роки тому

      The 900 was fun to ride but quite challenging in these sharp turns. And the wide handlebars are not optimal on such twisty roads. But I really like the roaring sound when riding the mountain roads. I experienced some scraping on previous rides, so I learned to slow down a bit in the turns. I agree that a smaller bike would be easier. Suzuki Vstrom 650 was ok, but I have also driven the same roads on 300 and 450cc scooters, worked really fine.

    this is a beautiful island and a beautiful bike. is it a good choice for a beginner rider?

    • @MOTORBIKEvideo
      @MOTORBIKEvideo 8 років тому +1

      +ST0RMBRINGR Hi! Beginners bike? Yes and no. Yes because it's quite affordable and it's relatively lightweight compared to the big cruisers. And yes because it has a low center of gravity and it has a low seat so it's easy to hold when standing still. And yes, it has moderate power and top speed. What's against the VN900 as a beginner's bike? It's much heavier than a typical beginners bike, let's say a 500cc-650cc. It's more demanding to take corners or sharp turns with a cruiser because of the weight, longer wheel base and wide handle bars. Conclusion: If you really want to start with a cool looking retro style cruiser, this bike is a very good choice if you can afford it. If you want a cheaper and more lightweight cruiser, take a look at Yamaha V Star 650cc. If you want an easy to handle modern style bike, take a look at Honda CB500x or CB500s.

  • @VIDEOregi
    @VIDEOregi  11 років тому

    Hi! Never heard of any limiter on the Vulcan 900, it should reach at least 100 under ideal conditions.They have made the gear ratio not for maximum top speed, more for power. And as always, a quite heavy cruiser with an upright rider in the seat, has to push a lot of wind. I never got past 110 with my Honda vt1100 Shadow.

  • @VIDEOregi
    @VIDEOregi  11 років тому

    That's a good one. Can't you just keep your smile in between rides also. Just kidding, I see your point. Big cruisers like the Vulcans are designed to make people happy.

    Thank you for the fast answer. I'm looking to buy my first motorbike, and the Kawasaki VN900 is one of my choices to choose from. It would be really nice of you to make a video showing how the bike can accelerate, since all my friends have superbikes and I'm the only one who wants a chopper. Does this motor have enough power to accelerate from 100 km/h to around 140-160 km/h? Noone seems to know how powerful a chopper really is. I'd like to know. Thanks. :)

    @frenor0302 Heisann, det var en helt original utrustning på denne vn900. Du har nok bedre lyd i custom modellen, har sett noen videoer som indikerer dette. I desember 2011 hadde jeg en helt ny vn900 classic på Gran Canaria, virket som den var enda litt mer dempet. Har film av den også på kanalen min.

    • @VIDEOregi
      @VIDEOregi  7 років тому

      No scraping on that trip, it was mostly downhill. I experienced a few scrapings in sharp uphill turns on other trips both with the VN900 and with my Honda Shadow 1100 classic, but not a big problem. I would think the Vulcan S is better in this matter. I also did another VN900 video for my Gran Canaria channel: ua-cam.com/video/AvbJpvqAao0/v-deo.html
      By the way, in 2012 I changed bike, bought the new Honda nc700x DCT which is perfect for twisty roads and rough road conditions, as well as for commuting. But I sure miss the cruiser feeling and the sound!

    I'm now riding a vn900 custom 2013 for about half a month. The strange thing is the lack of acceleration despite the fact that it has 900 ccm. It's just the same with my xv535 I owned before.
    But maybe this is because I have to run in the engine and so I'm afraid of playing with the gas at the moment. :-/
    Also the sound is not as awesome as yours. But this could result from german laws which say that a vehicle must be as quiet as possible or the fact that this is recorded by camera.

      They don't scrape if I drive smoothly through the curves. It's hard to avoid some scraping in a sharp curve combined with a steep uphill road, but that will happen in low speed so it's not a big problem.

      I can't say for sure since I haven't tried the Yamaha. Based on reviews and other impressions I feel that Yamaha is the better choice. The v star series have a solid reputation while the Kawasaki Vulcan has some minor issues that kept me from buying it, it's a bit "Plastic fantastic". I also noticed some rattle noise on the two different Vulcan 900 I tested. The newest of them was just run in and had much less of this noise, but after three days of riding the rattle noise started to increase. The dealer said this was typical for the model and that there hadn't been any real problems with the bikes. It just turned me off a little. Aside from that, Vulcan 900 is a feelgood bike, but remember, both these cruisers are not easy to handle in sharp turns. I had a Vulcan 750 1996 model and this was much easier to handle. The new Yamaha 950 Bolt is a good choice if you want a better handling bike, and have a budget for it.
