@@SamuTheFrog i dunno if you'll see this cause its 3 years later but if you Want it to be pretty relaxing then just play peaceful mode, its really good cause you don't have to worry about the cannibals and mutants, but still theres animals that can kill you so yeah, its great in my opinion

To all people saying this no longer works...it does. You can still attach custom floors to rock walls, it's just a pain in the ass to do it. You have to keep spamming whatever your "craft" key is bound to (I think default is C, but I changed mine to X) while looking at the rock wall/pillar when you have the custom floor out, and eventually it will change from a small platform to a custom point placement. Just keep circle strafing the pillar looking it up and down spamming that key and it will change - there may be a better trick to finding the selection point but this is what works for me. Trust me, I just did this and it works fine. Finicky as hell to select the custom point placement but it still works fine.
00:45 I put all sort of structures on rafts and I have no problem in balancing. The key is to put everything symetrical. Then raft works completely normal. If you put 2 rock holders on the front without baLancing the back, it's kinda obvious, the raft will drown. Especially taking into consideration that the player stand at the front of the raft.

When building the initial custom floor for the sea base, how do you recommend getting those logs out to the structure if playing on a legitimate game (no modapi)?
1) You need to build the dock structure. That's the one you can tie your 'ships' to. 2) If I remember well, Farket has a video of 'building houseboat for beginners' where he shows how to transport building materials around. Basically the video is all about taking down trees with dynamite just by the beach and expanding the basic houseboat by custom platforms ;)

I build the base in there. The place good for starting days and no patrol route(if you ignite campfires it will draw cannibals/mutant) until day 8 when mutant start spawning i think it is more easier than facing cannibals becuase mutant attack our base about 4-5 every day and night it looks hard but these stone near the beach somehow make the mutant (especially cowman and armsy) become buggy not attacking us or just got stack to the stone. You may still got attacked by pale red hand cannibals just 2 of them. There is a pros making base in there you could also harvest mutant armor because mutant got buggy/glitch when approaching our base
I once tried to sail the small raft backwards with log holders attached to it. It didn't tip over anymore. Don't know if it still works, as I don't have that save anymore.
He's using the snap feature. If you move slowly enough, when your current line is very close to either a 45 degree or a 90 degree angle, it will snap to exactly that angle. The snap is very weak, though, which is why you have to move slowly: move the camera too quickly, and you'll go right past the snap without even noticing it was there. Once you get good with snapping, though, making perfect rectangles isn't hard.

Not an expert, but I'm pretty sure the answer is no. From the wiki, the worm can swim as well as fly, so I imagine nowhere on the surface is safe from him, and your best bet is to hope that you're not around your base when he finds you...or temporarily turn building destruction off.
I built a platform there before. You don't have to go underwater to place any part of it. You can place every log on the part sticking up out of the surface.
noobsalsowinsometimes - the answer i found from google :O xd "Park the ramp against the dock, get out and look at the pole on the dock, hold E. If you did it right there will be a rope tied up."
Much cheaper and faster. Rocks respawn endlessly around you while logs you have to chop down the trees and bring them to the location you are building. The downside is that the last rock pillar you attach the foundation to is the only one that needs to be destroyed to bring down your entire foundation (and everything on top of it). The rest of the corners/pillars don't matter - it's technically a glitch method, which is why it works that way. But it still works, and looks good, and is cheap and fast compared to a wood foundation. And you can build protection around the one pillar as well to make it harder to get to (such as having it underwater) so even its "weakness" can be protected.
Honestly the fact that you dont just use the gasoline for the chainsaw in the yacht or repair the engine or simply raise the sail to leave is so annoying like they shouldve taken the yachts sail off or made it visibly somehow like stuck in that spot idk why that kinds dumb shit bothers me but it do

I placed it thinking it was in the right spot but fuck no it did not stick to the ocean stone but to the ground than transport 22 stones for a useless pillar i cant even see wtf i have spent hours with 0 progress building in this game is so trash

I know this is extremely late, but you can build a log sled on the raft, then pile the bodies on said sled to transport via raft.

That's the dock building object. It's the only thing that can dock boats.

so seemingly as of 2019 you cant place custom floors on rock walls for some reason, custom floors only exist on fully squared off sections of wall :/
Still able to do it in 2020, so I don't know what you're issue was.
I always build a houseboat with 2 platforms on each side. Then I connect the platforms with a bridge so the house boat doesn't drift off.

It's directly in the settings. If I remember well, it's the only color you can set up there ;)

There is a cheaper way, away from shore, outside map limits. Custom foundation only is one log deep in the base.
