They never said that. It was only an example to show the difference between judges. But I do agree with you in some terms, because some judges, on Masterchef USA, would properly say something like that if they got the chance.

I’m not chinese, but I’m Malaysian (Of Indian descent) and I grew up in a predominantly Malaysian-Chinese neighbourhood, so wanton noodles and Hainanese chicken rice and Ipoh Hor fun are things I grew up with and things I cannot live without. The chicken looks like duck confit. And the chicken with bak choy does not look like chinese food. Both dishes would be chinese inspire food rather than "chinese food". No where near close.

Chinese dish should taste like a crunchy or fresh taste. Or rich flavor of broth and spicy.

My Chinese grandpa saw me watching this and I asked him in Cantonese for fun, "Do these dishes look like Chinese cuisine?" and he all he did was laugh and say "These look like western dishes. These don't look like Chinese food at all."
I hate how the judges taste the food in this version of MC! It feels way too ivory tower/elitist dining like the home cooks are serving kings as opposed to being mentored by professional chefs.
They should have served raw bats and dog meat.. Why cook the food? 🤣

No one is eliminated after this challenge, the immunity pin is for a future challenge should the winner ever find themself facing a pressure test that they don’t wish to take part in.
@@nikhilcruz how many people were left in the competition? The balcony looked crowded. In the US version. They did something similar with a skills test winner got immunity out of 8 contestants.
drmayeda1 it’s not similar. Any type of elimination can be avoided up until finals week with the immunity pin, US only gives immunity for that one episode and doesn’t carry over.
