Oh Vera! Baby oil, a "device", your giggle ... priceless 😊😊😊😊
Oh Christian and Vera you two are fantastic , entertaining and you bring a smile to everyone 😂😃 just love your video blogs ,))) 🇬🇧
Education with innuendo 😆 Best video ever.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 that device was not designed for automobile use 😂 another great video, thanks.
You guys "crack me up!" very amusing, make me look forward to your weekly videos. Vera you are very patient with your Husband "playing" with your Disco....🤣🤞
When you change the transfer case oil be sure to recalibrate the clutches and the position sensor. This can be done with the GAP IID tool. The LR shop manual doesn’t include this step, but it it’s necessary with the electronic center differential or you’ll have issues with the diff partial locking in normal driving.
👍🙋♀️ Vera
Now I'm the first contributor to one of your videos, wow. My god, where do you come up with these maintenance needs? I found your inflatable tool hilarious, in the UK we have an expression 'blowing smoke up his/her arse', it means to falsely flatter someone and I couldn't help but think of this.
😅👍🙋♀️ Vera
I don't even own a Discovery. I friend needed a wheel bearing replaced so I do a youtube search.
Now I'm watching repairs on vehicles That I will never own! You two are GREAT!!!
😅😃👍🙋♀️Vera
Well done Vera, proud of you.
you guys are great🤗 all the best from down under
Love your videos your a great team and Comedy thrown in 👍
Brilliant & love your improvised smoke generator & plug device ;)
Cracking pins there Mrs Vera.
Good work Vera 🤛
Vera's Discovery is good for testing. 😂 A hug from Portugal.
You both are amazing. Hilariously funny, yet so to the point. Thank you so much for bringing a smile.
😃👍 You're welcome🙋♀️ Vera
👌👌👌👍.....Landrover time for Adults!
So good. Great video.
Just so funny. Great video. You guys are just so good together
Your laughter is infectious. Think I'll look for a plug on Amazon looks useful. And now complete change of heart and considering getting a D3 but maybe a V8 version.
The V8 is the 4.4 BMW unit. Not without its issues either 😬
you guys make the most entertaining videos.very funny and informative.Your sense of hummer is wicked.i love it.keep it up.As i have said before i used to have a 08 d3 which i think was the best car i have owner.cheers Greg in Oz
😃👍Thanks 🙋♀️ Vera
Another great video! I've no desire to own a D3 or D4, but love watching your videos on them!
😃👍 Having a good time when watching youtube is all that matters. Great that you enjoy our videos and hope you stick around 🙋♀️ Vera
Love your channel. I have learned so much, as in Australia the Ford Territory has the same 2.7L V6 Diesel.
Bit of a pain in the butt but got the desired results, great video you two love the content hilarious and informative.
That was lots of fun. Thanks. 👍🏻🙏🏽😷🦘
Very entertaining. Top marks again 👍
Weiter so!
Das ist das wichtigste 😅👍🙋♀️ Viele Grüße Vera
Your videos are a joy to watch and quite often Vera sees/understands things that you miss (air filter gasket) - delightful!
That is because I have the overall view 😅👍🙋♀️ Vera
Hi, C. V. I AM WONDERING ? if one can get addicted to baby oil smog ? inhalation of exotic smoke ? . The banter between you two must relieve the stress of L R ownership . Built and designed in Britain to occupy the minds of the rest of the world . Thanks for your video , keep calm and carry on .
You two guys, really had a good laugh at you two guys having a laugh at your new "tool" Keep up the good work..
You two are the best! A very enjoyable and practical video this week. I couldn’t stop laughing 😂 😂 😂
This is so funny! Love it😂😂❤❤
I Love Kristian and Vera, Jedi engineer, and Vera is amazing helping. You ate both absolutely hilarious too. The best channel on UA-cam, I don't even have a Disco, I have a Freelander 2, but I'm upgrading now! 😃
Thanks. We had a Freelander for 8 years. The LR3 is not an upgrade in all aspects 😬😳. The Freelander was extremely reliable. Christian
Another hilarious video, i actually cried laughing when Christian showed his plug as we had one explode on a drain test the other day.
Thankfully i just missed the resulting detonation of detritus, two lads didn't..
😅 Yeah, we have enough oil explotions anyways, so glad nothing happened during this take. 👍🙋♀️ Vera
Wer von Euch beiden kommt immer auf solche Ideen? :-) Es ist herrlich informativ, einfach fantastisch.
Immer der Christian 😅👍🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Liebe Grüße, macht weiter so.
Most hilarious and entertaining video yet 🤣
Danke schon Vera and Christian for your helpful, fun and inspiring videos. Bought a 2008 disco 3 tdv6 se a few months ago in excellent condition and loving it. A few issues here and there but nothing that I can't educate myself on through your videos though. Only remaining issue is the slight rev up and down, like a loss of power that occurs always between high 70,s and 80km/hr thats a bit irritating. If you put your foot down it goes away after 80kms. I have been advised that the gearbox needs a flush, transmission oil clean, but no guarantee though. Gruss aus Kapstadt. Oliver
Have you googled that issue on the Disco3.co.uk website ? We do not have any issues, but we'll do a transfergearbox flush and differential oil change soon on my Discovery3. 🙋♀️ Vera
C’est incroyable de génie 🧞♂️💪👍
I will be ordering that gasket, thank you for highlighting this.
I could not find a part number for the seal. Apparently it is not sold separately 🙄😩. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian Hi Christian, unfortunately this is so often the case with Land Rover . Try buying a bottom coolant hose on a D3. You have to buy the whole set. However I believe on a D4 you can buy a number of the hoses separately.
Good evening Vera and Christian. How much laughter on such a simple thing like a plug and baby oil 🤣 I can just see your face Christian when you put in the search engine rubber plug 😆😆😆😆 Love your videos guys & thanks for some Sunday evening entertainment. For Vera ❤️x
That was so funny. You two provide great content and entertainment. I've got to say that you are lucky in love Christian. A wife that can be so charming and change a Disco wheel to boot. Thanks Christian and Vera. X Pete UK.

German baby oil and plugs!! So very German, you guys crack me up so funny. Love your channel informative and fun.
Just the smoke generator was enough for the thumbs up. Now, that I picked up the popcorn bucket I'm ready to continue watching your video.
I must to edit the comment. OMG! The connecting tool, that made me take off my hat. If you want to get a better price on that tool you might find some on ebay (I haven't checked yet) but I'm concerned that they are a bit used, as there are a lot of Land Rovers out there.
It's all worth the money. I am actually assuming that others will come to our house now and have their car checked for leaks. 😅👍🙋♀️ Vera
Excellent very enjoyable
Great video, again! Got me up in stitches with your plug and baby oil. 😂😂😂
😅👍🙋♀️ Vera
That special purchase looks more like an exhaust device 👍😂
Good as always :)

Thank you 😃👍🙋♀️ Vera
Great video. Most of us landy nuts would never think of smoking our engines to find faults like this.
Check out this video ua-cam.com/video/pHYJsJb-tVQ/v-deo.html We used the smoke generator to findt the leak and fixed it. 😀👍🙋♀️Vera

How to turn your disco into a steam engine - part 1 .........
Excellent video - as always - thanks. I really do love your videos and watch every one.
By the way, turning the snorkel intake backwards should not affect the airflow, but will certainly stop pretty much all of the bugs getting in and clogging the air filter.
Seeing the wheel-change reminded me ... For info: PowerfulUK have just uploaded a video showing a modification to allow the opening of the tailgate from the inside. Not only good if you need to open the tailgate when you are inside, but also enables you to open the tailgate if the solenoid fails, which you cannot do otherwise - something LR really should have done from the start.
That already happened to us a couple of years ago, and Christian solved the problem with a hack / modification. Unfortunately long before we were making UA-cam videos.👍😃🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Christian can sort anything - he is a mechanical genius. But he needs you to keep him sane and his English correct 😉
Hahaa!! Brilliant. First I wondered about the baby oil, then Christian showed us his plug and I thought where's this going.......An idea about your air intake, surely the air entering the snorkel would be thinner as it enters at a higher altitude ;-) Well done with the wheel changes, impressive. Take care you two, can't wait until next week!
😅👍We'll be there🙋♀️ Vera
Another endearing, fun video! Thank you.
If you're looking for an idea for a future video, here's a quick and simple one: How to change the windscreen washer pump.
Dealer charges about 160 Euros to do this but parts only cost about 20 Euros. I could not find a video on how to do this (which is why I thought it might make good content)
I did the job last week and had to take off the front grille, headlamps, wheel guards and front bumper before I could remove the washer bottle to change the pump. Apparently, it can also be done if you simply remove the wheel arch liner and get to the pump from the back. Be interesting to know if that's true.
Sounds like a normal Discovery repair. Taking everything apart before you can actually start with the repair. 😅👍 I'll remember that for when we do not have any content. It really hurts when we have to fix something that is not broken, yet. 👍🙋♀️ Vera
Wunderbar!
Great hack and really had me laughing 😂, good Idea regards snorkel bypass I've been told thay reduce power due to air restrictions ,seems the air box is a weak point same on the D2 drain device fixed with silicone sealant
👍🙋♀️Vera
Truly one of the best. Thank you both.
Looking forward to the glow plug video. I’ve heard (worth some research of your own) that the plugs are easier to remove from a warmed engine (in spite of the complications of working with hot components) Cooling each plug with compressed air immediately prior to extraction decreases the likelihood of breakage. Though should one break it would be interesting to see how the conversation would go where Christian then has to explain to Vera that ‘her’ car must now go to the scrap yard… 😱 I feel the ‘bung’ could make a further appearance 😵💫
You are absolutely right. Christian explained in our last video ua-cam.com/video/Q8Q1vnPbQRw/v-deo.html at the very end how he got Fabians glow plugs out. Hot engine and air nozzle. We'll do it the same way on mine 👍😃🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Hahahahahah 🤦♂️ I knew I’d seen it somewhere! I’m sure you’re aware all D3 owners spend much of their time watching UA-cam for guidance on the ‘next’ problem. Hi from Australia🤟🇦🇺 You two are such good value, very entertaining. I bought one of those smoke testing plugs a year or so ago and it works great. I also made my own smoke machine from assorted 6 inch pvc pipe fittings, normally used for sewer access + inspection openings. I used an LPG gas bottle regulator as my ultra low pressure 0.5psi air control, and I use a normal air pressure regulator for checking for leaks that require higher pressures, like boost leaks etc. I also use baby oil, and a fibreglass wick from a garden mosquito lamp, wrapped with nichrome resistance wire. I bought a variable PWM voltage controller off eBay for $4 to control the supply voltage and current, which is a handy way to control the smoke output. I also fitted a pressure/vacuum gauge, and a floating ball manometer to my tank so I can monitor the tank pressure/vacuum and it also confirms when I have flow, and/or no leaks. The manometer also has a control valve so I can regulate air flow/volume before it goes into the tank... It's such a handy machine for all sorts of uses... I'm off to check my snorkel for leaks right now🤣👍🇦🇺
Wow, you got that machine build perfectly. I appreciate your attention to detail. It is surprising that there is no cheap Chinese smoke generator so far available. Only industrial well made systems are available here in Germany. Thanks and greetings to the other side of the planet. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian Hi Christian,
Here are 2 links below to a couple of short videos where I briefly showed my smoke machine whilst doing an intake leak check on a customers car. You'll see I also used a glove to block the throttle body..lol..it was before I bought the expanding pump plug🤣👍

I nearly fell out of my seat with laughter! Looks a bit strange to me too! You’re such a naughty girl Vera! 😂😂😂😂
As always sat here cackling with laughter 😂. Looking forward to your review of the TDV6, love this engine even though they snap tensioners off the oil pump, spin bearings and snap cranks..not happened to me yet🙏
We changed the oilpump, I think after 2 weeks of owning the car in 2016. Christian was really stressed since the weak point on the oil pump could have snaped at any time. And yes, that stuff will be also covered in the video. 👍🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Interested on Christians "Engineers" thoughts on cranks snapping and spun bearings. I spoke to a garage the other day that said it's worse on the Disco 4😱. Many theories but harmonic imbalance has come up in the past. My observation on the bearings is the route from the oil pump, to the filter housing back to the oil galleries on the crank causes a loss of hydrodynamic lubrication on start up for a couple of seconds but only Landrover are the ones who know the real cause.
@@caryknapton7233 Yes we think so too. The Disco 4 has the same engine core. So the weak points are still there, but much more power is brought out of this engine. But there is more to it, so there is a little bit more research to be done. 👍🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Well if anyone can research it and find a sound theory it will be Christian..
Oh Christian you're going to be the Butt of a few jokes now, still its good to plug on with getting these jobs done.... amazingly good video as always guys! I'm on my 5th week of LR3 ownership, this weeks fault is a bit weird, the AC blower fan makes loud screeching noises but only when I go round a corner, the tighter the corner, the louder the screech. It seems centrifugal force is somehow pushing the fan blades over or something. Have to drop the glovebox and find out what's loose maybe. Keep up the great work you two!
I found the fault. As soon as my wife complained her handbag was wet I saw the passenger footwell was wet! I've had this before on a Range Rover, so I found the (blocked) AC drain pipe, pulled it off and about 4 cupfuls of water came flooding out, the noise, it seems was all that water sloshing into the fan blades when we went round a corner! Not sure yet if I've unblocked it enough, we have no airline so had to use a wire coat hangar pushed down the tube, which hits something hard after about 7 inches (Heat shield?) Time will tell. At least with the Dubai heat the carpets. dry quickly.
Hi Vera & Christian, well done! Really enjoy your videos. I have a LR4 at the moment, but i noticed recently the idle was a bit hesitant and lumpy and a grey smoke seems a lot from the exhaust. I did the intake test and found smoke coming out a hole on the top of the plastic manifold where the oil filler cap sits (it’s got a bolt in the hole) and i was wondering could a air leak in the plastic manifold be causing the engine to be not so smooth and emit more smoke than normal from the exhaust. Thanks for any help. David
That's the most laughing I've done at any of your videos.. and I've laughed at them all👍
Vielen dank Christian und Vera. Ihr machen die besten Videos mit ihrem Discovery. Ganz wunderbar Bilder und Landschaften aus Deutschland in anderen Videos. Sorry, practicing my German. Very amusing! 😂
You Guys are so funny, i was crying with laughter with your new Amazon "Toy" PMSL 😂😂😂😂
The car gets all the attention😂👍
Vera is pretty strong for her size - definitely in great shape. You ought to try lifting 35" tires - another disadvantage to installing such large tires on a Jeep.
Yes, I always wonder how they do that. I mean even when the carry the spare tire on the roof on some overlanders. Getting it down is one thing, but getting it up again 😳. 😅👍🙋♀️ Vera
Vera has been watching too many specialised movies 😎
Brilliant Video Christian and Vera, many thanks! Please, can you give me an advise how to get to your intake plug tool? I am really lacking of fantasy to get the right keyword for an amazon search. By the way, your snorkel causes a pressure drop in your airpath of around 30mbar more or less. This is significant. A snorkel is, in principle, a NoGo for such a sensible and well balanced airpath. You need an additional inlet into your airbox and if you want to wade really some day you can close this inlet.

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode, so funny and informative at the same time 😊
Do you have the Landrover part number for the seal on the air intake pipe as I'm definitely replacing this one to begin with 😊👍
I could not locate this seal as a separate item 😩. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian Ah typical of Landrover, making us purchase the whole pipe 😢 Thank you for the reply Christian 😊👍
Now that I’ve stopped laughing, the reason for the increased fuel consumption is because all of the snorkel piping adds air resistance, decreasing the airflow slightly. And yes we do need snorkels in Australia!
Oh we don't doubt that you need snorkels. That is one reason we made a video about it because we know that we have a lot of viewers in Australia and South Africa where a snorkel is absolutely needed. We just put it on for content and for the looks of it. 😃👍🙋♀️ Vera
😂😂😂 pure genius! 👌
Nice work guys! 🤣🤣. Christian you wil soon be obsolete!
😅👍🙋♀️Vera
Thanks for another great video. Now I think I need to do this test on our D3, but on the other hand, I don't want to know if there are leaks as I will need to fix them.
The snorkel fuel consumption is interesting as I was going to fit one to our car. 0.8 is a pretty high loss. We were hit with a 0.9 increase with our new more aggressive tyres, so not keen on more loss in ecconomy.
The tires did not affect our gas consumption that much. We live in a hilly area so it's higher anyways, but the snorkel hit hard. But will I do a test run now facing the snorkel backwards. The Snorkel pointing forward will push more air through (like a ram air system) and the mass air flow sensor will see this and put more fuel in as a result. At least other viewers wrote this and it's worth a try. 🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian even try with no inlet hood?
We bought a 2011 Discovery 4 HSE landmark 5L V8 couple of months earlier. We love that car. Is it a Limited edition model ? And is it valuable than the HSE luxury?
Hi Vera and Christian
I think your high fuel consumption has something to do with the extra weight you are carrying and everything that is on the roof.
Love the channel keep it up.
Kind regards
Guy
No definitely not. We have had the roof setup way longer than the snorkel on. And we monitor the diesel consumption really close, actually calculating the real time data every single time when we fill up. And it increased when we mounting of the snorkel. 👍🙋♀️ Vera
Hi Vera and Christian, with regards to your snorkel they do I believe enhance the look of the vehicle but I am sceptical as to there efficiency. I believe Land Rover say that they are a high level air intake rather than a snorkel. However I have been considering fitting one to help keep my air filter cleaner in dusty conditions and normally take a spare air filter with me. My Freelander 1 used to clog up with dust fairly quickly, however with the Discovery 3 I have not had to replace the filter on a trip due to dust clogging the filter even in very dusty conditions. I presume this is due to the intake being mounted in the side of the wing . I was very surprised just how little additional dust had accumulated during the off road trip.
Possibly the snorkel would be more effective in drawing clean air over a longer period..
Another enjoyable and informative video. This was a test which is definitely worth undertaking however I would not recommend ordering a plug on a work laptop or you may have some explaining to do to HR lol.
Regards
Peter
😅👍 We just had our fun in this video. But it is a tool used by Land Rover mechanics and it certainly worked extremely well. 🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Hi Vera, I was just joking about ordering a plug on a works laptop, british humour 😀
Awesome video definitely making me want to do this test 🤣
My crankcase oil separator seals are leaking also its a bit of a pain to get to but you've done worse so will be a walk in the park for you 2
Does your Disco do a single bing when you start the engine? The bing always comes when the airbag light goes off. Ours is doing that now for a while now and no faults are shown either in the info system or shown on the OBDii tool. Starting to drive us mad, slowly 😅. Now Fabians Disco is doing the same 🙄. We have checked battery, oil, and all other known causes found on the internet. 🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian mine does a Bing with ignition on and then yeah all the normal lights that go off do away as it Bing's
I thought that was normal as its always done it since I bought it almost 5 years ago haha
Does your airbag light stay on after the Bing?
Only thing I could think of is battery voltage being low as mine always normally drops to 11.8v when the ignition is on engine not running
Could maybe hook up jumper leads from another vehicle or put a battery charger on your battery and turn ignition on and see if it still Bing's 🤣
But yeah I always thought that was normal haha
@@OUTBACKDiscovery No it goes off. But thank you for your info. You know there is one theory on the internet that that bing indicates that all system are operating correctly 😅. That would be too good to be true. Ours started that bing once the hdc fault dissapeared in early spring (our spring). So maybe that is the most plausible explaination. Also on Fabians Discovery, it would so nice if that is the case and everything is fixed. 😂 But we will look further into that topic. 👍🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian everything working correctly on a landrover , that's not good for our youtube channels!🤣
The snorkel could be restricting the airflow a little, so it's really trying to 'suck' harder than usual..? Could you bodge a way for the MAS to be on the snorkel and see if that runs any different?
Thanks for the laughs 😂
great video guys!! love the toy! Found the item, Amazon reference KAISAL Universal Easy Intake Adapter £24.99 UK.
Great “wideo” thanks Christian, although l now l have something to worry about that l wasn’t worried about before l watched it. Not being able enough to do my self anymore l think l will have to have all my hoses changed at next service. I have been worried about the hard to get to hoses since l watched your video and the trouble you had just getting to them -The intercooler down pipe split after l had a remap which could have just split anyway - lv just started seeing some smoke again so l might have another split coming or leak somewhere
It is probably not coming from the bottom hose. So maybe you don't need to change that one. 😀👍🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian thanks Vera l will though have the garage check em when it goes in - regards yourself and Christian
You can probably get that green flammable expanding foam off the engine cover with a jet wash. If it catches fire and insurers find out that it was a modification you probably wouldn’t be insured.

Hi Christian and Vera, very interesting as usual :) did you finally changed the mid section between the upper tube and the lower tube ? I suspect mine is leaking too but can t find the part number on Internet :/.
No, we used duct tape to clamp it down. Land Rover does not sell this part on its own. And with Fabians engine, and Christians stress at work, we just hadn't had time to deal with it yet. 👍🙋♀️ Vera

Won’t having the snorkel forward create a forced air intake as in ram air as used in certain American cars and 1970’s Suzuki motorcycles? Whereas turned round the airflow won’t change with speed?
Turned around will probably create a vacuum, thereby exacerbating the problem.
You guys make me laugh every week , but this week you cracked me up so much when I laughed my wife thought I was having a fit when you produced the rubber bung 😂😂😂
On another point , do you guys get to choose your number plates as they both spell DI RT then some numbers , also thank you so much for the stickers , my Freelander 2 no proudly wears one
Have you any idea why my car sometimes does not recognise my remote key ? It’s been to 2 garages and I have had the recommended parts replaced but it keeps doing it from time to time
We would first check if it's the car or the key. You probably have two keys. So we would try each one for an extended time. If it's the car, you have to find the root cause. My brother inlaws car had a rotten reciever connection due to a wet spot on the inside of the car. Now the Discovery has more than one reciever, I don't know how it is on a Freelander. Glad you liked the sticker, sorry it took me so long. 😃👍🙋♀️ Vera
Hi Christian and Vera is the hifgher consumption due to the more dense air from to the ram effect of the snorkel so the ECU is injecting more fuel for of air????
We will find that out now. I am going to turn the snorkel around and monitor the diesel consumption. 👍🙋♀️ Vera
