Thank you Dave that's very thoughtful and I'm glad you enjoyed the build. Haha yeah I remember asking my dad why I couldn't shoot lightening (I didn't know what lasers were at the age of 5) out the end of the barrel and find ghosts? :) so my folkes arranged a birthday party where all my friends dressed up as ghosts instead. I kept that pack for 30 years, every house move it stayed with me. I'm happy to know so many people had the same experience back in the 80s and it's wonderful to hear your thoughts. All the best to you
Wow, to restore and improve on your childhood toy with such passion, dedication and outright ingenuity is purely a treasure to watch and I can imagine to still have. Those emotions that were given to you in your childhood are kept alive with this demonstration of love. Awesome job!
That is such a kind comment thank you for that, i'm thrilled you and others got that tone from this project, it's exactly why I wanted to do it :) It just means a great deal to hear it from others who have something similar to relate to. I sincerely appreciate the feedback and wish you the very best
@@KieranMeadows It is my pleasure, I indeed can relate and as well am sentimental about my childhood toys, and as such I too try to either improve or preserve them as much as I can, though not as masterfully as you. This world would be a better place if everyone would hold to such precious clean memories of innocence and feed from them and to the world in general. You seem to be a great individual and I hope others are able to absorb your awesomeness to spread it around to make a better life. Keep it up and keep on making great stuff :)
This completely blew my mind! I wish I was that talented to build such a thing. I still have my childhood proton pack. Although it doesn't exactly fit anymore lol. I remember throwing it off my back because it was going to "overheat" and explode lol. I think that only happened once in the cartoon that I can remember. The green laser reminds me replacing the yellow foam "stream" with the green squiggly stream that came with another kenner GB toy. Forgot what it was called. Very awesome build, I enjoyed watching it come together.
This is both incredibly awesome and soul-crushing. It's incredibly awesome because this is the best _Real Ghostbusters_ proton pack I've ever seen. It's soul-crushing because I have two of those '80s toy proton packs and there's no way I'll ever be able to make them into anything even a fraction as cool as this.
That's really kind to say and I appreciate the support. It looks far more complicated that it is for sure, if you wanted any help I'm always happy to answer questions if you're looking to build something like this. It does require some basic electronics tools but Adafruit have some great cheap products to make the lights and sounds with step by step tutorials that pointed me in the right direction. I'll share all that info if you're interested. Send a wee message on www.kieranmeadows.co.uk and I'll keep in touch.
I wouldn't be able to modify or change my original pack from when I was a kid. I want to keep it the way I remember it.i would just make a whole new pack from scratch rather than alter something that is irreplaceable.
If I had one of those as a kid I would have gone berserk! This is an awesome build and a lot of work/love went into this! I wish I could build in a laser pointer in my spengler wand! Great work!
A Great and awesome work, so cool to have a Real Ghostbuster proton pack, I remember not missing a single episode or can't Remember, I Was to young to keep track of them, Blessings Bro!..
Amazing, beautiful work you've done there. Could you imagine having that when you were 5? I always wanted a Proton Pack from 12 years old (back in 1984 when I saw GB for the first time). Got one now, but its been a long wait.
Me to :) just takes the time to learn, I'd never used any electronics before this project. But check out Adafruits website - learn.adafruit.com/ lots of cool projects to get started with
Take a bow! That, sir, is a thing of beauty. My old kenner pack has seen a lot of play over the years, 1st with me, then with my son, so it's seen better days. I wish I had the skills to do what you've done.
It takes a lot of time yeah, but it always seems more complicated until you know how. If you have questions about the electronics and how it operates just send an email with a question and I'll help out
I salute you good sir on this amazing and nostalgic UPGRADE build , , always loved that damn cartoon, , some of the episodes could be screenplays for full on movies themselves , good ones that would've been more entertaining than "GB-Afterlife" , sheesh , , ,yes very certain "EGON RAMIS" would be proud of how well you did this , , , so we'll done , ,makes me jealous 😋 all you need to do now is get your buddies together and craft an old motorcycle to look as close as possible to that Mini-Helicopter ECTO-2 , , , ,👍👍👽
Im jealous. This is exactly what I always wanted/imagined my toy as a kid to be like lol. Same with the P.K.E meter and Ghost trap etc. I was fortunate at the time to have it all back then. Luckily I grabbed a Haslabs pack and wand and am thinking about grabbing another set or 2 to possibly resell.
Scalper, huh? How about you just buy one and don't deprive someone else of being able to because you want to scalp one for a ridiculous price. C'mon man
Wow, just..wow, amazing job mate. Damn, id send you my old kenner back to mod if it looked like that, id commision it in a heartbeat!..incredible work. I love how you took the kenner original and built around it.
Thank you for getting in touch and for your kind support, it means a great deal. So very glad you enjoyed the video and appreciated the project. Very best to you
Dear Kieran, every day I wake up and look at a new proton pack - this has got to be the best one I’ve seen so far. The creativity is mind blowing - so how is it you only have so few subscribers!? I subbed anyway! Jim

Took Me Back in the 80's because that Proton Pack Toy was giving me by my Parents I think around Christmas Time. But I lost it Somehow in a Storage. :( But Anyway, Great Job Updating. I would like to have one for Halloween Because I'm Planning to wear one for This Year.
So glad to hear that man :) that toy meant a lot to me when I was a kid, it's nice to add something back to it 30 years later. Appreciate the comments! Best to you
Your lucky Superhero Movie Reactor, I grew up in a huge family, 6 of us, because money was tight, we were never able to afford these. I had to live through my friends who had them.
I'm in absolute awe at this. You've also made me hate myself. If I was capable of doing even a quarter of things you did in that video I'd be over the moon. My best creative achievement is making a smaller box out of a bigger cardboard box for something I sold on eBay. Anyway. Incredible job. You're so skilled!
@Tyco Zer0 Hey there, yeah so it's just EVA foam coated with body filler and sanded down. Some other parts were 3D printed but they could just as easily be done in foam for sure. But it's not going to be 'rock hard' you know, it's still foam underneath. The laser is just one of those cheap ebay laser pointers that are advertised as 'burning' lasers you know the ones. Just search something like 10000m 5mw High Power Military 303 Laser Adjustable Focal Length Green Burning Laser Pointers - its this one if the image links works images.app.goo.gl/eUpK4AB18VZPYGZK9
@Tyco Zer0 good for you! :) ask any questions you want or contact me direct through website, im happy to help. Yes I know what you mean about the loom tubes, bit stiff. So I use a yellow gardening hose, its thinner for sure but still not super flexible, seems to do the trick though maybe 3/4" thick yellow hose - images.app.goo.gl/Z1ruNcd9VEPry1xA9
@Tyco Zer0 I'm not certain what PowerPoint laser is, like just a simple pointer laser? It really want to be one of those high power long distance lasers that are advertised with it lighting a match stick. The cheap ones just dont show up bright enough. Plus I found green showed up better than blue lasers on camera.
