In this episode of Abbey’s Kitchen, I’m sharing some of my go-to baby and toddler snacks. I try to think of my snacks as like mini meals. All of these recipes I’m going to share with you today are super simple, easy for you to pack up, low mess and nutrient dense.
Baby Protein Pancakes
To a food processor, combine iron fortified grain cereal, oat flour, cottage cheese, mashed banana, natural peanut butter, eggs, baking powder and cinnamon. Fold in some blueberries and pan fry until golden brown.
Avocado Salmon Sandwiches
Mashing together avocado, no salt canned salmon and dill in a bowl. Spread on whole grain bread. Assemble the sandwiches and cut into fingers and then serve.
Baby Friendly Snack Mix
Mix together quinoa puffs, freeze dried fruits and veggie snacks, whole grain cereal. Mix and serve.
Homemade Hummus
To a food processor, I puree some tahini, water, olive oil, cumin, garlic, lemon juice. Process until smooth and serve with steamed carrots and peeled cucumbers.
I hope you enjoyed some of Baby E’s favourite snacks! For more tips on staying healthy, recipes, dieting, and information fit for consumption by foodies everywhere stop by Abbey’s blog.

“Babies and toddlers” yeah that’s gonna be for me
PeachPit I Lol same 😂
I could swear Baby E is really just referring to me haha
Came to comment this 😂
Would these be suitable for 27 year old babies, as well?
Morning Star of course!
38 year old baby will total do all of the above except for the cereal mix.
Do I have a baby or toddler- no, am I going to watch, yes.
Also please review high carb hannah what i est in a day!
Ceara Deming yay! Just filmed that today! Stay tuned
@@AbbeysKitchen great!! Can't wait to watch that! Did you react on High Carb Hannah recent diet (which is way higher in protein than it used to be) or on her past diet and videos?
As a 22 year old baby Im loving these recipes.
Could you do a video talking about how to do intuitive eating when you have one or more of the following:
1: A addiction, like to sugar or junk food.
2: A condition that causes your senses/digestion to be thrown off. (like ulcer, pregnancy or even schizophrenia)
3: Tends to do emotional eating
It would be so helpful, I think, to many of your viewers. Also, every time I bring up intuitive eating people always just say that it sounds like an excuse to eat junk food all the time and I want to be able to answer something more educated than "Well, your body shouldn't be craving only burgers and pizza..." Love your videos. you are a light that shines bright in these confused and confusing times
I had similar issues for a long time, and i found that intuitive eating was not the first step i could take. I had to start my healthy eating journey by being really strict with myself and cutting out those problematic food entirely, and after i did that for a while i was able to transition to a more intuitive style because my body was no longer as addicted to those foods. It wasn't easy, but sometimes you have to recognize that certain things just dont work at certain points in life, as lovely as they may sound
Although I'm sure this probably doesn't apply to everyone, I realized my "addiction" to food was really just my body constantly craving junk food because I was restricting myself. Once I stopped restricting myself physically and emotionally, I could easily eat a more balanced diet. I'm still in the process, but I feel so much better now.
Am I nineteen? Yes. Am I taking notes anyway? Yes again.
Adele Meunier adult friendly too!
now seems as good a time as any to announce: i AM baby
Thanks to grad school emotional regression, baby snacks are my go-to. Thanks for the ideas!!!
That avocado salmon sandwich is more gourmet than what i, a legal adult, make myself for my lunch to bring to work
Could you do a video on appropriate portion sizes for toddlers? I usually let my toddler eat intuitively and she does great at communicating when she's full or wants more, but she's currently going through a phase.
I'll make these for my 207 month old self!💖💖💖💖
Thank you! Just started babysitting, so making healthy snacks are a must.
Liz D. Awesome 👌
Love it! Thank you!
Yes please!!! More videos!!!

Perfect timing Abbey! We have a hurricane coming this weekend to Florida and this is exactly what I need, thank you!!!

Marie Johnson thanks!
Loved it!
Ngl probably will make myself some pancakes like this
Great snack ideas!
My palate is still that of a toddler. All of these look delicious!!
Lunch boxes and busy morning breakfasts would be awesome. Also more of the why behind the choices and understanding the nutritional needs of toddlers and preschoolers.
Love the idea of steaming carrots for a snack!
Totally making the pancake recipe for myself. It looks amazing!
Enjoy!
Yes to more baby/toddler/kid content! Maybe some lunchbox ideas? :)

Kate Elam awesome, thank you!
So wishing I would have found this video when my kiddos were small. Great toddler recipe ideas here!!
Thanks!
Thanks for the ideas! I'm always needing new snacks to mix things up for Queen C!
awesome!
These look good for me!
X oe thanks!
Love these ideas! I don’t know if this falls under your purview but we’re struggling with eating a range of foods with my three year old who’s about to start preschool. He was a foodie as a baby but got more limited as a toddler - but manageable. And then I got pregnant again and developed severe hyperemisis gravadarium, extreme nausea and vomiting of pregnancy. I spent most of my pregnancy in the hospital and tried to hide the vomiting from him, but of course he saw it.
The result was that he saw me eat a really unhealthy diet (drs frequently recommend soda, for example, as the food and drinks you can keep down tend to be very sugary and it’s more import to eat and keep food down than not). He also saw me very sick and that combo lead to a really limited diet and a fear of eating anything new, different or textured.
I’m three months postpartum and still having stomach issues from the hg, so unfortunately I have to eat a liquid diet for now, and I’m still not able to model a balanced approach with a variety of foods. Though I do eat with him, cook with him and look for ways to expand his diet past goldfish.
But I’d soooo love some practical information from a professional about how to support my little guy back towards a diet filled with foods that give him energy and strength. Right now he crashes a lot since he eats a lot of empty carbs and I’m worried this is a pivotal time for shaping his taste buds and we’re missing it because we’re stuck feeding him such a limited selection.
We’re seeing a child psychologist to get some assistance around the emotional side of his fears of food after my illness, but practical nutritional info would really help too 😀🌮🥪🍙
Ps - also in Canada, where’d you get the freeze dried fruit and veggie snacks, never seen those....
I'm makin' these for me and putting them in my bento!
lambchopxoxo amazing!
Great snacks!
I would love to see more on this topic!
My suggestions are
-quick and easy healthy meals -veggie baby/toddler
-sugarfree Birthday cakes and treats
I love you videos!
Marie Hu thanks for the suggestion!
super !!
Making things look aesthetic is sometimes just as important as what’s in it/how it tastes. You do such a beautiful job at all of the above ☺️
Peyton Riley aw thanks love
Yesss everyone thinks of snacks as treats these days. I give my 10 month old peas and carrots, blueberries and Cheerios for a snack so she learns to love healthy foods! And don’t expect sugar treats for snacks.
Not a toddler (I'm a 26 year old "adult"), but I struggle to eat a good variety of vegetables. I love the idea of steaming carrots to go with hummus! I really don't like crunchy foods, so I think this would help. Love all your videos. :)
Yes please, baby and toddler meals, suggestions for picky eaters thanks xx
Great, thanks!
Even though I’m 19, we actually eat loads of these! We love organic hummus and cucumber , rolled up in wholewheat tortillas. Cheese is great too !
Would love preschooler ideas!
I have a very picky teething one year old. Steamed carrot chilled might be a great help. I hadnt thought of it. Thanks!
Hope it helps!
Not a mom yet, but I’m often told I eat like a toddler, so I’m here for this 😆
Are you still doing a review of the Weight Watchers app for kids? I keep seeing really troubling comments online supporting it, but I’m not nutritionally savvy enough to respond productively... Hope you’ll address it.
Kirsten S. just filmed it today!
Stay tuned
I think those baby pancakes will b for me lol
thank you for the video in going to make thoses
Jaafar A thanks for watching!
I wanna try those pancakes! Your hair looks particularly good in this video my dear!
thanks so much :)
My son was a grazer, doctor said snacks should be mini meals, it worked for us
Yeah...gonna make those for me😂
Love this. Those pancakes would be easily veganised/made dairy free with a soft tofu and egg replacer for vegan option.
Would really appreciate more dairy free baby and toddler snack and meal ideas!
We have a 4 month old so will be starting on food soon. Love the steamed carrots and salt free hummus for young eaters. Never would have thought of that!
I need toddler snack storage ideas for my diaper bag.
Thank you so much for this video my baby is starting to eat solids and I get a little nervous because I’m not sure how to feed a baby besides the basic baby jar replacement recipes
This looks awesome! I am not really into cooking but I loved these ideas, they look really easy to prepare. Would the pancakes freeze well?
Love this video! My daughter has an iron deficiency (she's almost 2) I'd love a video on iron rich snack/meal ideas for toddlers!
Okay great!
Hi Abbey. I love your channel so much. Could you please let me know what brand of Tupperware those cute little containers are? They are so cute. I hope they are available in the U.K. Thank you for such amazing, sensible sassy scientific advice xx
More healthy recipes please :)
for sure
These are good for me too when i get peckish at work lol
I don't have kids but I would so make these for myself XD
awesome!
Hi Abbey, what’s a good non-dairy alternative to the cottage cheese in the protein pancakes?
I am a grown up ( mostly) can I eat these too? 🙃 They look awesome!
😂 I just read some of the comments.. apparently great minds think alike!!! Thanks for the recipes!
No kids for me but these look helpful for my picky hubby!
If your baby/toddler is in daycare or needs to avoid peanuts for any other reason, you can swap out No Sugar Added Sunbutter for the Peanut Butter in the pancakes (just be warned: cooking sunbutter can make it turn green ).
thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much! Have any ideas for an almost 2 year old?? She is alergic to mango and spinach and she doesn't like bread.
What age group would you recommend for each of those snacks? I have an 8 month old who’s getting her first tooth and I’ve been looking for good snacks for her. Thank you! (These look great!)
Abbey i love you and your opinion about healthy eating i really wanna know your opinions about lectins i am so confused can you do video on this topic?
Can you review Maggie Macdonald’s what I eat in a day?!
Maybe I'm a baby, but I'm so trying these snacks. Haha
Please review stephanie or amy macedo what i eat in a day! :) ps loved the video and these snacks will definitely be made.....for me
megan guerrero will check out, thanks
Could you do some ideas for nut-free daycare snacks and/or lunches for preschool age.
great idea
For toddler vids!
Do you have any videos on how to make smart food choices in college?
Well my baby it's 9 years older but I think I'm gonna give a try to this snacks.
Enjoy!
hi!!! could you, please, make a review on
Maddie Lymburner?
Where do those freeze dried fruits & veggies snacks come from? I can’t seem to find anything like those!
I'd love more toddler videos!!! I've got a 2 and a 1/2 that won't eat any fruit or veggies and it's driving me crazy.
Thank you for this! My son will be happy to get something other than raisins or crackers for snack 😂
Destiny Jones awesome
I’m really struggling to get my one year old to like eating breakfast. Any breakfast recipes or tips on encouraging him to be more of a breakfast eater so he’s not hangry by snack time?
Can you think of some balanced snacks for grade schoolers? The school is nut free as well, so it’s super tricky!
Could you make a video or give some suggestions for meals for a 12-18 month old who only has two teeth? If the suggestions are meal prep friendly that’s even better!
We dont have this cearel in the pancakes in my country. What do i use instead?
Hey Abby! I was wondering if you had any advice on eating a low fiber diet. I have ulcerative colitis and my doctor has not been particularly helpful.
Hey love, I recommend meeting with a dietitian. They can provide the best tips to meet your unique needs :)
please do a type 2 diabetes and nutrition video!!!
Hey abby can you please review shine with plants family diet. They have a raw vegan diet even for their kids. I at first thought that their lifestyle for their kids is amazing before finding your channel. Now im just confused and want to know if what they feed their kids is healthy
A raw vegan diet is not the best idea, even for adults. It's not easy to get in everything you need, and even if you are able to, it's completely unnecessary.
Besides The Cereal, Where Can I Find Those Baby Snack Mix?
Thanks, Abbey! These are great for when my grandson visits!
peachhipgirl awesome
Lol , I’m watching this for future reference 😂😂
I have a question. But first a little back story whenever I crave something it’s usually because some vitamin or mineral in the food is something I’m deficient in. Lately, I’ve been craving pistachios soooo severely that I dream about it. I can’t stop thinking about pistachios. What vitamins etc are in pistachios? I have felt very anemic because of some blood loss so I’m thinking that’s it. Just wanted your input
Could you please do a video about what to eat when you have pcos? I’m having a hard time getting enough protein in my diet
I have a blog post on diet for pcos: www.abbeyskitchen.com/pcos-diet-part-2/ but I also plan on doing a video, so stay tuned
Review pippin jardin!
Could you please do a video on intuitive eating?
That's the plan!
Wer can I find these freeze dried fruits and vegetable snacks... Can u share a link please
I am always looking for things to feed my kids (16, 7 and 2). I have been fighting the youngest one on suppers as well because although he has all his teeth (for his age) he finds many grilled meats difficult to chew, and getting enough supper into him before bed is hard -- resulting in more frequent night waking and extra nursing in the night (yes, I KNOW... he's getting old for that))...
I have never seen canned salmon before :o
great video!!
Margaux Wilpon thanks!
Except for the cereal, I'd eat all these. You can fix my lunch anytime mom. :D :D
yay!
Can you please review Amber Lynn Reid???
on the list!
Abbey Sharp YAY! Thank you ☺️
Can you please review Dr.Mona Vand’s new PSL recipe video?? As an RD2BE, I heard so many false claims that are SO cringeworthy and I’d love to hear your input! 💕
Could you review Ellen Fisher’s recent ‘what my kids eat in a day’ Video?
I'll check it out
any good ideas for for picky 6-year olds?
I'll do a video on picky eating, so stay tuned
