I would like to start off by saying that this is not something that everyone will need to buy for their mower. I know that most people do not baggings grass (me included) unless absolutely necessary. This grass catcher is however a great tool to have for your mower if there are no other factory options available. What I mean by that is for smaller machines and deck sizes there may not be a bagger option to have a blower motor with tube and bag holders available for your machine. I know Toro only came out with a bagging option in 2018 for the larger Toro Grandstand models.
If you own any brand walk behind mower, smaller stand on mower or even have a zero turn that you only need to bag something with occasionally, this is a great option in my opinion. This is a well built bagger that offers the bonus of weight savings from the aluminum design. Let's look at the Pros and Cons to see if that helps clarify some things.
Pros:
Good Quality
Lightweight
Upgradeable
Good If There Is No Other Bagging Solution
Ideal For Bagging Grass
Cons:
Expensive
Dusty In Dry Conditions
Small Capacity Compared to Large Bagging Solutions
Not The Best For Leaves

Chop them first, then bag second time. Holds more and goes faster
Yes! That is a good plan. It is just that sometimes when there are not as many leaves on the ground that may not be as efficient. I definitely use that technique, it works best when the leaves are dry.
I have a similar metal bag on my gravely 34" compact pro. I used corrugated poster board cut to size loosely attached with doubled up twist ties to eliminate dust in the face. Works great. Ive had the same material on the bag for well over 500 hrs. Im looking for a bag for my 52" toro multiforce without going with the toro system. To expensive for me right now.
I bought one of these catchers for my 36" deck stand behind Exmark mower yesterday June 30 2020. To say I'm impressed is an understatement only issue I had with it was the pin to lock the rear door in place fell out letting the door hang open allowing grass cuttings to fall out. I would like to see a more secure clip style latch - two of them would be even better.
I agree, the pin for the door is not the best solution. I would probably say something like making it similar but with some sort of retention. I don’t want the door to be too difficult to get open with one hand since it will need to be opened and closed frequently.
I'm thinking something like this would work www.amazon.ca/POWERTEC-20307-Latch-Action-700-Pound-Number-431/dp/B00IMPLHRK/ref=asc_df_B00IMPLHRK/?tag=googleshopc0c-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292944199160&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7220253511023096674&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001484&hvtargid=pla-433942484336&psc=1
I have bounced over tree roots, bounced over dried ruts, the catcher fell off the deck and never has the door pin ever come out. what you can try is this. raise the door half way and give it a slight twist, when you close the door you will have to push on one side to get the pin in. that should hold it with out the need for some fancy clip that will rust and break.
I just sold my stander 36i, and threw it in to sweeten the deal. Instantly regretted it. Now I have to buy another one for my new ZK ☹️
i had an old canvas tarp laying around and made patterns, cut out the canvas and covered all panels except the rhs (even the back door). attached with 3/16 pop rivets. cost almost zip and works like a champ. no problem packing with leaves even with the fw15 and high lift blades. or on a 52'" stander.
That sounds like a good idea!
I have the jumbo Accelerator bag for my Scag Tiger Cat 2. 52". Yes, its expensive, but it will literally vacuum the yard. When using it for leaves I chop, chop, chop, then bag. It fills quickly. Only downside is its super dusty as our poster said.
You can literally order any Accelerator grass catcher? Can I have your part number that you have??
The one that i purchased is #GCTOSU from Jacks Small Engine. You must know what mower you want to put it on and order based on that. They offer different sizes such as standard, and jumbo or whatever they call it.
Does it rub the rear wheel? That’s insane that it works I’ve always been told It never works.
Wow those welds are shitty
Just ordered this in XL for a JD 652R MOD after reading reviews on grass catchers ..
Awesome! Hopefully you like it. It is definitely a handy item to have. If you don't plan to do a lot of bagging grass all the time. If you use it for work, you can just slip it on and off when you need it and don't have to worry about all the extra moving parts that most commercial mower baggers require
Dude just keep it u never know if ur zero-turn may go down and you need a backup all your machines you should definitely have a collection system or a bagger for it
If I was bagging grass I think this would be a feasible option. If you were looking to use it for leaves it it's just too small in size. Even my large zero term with two big bags is not ideal but it's still better than this for leaves
Can you get them for the scag liberty Z mate ,jimmy Australia
You need to confirm on the manufacturers website. I believe they make them for all major manufacturers
I have almost 2 acres of lawn. This thing looks tiny. Looks like I'd be dumping this every 2 passes.
This is definitely a more compact solution. For two acres of lawn I would probably recommend something much larger. However they do make units slightly larger than this one that can hold more. A full sized bagger like I have on my Zmaster is about $3,000 vs the $400 for the Accelerator.
I've now installed them onto my 36" deck stand behind ExMark and 48" deck walk behind Husqvarna they work great even picks up maple leaves and branches.
Thanks for sharing!
I have a 2016 Toro titan zx5400 54 in deck and the chute discharge is different than yours haven t had any luck finding ine for mine :(
The catcher will work with the turbo force decks. I am not familiar with the discharge side of the Titans. I am sure since they are a newer mower that it may take some time for them to develop and release one.
do you find as the catcher fills up does your deck tilt out of level?
I dont think it does that. It should not be able to pull itself out of level because of the way the chains hold the deck. if that makes any sense to you.
Can you still have your flap attached? Might be a deal breaker for me if I can't somehow keep my flap still on the machine so I don't have to take a wrench to it to put the flap back on. .
In the video I show exactly how I made a small modification to make it work with the GrassFlap
yeah I saw that mod, great idea. I am getting a Wright velke so I will have to see how it's implemented on that machine. How is your Toro stander on hills? Curious about that. I have a steep front hill and opted for a WB for that reason.
@@jc51373 the smaller Toro grandstand does not do as well on hills as the larger units. The wheels are just not spaced out enough but I have used it on several hills frequently and it can be done it's just not as reliable at holding the hill.
good to know thanks..I looked hard at the Stander X and had a great deal on it but turned it down because there is just no way to know how it would work on my hill.
Informative vid as always. We've made the switch to Toro & you're becoming my go to whenever I need to know something
I appreciate the support!
Gotta pick this up and can it be powdercoated red?
I don’t think they offer a powder coating option. Not sure that would be worth the extra money.
Capacity?
you can refer to their website on capacities. It varies depending on what size unit you buy.
Ive used the same corregated poster board to cover the holes in my gravelys metal bag. Tighter to were you dont want airflow and loosely were you want air to flow out. Use zip ties or even twist ties. Check holes for build up often. Cut and position to direct dust and debris away from oparator. Works great
Nice! Thanks for sharing!
Picture?
@@Jimw82 I'll try posting some at some point
Which chute blocker do you have on there?
Shoot blocker on the mower is made by Grass Flap
Hmm would a rubber spray underneath reduce the noise?
I dont know what noise you are referring to.
Rattling ?
It may make some noise when you set it on the ground or something but when its on the mower the engine and blades are far louder than anything else. Plus after thinking about it you probably would not want to put rubber on the bottom as sometimes it drags the ground on uneven terrain and that may cause it to get stuck and cause damage.
i want one of these but why are they $ 400 + $80 import tax and 120$ shipping ?
Sounds to me like you live outside of the U.S. that is probably why there are extra costs.
When it’s full of grass does make the cut uneven?
That is a good question. No it does not. The deck is floating on chains so the weight from the grass catcher can not pull one side down any more than the other. Plus it does not hold so much grass that the weight is a huge factor. It is not like a zero turn bagger where you need front weights to counter balance the machine.
Keep it don't sale
Already sold! I no longer have the grandstand and I have a full sized bagger for my Z Master already.
Save 300-400 bucks!!! Specially if your only using sometimes!!!! GRASSPACKER!!! Lmao it looks like a trash can. It’s made out of some kind of plastic/Polly. But trust me it’s tough! Had mine 3+ years and only has some scratches and dirt on it. Holds as much as this one ☝️ just look it up. Thank me later.
I dont know how you would save $300-$400 the price differences are not that far apart. Grasspacker was listed at $380, this unit cost me about $450 with tax. Also depending on your mower the Accelerator may be a better option. As in my case I have Toro Mowers and the grass catcher works on both units with no modification to the mowers. It will actually fit on almost all of the commercial deck mowers from Toro. I am not a fan of having to drill holes into the mower deck if it is not absolutely necessary. The grass packer is another option that I was not aware of. Thanks for sharing!
Scott Walker some of those bags run upwards of 600 bucks. The jumbo one. When I got the packer a year or so ago I’m almost positive I paid close to 300 cause the black steel one at a dealer near me was 350 and the packer was cheaper. I had one of those. I didn’t like the way I had to open it all the way to remove the lid. And t he little pin at the bottom would pop out of the hole if I hit a bump. So I found the packer. The bungee holds it closed and doesn’t come off. You do have to drill two small holes. But if you changed your mind later and never used it again it wouldn’t change anything about the airflow. If your ocd it might drive you nuts everytime you look at the deck. The way the deck is on the Ferris you would have to drill regardless.
Mulch that crap up
