Making friends: Make sure to click the "Talk" button when you interact with villagers! Opening the dialogue is basically saying "Hi!". But to socialize you have to actually stop and talk

Your own character does not have traits. But your children have. What happens if you end up playing them? Do you still have them? This would be nice to know when i die.

The fishing mini game isn't too bad by itself but what makes it bad is the amount of fishing you need to do. I'd likely turn off the fishing mini game after the first few times fishing as well.

Relationships are easier than gifting. You just need to click on the talk button a couple times for an interaction and you are good.
