The is not just bad ,.....ITS TERRIBL- but it has sparked controversy in the past couple of weeks, and that is that the actor who plays Spider-Man (Warden Wayne) And Director Gavin J Knop were outed as racist with leaked text messages on insta...... So bad people... make bad movie, WHO KNEW. Oh and all this was leaked by a nine year old so... Based nine year old...

I love how at the end of the movie, Gavin, a self-proclaimed Spider-Man fanatic who knows more than anyone else, completely misunderstands Peter’s entire relationship with the mask. Peter wants to be Spider-Man, and he loves it. This love isn’t constant as things happen that make him grow a little disdain for it, but he truly grows to love it. He chooses to be Spider-Man, he chooses to be a hero. He took his responsibility and truly made it his own. Peter forcing himself to be something he hates isn’t at all what Ben meant for him. It's incorrect
Hell, if I were to do a version of this kinda story (which I wouldn't because I know my limits unlike a certain director) I would make it clear that he isn't forcing himself to be Spider-Man but is instead forcing himself to not be Spider-Man, not do something that brings him joy out of guilt. Show him doing it and loving it, then feeling guilty about it (seeing a Bugle article about him and internalising it more after Gwen's death) then stopping being Spidey for a bit (cue Spider-Man No More reference). Him putting the mask back should feel like a triumph not an obligation.
Except that is kinda true though, Peter doesn't outright "hate" it; But it is a burden, it's a responsibility, it should have tremendous weight. Peter isn't perfect, he didn't start out "loving" helping people; In fact his journey to being a hero starts with him not helping someone, and ends up with his uncle dead.
A lot of story, even more recent ones, leans heavily on this. In the mainline comics (After Dan Slott's run); Responsibility is the main theme. Peter/Spider-Man got split; But rather than typical good vs evil, it was Responsibility vs. Power. That arc shows how Peter sees Spider-Man and what Spider-Man could be; Spider-Man was going around earning money and just flat out doing what he wants, he still is a hero, but doesn't have to worry about his personal life.
There's also Spider-Man Lifestory, where his personal life got fucked because of his heroics. Although, it ends on a sweet note, with him finally relieved from the power and responsibility as "Spider-Man"; And trading that for the responsibility as a husband/father.
Isn't that that stupid "Clark Kent is how superman sees us" bullshit that went around?
It's usually the most toxic Spider-Man fans who think they know everything and act like all Spider-Man films should be the same, there's a couple of them on UA-cam

What makes it even funnier is, as a fan of the Flash TV show, I'm like, 80% sure that it was just a recolored Zoom costume. The mask is what made it obvious

Imagine if a real Spider-Man movie was just 2 hours of Peter grieving Uncle Ben, and absolutely nothing else.
I hated the fact that so many people came to the movie's defense saying that the critics' opinions were skewed by the controversies and low budget. No, it's just a bad movie I don't care how many excuses they can make up.

Way too many people are trying to act like the director’s shitty politics can be divorced from his movie.
But, since his politics are based on apathy, selfishness and an overall lack of empathy; it shouldn’t come as a surprise that his version of Peter Parker is written the same way.
Like, even if it was technically competent (and it sure as shit ain’t, lmao), how is this movie not absolutely doomed from the start?
Yeah, it’s almost like the “keep politics out of my media” crowd are just whining about people saying politics that aren’t there’s.
Maybe extreme conservatives should just stay the fuck away from Superhero films, I get the feeling their philosophy of “fuck you, got mine” doesn’t gel well with characters that are supposed to fight for those who came fight for themselves 🤣

When a low budget 90's fan film called Green Goblin's Last Stand is more entertaining than Spider-Man Lotus which costed $100,000 to make.
Yeah, I mean, there's even that friggin' Cake Day sketch by Corridor (and seemed to understand Spider-Man's joy for his role to boot!)

They were so busy wasting their money on the Spider-Man swinging scenes that they forgot to make the movie entertaining. Nothing happened at all in that movie except Gwen dies and the rest of the cast just flounders about and everything happens offscreen.
Peter isn't a jerk. Even when he lost his uncle in spiderman 2002 or in the amazing spiderman he was still kind and caring. In no way home Even after aunt may died he was still caring about people and was willing to cure the guy who killed his own mother. A jerk would be someone doing bad things without a good reason/not out of reciprocation. The only person he actively hated was Osborn there, even tho the others did so much damage as well.
The real best adaptation of "The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man" was in the 94 cartoon, that was even my first introduction to the character aside from the Rami movies.

I'm not at all defending this dumpster fire, but I *think* he was trying to say that the comics were stories and didnt actually happen, which isn't that uncommon if the comics get mentioned in adaptations (Like in Logan, for example)

For a good Spiderman fan film that adapts the same story ark I would recommend "The Green Goblin's Last Stand". It's in VHS quality but the stunt work and acting are phenomenal.

The whole “recording messages for Gewn’s corpse” bit was supposed to be an adaptation of Spider-Man: Blue, which is a story about how even though Peter’s moved on to MJ, he’s still misses Gwen. I get what Gavin was going for, but he messed this up because:
1) The comic takes place years after Gwen dies, and Lotus really doesn’t establish a passage of time or really set up Peter and MJ as a thing
2) who still uses a tape recorder in current year?
What’s even funnier about that small adaptation of Blue now, is that another UA-camr named Browntable managed to make a better version of it with Josh Keaton reprising his role as Spectacular Spidey

i guess i live under a rock because i had never heard about this movie or the weirdos who made it until youtube's algorithm handed it over. (i guess my 'free with ads' nightly movie watches and the recent rabbit hole of videos on the older spiderman cartoons made it think it would be perfect for me.) i was pretty excited at first because hey! sometimes fan made stuff can be good because they actually care about the thing! i got through the first fight scene before thinking to check the comments and then crawled out of there war torn after the cemetery scene jfc. i had to see what the reception was among other people and thankfully found your video!!! dude your editing is so good! and your commentary was highly entertaining, had me busting up through the whole video, on top of being a good review too. love a hate watch, but also love when people actually point out WHY it is bad. from the shots to the dialogue to the characters to the plot. so thanks for making this video!! and thanks for letting me and my big head hang out in your corner of the internet, i hope to stick around! :^)

I got into it with a neutral mindset, no prejudice and bias. I reminded myself that it is a movie made by fans ultimately. Tbh I was excited, i even bought some snacks. I watched for about 10-15 minutes and wondered why tf it was so bad. I tried to look past all the low quality but it wasn't heartfelt or made out of love from the looks of the final product. I genuinely wondered where all the money went. A friend called Spider-Man looks like it was shot on a smart phone but is a 100 times better than this mess.

Okay that Peter yelling at Mary Jane at Gwen's grave, kind of happened in the comics. I mean Peter was in his apartment and Mary Jane was there because Harry was there strung out on drugs, she tells him that he heard about when and that she's so sorry and he goes off on her. He did mention something about the life of the party and go party cause you don't give a fuck about the rest of. I said Peter said that like 2 hours after Gwen and Norman died. I mean to defend this movie but there is a precedent for it but also it was done better in the seventies, because this moment is when Mary Jane stops being a party animal and shows that she does genuinely care for Peter and comforts him, where the fuck is that in this movie?
Moment from the comics had character development and growth for Mary Jane and Peter as well cuz he could be an asshole in the 70s and 60s. It feels like this moment just happens to happen and has none of the impact of the comic. Actually a lot of this movie feels like it happened just to happen.
