Great to see our good friend Trev at the flying field ! It's been a long 6 months since we saw him last. After a hard days work he turns up at the field to try out his electrified 74" wingspan PilotRC Slick. Does the electric conversion beat a petrol/gas engine in this case?
NOTE: NEITHER PILOTRC OR MACGREGOR ARE SPONSORS OF THE ESSENTIAL RC UA-cam CHANNEL. THE AIRCRAFT DEMONSTRATED WAS PURCHASED WITH TREV'S OWN HARD EARNT CASH !

I have this model, went from gas (dle35) to electric. Electric destroys the gas for 3d and freestyle due to the torque curves and just reliable power on tap. The petrol lasted longer in the air of course.
I have a SU26 which I first flew on 40cc gas and after a crash modded it to 10s electric. Electric power has a clear advantage over gas: it's the delivery. The thrust is there instantly in any situation. But on the other hand, the weight gain did not do the plane any good. As Trevor mentioned on this one too, it gets difficult when going slow and high alpha.
My favourite 3D plane is still the small Addiction X 🙃
Sweet flight thanks for sharing 🏁😎
Great flying!.
Will be interesting to see the second video for the comparison. Great plane thou.
The Trev. "Some say his hair is made of pure silver which costs too much money" So why does he have it that way? Well.. Because he's worth it. 🤣
That’s a slick Slick! I’d take it with a 50cc petrol though 😆👍🏻
More like 30cc to 40cc. These planes are incredibly light. The 50cc planes are like 85” span.
Yes this is the spot, facplace I get in to STUFF!!
ESSENTIAL RC WHAT'S HAPPENING
I’m convinced to convert 5 gas planes to electric. Thank You for the video.
electric has its place for wicked torque and instant power. but until the flight times are up with my gasser at 12-15mins of hard flying ill keep the electric to 60" below 3d planes and foamies
Красивые штаны!
I have a 73" edge 540. I use 2 5000mah 5s batterys to create 10s which works completely fine
For instant power electric is best.
Beautiful hair🤣
I know. I wish I had hair like that 😆
😂 2:50 uses hand to shade his eyes while his perfectly good hat is worn backwards.
😎
🤷
I'm not sure about a petrol being lighter. A 35cc petrol engine is around 1200g, 600g tank with fuel and plumbing, 50g throttle servo, 150g RX pack = 2000g. Brushless motor 700g, ESC 150g, 2x 6s 3300 1100g, BEC 50g = 2000g. Sure that's with a full tank but we all start a flight with a full tank!
What size packs are you using
What motor/prop/esc did he use? Thanks
Is it really that much weight difference? Gas engine is chunk of metal plus tank with gas weights something too. For electric is only two lipos 🤷♂️
Whats that noise? The fuel pump?
Digital servos buzzing I suspect. Normal for them to do that.
Electric is always better.
Ehhhhhh....
It's a different experience, each to their own
Not really.
@@mrbigg7255 The Amps and milliamps are magical :)
