I just drank 1 glass of sheep milk that is grass fed and low temp pasteurized. Definitely the easiest on my system in comparison to A1 and A2 cow milk, and goat milk. Love the fact that it has so much calcium. Really just need a glass a day when considering the other sources of calcium I get throughout the day.
Just include vitamin K2 in your diet, to ensure that calcium goes into your bones instead of your artery walls. Sources such as cheese. There is quite a lot of information here on UA-cam.
Yay so glad you're enjoying the videos! :) A nerdery is a play on words for "Nursery" because we grow a lot of trees, but we also are nerds and we are raising some nerds too (our 2 kids!). So we're just being playful and silly with that one :)
Been eating crathloe sheep cheese made in co clare ireland, beautiful available at organic shop clonakilty Co Cork ireland, beautiful thanks for the video,
Hello! Enjoyed your video. We have a small sheep farm in Mississippi. We raise hair sheep for meat and are looking into getting a small flock of dairy sheep. I’m just now learning about sheep’s milk. I understand the cream doesn’t separate like cow’s milk but a separater can be used to get the cream out. Have you or do you know of anyone who makes butter from the cream?
I have yet to try making butter, but I know it's definitely possible. The one video I saw someone making sheep's milk butter was from this nomadic shepherd being interviewed here: ua-cam.com/video/U54HRmglYEA/v-deo.html I'll definitely record a video of us attempting and hopefully succeeding in making butter soon. One of our ewes just lambed last night :)
sheep could conceivably be a candidate agricultural product to support future Lunar & Mars colonies for their dietary needs as well as wool & other products. their smaller size could be a factor in their favor for early transport in space. there are many items on the flowchart of exodus that would have to be achieved before these colonies would be ready for sheep. It is likely that tilapia would be one of the first stock animals with chickens being soon after.
Hi there! We use the Simple Pulse milking machine - we ordered it from the US. I would be happy to be in touch, we are about to enter lambing season but I cannot guarantee we'll have sheep to sell. We're also located in Southern Ontario, so there may be places closer to you that have dairy sheep available too. :)
Can sheep milk be used for babies? I wanted to ask this given the baby formula shortage. There's times when people say sometimes goats milk can be used. But goat's milk has a failure rating. So that's why I ask. And if anyone doesn't know here, do they know someone to ask? (And how to treat it?)
That's a great question and unfortunately, I don't know enough to give you an answer on this one. There are definitely some blog posts on the topic that talk about the pros and cons and how it stacks up to other types of milk too: www.abbeyskitchen.com/goat-milk-vs-cow-milk-vs-sheep-milk-for-babies-does-dairy-cause-colic-allergies-disease/ I think it's so tricky because there aren't a lot of studies or research to go by!
I was looking up info on sheep’s milk and stumbled upon a website where I read that sheep’s milk is not recommended for babies up to 12months because of its high protein content. Can’t remember the website but It was from a sheep farm website. I would assume it’s true, as sheep milk has much higher protein, vitamins and minerals than the other common milk. A baby wouldn’t be able to digest the protein and can be harmed by high vitamin/mineral content. My advice, if not enough research/facts available, don’t risk your baby’s health or consult with a Naturopath.
Hi Cherie! Generally it's best to cool milk down quickly, and bring it to the fridge as soon as we're done milking. But I don't think sheep's milk has a strong "taste" - and all of the people we've given it to have said "it just takes like milk" :)
Ahh I'm so sorry to hear that you're not able to find any sheep's milk. It's very seasonal - so it might become available in the spring or summer... but it could also be that there aren't producers in your area too.
Great question! We're trying to keep the traditional ways, so we went with "Waykeeper". The word "way" is also an Eastern concept of "do" that can be "method" or "art" (like Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Kendo, etc) so that also inspired our choice of the word. Keeping the art/way of farming, and the Nerdery part is where we bring our sillier side and more technical/modern learning.
Here on island Pag in Craotia people are so narrow minded. There is more pasture raised sheep than people. In village Povljana tried to buy sheep milk from 3 dairy farms, they are just into selling milk to cheese factory, or making cheese, nobody sells milk. They are so obsessed with getting it salty, dry and hard, and afraid to be poisoned by bacterias of raw milk. My grandma lives majority of her life on sheep island, and she never tried sheep milk. She told me:"don't ask nobody for sheep milk, people don't have it for you, go to supermarket and buy cow milk" that is advice of my 77 yr old grandma.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I imagine they might be able to make more money from cheese than from selling fresh milk, or at least that has been the case in the past? It's interesting to get your perspective!
I don't know sorry! I feel like each type of milk has advantages and disadvantages and I'm not familiar enough to say when it comes to buffalo milk. I have heard it's amazing though!

This is the best video on sheep's milk! 🐑 🥛 I have a small flock of sheep who will be lambing soon, can't wait to try it for myself😄
Woohoo, excited for you Becky!!
Me too!!
Love your videos especially as a very new shepherdess! Question…what is a “nerdery”?
Yay so glad you're enjoying the videos! :)

I'm a fan of planet earth myself, but you never know. ;)
Hi Nathalie, I am wondering what is the milking machine you are using? Can we get somehow in contact, I am interested in buying some dairy sheep

Manchego chesse (RAWMILK) the best one
Awesome!!
Does the sheep milk need to be cooled quickly to not have taste? LOL Now i am seeking a couple ewes to add to our little farm :)

I live in Oklahoma. Can't find sheep milk in any store anywhere or a farm. Makes me sad😞

Im sheep milk addicted. Nothing taste like sheep milk. Its expensive though.

I hear you!
I didn't know these facts about sheep's milk. Too bad you can't make butter out of it.
Ooh that's a good point to bring up - I think it is possible to make butter from sheep's milk. I have yet to try, but I've seen pictures of it :)
@@waykeeperfarmandnerdery I would love to see that video. How do you separate the cream in naturally homogenized milk?
Its sitting on a shelf in walmart, used in skin cream... yes it is possible.
Is sheep milk better for you than buffalo milk?
