Me and my friend built a huge base hanging out on the cliff of geese lake. I chopped down a tree in the opposite direction of our house, but it gliched out, began to spin, fell on top of our base, and then the entire base just exploded, and all the wood and everything fell into the depths of the lake. 10/10
I'm a strange kind of Forest player, I do normally build bases, but most of the time I'm like a nomad, just wandering around building little secluded camps and then moving on again just exploring, hunting and killing cannibals :P
:D, I think that is one of the reasons why they made the tents and temporary shelter options - let players play their way (within reason lol). I would say it isn't the most normal choice but I think its still an awesome one, I sort of wanted to do a hard mode nomad let's play to see how that would go. No bases, only the most basic structures.
Fetid Bobo yeah I know XD "Those savages took my son! I'll make em' pay! But first let me single handedly build a medieval castle over a series of months!"
Ser Sh1bum Haha, feels like so many big game RPGS. THE END OF THE WORLD IS COMING OBLIVION GATES ARE OPENING EVERYWHERE WE NEED TO CLO-- oh hey would you like to become the champion of the arena? :3. Its like those little mini games where you just spend a ridiculous amount of time on it instead, like gwent, or chocobo hot and cold lol.
Fetid Bobo "By the nine! Mehrunes dagon is laying waste to the Imperial city! Quickly, we must get Martin to light the dragon fir-"By Azura! By Azura! BY AZURA! It's the grand champion!"
This has to be one of the best tutorials ive ever seen. not only explanetory and pretty straight to the point after the intro. and its 6 years old aswell. This aged really good!
yeah. you can also dive through the cave entrance in the middle of the lake without a rebreather. set your colortemperature to "Texas" to see more underwater ;)
I think building on the cliff to the sea is ideal. You see a lot towards the other side of the sea and you have to build only one side of defence. Also there is water available and you're not too far from the Catana
I'm building a huge base on the cliffside of gooselake. My buddy has a base on the other side and my main base is expanding into the forest so we figured we'd connect them and expand to the cliffside. Great location though.
4:29 i use this place as my base, its the best! i built a custom platform on the cliff with a house on top n stairs going to the beach, no cannibals or anything gets on the beach, its 100% safe and turtle as mentioned in the video do spawn on that beach too you just need to wait a minute for em, not to mention the near by village is loaded with goodies soda, dynamite, red paint, suit cases, cloth, skulls and the modern axe cave! which is also has the big stock room for even more goodies! you cant beat it (oh and you dont need to walk logs down, just sit a log sled at the edge of the cliff and take em off 2 at a time and dump em off the edge, pick em up when you have dumped like 40 of em)
hehe :D, maybe PvP will become viable in the future. Right now you can hide your name by sneaking around - but you could easily forget and reveal your location.. hard to sneak an entire game XD. Also estus spamming would be a real balance issue, but.. there is always a possibility ^_^
I usually make a small, dense tree base around the ring of tents southeast from the Cannibal Tree on the northwest coast. I ring those tents in with walls because they're save points. Building here puts you directly on top of a pot spawn, so I'll save the game, build a sap collector, reload and repeat. The trees are REALLY dense, making it possible to build an entirely elevated camp here and string platforms across the forest to key locations. I usually leave about 20 meters of thick trees untouched around the base. I like to think it protects my camp from view, because I like to make lots of skull lamps for ambient lighting. Bonus, there's a fish pond a few steps away you can also ring around, and connect the two so you never touch the ground. I essentially live like an ewok in a spot that sees high activity (but my base proper is rarely bothered), is close to the beach and caves, and near the highest density of plane crashes for when your friends join.
I think the Best location is living next to the plane that you crashed in it, cuz you can go on the plane again, canibals and mutants can't. Then you have a lot of food near the plane, so do you have suitcases. Food and suitcases reset when you rejoin the game! This is the Best location for me at the moment (o)
Same that’s what me and my friend did cause there’s tons of resources minus turtles so thats about the only thing we have to go find when we need them the down side is they can jump ontop of the plane unless there the really big ones I think
@@drunken_masasura13 we have a pretty compact but dense base around the plane and then the main base quite far away, with zip lines going back and forth

These containers can be good, but fire mutants, and explosives if they're added back, can hurt you through the container - so this ends up being less fun later in the game lol (but great until then). The island across from here isn't bad but I prefer the other island I showed in video next to #3, Red Cliff as it is closer to resources. *Updated Notes*: -Teleporting benches have been a bit nerfed since this video, but as of typing this the catapults have similar functionality as what used to be for benches - and you can use those for now... Till it's patched at least lol. -The beach is a bit more active than when this video was first made, so be aware #1 will have more enemies -You can now easily build in the giant trees, they're indestructible and immune to fire, way better than normal tree houses -Water now kills enemies that enter deep enough for "swimming" depth, this makes lakes and island bases even better -It seems that most of the eastern beach front, including #3, has low enemy activity - #3 continues to be a really calm spot -In my Christmas video (last half) I show building in the giant trees, as well as two other goofy tips: ua-cam.com/video/Oll0GRBpPdw/v-deo.html
+Fetid Bobo me and my buddy made a base on cliff, after the last update, our base was now fill of rocks and now apart of the mountain again.. You can still see the light from the lamps, inside the mountain.. Becarefull building close to mountains cliffs.
Oh, which cliff #3 or #4? The devs change the terrain a little sometimes (trees have moved before), less now than before (game is still in alpha), but its possible they close an area off intentionally or just to improve the area. Sorry you lost your base though :(
Fetid Bobo ehh not sure, it was in the snowy areas.. No worries, we just made new bases. I found out having more bases makes it more save, cause when you stay the same place for longer periods of time. they come in bigger forces.. but if you move around they wount.. Ofcause the most save place is building a pier to one of the island near the beach and build out there, as the cannibals cant swim, and the big ones, that comes after long time of playing cant walk true 3 meters of water.
my friend and I built on geese lake. we built 3 tall houses in the middle of that lake and we enclosed the whole thing in with walls. most defensible place in our game as of right now. one of our best builds too. good video man, really enjoyed it.
+Triscuit96 ^_^ Thank you, and that is awesome! It is a really high potential location, if you made a video or took some pictures feel free to link them to me (here or personal message) I would be very exited to see your base :D. Thank you for watching! Let me know if there was anything you wanted to see :)
6:00 this is where me and my friends have our current base. It’s honestly pretty good, especially when you get a zip line set up to the area across the cliff. Plenty of wood, lots is stick and rock spawns, village right nearby and not to far from others, and it’s easy to protect aside from the top cliff which can be rather expensive. Best part of all is the cannibals rarely even come by, despite a village being within eyesight
I'm glad you mentioned the Geese Lake. In my experience it is easily the best place to build. I've built my base at the center of the lake, big house, have all sorts of structures, unlimited feathers from geese, luggage beach is just a bit beyond the waterfall rocks, plenty of animals, film crew camp to the left (easy flares) sinkhole is near, access to a couple of caves if you need them (not including the one in the water). Strangely enough though, I don't get a lot of cannibal activity, so I kinda have to go hunting for them if I need bones.
i built on geese lake and had to travel far to get luggage items until about the 3rd time i started the save the plane was somehow moved and was right beside the lake giving me all the luggage i needed.
That island where the turtles swim onto is where me and my friends built our base. Just build a dock extending to the island and add stairs at the base and you can run log sleds all the way over. You also get the turtle and bird spawns. Plus plenty of relatively empty land to build farming plots and you can make plenty water catches. Also the cannibals won't really notice you at all
Whoah. It's very interesting to see all of thease locations. The pros/cons list are also very helpful for someone like me that doesn't know very much about the game. The content I've seen you put out so far have been very interesting indeed. As an added bonus, your voice is very soothing. Good job! Have a good day!
+BlueNinjaNeko! :D! Soothing! *squeals* "tehehehe they like my voice!" lol Thank you :). I'm very glad you liked it, if you were interested in seeing anything please let me know ~ Wish you a good day as well :)
I built in Geese Lake. What I did was build little dock and a raft with log racks on it to build my base on a raised platform in the lake away from the rocks. So there is a lower platform on the bottom where I store dried meat and an area to boil water, and the raised platform also puts a wall around the lower platform. Then I built stairs that go from in the water up to the actual two story base with the first story being for my general quarters and general storage and the 2nd story being partially open to the sky where I have a garden and some water collection turtle shells. So I have everything I need there and there is a small pond nearby for fishing plus all the animals wandering by. Then I also built a defensive wall all around the lake with 3 doors so I have 3 ways in. This way there are not random cannibals left running around in the water which was annoying. There is no way for them to get into the base unless take down a section of the wall and they learn how to use a raft or to swim. It all took awhile to construct but it was worth it. I had set up a tree house near the lake to rest in while I was doing the build to avoid the cannibals at night. They didn't present much of a problem during the build. Another benefit is that geese lake is basically in the middle of the map. I just built treehouses in the four corners of the map for when I am out wandering and it is too far to get back to my main home. I really think what they should do is randomize the map on first creating a game otherwise this will all be too easy. There really were too many good reasons to build there.
#4 is the one I have been using, its a nice plateau with only 1 way up that doesnt involve jumping up cliffs and you can wall it up easy, theres 3 fresh water ponds and alot of deer. Ive built on the plateau above where fetid suggested, and Its a huge base with over 15 buildings
+hazardous Greed Hehe :D, thank you :). Should make people a night time track as a goofy video in the future then eh? Low slow voice, "And then gently strike the cannibal with your modern axe, slowly - bring your block arm up, now breath deeply" xD. Just let me know if you wanted to fall asleep learning/watching something in particular~!
My spot is near one of the potential plane crash sites, if you look up the map then you can see the kettle islands off the coast. If you make it there keep following the shoreline in a W/SW direction until you come to a river follow the river until you see flat land to the right and go there. That's the spot. Pros: Freshwater lake nearby Small cannibal camp nearby Cave where you get the katana nearby Main cannibal camp short walk away Lots of animals everywhere and in the small freshwater lake there are always fish Cons: No natural defences other than building it on the edge of a tiny cliff Across the river there are always cannibals in that part of the forest 20 likes on this comment and I'll make a video showing all this stuff!
+1 The Forest is a beautiful game for sure with lots of nice locations to build at :) My tip is to not build where there are "few enemies" but to pick location only from resources and your own ideas of what you want to build. Because they will get visited after a while anyway, and if the spot is secluded so it's harder for them, it's harder for you to get to it too... I regard enemies as flies that you swat when they interfere with what you want to do. If you build in the middle of Round Lake as here, they'll be there. So just go by ideas and resources, and the further north you go the fewer the resources. I built smack in the middle of a Village and there was no difference in enemy activity... so a safe spot is just no difference. If you pick a spot with cliffs or oceans on two sides, that just means two less sides for you to reach your home and they can cut you off. 6:50 you can't drink the water in the lakes, just from 1 of the two ponds up top. Weird and annoying.
When I get the chance I go back to older videos and see comments I haven't replied to yet, you've made a good point about eventual activity but I would like to add that Red Cliff is bit of an exception here - I've had and heard of saves going past 20 (even 100 days) and the activity is incredibly low. For some reason they do not visit there, and it remains to be one of the best low activity spots through any time period (like one or two cannibals a day, tops, sometimes zero for a few days). That's why I sort of recommended the lake spots.. they can be higher activity but the cannibals avoid the water, and in a recent patch they now die in the water so its like.. even better lol. And you're right, lake water is terrible to drink but you can boil it :D. thanks for the detailed reply mate~! Always like to see people trying to help out each other (and myself) :)
ScoopexUs Guys I need help i am new in this game ...canibals took me to their base cause I lost in battle then I escaped run into a beach which I am good there but what I have to do to protect my self? What I have to build?
I ALWAYS build at the beach and when my friend was starting the game and we built there we had SO MANY bosses but make sure if you build there to block off the cliffs cuz the bosses can jump in and stuff
+Lexicon Do you use the boat? I like having it in the background, and it looks pretty, but I'm so lazy to swim all the way out there after the first time... lol :P. Maybe I will make that video then :)
+Fetid Bobo I don't use the boat although I like to go to get a skull early on top make the crafted club I also like it in the background it looks very nice :D
Gotta say, I really like all your bases. Anyway, my save messed up with last update, so I had to start over. I found a really good location. It's near the cave where you find katana (in latest update). It has pond (infinite fish), bit further seems to be deer spawn point (infinite meat\hide). It has natural mountain passage with four good spots for tree platforms (all four trees are on the edge of cliffs), so it's easily protected from front. There's also a plane spawn (start) nearby, so if you get lucky like me, you can start your game from there. Overall, it's really good natural spot for defense, with lot of space (especially when you chop some trees), with almost infinite resources for meat\hide\meds\booze\cloth\etc. Check it out, it's literally just few feets away from katana cave (latest patch).
+Tony Park :) Thank you, appreciate the kind comment~! Hope to see you again as well! (uploading a MP LP right now if that means anything, probably available in a few hours after youtube is done lowering the quality hehe). :D
I actually built my most recent (and currently my largest) base near Geese Lake, right next to the Film Crew camp to exact. After watching your video I haven't considered expanding my base into the middle of the lake until now!
:D nice~! A few enemies can jump, so if you notice too much raining Virgina and babies you can build up a little bit (anti leaping in walls), but in my experience so long as you don't coax them to leap at you they'll just stare greedily from the shore. (Coax = stand near them, at a place they could jump to - if you stand farther away they'll just sound pissy all night hehehe)
+OriolebirdGaming Thank you ^^! That's an interesting location~ I always thought it looked cool but (if I thinking of the same area as you say) thought you might be attacked from 4 directions, have any pictures/video? :). Thanks for sharing your base locations ! Helps others know of even more people's choices :D
Fetid Bobo anytime man! A weird thing regarding directions, I built some defenses and the cannibals only come from one side, the valley across the river from the 2 cannibal tents. I cover the valley's opening with traps and I've barely had any trouble with cannibals
Wow, I'll check that area out - that's interesting. I thought looked fun but in the video I was trying to make sure that areas had some sort of natural defense available to them (making them significantly easier to defend). If the cannibals largely ignore that area it could be a nice open space!! Very neat!
first time playing (multiplayer) we went into cave 2 and died from that mutant with loads of legs then had to go back inside to get our backpacks and of course she was there again lol
Theyre weak when you got the pistole, kill them with 3 shots, I give you a glitch (legal) make the plate where you share things and make 30 things on it and then remove them all then you multipliyd it, doesn't work on all things, like stones, sticks only coins, pistolshots etc.
Man don´t stop what ur doing, only seen this vid so far but it´s really good. Soon the subscribers is going to grow like hell. You will be big man believe me. I have 1 question thought, my PC is kind of lagging in the forest, not much but I can´t take it, i´ve played the forest since it came out do you know any good PC for a good price?
+PhaseTwo DirtScooter :) Thank you! If you watch my other videos please let me know what you like or if you want to see anything else - this will help me grow into a big man :D. As for PCs, I can definitely try to help - I may not find the best deal but I believe I could at least give some ideas!! We can talk about it here, or you can PM through the about me on my channel / through twitter. I'd ask first if you want to build your own PC or Purchase one, then things like computer knowledge and desired budget. Of course if you already have an idea you can target question me - I'll try my best :).
+PhaseTwo DirtScooter Haven't really seen any good PC deals yet. . But just so you can start to look too (thought I might be able to send a nice deal lol), I'd check some suppliers like cyberpower or ibuypower, occasionally Amazon or Newegg will sell prebuilt PCs at an okay price. If you have a costco and you're not a big fan of things blowing up and you being stuck, you can get decent warranties (like 3 and 4 years) without much of a markup. Although with costco your graphics card wont be a focus (you'll get an okay GPU). I've seen great deals near the end of the year, or when products shift (new GPU out, older ones get a price drop). Dell/alienware isn't a bad check but at least in the past I felt Alienware added more than normal mark ups for pre-built machines cause they could. May have changed now. For gaming you generally don't need to look for many cores but more to better capability of a specific core. Because most games don't use many if any extra cores, so the game load will be usually only on one core, or two. (So a hexa core CPU isn't going to be vastly better than a really good few core CPU). Just keep in mind the speed rating isn't a tell all, you can get a really old CPU with a nice number and it won't technically be as fast as a newer core with the same number (most likely at least). More cores is great if you want to do video editing, rendering, or some sort of predictable activity that is easily made multi core, but otherwise more of a novelty - 4 would be plenty. For a GPU you'll have to decide whether you want to upgrade soon, don't care about low settings, or if you want to splurge and temporarily future proof yourself. 980TI should carry you forward for a few years. However I do want to say that there can be a HUGE difference in power between say $100 card and a $200 card. It sort of grows really fast from there though, can easily spend $500 on a high end card. Stereotypical what you'll hear is Nvidia will charge a bit just for being their stuff but will have better driver support (partly because a lot of the stuff they do is proprietary/designed in a way against AMD, so AMD has trouble using their special code) and AMD offers a bit more for the price. There are some important aspects to MOBO and PSU but it depends a lot on how much you're willing to spend (try not to get a terrible no name power supply (PSU) because while their job is simple, it is super important lol - but you dont need to get crazy amounts of power over what your machine needs (if you use 400W you don't need a 1000W PSU)). SSD is an amazing feeling and I recommend getting a computer with an SSD OS (they isntall it on the SSD), and then a more regular HDD for storage, naughty pictures, stuff like that. Can help more with a price range. Also depends on where you are located (Country wise). Some sites will be more helpful/open/closed to you. www.cyberpowerpc.com/
+PhaseTwo DirtScooter Oh, just cause I linked cyberpower and other sites do this too. Liquid cooling is another thing that you don't really need, that they'll probably try to push onto you. You'll definitely want to make sure your CPU is getting some sort of temperature control (like a fan) but if you don't want to bother with that stuff (changing liquid, cracked pipes, stuff like that) and you don't intend to over clock your computer... it's just more work than needed (liquid cooling can be super quiet though). Getting a decent heatsink fan for the CPU would be more than enough. Again depends on what you get, some CPU will never work hard enough that you could just air it lol - but you probably wouldn't get the gaming experience you want with that, my CPU is air cooled with a nice fan/heatsink, and is quite happy but I don't OC it.
+Andrew Middleton haha, well for the worst mistake of your life I'd say you've done pretty good so far :D! But yeah plane-base is a bit rough, a plane outpost might not be so bad though ^_^.
from the largest island on the east side (big mountain north) just west of the island up on the first cliff is a nice pocket with a 2nd cliff above and a cliff down to the water going around you
So, me and a buddy set up on one of the islands off the cliff and the beached boat. However, we made ziplines from the island to the beach, and from the top of the cliff near the small hut outside the respawn village, from there we use the zipline to send all logs straight down to our island. At first cannibals weren't a problem, till they started coming in groups of 8 with molotoves, so I set up traps all over the zipline region and their camp.
Thank you :) Just a small warning is the devs have made cannibals more active than before so sometimes an area that is out of the way or hard to reach is better, like Red Cliff or a base that can't be attacked (water bases). Feel free to ask me any questions~
The plane you start at is a decent place for a base. The meds, food, and soda respawn. There is a spot on the mountain, near the raised cannibal village, you know the big cone shaped huts on stilts. You can actually jump your way on to the wall and build using custom foundations. Cannibals can't reach it, cowmen cant reach it, virginia can't reach it. The spiders can jump high enough, but there isn't enough ground to stick on, so the fall. The only one who could actually wreck anything would be the worm, only because he can fly. I have set up several zip lines on mine so I can get in and out quickly. It's easily defendable because you literally have the mountains at your back and both sides. You look down on the baddies, and can shoot easily enough with arrows, flares, and the muzzle loader. The only issue is the cold. Tons of trees nearby. Ocean nearby. You can garden up there, you can make bird houses for feathers. You can trap in the woods. Just remember to wall off your zipline's so you have some protection when getting to and from.
Also to go down the sink whole me and my friend made a glider and had him,fly in and me just go in with a turtle shell sliding in . It was fun to do but make sure you can revive the person that goes down with the shell
best place for me is beached boat red cliff -huge space to build -no cannibals (unless you go too far) -at least 2-3 deers -turtles come to shore every morning (so I can make a water collector) con: -sometimes it's too difficult to climb up the rocks
Over time the devs have made the cannibals better at spotting and finding the player, Red Cliff is still pretty good but the beach is a little harder to defend now. It still has some strong benefits but maybe requires a slight change in behavior. (Cannibals dont attack your base when you are away for example, so not afking in your house is a big help already).
my favorite location is right towards the beach from the crash site where theres like a tall fishing post towards the sea, its a nice quiet beach, cannibals come sometimes but its not of a big trouble, besides theres baggages nearby and tons of turtes and seabirds for feathers :D
i like number 3 because it has a lot of space for everything! i survive there easily, BTW love the video i thought you would have more subs than that! :D
+DarkRush :D 3. Red Cliff is an excellent location! I called it Red Cliff cause the special red cannibal can appear there (once). Thank you for the kind comment ^_^, I'm glad you love it. Let me know if you wanted to see anything else~! If you want to help with my number you can always share me... /shuffles foot shyly on the ground shyly.. lol :)
Hi :D ~! So in the video you see this part: ua-cam.com/video/iHcO1xg29p4/v-deo.htmlm50s This is the respawn area, when you die in single player (first time/when your respawn counter is up) you'll spawn right at the bottom of a shaft and when you climb out you'll be there. With the camera I show how to go from there, to the Red Cliff base (basically run towards the ocean :D). On the map Red Cliff is here: theforestmap.com/#-661.6,1513.7 And if you're unfamiliar with cave 2/the respawn village this video might be of interest: ua-cam.com/video/lOWODolDqOE/v-deo.html with it you can get the modern axe, map, compass, and a boat load of supplies pretty easily AND it will take you from the yacht beach to the respawn village I talked about - putting you in a good position to head towards Red Cliff.
Near the final lake you mentioned there is some coastline with shipping containers, two islands off the coast there with deep water. cannibals cannot reach you and moving resources via raft is easy.
Lemon Juice This is what me and my friend do with the large raft. Putting a platform to add extra log carriers or stick carries. One island devoted to storage and the other becoming a lodge for extremely comfortable living. Putting some docks and a bridge between the two islands. Even when cannibals throw things they are yet to reach us.
I really liked the snowy lake spot. If you build on the other side of the lake and don't run into their patrols, cannibals won't even notice your base. Lots and lots of rabbits, squirrels, deer and birds, fresh water supply and the only problem that I've encountered was the shortage of sticks (they are much harder to get in the snowy areas) since you need more of them to keep yourself warm. A few of the cannibals saw me gathering wood near their patrol routes and after slaughtering most of them they never came back. As long as you do not build too far, you don't need any traps of effigies
every place that you choose in the video are SO COOL BRO!!!....it has a nice spot, fountain, waterfall, BEACH,and defendable....IM SO PROUD BRO... IMPRESIVE 👏🎅
hey i really like the production quality and aerial shots in your videos, excellent work. also the news helicopter intro, was classicly awesome! most dipshits will watch that, pass it up, and not even blink twice. it was golden how-ever.!! epic-sauce!
+DocsWorld Wow thanks :D, appreciate the compliment! Hope people who like this kind of stuff won't pass it up hahaha, but I know it's not for everyone. Just build the community that likes what I can do - and I take feedback to improve ofc :) Thanks again mate! Really nice :D
+Rico-Renar Reenumägi :3 Thank you! Glad the video can be of use ~ Are you talking about my two base videos (mountain base, and Laputa base)? :D thanks~ I try to make them really different, push what you'd see in the game. Maybe people can get more reasonable ideas from them, but at the same time be like Huh.. I wouldn't have expected to see that. I want a little surprise lol. My hope at least, :D. I appreciate it ! ~
Thank you :), you can fly and a lot of other stuff with: ua-cam.com/video/gfTqEzFRPvI/v-deo.html (ModAPI), video acts as an intro and guide on getting ModAPI
I recommend one more base location: near a Cannibal Village (3:49) you find a valley, I build there my first fortress, because near the beach where the turtle activity is very high, there are so much resources nearby, easy to defend there is two ways to attack my fortress (but the cannibals use always one), the contra(s): High Cannibal activity
i think building near sinkhole is great pros: you have easy access to sinkhole(you need to find the glitch) easy to defend near a lot of herbal resources like mari gold etc. you are near 2 cannibal camps you have a lot of rocks cons: there is not much food and sticks cannibals sometimes use the place as a path when you cut trees it looks terrible
Fetid bobo, thank you for the info! I just saw a trailer for this game and I knew I had to try it. So I bought it on Steam when it went on sale! but my gosh did the cannibals and how you "revive" scare the living hell out of me! XD I knew I needed to find some good info if I was going to get anywhere in this game and boy was I happy to see your video first!
Welcome to The Forest :D~! Glad you found my video helpful! Let me know if you were looking for anything else, I have a lot of video guides and have played for quite a while so I can likely give an answer :)
I actually live on one of the cliffs on 4. I live on the one right next to the cannibal village. I get a lot of trees and defense is cheap because 2 sides of the cliff is just a drop to the beach. I also have a zipline to get to the other cliff for hunting. I have been planning on building a great wall on the other side. But 4 is a really good recommendation, and I am happy that you observed this spot and thought the same as me
I like to build multiple small and low profile bases scattered across the peninsula. Also some caves have tents and fire pits near their entrances, so once theyre cleared caves are really safe havens
That's true, sometimes I built small log catchers at the bottom of the hill so I could just throw stuff down - there is a bit of back and forth, especially if you use the island later. But its one of the safest and well placed areas still, even though this video is quite old - only thing I'd really like to change in this video now is that lakes are safer due to killing cannibals in water and the beach is quite a bit more active than it used to be.. otherwise it's still pretty accurate. If you have like steam screenshots or whatever I'd love to see the base :D
The respawning suite cases are very helpful~ But candy will also make you a really big boy lol, I made a video on it.. its a little confusing so I'll probably make a "just do this to not be fat" video soon too, but: ua-cam.com/video/FLR70A4cZ3E/v-deo.html tl;dw, Soda and Candy always add overeating points even if you're starving, meaning you will almost always gain weight when you consume them. haha. It's not that big of a deal, but if you were going to play for like 80 days or more then if you eat right you'll get a lot of strength, and that means you'll be getting like 50% bonus damage.
I like the spot between the yacht and containers where the big stump is,also u can build on the islands. Personally I build Ziplines to and from the islands.
Haha that's alright ^_^. For a while the shell of the plane can defend against almost any attacks too~ Just be careful the Molotov cannibals can attack through it and that's really rough :(. The reason why I didn't recommend the plane in the video is because the cannibals will always check that location out first, and it is in random locations so some locations it appears in are actually really bad others are quite good :). Welcome to The Forest :)
Ooo, that would be really neat! What if the cannibals are smart enough to run the lever though? That'd be scary/awkward lol. I wanted a pulley / lever sort of system to make a cliff-side elevator (to bring a bunch of logs up and down, perhaps even to be used in tree houses and a base built on the mountain). Dragging a log sled backwards up a mountain, or bouncing on stairs is a bit goofy lol.
Me and my friend built a huge base hanging out on the cliff of geese lake. I chopped down a tree in the opposite direction of our house, but it gliched out, began to spin, fell on top of our base, and then the entire base just exploded, and all the wood and everything fell into the depths of the lake. 10/10
rip
DUDE I know, if you watched typical gamers playthrough, the same thing happened
That’s hilarious lol
That's why you should cut down the trees near your base before building houses/traps/defenses
I can’t bring myself to play this game with buildings being destroyable. I’m too picky about my builds to let them get wrecked...
I like marking bases the most, but I get the appeal in playing nomad style
This has to be one of the best tutorials ive ever seen. not only explanetory and pretty straight to the point after the intro. and its 6 years old aswell. This aged really good!
Geese Lake is my Goto for a small starter base - it's a very beautiful place.
yeah. you can also dive through the cave entrance in the middle of the lake without a rebreather. set your colortemperature to "Texas" to see more underwater ;)
Omg spy I love ur vids 😊😊
HEY SPY WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?
I build my base there too, and therere are deers down the beach too. I had 3 at my base :D
Its not 100% safe but its like 90% safe, really rare but me and my friend were playing and then a couple of canibals and virginia spawned there
I went down there to check it out, now i'm stuck haha. how do I make my way back up?
Or use the zip line to get the the lots down XD
Mutants are a problem there tho
I L O V E T H I S G A M E
cant wait for sons of the forest
Imagine 6 people building bases in these locations, 6 bases, just one king to rule them all...a game of thrones... XD
hehe :D, maybe PvP will become viable in the future. Right now you can hide your name by sneaking around - but you could easily forget and reveal your location.. hard to sneak an entire game XD. Also estus spamming would be a real balance issue, but.. there is always a possibility ^_^
Fetid Bobo It's just alpha until now, remember, just...alpha :D
did you just spoil the north being independent in GOT years before it aired
@@FetidBobo don't think so it's been a few years and nothing
I’m so late to this game, my nephew was playing it and it caught my attention, love it.
Josie Haertzen t
Logan Mahoney Iced tea? Don't have that I'm afraid.
Magical Medic what about armsies?
@@blaketonda3901 You get out there and fight them. 😁 And booby trap the shit out of the forest. Log falls and spikes just makes you more of an ewok.
If you have destroyable buildings off, I suggest putting walls arround the base of the trees to stop them being knocked down.
I love your channel! Keep it up :D
Your video's are very useful!

These containers can be good, but fire mutants, and explosives if they're added back, can hurt you through the container - so this ends up being less fun later in the game lol (but great until then). The island across from here isn't bad but I prefer the other island I showed in video next to #3, Red Cliff as it is closer to resources.
*Updated Notes*:
-Teleporting benches have been a bit nerfed since this video, but as of typing this the catapults have similar functionality as what used to be for benches - and you can use those for now... Till it's patched at least lol.
-The beach is a bit more active than when this video was first made, so be aware #1 will have more enemies
-You can now easily build in the giant trees, they're indestructible and immune to fire, way better than normal tree houses
-Water now kills enemies that enter deep enough for "swimming" depth, this makes lakes and island bases even better
-It seems that most of the eastern beach front, including #3, has low enemy activity - #3 continues to be a really calm spot
-In my Christmas video (last half) I show building in the giant trees, as well as two other goofy tips: ua-cam.com/video/Oll0GRBpPdw/v-deo.html
+Naruto Uzumakii yes
+Naruto Uzumakii yes it will be able to run gtaV and fallout 4 on low, like ps4 and Xbox one
my friend and I built on geese lake. we built 3 tall houses in the middle of that lake and we enclosed the whole thing in with walls. most defensible place in our game as of right now. one of our best builds too. good video man, really enjoyed it.
+Triscuit96 ^_^ Thank you, and that is awesome! It is a really high potential location, if you made a video or took some pictures feel free to link them to me (here or personal message) I would be very exited to see your base :D. Thank you for watching! Let me know if there was anything you wanted to see :)
I cant believe how little subs you have. great commentary, editing and audio. Keep it up.
I'm still watching it again and again, this is the best video on you tube ever :)
That island where the turtles swim onto is where me and my friends built our base. Just build a dock extending to the island and add stairs at the base and you can run log sleds all the way over. You also get the turtle and bird spawns. Plus plenty of relatively empty land to build farming plots and you can make plenty water catches. Also the cannibals won't really notice you at all
🤣🤣 👍
You deserve more popularity, theses videos are great. Loved them , keep it up :)

Whoah. It's very interesting to see all of thease locations. The pros/cons list are also very helpful for someone like me that doesn't know very much about the game.
The content I've seen you put out so far have been very interesting indeed.
As an added bonus, your voice is very soothing. Good job!

+BlueNinjaNeko! :D! Soothing! *squeals* "tehehehe they like my voice!" lol Thank you :). I'm very glad you liked it, if you were interested in seeing anything please let me know ~
Wish you a good day as well :)
Fetid Bobo No worries! And thanks. I actually have some questions, i hope you don't mind if i take my time and think about them for a bit.
Awesome, thanks for sharing the location tips! Can help those who are looking to further utilize that region :)

haha :P

The whole time i'm thinking about skyrim. The music... the scenery...
Haha, yeah it's a bit like that - the artist reminds me a little bit of the Witcher stuff too. Hope you like Skyrim music :D
man u are the greatest youtube ever i love you
Aww, thank you mate~! Appreciate it! Hope to see you again :)
Fetid Bobo :)
maybe one day can you play with me and my friends
Your voice is so soft that I almost fell asleep. Great video bro.
Pros:
Freshwater lake nearby
Small cannibal camp nearby
Cave where you get the katana nearby
Main cannibal camp short walk away
Lots of animals everywhere and in the small freshwater lake there are always fish
Cons:
No natural defences other than building it on the edge of a tiny cliff
Across the river there are always cannibals in that part of the forest
20 likes on this comment and I'll make a video showing all this stuff!
so where that video at ? lol
Video time!!!
that is often called fertile lands. It is mostly only the mutants that you need to worry about as regular canibals don't come near.
This is the best video about The Forest game. Good work!
+Zaur Kesaev Thanks mate, Appreciate it :D
bro u deserve wayyy more subs as you have been youtubing for over a year now. gl man!
Thank you ~ Maybe one day :)
Awesome video dude u have great videos on here very helpful too :D
+Lexicon ~~ Thank you! Let me know if there is something you'd like to see ^_^
+Fetid Bobo I think the beach is my personal favourite :D you should do a video showcasing your best bases :)
Just look out for the shark...its eaten me several times when I tried to use the boat. You can make a raft but it's kinda easy to fall of of.
This is one of the best videos I've seen regarding the forest. Take my sub.
Me and my friend built in the clearing right by the lake with the cannibal camp and it’s such a nice place with the beach nearby
This was a nice, relaxing video!
I really appreciate this video for the game, well put together and smooth as well. Nice work man and hope to see more videos in the future. :) GG
+Tony Park :) Thank you, appreciate the kind comment~! Hope to see you again as well! (uploading a MP LP right now if that means anything, probably available in a few hours after youtube is done lowering the quality hehe). :D
Kinda disappointed the news bit went away, made me instantly interested in the rest of the video
I always base in the plateau/plain right across the river from the cockpit next to the 2 cannibal tents
Great video
+Fetid Bobo I want to buy one, not build
Amazing video!Although the game play more than one year and I know all the places I have lived all you've done a pretty good job with video.
+lennertoss BG :D, Thank you~ and thanks for watching! Let me know if you had anything you were interested in :)
mine is at the boat its by feathers caves and main village
I made a house boat undetected for 3 days then made a huge base early ontip; make plenty of bonfires to burn the cannabls
lol badtips from bob
Protip: Spend the first few days getting resources and you can focus entirely on building for awhile (Play it like Dont Starve :D)
indi Rousseu, its a meme. there a like 500 - 1000 accounts with that name...
It was nice of you to show the coordinates of these locations, because i know this games map like the back of my hand
7:50 oh lol. the empty deep crater thingy :D
Thanks for the video mate
i have had a lot of fun with these spots
keep it up dude
Np~ thank you :)
I made a base in the plane, the single worst mistake of my life
+Andrew Middleton haha, well for the worst mistake of your life I'd say you've done pretty good so far :D! But yeah plane-base is a bit rough, a plane outpost might not be so bad though ^_^.
A second base by the plane is a great idea for multiplayer.
This guy deserve way more subs, great UA-camr
:O /shy - thanks mate~
from the largest island on the east side (big mountain north) just west of the island up on the first cliff is a nice pocket with a 2nd cliff above and a cliff down to the water going around you
Thanks for sharing ^_^
So, me and a buddy set up on one of the islands off the cliff and the beached boat. However, we made ziplines from the island to the beach, and from the top of the cliff near the small hut outside the respawn village, from there we use the zipline to send all logs straight down to our island. At first cannibals weren't a problem, till they started coming in groups of 8 with molotoves, so I set up traps all over the zipline region and their camp.
whoa very useful info! Great video! :)
Thank you :)
Just a small warning is the devs have made cannibals more active than before so sometimes an area that is out of the way or hard to reach is better, like Red Cliff or a base that can't be attacked (water bases).
It was fun to do but make sure you can revive the person that goes down with the shell
best place for me is beached boat red cliff
-huge space to build
-no cannibals (unless you go too far)
-at least 2-3 deers
-turtles come to shore every morning (so I can make a water collector)
con:
-sometimes it's too difficult to climb up the rocks
I like how you span threw the forest, looks bad ass! Great Info too Thanks! Good Vids man!! Great job!
:D I appreciate you taking the time to comment, and I'm very glad you liked it~! Thank you!
My best location is at the clif with the big tree. Rarely cannnibals attack me at night. If they do, it will only one or two will come.
my singleplayer base is there
but mornings they reck everythgn
Over time the devs have made the cannibals better at spotting and finding the player, Red Cliff is still pretty good but the beach is a little harder to defend now. It still has some strong benefits but maybe requires a slight change in behavior. (Cannibals dont attack your base when you are away for example, so not afking in your house is a big help already).
my base was attacked by the mutants while i was away. :( what is going on?
Mine too
Thanks Dude!! Now I'm Actually enjoying The Forest rather than getting attacked 24/7
:D I'm glad it helped ~! Feel free to ask questions :)
my favorite location is right towards the beach from the crash site where theres like a tall fishing post towards the sea, its a nice quiet beach, cannibals come sometimes but its not of a big trouble, besides theres baggages nearby and tons of turtes and seabirds for feathers :D
Sameeee
WHAT!? you dont even have 1k subs how though. your content is very refined and the video was amazing and helpful. Subbed ^^
+Cody Dragongem Aww thank you :). I'm glad you liked the video!
I just recently started playing the forest and I am still quite the nub at it but your guides surely helped
+Cody Dragongem ^^ Welcome to The Forest~! Let me know if you were looking for anything else :)
Subscribed Love the vids :)
+Shazzamm Gaming :D ! Thank you~!
i like number 3 because it has a lot of space for everything! i survive there easily, BTW love the video i thought you would have more subs than that!
/shuffles foot shyly on the ground shyly.. lol :)
+Fetid Bobo lol ok 👍🏻
Where about a is this area? Me and a friend are new and carnt find it
Hi :D ~! So in the video you see this part: ua-cam.com/video/iHcO1xg29p4/v-deo.htmlm50s
This is the respawn area, when you die in single player (first time/when your respawn counter is up) you'll spawn right at the bottom of a shaft and when you climb out you'll be there. With the camera I show how to go from there, to the Red Cliff base (basically run towards the ocean :D).
On the map Red Cliff is here: theforestmap.com/#-661.6,1513.7
And if you're unfamiliar with cave 2/the respawn village this video might be of interest: ua-cam.com/video/lOWODolDqOE/v-deo.html with it you can get the modern axe, map, compass, and a boat load of supplies pretty easily AND it will take you from the yacht beach to the respawn village I talked about - putting you in a good position to head towards Red Cliff.
Video starts at 1:05
waaat, pretty sure it starts at 20:06 ;)
Wow very nice work man! The intro felt real lol. Like and sub to your channel :) keep up the good work
+Chris Morgan :D Thank you! Glad you liked it~ Thanks for the sub too :)
I havent played this for over a year but I built my base in Geese lake glad it came up in your list :D
Your building skills are flawless.
Geese lake is easily my favorite base I’ve ever made and I built huge walls
Around and made a huge 2 story cabin
Great video. #1 Beach in my book
i built my base on one of em off shore islands u can build a bridge or get there by raft or swim but its a pretty good area
every place that you choose in the video are SO COOL BRO!!!....it has a nice spot, fountain, waterfall,
BEACH,and defendable....IM SO PROUD BRO...
IMPRESIVE
👏🎅
+Nur Aliff Wooo~! That's awesome! I'm Glad you liked them :D! Very happy, hope you can find a place you'll find home :)
the voice sounds so soothing
:D Thank you~
So agreed with that lol
Chen Jake
hey i really like the production quality and aerial shots in your videos, excellent work. also the news helicopter intro, was classicly awesome! most dipshits will watch that, pass it up, and not even blink twice. it was golden how-ever.!! epic-sauce!
+DocsWorld Wow thanks :D, appreciate the compliment! Hope people who like this kind of stuff won't pass it up hahaha, but I know it's not for everyone. Just build the community that likes what I can do - and I take feedback to improve ofc :)
Thanks again mate! Really nice :D
Island 3 with 2 zip lines one to land and one from land is perfect
Awesome base spots dude! Gonna use them for sure!
And nice base builds, never would come up with those :)
+Rico-Renar Reenumägi :3 Thank you! Glad the video can be of use ~
Are you talking about my two base videos (mountain base, and Laputa base)? :D thanks~ I try to make them really different, push what you'd see in the game. Maybe people can get more reasonable ideas from them, but at the same time be like Huh.. I wouldn't have expected to see that. I want a little surprise lol. My hope at least, :D. I appreciate it ! ~
Beautiful. :)
+Masyebra D'aww... No, you are! :D. Thank you !
+Fetid Bobo nice vid bro :) i just want to ask how you flying ???
Thank you :), you can fly and a lot of other stuff with: ua-cam.com/video/gfTqEzFRPvI/v-deo.html (ModAPI), video acts as an intro and guide on getting ModAPI
I recommend one more base location: near a Cannibal Village (3:49) you find a valley, I build there my first fortress, because near the beach where the turtle activity is very high, there are so much resources nearby, easy to defend there is two ways to attack my fortress (but the cannibals use always one), the contra(s): High Cannibal activity
i think building near sinkhole is great
pros:
you have easy access to sinkhole(you need to find the glitch)
easy to defend
near a lot of herbal resources like mari gold etc.
you are near 2 cannibal camps
you have a lot of rocks
cons:
there is not much food and sticks
cannibals sometimes use the place as a path
when you cut trees it looks terrible
The sinkhole is full with deers on PS4 i don't even need to go hunting they spawn all the time in front of me
@@JonnyGamingYT wait really? I actually never noticed that
Fetid bobo, thank you for the info!
4:50 look at that cannibal doing parkour in the top right corner XD
Spider cannibal, spider cannibal, can do anything a spider can do. lol
But 4 is a really good recommendation, and I am happy that you observed this spot and thought the same as me
lol me and my bro started playing and built three of these base locations without have seen this video
Love your channel and videos keep up the great work.
The beach is my favourite only once i encountered 1 cannibal near there.
What beach are you on? I encounter like 5 armsy's, a day at least on mine
I like to build multiple small and low profile bases scattered across the peninsula. Also some caves have tents and fire pits near their entrances, so once theyre cleared caves are really safe havens
"Turtles and Fishes" lol. Fish, my friend, fish.
The plural noun for fish is fishes. Both can be used :)
i got a floating base in the middle of sink hole at the top with zip lines it's pretty cool whoever hasn't done it yet should loll
dude my base is in place 3
That's one of my favorites :D, first area I found where cannibals wouldn't require me to start a tree sap farm in order to build something.
Fetid Bobo yea just later it get harder to get threes there but its good
That's true, sometimes I built small log catchers at the bottom of the hill so I could just throw stuff down - there is a bit of back and forth, especially if you use the island later.
Fetid Bobo i dont but o will send you in weekend also nice place for base is next to airplane not for place but you hawe a lot of candy and stuff
The respawning suite cases are very helpful~ But candy will also make you a really big boy lol, I made a video on it.. its a little confusing so I'll probably make a "just do this to not be fat" video soon too, but: ua-cam.com/video/FLR70A4cZ3E/v-deo.html
tl;dw, Soda and Candy always add overeating points even if you're starving, meaning you will almost always gain weight when you consume them.
I'm a new The Forest player so my base is a little noobish. Its right next to the plane. Lol
+Fetid Bobo wow mate you are a really nice guy!
D'aww... /blush - Ty mate~
Have a good day ;)
Amazing videos man
+Riley Sikes :D ! Thank you, appreciate that ~!
wish there were drawbridges in The Forest ;-;
Fetid Bobo you cant say cannibal and smart in one sentence .
Fetid Bobo yeah, like a platform+door+rope ,that'd be really cool
4:25 is hart at the beginning cause of the rocks that you need to climb up,but if you have stairs a very good place
Lol youtube put this in "held for review" because of bad words. Where..? What..? haha, approved so others could read your recommendations :)
No one: . . . . . . . .
Cannibal, appears in front of my base
Me: LoOkS lIkE mEaTs BaCk On ThE mEnU BOIS!!!
Human is the best foodsource in this game. I think I willbuilt a big trap in the main Village to have enough bones and meat
The big yellow tree to the right of the yacht. Not the one on the hill. But to the left while running to it
your like the Kcmo of the forest lol
This was pretty well done! And it helped alot aswell :p
