Thank you very much. I thought my ears didn't work because I heard "aar" but I didn't found this pronunciation in any course. Now I know I am not incapable, it's your language totally crazy. I love it and I love your videos.:-)
'British English' doesn't exist, only English. 'Britain', England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales has four different languages amongst those countries. Hence why there is only English of England. Google/the US made up British English. The source is English, and only failed attempts need a modifier word prior to differentiate their 'English'.
This video fit like a glove to me! I had Googled it some days ago and I didn't find anything about this subject. And this morning when I open my UA-cam app I see this video at my face as recommended. I don't know if I am happy to understand that Google is watching every single step that I do on internet or I freak out. Anyway, thanks for the video. I love it.
@speakenglishman! Hi it was really helpful. I am a teacher and have always been confused about this word. Would you plz help with the pronunciation of 'hour' as well? Plz!
In the North East, we say ou-ah, not ou-arr pretty much 100% of the time. To be fair though, we aren't a good representation of the general english accent.
Yes, you can pronounce them the same way even when they are next to each other. However, 'are' can also be pronounced two ways. When it is unstressed it is pronounced ə (like 'a'). So in your example we might say wɒ.tə.(r)ɑː. (We can use the consonant sound /r/ to connect the two words.) You should try my course: www.speakbritishenglish.academy
Finally, someone teaching correctly, even with a music example! However, whenever I hear someone say "OUR" with a W, it makes me cringe. It is OUR (ouuur), like it's spelled. Fantastic channel.
yeah, first advice to everyone is to learn all possible pronunciations of auxiliary words and pronouns like our, of and such; strong and weak pronunciation.
As a native English speaker having an existential crisis, this was very helpful.

Great job bro by bringing up the examples 👍👍 and explaining it nicely, because I have been using both pronunciation as I think both are correct

So sir, what's the difference in pronunciation of Our and Hour
Same pronunciation, but 'our' can also be pronounced like 'are'.
Excellent video,thanks!
this was so interesting to watch thank you. what about when our comes before a word that starts with a vowel? for example "our eyes"
Good question! We use the consonant sound /r/ to connect /ɑː/ to other vowels. Your example would be pronounced ɑː.rʌɪz.
@@SpeakBritishEnglishTV oh wow! thank you for replying back. :)
And what if the next word is starting with a vowel? For e.g, online where o is a vowel.
The phrase 'our online' is pronounced /ɑː.rɒn.lʌɪn/ or /aʊə.rɒn.lʌɪn/.
Thank you so much.
British accent is pretty nice! I have a question about the correct pronunciation of word "because".
What is your question?
@@SpeakBritishEnglishTV Hello from Brazil. My question is: How to pronounce "because"? beCAUSE or BEcause. I mean the stress.
@@rogeriacatto5633 The stress is always on the second syllable: bɪˈkɒz / bɪˈkəz.
“Cuz” ?

Which pronunciation of these two should we use when we start a sentence with 'our ' ?
Native English speakers use both pronunciations. It doesn't matter where in the sentence the word is located.

I think ‘are’ is way less classy though. I noticed all the educated individuals said it differently
No, that's not true. Note the examples given in this video.
i pronounce it more like "or"
Where are you from?
Denmark so English is my second language I've just heard people pronounce it like "or" so that just what I've been doing the whole time I guess
'or' = ɔː (like 'awe', 'oar' and 'ore')
'our' = aʊə (like 'hour') or ɑː (like 'are' and 'R')
