Love the Sheraton. B.B.King used to play very thin strings and solid state amps (fender tube amp in his early days). Freddie in contrast used tube amps. That does a lot on the tone. To get that vintage B.B. tone I would add classic 57 PUs. Later he used 498/490 PUs on his Lucille model. Since you like Wes Montgomery too as I do add 14' flatwound strings to get a jazzier tone.
I haven’t owned a guitar since I was a kid and never an electric. I did a TON of searching for my first electric before Christmas so I could tell Santa what I wanted. I played (as badly as I am- not playing for 40 years or so). Initially I was trying lots of Epiphone Les Paul’s. Then one evening I walked into a Sam Ash store and saw a blue Sheraton II Pro on the wall. I resisted at first. It took three trips to that store before I took it off the wall and put it in my hands. I loved it. Still do. I’ve got lots of jealous friends now. One called it a work of art. I love the tone. Thanks for the good review!
Best guitar channel on UA-cam!!! You influenced my gear a lot. My guitars : Epiphone casino, Epiphone riviera, Epiphone sheraton, Epiphone les Paul custom. Amps : Fender hot rod deluxe lll, Hot rod Deville 212, deluxe reverb. Pedals : Ceriatone Centura, Ehx soulfood, visual sound route 66, visual sound jekyll and hyde. Thank you so much
Epiphone makes fantastic ES/semi-hollow guitars at great prices (especially on the used market). I picked up a used 1998 Dot Deluxe for cheap on my local CraigsList. Brought it to the local luthier, had a bone nut installed, full setup and minor fret level performed. It's a killer instrument at a bargain price. Awesome review and demo Jack!
Good video. Last year I bought the ES-335 Pro. Intermittent failure obtaining both P/U's in middle position. Bridge P/U coil split unreliable. All snap together wiring & mediocre tuners. G.C. tech was honest enough letting me know he had never worked on semi-hollow bodies before. Loved the woodwork quality & neck shape & not wanting to risk shipping damage I ordered Seymour Duncan "Greenies", Grover tuners, 59 period correct pre-wired switch, pots, & caps. Dropped everything at Gryphon Guitars in Palo Alto Calif. In 8 days I picked up MY ultimate tone monster. To then compensate for the loss of clear thin tones I bought the 70th anniversary Fender Broadcaster. No mods needed. My wallet tells me I'm good for a while. P.S. new subscriber
Hi Jack, thanks for another great comparison. Just bought a new Es 335 vintage sunburst. Although I’ve not had it long I’m enjoying the larger body and beefier neck over the two 339’s I own. The pots on the 339 with humbuckers need a replacement, probably to a non splitting pot. The 339 with p90’s has been reliable. But I would like to add that the new 335 seems so far to be an upgrade in hardware quality over both of the 339’s. Thanks again!
hi jack , i just bought an 2020 "inspired by gibson " epi ES 335 vintage sunburst , this is the epi semi hollow that's so close to the gibson ES 335 playing and sound wise that the lines are blurring , the difference is so small that the moneygap between both guitars is a bit silly , i have sold my 2019 gibson ES 335 ( P 90 ) now and i do not miss it at all , and i have a good amount off money left , wich is always nice : )
I own a 2012 Epiphone Sheraton II and a 2004 Epiphone Dot Deluxe . Both guitars are made in Korea . I feel lucky that I was able to find the Sheraton made in Korea that recently ! Both have great build quality , great tone , and and play like Butter . The Dot has a thicker neck , which I like . Love both guitars !
I always owned Korean made epiphones and recently bought a used chinese made sheraton for cheap. It really changed my mind, the qualoty is amazing and there is no need to change pickups or anything. It hold up really good against my gibson les paul wich was 10 times as expensive 😬
I play a Sheraton II Pro. Nice guitar played through a Vox AC15. Got it to play in pit band for HS musicals. Had to take it to a tech. We put a new bone nut and reset the neck and had it plecked by Sweetwater. I mostly use it now for home and teaching. I look for reasons to play it. Great tones and lots of different tones with coil splits. It plays really easy with 9's, Great blues ax. Great jazz ax. Not much it won't do really well.
Good demo video, Jack. Nice to see the difference on a side by side compassion. another great guitar player who played an es335 is Alvin Lee from 10 years after.
i did purchase a Sheraton ll just because i was intrigued that the fact that it has usa gibson shop made pickups and hardware,i own several gibson guitars and i was impressed with the quality and sound of this guitar
I have a 2002/03 Korean Sheraton Tobacco burst (I believe). Fit and finish is amazing, super playable with rock solid tuning. Over the years I’ve overhauled components which, for me, has made it even better. Bone nut, Faber Bridge and anchors, Grover tuners, and most importantly Duncan Seth Lover PUPs and CTS pots. It’s been my only keeper guitar since that time. It’s a warm but articulate guitar and very versatile. Shines clean or dirty.
Just recently got my Sheraton 2Pro and will definitely play it at next gig upcoming. So smooth, yet, it ROCKS like an ES-335! If you play out, what types of songs do you use it on??
Both guitars sound very good, but my vote goes to the Sheraton in the end, since that's the one I have experience with myself. I've never had a 335. My Sheraton is the PRO, but otherwise the same as yours. Mine's also black. I did really enjoy the part where you used the bridge pickup on the Sheraton. I often use bridge pickup on ES guitars. Your playing is awesome as always, man. Thanks for doing great guitar videos.

I have owned a Sheraton pro2 since they came out and highly recommend them. As you rightly state, they are an original Epiphone model and not a `copy` of a Gibson. They are a great gigging tool and literally come to life at venue volume, yes there are feedback issues but these can be controlled and used effectively as you get used to them. Through a quality valve amp in the `zone`, natural valve compression and the Sheratons grown-up nature really deliver some ballsy tones. If you ride the volume knobs you can go from soft jazz/blues to in your face blues/rock with ease. And of course, there is the price. £550 UK is a real deal for such a good players instrument. The money you save over a genuine Gibson will pay for a good small (15/20 watt) valve amp that your sound man will love you for.

I got the new blueberry "inspired by" 335 and I love it. Sounds and plays great. No hardware problems so far. Actually stays in tune better than the faded Gibson SG I used to have. Epiphone really did up their game with these new models.
@@AgavePiper I have the same blueberry inspired by, and for my particular guitar I would have to say yes. The hardware is leaps and bounds better than before. Not "cheap" feeling at all.
I've had my Sheraton for 20 years. Upgraded the pickups, pots, switch and input jack. I love the features and quality. I've had high end Strats, and Les Paul and the Sheraton is still in my house. Putting in new pickups and pots made it come alive more than I expected.
I had a Gibson bridge PU from a 60's Les Paul RI with a Golden Age for the neck, and Mojo tone wiring harness. Made a big difference in clarity and tone. Looking to add a roller bridge and a duesenberg les trem next.@@dannop8795
I got a blueberry burst as an Xmas present this year. It has terrible fret sprout that I am fixing because every time I think about it I have this image of my 14 year old carrying it around Guitar Center, so one else would buy it.🥰 Anyway I took the pick guard off so I could fully enjoy the the burst and it is breath taking. I've already put a Gibson '57 in the bridge. Not sure what I'm going to do in the neck. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the thing.
@@SteveSterlacci actually I think it was crap QC it Epiphone. Both sides and every fret needed to be filed. I’m about 50% done filing right now. At least now I can play it without tearing up my hand. But WOW what a tone machine.
I,m jealous,,lol,i bought my cherry es335 inspired by Gibson before those blueberry ones came out.I love my cherry one but i keep eyeballing 👀 the blueberry one.I want it, but not gonna get passed my wife on this one haha
When you described the dodgey neck pickup, coil-splitting, push pull pot and used the term “shoddy parts”, the first thing that popped into my mind was “I gave the Libyans a bomb casing filled with shoddy pinball machine parts”...Doc Brown to Marty McFly in the 1985, original “Back to the Future” film.
I was at a guitar show last week and picked up a 2007 Korean Sheraton pro ii and to be honest I really love it big fat neck plays and sounds great highly recommended but I have never played the new ones ..great post 👍👍
Great video Jack. Interesting and informative. I would love to watch similar comparisons between an Epiphone Dot and an Ibanez AS73 with the classic elite pickups, and also a comparison between a Sheraton and an Ibanez AS93 with super 58 pickups.
Nice Vid Jack! I have a Left Handed 2011 Sheraton II that I just love for Blues. It’s a little on the heavy side but I have small hands and mine has a deep neck profile so it makes for more work for me to play. I do like the sound though! Please keep up the Good Work my Friend and Cheers from Salem, Ohio!
@@graemero5532 I’m hoping to if I can get my hands on one. I love that Epiphone is doing it in more of the classic reissue style. I’d actually love for them to do the same with the Sheraton - the Casino/Riviera shaped headstock with the inlays and dual mini hums.
That was extremely helpful. Prices on the 335 have plummeted recently. I was considering buying one and replacing the electrics/pickups. Maybe I also need to look at what's available for tuners. Good work, nice one
I got lucky last year when I saw an Epiphone DOT at my local music store b4 the lockdowns. Great build, natural tone and Grover tuners. Costs less than the ES 335, but I think this one I bought might just sound a bit better than that 335. Ya know what they say, even the same model of a guitar -- each guitar will sound different. Great video !
I have the 62 reissue sheraton that has the gibson mini humbuckers, grover tuners and frequensator tail piece and a 2014 Gibson ES335 Memphis custom shop. Yes, differences are there tone wise and build quality. I love both for what they represent. To me, the reissue Sheraton feels at home as a Jazz/Blues guitar, the ES335 is also that and you can push it further.
I own 2 335 Pros. One I changed pots and pickups one I left stock. Both are good. I own a 335 Gibson Studio as well and an older Epiphone 355 in Pelham blue that is really nice. Totally the 355 has them all beat. My 335 Gibson has classic 57 pickups in it.
Damn dude. Another great video. I love the Rush tones you get at 12:whatever. To me, the Sheridan sounds better. You’ve got me thinking about my Epi 339 Pro (keeper) and my Epi Riviera P930 (gorgeous wall art). I could see swapping the Riviera for a Sheridan. Sounds so good.
I have the 335 pro. I don’t have any issues with the hardware, and the coil splitting works well. I just don’t use coil splitting, the sound of the buckers is what I was after. This is my main axe at the moment.
I went to the guitar store with no idea that I would be buying anything. I saw a light natural wood finish Sheraton II and was struck by its beauty, so I tried it out. It is so easy to play and get great sound from. I bought it on the spot. No regrets - I love it. Some of my other guitars include a 1983 (I think) Les Paul and a late 80s US-1. I like them all, but the Sheraton II is my favorite. Thanks for this great review.
Bought an ES 335 as a first electric a few months ago. Love it to death for the array of tones available due to the coil split. Only issue I had was a wobbly selector switch that I had upgraded right off the hop. The Sheraton definitely has the edge in tone, in my opinion and may be trading up to it in the future.
I’m so torn between the Sheraton and the 335.Both have great pedigree,I’m tending to lean towards the Sheraton atm only because of my ongoing issues with my Epi Casino that I bought brand new.I hardly ever hear bad comments about older Sheraton’s.
I love epiphone, but I do think my casino beats them both! Full hollow body resonates much more but unfortunately it does feed back more. Out of the two I’d definitely choose the Sheraton. Great description jack. Good job mate.👍🎸
Would love your opinion on the uptown kat? I haven’t played one yet but watched a few videos on UA-cam and they do sound great. I would welcome your opinion on one as you delve into hardware, pick ups, neck, etc. Keep up the great work jack.👍🎸
@@jamessutherington3471 thank you! I haven’t had a chance to play one yet so I can’t comment but I agree that they seem good from what I’ve seen on UA-cam.
Just got a natural Sheraton 2 pro one on eBay $460 case tax and shipping. The 335 seemed a little more midrangey with good edgey bite very nice and the Sheraton 2 pro was more balanced, warmer and if you dug into the notes a little more would sound a little sweeter, both seem to be great guitars, a nice change from Strats and Teles.
I have a 2017 pro with coil split. The only upgrade I have done is the tuners. I like it a lot. I didnt really have the need for a 335 all the time so I bought the epiphone and have been pleased.
Love the cherry red color of the 335, the no frills headstock emblem, and the silver pickups. Plus, the 335 is so iconic. I'd get a 335 pro and change the tuners.
I have an 88 Epiphone Sheraton II, that I bought new. I think it was a Samick factory guitar, and it was the last year of the "Epiphone by Gibson" headstock. I was gigging a lot, and had a 65 Fender Coranado II stolen during a loadout from a place I was playing in. I bought a Heritage H170 to replace it, and kept looking for another Fender. A friend of mine called me to come look at the Sheraton, and I bought it after playing it acoustically. I was never real happy with the bridge pickup, and after years of complaining to myself about it, I had my tech guy put a set of hot Seymour Duncans in it, with CTS push pull volume pots for the coil splitting, and another on one tone control that reversed the phase. It gave me all the possible tone settings I could use, from a warm jazzy sound to a tele type twang, and it's become my go to guitar for just about everything.
I have a 90's Sheraton 2. At the time my amp was an Epiphone 60watt 'Triggerman' Solid state that sounded OK with strat style guitars but the Sheraton2 sounded absolutely awful thru it. There was no setting on that amp that helped at all. I then put a pair of quality P90's in the Sheraton and found that it sounded just fine. I did keep those original pickups and may implant them into another guitar one day, and I have a great amp now. The Sheraton 2 still looks and sounds lovely. Far too nice to ever part with 😊
Great playing as always. I think the Sheraton is definitely a step up from the 335 Pro. I have the 2020 Riviera with the mini humbuckers and a Casino. Do you think the Sheraton is different enough compared to those? The thought of all my electrics being 335 -like seems somewhat silly, but I find them comfy.
I just got into the world of semi-hollow guitars last year. I bought a Squier Classic Vibe Starcaster. It’s a fun guitar! I’m thinking I’d go Sheridan for an Epi. I hope to be able to afford a real Gibson for my dream guitar which has always been a 335
I have and love that exact model and color of the ES 335 Pro. My hardware issue was the output jack. It was poorly threaded and wouldn't stay tight. I replaced it with a Switchcraft jack and it's all better now. There was also a little bit of fret unevenness that kept me from setting the action as low as I would have liked. Since I liked the guitar so much otherwise, I decided to have it plek'd so it could be as good as possible. I also put in a Tusq nut, well, because. Now, for my taste it's practically perfect, though I might wind up upgrading the tuners eventually.
I have a 97 Sheraton II. I've put a lot of money into it. It's got a new nut, Gibson PAFs, Vintage style wiring, CTS pots, paper-in-oil caps, Gibson USA ABR-1 bridge, Gotoh stopbar, and upgraded to 18:1 Rotomatic tuners. I don't know what else I can do to it. It's perfect.
That was some kinda of guitar post mortem... However, I have an interest in guitars and I'm hoping to get one soon which of these might be 'better' for a beginner? Then I am kinda liking the ES 339...what's with that one? Please comment and thank you for these videos.
Both great sounding guitars. As a guitar player and collector with limited means I'd pick both over the Gibbo equivalent any day of the week - the Gibsons are simply not worth 10 times as much. I have an Epiphone 335 DOT, which seems pretty much like the 335 Pro but with Grover tuners, no fretboard binding, clay dot inlays and no coil split - great guitar with no issues straight out of the box. I also do guitar setups and minor repairs for other people (but not as a profession) and 9 times out of 10 have found that when people complain about the tuners it's either the way it's been strung or the nut cut wrongly for the string guage - easily rectifiable problems without going to the expense of upgrading the tuners. Of course, there is always that one time when the tuners really are that shite. Professional guitar techs will nearly always say the tuners need replacing if you have tuning problems as it's more money for them. I'm surprised you didn't mention the Epiphone Casino models in this vid. One of those might be next on my shopping list. Anyway, out of the two demoed (great demo), I'd go for the 335 as I couldn't really tell the difference when I played it back sound only and I'm not into the ornate stuff on the Sheraton II.
You sound a lot like me Mark. I agree with all of that. Also, a lot of comments on guitar social media sites come from players who buy a guitar and moan about the pickups, then swap them out without ever considering adjusting them. I have many guitars, some fairly expensive and some not so expensive. Budget friendly guitars are a totally different species to when I was a youngster ( I'm 60 years old ) We had to spend a fair bit of money if we wanted a guitar which was " gig-able " and stayed in tune ( some were even impossible to get in tune lol ) I have a Harley Benton Fusion T - a Telecaster ( from Thomann Germany )with twin Humbuckers ( splitable via push / pull tone knob ) , a Wilkinson Trem, a Roasted Maple neck and fretboard, Stainless Steel Frets, Graph Tech Tusq Nut, Staggered Locking Tuners, which cost just £319 with free delivery to the UK. It came ( delivered in 4 days from ordering ) strung with D'Addario 10's and was perfectly set up out of the box. The pickups are Roswell which some people have grumbled about but they are absolutely superb Alnico 5 Humbuckers. I struggle to get my breath with a lot of folk lol ...... The Epiphone ES 335 ( Inspired By Gibson 2020 model ) is absolutely fantastic. One of my best ever purchases. Oh, I have a Casino and a Casino Coupe ( both crafted in China ) and they are also superb. Take care Mark Happy New Year.
Really good review Jack. I would love a good 335 but at the time I could afford one, I found the build quality on those I tried was poor and they were not 10 times better than the Epiphone. In the end I went for an Epiphone 339 which was a really good gigging guitar, very versatile. The quality of the parts wasn’t great and I parted with it but regret that now. The Sheraton as you say seems to be a thing in itself and sounds really good…I might be tempted to try one…
They sound very similar to me. I was looking to buy a 335 style guitar and I wound up buying an Eastman 184MX. It's sweet, super light and sounds luscious.
I recently purchased the Sheraton 2Pro, and am very happy with it. I gig (play out) and wanted a semi-hollow to provide a contrast to my Les Paul Studio's power and my Fender Tele's overall blues/rock versatility, and though I haven't played the Sheraton out just yet, it provides that contrast in band practices that I was looking for perfectly. There is a refreshing change/contrast to the other guitars that you can only get from a "semi-hollow". Next gig, I will definitely play it and am so excited to. Anybody else out there getting ready to start using a semi-hollow? If so, which kind? And, what types of songs will you play it on? Luv this guitar; it feels and sounds incredible!!! 🎸
I was jonesing for a good semi myself and originally bought the 335 inspired by Gibson, loved the tone and classic cherry color but the neck was just a bit much for my wimpy smallish hands so I took it back and was thinking the 335 pro, the neck was a bit smaller but then I thought what the hell I'll try the Sheraton and fell in love, most comfortable neck I've ever played on and actually the only difference that seems to matter to me. Actually the tuners are a lot better too, I actually liked the snarly tone of the 335 more so I might go to the classic pro humbuckers. But the Sheraton is such a joy to play I have a tough time putting it down
I just ordered one of these and I am having trouble finding a hard shell case. I have read that the Epiphone E519 that Epiphone suggests for it won't fit and I will need to buy an SKB 1SKB-35. Would you tell me what you are using or what would fit. Thanks
Both guitars sound very good, but my vote goes to the Sheraton in the end, since that's the one I have experience with myself,i got a blonde sheraton 2 from 2004 and yes;für this price i paid(250 bucks) and a intensive settingsession now since 2 years my first guit!!I also had an es 345 ánd an es 347;both verx good guits too!But if i see the price.....no question! If i had to go from beginning then i woud buy a Epiphone es 335;nothing is wrong with it!Thanks for your videos and the work behind!
I love the Sheraton but, (by design) it's missing inlays at the 17th, 19th and 21st frets. I just can't get past it. I might, however, get one and learn how to add the inlays myself.
Sounds like the Sheraton II is better. Does it have different pickups than the dot. I know any guitar can do anything but which do recommend would handle classic hard rock better, i.e. AC/DC, Zeppelin, Beatles, Boston, Stones, Sabbath, that kind of stuff. 90% of the time I am always on the Bridge Pickup? I rarely play the neck. Thank you for posting this.
I have the ES-335 Pro Limited Edition. Ive had no problems with anything “yet”, but I don’t think the pots and switch will last long. The new 335 has better CTS pots, but I notice the body is all maple ply and the old Pro is maple/birch. They also have changed the Pau Ferro to a Laurel finger board. Im tempted to by the new one now to compare.
I have se Sheraton. I don’t like the finish on the Sheraton pro II, is it worth re finish it and changing the pick ups for some Seth lovers? Mostly do RnB; Neo, and some jazzy stuff. I am better of getting something like an Eastman?
Could you do an opinion on the 1966 Epiphone Century James Bay model? I ve bought that one and being a novice/ begining intermediate I'm curious what an experienced player thinks
Always dug the Sheraton...except, why did they not continue the fret markers? Looks kinda incomplete.😮 Anyway...my friend let me try his Sheraton. His had a huge neck profile. Super thick. Guessing the new ones are more modern in profile? Gotta admit, black and gold is always a looker eh?👍😎 👍😎❤🖖 Love brother
I actually haven't had a ton of time with the Ibanez guitars so its hard to say, except I will say that based on my limited experience and friends I know who have them, the Ibanez will stand up to just about anything. They're really well built guitars.
Not a fan- I made one from black/white/black pickguard material to the shape of a 335. It just looks better, not like an amoeba. Love and kept the 'E' however!!
From Leo: I think the Es & the Sheraton are close enough I would have one or the other, but not both. You are right, the es335 hardware is pretty marginal. I just got rid of my last Semi hollow Epiphone. I traded them after getting a Peavey JF-1, which I like better even though the specs and the price would not say it. I just like the feel and sound of the Peavey better. Of course when I want to use a trem, the Gretsch jumps in.
Id like to mention Dax Riggs, he has ALWAYS played a cream or white Sheraton since at least the mid 90s, and has some great guitar tones. He also has used the ES-335 around 2006 i believe, it didnt sound exactly the same no but it sounded just as good.

Love my 335 Pro after I upgraded with the Stew Mac basic upgrade kit Tuners/Bridge.

Looking at a Sheraton right now, this video was essential to me making the right purchase for me! Cheers! Thank you 🇨🇦👋🏻👍🏻
Both guitars sound very good, but my vote goes to the Sheraton in the end, since that's the one I have experience with myself.

Brilliant comparison as always
I just ordered my Sheraton II today! I purchased the Ebony version as a tribute to B.B. King.

Dude your channel is awesome!!! You really know your stuff
I got the new blueberry "inspired by" 335 and I love it. Sounds and plays great. No hardware problems so far. Actually stays in tune better than the faded Gibson SG I used to have. Epiphone really did up their game with these new models.
Was the switch selector upgraded or did it come with the same crappy one?
@@AgavePiper the one on mine works fine. I don't know if it's upgraded or not.
@@AgavePiper I have the same blueberry inspired by, and for my particular guitar I would have to say yes. The hardware is leaps and bounds better than before. Not "cheap" feeling at all.
Totally agree Jason. I have the Vintage Sunburst and it is an outstanding guitar in every regard.
I've had my Sheraton for 20 years. Upgraded the pickups, pots, switch and input jack. I love the features and quality. I've had high end Strats, and Les Paul and the Sheraton is still in my house. Putting in new pickups and pots made it come alive more than I expected.
Curious as to which pups you chose to put in. Thanks!
I had a Gibson bridge PU from a 60's Les Paul RI with a Golden Age for the neck, and Mojo tone wiring harness. Made a big difference in clarity and tone. Looking to add a roller bridge and a duesenberg les trem next.@@dannop8795
I want one of them blueberry 335s they came out with!!! I have always been curious about the differences here...
I secretly love the blueberry finish too 😂
I got a blueberry burst as an Xmas present this year.
@@steveeckert8396 nice! Is it from a lack of humidity in the store or your house? I have to keep mine near a humidifier all winter in NY
Sheratons have been a consistently good guitar for a very long time now IMO.
Great video Jack. Interesting and informative. I would love to watch similar comparisons between an Epiphone Dot and an Ibanez AS73 with the classic elite pickups, and also a comparison between a Sheraton and an Ibanez AS93 with super 58 pickups.
I’ve had both. Epi335 and AS73. Ibanez for me.
Thanks to your playing and that great amp they both sound great. I'd honestly struggle to pick one.
Appreciate that! You really can’t go wrong with either. Aside from the few small issues I mentioned, they’re both great guitars.
@@JackFossett Any chance of you reviewing the new Riviera ?
@@graemero5532 I’m hoping to if I can get my hands on one. I love that Epiphone is doing it in more of the classic reissue style. I’d actually love for them to do the same with the Sheraton - the Casino/Riviera shaped headstock with the inlays and dual mini hums.
Sheraton player here, it's my main guitar and I love it. Rock on
That was extremely helpful.
I put a set of DiMarzio pickups in one of mine and it sounds great
Did you buy an inspire by Gibson 335 version? Curious as to whether the née 335s also have this selector issue.
NoI bought the older version. I toyed with the new inspired by Gibson version but want to see more feedback about them.
My older version the switch is too stiff lol They could really just use all new electronics in mho.
@@Mountainrock70 At my age a stiff switch would be a nice thing! Lol
Thank you! I totally agree. Casino is my favorite of the Epiphone hollow and semi hollow line.
Great review all the info we need to make the right decision 👍
Sold my Sheraton to fund an Eastman T486B, which is a superior guitar in every single way but damn, I miss that Sheraton! It had it going on
I got those 2 ( 335 pro and sheraton 2004 ) and I love those guitares.
I was disappointed that they no longer made the Sheraton in Natural. That was a beautiful guitar.
Just check your local guitar shops.i got one shop that sells a natural Sheraton for a few hundred
Just got a natural Sheraton 2 pro one on eBay $460 case tax and shipping.
@@piedpeter1 The headstock on the Sheraton 2 Pro is sweet.
I had the es 335 pro. It was a great guitar. I'm looking at a Sheraton 2 for 350 second hand.
Great comp! I have an es335 pro and I love it! I have done S some modes. Pickguard, Grovers, I also flat wounds. No issue with pots or switch. Thanks!
Grovers make a big difference!
Flat wound strings really are excellent, they suit the 335 type so well!
Get the new 2020 epiphone 335 it better

My 335 pro tuners have no issues. You just need to wrap the strings around the posts properly and they'll hold for good.
really honest review bro well done
Glad you liked it!
Far too nice to ever part with 😊
Thank You Jack, great video! BR
I think it is especially considering you have one with p90’s and another with mini humbuckers. So yea I think they’re would be a difference
just bought a Sheridan two days ago and just love it.
I just got into the world of semi-hollow guitars last year. I bought a Squier Classic Vibe Starcaster. It’s a fun guitar! I’m thinking I’d go Sheridan for an Epi. I hope to be able to afford a real Gibson for my dream guitar which has always been a 335
1994 sheraton here.....love it
Gibson ES 335 also has kirfing. Epi does not. Can you explain why one has and the other does not and what impact that may or may not have.
I just got a ES-339 Epi and it is fantastic!
I have a Epiphone 59 ES335 Dot they were only available for the American market and seem to be abit rare, have you come across one or heard of one??
The man has good taste - blue strats and butterscotch teles. And the Epiphones , of course.
Ok that’s it!! When this covid crap is over, I’m stopping by just to sit in the same room as you play to absorb it live!!! Great playing as always!
Appreciate that! Hope to get back into real performance when this is all over. And it will be, we’ll get there.
I enjoyed the video. I prefer the Sheraton. How do you think these compare to a Gretsch electromatic center block? Are they similar build quality?
I've generally found the Gretsch guitars to be a step up, but realistically pretty close
Awesome video
Eastmans are awesome! I haven't played many but I've never played one that wasn't impressive.
Yep, Eastman make beautiful guitars. They are gradually increasing in value ..... for good reason !
Hey Jack! My pick is sheraton. Sounds better in my ears. ( I bought sheraton II pro... And i love it!
I have read that the Epiphone
E519 that Epiphone suggests for it won't fit and I will need to buy an SKB 1SKB-35. Would you tell me what you are using or what would fit. Thanks
Bought a Sheraton Pro II. Sold it...buying another one soon. Very complete guitar I have found.
Thanks, watching this got me to dust off my 67 Casino that I all but forgot I have.
I like the Sheraton personally
Can you review the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson ES-355?
Yeah, those are some pretty prices mods. I’d just get a new guitar.
Closest match video so far... Sound exactly alike.. I'm a sucker for aesthetics so I'd do for the cooler Sheraton headstock
Could you do an opinion on the 1966 Epiphone Century James Bay model? I ve bought that one and being a novice/ begining intermediate I'm curious what an experienced player thinks
Always dug the Sheraton...except, why did they not continue the fret markers? Looks kinda incomplete.😮
Anyway...my friend let me try his Sheraton. His had a huge neck profile. Super thick. Guessing the new ones are more modern in profile?
Gotta admit, black and gold is always a looker eh?👍😎
👍😎❤🖖
Love brother
Agreed. And personally I think the 335 missing the first fret inlay looks a bit off as well.
How would you compare the es-335 with an Ibanez as73 and the Sheraton with an as93?
I actually haven't had a ton of time with the Ibanez guitars so its hard to say, except I will say that based on my limited experience and friends I know who have them, the Ibanez will stand up to just about anything. They're really well built guitars.
@@JackFossett allright, thanks man. Think I might grab an as93 then.
Merci 🙂
what is the difference between the Sheraton, the Sheraton 2, and Sheraton 2 pro ? 😥😅
I like both personally but the Sheratons pick guard looks funky to me.
personally like how it follows the contours of the body better
Not a fan- I made one from black/white/black pickguard material to the shape of a 335. It just looks better, not like an amoeba. Love and kept the 'E' however!!
Hey Jack i have an ebony ebony 2012 mik awesome loved your vid
I notice you top wrap both guitars. Thoughts?
From Leo: I think the Es & the Sheraton are close enough I would have one or the other, but not both. You are right, the es335 hardware is pretty marginal. I just got rid of my last Semi hollow Epiphone. I traded them after getting a Peavey JF-1, which I like better even though the specs and the price would not say it. I just like the feel and sound of the Peavey better. Of course when I want to use a trem, the Gretsch jumps in.
Why do the fret markers stop at the 15th fret on the Sheraton? It just looks weird.
Great review.
Glad you enjoyed it! How have you been?
Doing very good. Staying busy.
Id like to mention Dax Riggs, he has ALWAYS played a cream or white Sheraton since at least the mid 90s, and has some great guitar tones. He also has used the ES-335 around 2006 i believe, it didnt sound exactly the same no but it sounded just as good.
Excellent video! Thanks!
Do both these models have an identical centre block?
