Who do you think is going to win the TCR? 👇
James Jinks you got this!
KIWI !
Global Cycling Network the guy on the Brompton I think he has a shot it’s a shot in the dark like but a shot nonetheless so bringing come Brompton man didn’t pay attention to names
Katherine Moore Chaz is one cool dude. He's from my home town and I'm pretty sure he normally rides with a friend of mine. So he and Nico have my vote!
Everyone is a winner at the end of the TCR... who gets first there ... ¡? I hope a woman... (Anna ? I think Lael Wilcox is ridding, maybe her?)
The Brompton dude is just going to fold it and hop on a train 😂
So you assume that he will pull a Dan Lloyd? :)
🤣
Katherine is an excellent and relaxed interviewer, really enjoyed this film, going out on my bike now, thank you
Enjoy your ride Tui!
I did thanks !
And she's cute!
She s fantastic!
Chas and Nico are so charismatic and such legends!
But the most important bit was Anna Petters message at the end - people should take that to heart.
They are a brilliant pair. Anna Petters was also really touching, she should be an inspiration to everyone!
Absolutely agree on this!
I'm as gay as the night is long, but I'd definitely go straight for Chas. He is soooooooo awesome. Yep, I have a bit of a crush on him :)
Guy with the Brompton, best of luck to him
Pretty impressive!
Now I wanted to do TCR on one...
He must have a lot of patience and love for his bike, I can’t even imagine myself in his shoes in an ENDURANCE Race. O_O
guy rouge Typical that he's British, haha. We are a funny bunch.
You mean bonner shorts guy?
I’m not even at the end of this video, but 256 all the way!!! C’mon lads.
That aside, another fantastic video for Katherine. Natural.
McStoolio 256 ftw 🙌
The greek guy is on a Hercules? Love it
I never thought I'd see the day that Chas ends up on a GCN video. Absolute legend - watching him and the other Mash riders is why I started riding bikes!
I hope the brompton makes it ! That front chainring looks as big as a frisbee! Great show. The diversity of bicyclists never ceases to amaze ! We are a weird and wacky lot ! 💀
You can follow them here: www.transcontinental.cc/
I agree with Anna. I did TCR No 5 last year. Most people are kind and will treat you with respect.
Chantal Coolsma absolutely! How was it?
Tough. Finished it in 19 days 20 hours 48 minutes I believe. Too late for the party. CP3, CP4 and the finish were officially closed, but I just wanted to finish it. Will be back in the future and ride faster.
Impressive stuff and best of luck for TCRNO7?
Why dont more Women want to do it? Well you have to try and cycle 4000km in two weeks.... That's probably the reason most say F### that!
I love the diversity of bikes here; it reflects the diversity of cycling. more of that plz
I really love the variety of videos and genres of road biking that you guys are covering. Keep it up
Thanks Eli, we're really glad to be able to cover more different things now!
Not too worried about who wins as I have upmost respect for all the competitors. Oh to be young again !
Ted Edwards most of the winners from these kinds of races are relatively old
Fantastic video as always!
The stories and setups of the riders are so fascinating and amazing! Hats off to Katherine and the participants of the TCR.
Love the variety of not just riders but bikes! So much innovation going on.
Pretty cool eh Chris! We saw a fair few HED Belgium+ rims and Canyon seatposts, but no stand-out domination in terms of kit choice.
Global Cycling Network interested to see how the mess rats get on. Keen to get some more info on their dyno hubs, tech has come along way from what my dad has on his tourer!
Hahaha the accent of the first guy🤣 he has a really authentic Dresden accent..
It's weird he's from Dresden because the accent almost has a Danish lilt to it - I would have guessed close to the border, definitely not Dresden !
C345 OFR Guy from Dresden here, listen how is not pronouncing hard consonants, like in depends. He says debends.
Is this something Danish people do? (Really don‘t know)
Everything about this was awesome! Interesting characters, amazing bikes, great stories. Great interviewer and good shots with the camera, kudos GCN! Want more of this, please keep the coverage!!
Loved seeing all the riders and their bikes. Great stuff, hope to see more!
"...carry as little as I can but as much as I need" Brilliant!!
Thank you for that glimpse of participants and their equipment. I would have watch through to the end had you chosen to interview all the riders. Their stories, their bikes, motivations and ingenuity are endlessly fascinating. Keep up the great coverage.
Glad you found it an interesting as us!
This is my dream, I shall do something like this one day, it just seems such great fun!
Great to have some attention given to these amazing riders and their bikes. Hoping for a lot more of videos as the race proceeds.
May all the competitors achieve their goals and most importantly stay safe and well.
Cheers Carrie! There's more here gcn.eu/TCRNO6 and another one on GCN Tech tomorrow!
Excellent! I really enjoy meeting the individual riders and hearing the stories. It makes "following the dots" much more meaningful. In fact, a Part II with more riders would be heartily welcomed. Well done Katherine. I appreciate your unpretentious approach and your gift for insightful interviewing. More, please.
Hey Michael, thanks for watching. These riders are 'top brass'. We've got an interesting insight with current leader and 2017 winner James Hayden coming tomorrow on GCN Tech, hope you'll enjoy that too.
This was a very good piece. I never heard of this event. The interviews that you did with the riders from different places around the world were fun to watch. Especially with the two from San Francisco, close to where I live. Truely a International event. I'll stay tuned to GCN for race updates.
Thanks razz, really glad you enjoyed this one
Love this video, so great to see the equipment used for these types of events. It's also great that the riders seem so normal (despite being superhuman!)
They're an incredible bunch, some great insights if you follow #TCRNO6 on instagram
I just want to say I loved this coverage and I really enjoy all the GCN team. Great work!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
As Swede I say Anna Petters! Thanks GCN and Katherine you are a perfect presenter! The sparkle in your eyes for bike riding sport are amazing!
Petinka Anna was so inspiring, her attitude to the race was incredible and following her Dot and Instagram updates it looks like she's going very well indeed! K
It is special to see riders that I met on TCR giving interviews :) Also that corner where there was bike check by mechanics on both TCR5 and TCR6
Thanks Katherine for putting together this great intro - a great journalistic insight to get to know some of the participants. It would be great to get to know all these heroes. Would be good to list all the introduced people so we can dot watch them more effectively
Loving this wider look at the cycling landscape
Another great video from Katherine!
Katherine's videos are always awesome. Super informative!
Wishing safe travels for all the racers, and I look forward to keeping track of the racers progress.
Cheers Zipp
These videos gave me the butterflies in my stomach. I really wish one day I can join this kind of journey.
wow #158 great custom jobbies
Good luck to everyone doing the TCR. Be safe out there!! Hats off to everyone..
I never heard about this race, but it's beautiful!!! Thanks for this video and hope more videos about this race and tech packing and bicycles!! 🖒
Coming right up, there's more tomorrow and this one too! gcn.eu/TCRNO6
Global Cycling Network suuuper !!
That is the sickest Trek Checkpoint I've ever seen!
Awesome video, and amazing presenting... Great to see Katherine in another video.
Thanks Stephen
Cool video. Easy interviews with great information. Thanks ;
I used to live with Chas in PDX. He always rides with heart. Good idea with the dynamo hub. :)
Amazing event, definitely one for "the crazies"
Nico Deportago-Cabrera is off of a red bull bike messenger documentary. So dope! He’s a good fixie rider :)!
Favorite CGN video so far.
I thought I recognized Nico Deportago-Cabrera! He's that hardcore bike messenger on another UA-cam video. It's nice to see him competing in the TCR. Good luck to all of you. Ride safe. Have fun. :)
Nico is a boss! He and Chas make a cracking pair.
Yeah. It was awesome seeing him. Kudos to him for also doing the Dirty Kanza a few years back with Kymnonstop on a single speed.
And this year singlespeed for Nico!
this is super cool to cover other kinds of events. doing it on a brompton is mad and awesome! I mean it's hard enough on a regular road bike.
We were really excited to be there! Have been avidly following the dots too.
The bike around the 4:15 mark is a real beauty - even more amazing that it's handmade. Would love a more in-depth look at it, preferably w/o all the luggage/stickers.
Kath you are a natural. Great interviews and most importantly very interesting indeed.
Please do a video on the Front-hub Dynamo and charging systems that are possible !
I'm doing the TCR next year with a bike made by my mate Stan(big shout out to him) in a shed at his allotment. It's made from recycled copper water pipes from my local plumber(big shout out to him) modified with a hydroelectric power plant to charge my Di2 and tied together with natural hemp. My Grandmother Eileen(big shout out to her) has knitted me some bike bags and a 2 sizes to small jersey out of my late Grandfathers jumpers... All I need now is to grow a beard and get some pork pies for fuel....reckon I'll be cooler than anyone at this year's race😂 Seriously though, great feature GCN👍🏻
Very cool info. Katherine is so natural in front of a camera.
👍
No sock length bullshit with these dudes. 💪💪💪. Great stuff 👍👍
The presenter has done an awesome job in this video and the dirty kanza.
Awesome, great interviews with great people...money’s on the brit with the Brompton ;)
Definitely! They're all inspiring in different ways.
Awesome video! Thanks.
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed this one
Great coverage. Nice and relaxed. Love the dynamo hubs: It's like perpetual, solar power on wheels without the power of the sun.
Dynamo hubs are a total game changer for events like these!
Thank you. Will look into getting one. Love how you provide the links for all the products. Thx
# 2 looks determined to win. 256 A and B will never run out of light - at least. Luck to the ladies - very brave.
Why not cover the Paris-Brest-Paris next time GCN?
That's a cracking shout!
Love this idea.
Good, Audax doesn't get much love.
See you there!
Totally... and isn’t bjorn lenhard, first interviewed person, a current record holder of pbp?
Fantastic. Fantastic .Fantastic
This Dresden-specific accent is absolutly impressive. Like how did he learn english without loosing any of it. Greetings from a Dresdener
Dang ! A Brompton? I hope you bought him a pint !
When he gets to Greece!
Pretty impressive, eh?
Interesting, I always thought Hercules was a German brand, probably because there were so many Hercules bikes around in Germany when I was a kid...also nice to see that the riders of this race don't always have/need/want the latest and greatest gear, shows you can have fun on a bike with a Tiagra groupset :)
ah, just did some googleing, there is actually a German brand of the same name :) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hercules_(motorcycle)
Glad to see a Cube Agree competing. I love Cube.
Fantastic!!
Bromptons are sick! I need one
Fantastic !
Chas and Nico: LEGENDS!
Would like to ride this Race just because of these nice cycling caps
Everything is just.......................Fantastic! 😂😂😂
these are the real life crazies , strong , independent and able to survive in any situation ( unlike the average sheep you meet on a day to day basis ) , you cant help but admire these folk can you :)
He has fun every time he rides his brompton....? I know how he feels. Good luck to all💪🏿
anymore coming about the transcontinental that we can expect? this was brilliant btw!
Steven White check out GCN Tech later on
I want to join the TCR! Maybe someday.
This looks like such an exciting adventure, I wish that I could do something like this.
On my bucket list.
I know someone doing it (192) so been watching them everyday but now i im gonna be watching so many more people
Awesome. It's always more fascinating once you know a bit more about the people behind the cap numbers!
11:59 are those old style TA cranks? Plus Campag shifters but Shimano derailleur?
Good luck!!
FANTASTIC!!!
Thanks
that guy attempting on the folding bike (brompton?) is a rock star. gesus that must be impossible to ride that thing long distances.
Rene (158) is the man! I love the hacks! Give this man a feature on the show!
So clever eh? And he came 5th I think! Katherine
FANTASTIC..!!!!
THANKS
The dude from Germany! Is so innovative 👍🏻
Gotta go with 256 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I cheer for American riders in the Tour, so I gotta root, root, root for the gents from Chicago and San Francisco!
Robb Chastain for sure haha. I really like Sagan and Froome but I definitely follow Finney
Robb Chastain and Haga
no love for Tejay :(
I'm from the UK but 256 are for sure the coolest happiest riders, they get my vote!
Yooooo mash SF represent!!
Juliana is in the background that's awesome
Sweet best vid yet
Thanks Mason
Presenter is smooth. Very good
Fantastic
Andrethetiny Glad you enjoyed it!
Ok this was fantasic ... why not do it again in 2019
Next year :D
soo cool
Can we have a video about what’s in their bags and what’s required for them to bring? I’m new to this type of racing.
You might like this one gcntech.co/haydentcr
GCN presenters are getting so young and beautiful ! Katherine is my new favorite!
I hope you all travel to the Philippines
Well done Katherine!!!
Cheers
Great report Katharine! Loved that you asked why there are a lack of women on the race.
Cheers Ian 👍
11:04 that baby is having a rad time
What was that Swedish ladie’s bike though? That drive train was classic.
German guy's bike was the coolest!
Agree with this
Such a cool video.
Cheers Ben
