- Throughout the entirety of the Shinjuku Showdown, there’s been amazing chapters left & right, but I think there’s one chapter that’s arguably the best in the entire arc; even the best in the entire series, and it’s chapter 257. Although you can really make a case for a lot of chapters in this series for being the best depending what you enjoy as a reader when it comes to the series, when it comes to my perspective; I find chapter 257 to be a masterpiece, a treat, and one of the few chapters that I have seen 90% of readers absolutely adore. In this video, I’ll be talking about all of the reasons I believe this chapter has a strong case to be the best in the series & since I value the time of you and I, let’s just get into it.

Yuji not having any lines of dialogue or thoughts after the first Black Flash and Locking In is one of the coldest manga moments in recent memory
It's also realistic and it shows how focused Yuji was on taking down Sukuna. His mind was in perfect "blank" state, exactly as Todo taught him.
Wanna know something even colder ? He got sidelined once again after all the locked-in black flash moment just by yuuta/gojo.

"A reward for sticking with this series for so long" is the best way to describe 257. Yuji is the type of character that thrives in delayed gratification. The "suffering builds character" meme isn't entirely wrong, and when it's finally time to break the cycle of pain and step up, you just know our boy Himtadori puts numbers
250, 257 and 260. The best chapters of the Shinjuku Showdown after the battle of the strongest. (imo)

Shoutout to Ino beating the “ useless” allegations in this chapter as well. Bro assisted as best he could through out the whole battle, and helped yuji landed two extra black flashes by distracting sukuna.
This is why you’re my favorite “JJK UA-camr.” A pure analysis that isn’t necessarily pushing an agenda, just an interpretation/observation of what Gege is trying to show us through his work. I genuinely believe most readers have their eyes closed but not you Hundred.
Yuji really embodies the true definition of strength in the series, 257 was the nail in the coffin
I wish more people talked about 259 as well. Choso's excellent death (no more needs to be said), the payoff for Fuga finally arriving with incredible artwork showing the insane destruction & the clever binding vow used for it, and the aftermath leaving Yuji devastated & questioning himself with Sukuna coldly walking out from the chaos, it's eerily similar to Shibuya; and of course Todo coming back with the doohickey arm as the cherry on top was another cool parallel.
The best chapter is gonna be the one where Megumi locks in.

the line "Yuji became equal with the king, and then surpassed him" is still one of the coldest narrator lines of this story to date. Yuta is bound to fail still relying on Gojo instead of just getting better is why things went sideways in shibuya. xD

2nd for me Yuuji is a solid "Locked In" character but Yuuta is "Stand on Business" character making No.1 Nonetheless I love them both, want both to succeed and I loved the small interactions they had. They are vastly different yet so alike in some aspects

Don’t forget when sukuna was about end Yuji with that domain it was Yuta in Gojo’s body that stopped him dead in his tracks. Since their fight Sukuna always refers to him, even doing his hand signs just like Gojo. He left a big impression on Sukuna

Everyone else is like a fancy new toy for Sukuna to play with but Yuji? He’s the only other kid on the playground that challenges Sukuna’s rule.
Yuta with all of his plans chose to bet on everything except Yuji itadori, higaruma did, todo did, Choso did. They all bet on Yuji itadori & I dare anyone to tell me who has a better chance at killing Sukuna
I get what you’re saying but actions speak louder than words, Yuta doesn’t have to wank Yuji and place his bets on him like some typical side character dying for his development. Yuta is unique in the cause that this series after all started with him.
Does he not have his own beliefs and the reason he fights just like Yuji? Yuta is a key player to the reason why Yuji is taking it to sukuna so I don’t think you’re being fair when comes to him. People are trying to find reasons to hate on Yuta and it’s corny.
@@joeycash9739Yuji is way more significant in the fight than Yuta in all accounts, even from a writing standpoint. Yeah, Yuta has his own reasons and beliefs for the fight, *but* that doesn’t change the fact Sukuna sees him as a barely anything more new toy to play with while Yuji is challenging Sukuna’s very ideals to the point it pisses him off, it is not the same at all. And Yuta’s part in the fight is definitely significant let’s not downplay him, but at the same time, not as much as Yuji, without Yuji Sukuna wouldn’t have lost as much output as he has. So I don’t think the post was trying to hate on Yuta but rather credit Yuji, because Yuji deserves that credit more than anyone in the entire fight every since Gojo died.
@@user-yw6jh6zm1q Another comment in which you display bias, Yuji didn’t do anything prior to Yuta using his domain. Sukuna would’ve destroyed Yuji easily before allowing himself to get touched. Yuta was the sole reason Yuji was able to attack him and went on take a world slash point blank.
Yuji isn’t the king of main character that can do things by himself, he depends on others. Just like he’s depending on Todo right now, Yuta being in Gojo body actually saved Yuji from getting caught in his domain. I have no issues with Yuji getting the spotlight but to say he’s been more of a factor than Yuta is ridiculous. Sukuna thinks Yuji is insignificant, and even said he finally found a role after Yuta did his domain. Be honest here man

The greatest chapter in the series is 214 imo. Everything about it was damn near perfect. The foreshadowing, the hype, the reveals, the art, simply peak jjk.

253 and 261 is my favorite because it presents to us the difference in power sukuna has over everyone else because of his morals.. the author does a good job at applying his lack of morals to be representative by his fighting style and CT. Him overpowering and pondering maki after feeling like he was being challenged by someone who doesnt even have cursed energy really made me like sukuna on a different level. Yuta, on the other hand showed us how gojo was mistreated and mentally abused. Everyone wanted him to be this thing that stands up to anyone, but nobody talked about how isolated he felt despite always being optimistic. Yuta, one of the few who actually cares about gojo for who gojo is, instead steps up to take his place and carry on his legacy. These 2 chapters bring forth good character development for yuta, maki, and sukuna

Yes good explanation about Kenjaku breaking the seal on Yuji finger and how sukuna manage to assimilate all the power in one finger,🤝 Gege was cooking since day one, but the thing with Gege, he show something chapter one but explain it far away and at this moment your say Ow i have seen this thing somewhere, he is good and he know what he is doing.
You know now that I think about it. This whole fight since Gojo’s death has reminded me of the old stick ninja videos I used to watch on…. New Grounds I think??
Like the way the fight starts off with the most powerful solo fighter going toe to toe with the entire group of fighters and picks them off one by one until he hits a wall with one of the fighters (Yuji in this case) that can handle his own with him while the others try to recover.
Those videos always hyped tf out of me when I was a kid, and watching Yuta hop into Gojo’s body to use his powers as an absolute last resort option floods my mind with those stick ninja parallels again.
Yuji will definitely get his shining moment once and for all, and it’s going to be placed among the greatest fight scenes in anime history when it gets animated

This video is IMMACULATE! I was high key thinking the same thing when the chapter dropped a few weeks back. Yuji hitting his lick was executed flawlessly. Reminded me of the days you waited for Ichigo to drop his Bankai the 1st time or when Naruto 1st got his sage mode. You believed in the character and wanted to see their upgraded bag. The way Gege writes his story with this sense of delayed gratification is superb. And I'm glad you see the play too @Hundred and made these solid videos to show us.

about the *Enchain* incident: when Sukuna imbued his "soul" into Yuji's finger before ripping it off, did that also include the "essense" of Sukuna that was present in each of the fingers Yuji consumed, or did whatever "power up" gained from the finger consumption remain with Yuji
and also, if Sukuna transfered *ALL* of his being into that one finger before feeding it to Megumi, how was it even possible for him to maintain control of Yuji's body after that finger was separated from Yuji's body?

I think it's just incredible that in chapter 1 gege already had the thought of having the villain be friends with the other villain who became the protagonist's mom having a kid with the villain's reincarnated twin brother and putting a 20th of him in their son
We get Yuji going blow for blow with Sukuna, Ino being clutch, a flashback with some older sorcerers, it’s an extremely solid chapter

In the last chapter prior Yuji started ripping out Sukuna’s heart before Yuta shows up in Gojo’s body. I hope that Yuji stole a chunk of that and ate it while they were in their domains. And that by the time they get out, Yuji has fours arms too 😂
Yuji's fights are always the best to me. They highlight how talented Gege can be when it come to flow between panels. They are always so kinetic and never bogged down by too much exposition just to explain each attack and counter-attack like so many fights since the time skip. Which imo has really bogged down this story for a while now and made even Gojo v Sukuna feel tedious.

I've actually animated chapter 257, And animating it way through I realized why YUJI IS THE GOAT!!!
The only hard part about that project was maintaining Sukuna's curious expression and Yuji's controlled hatred

I personally think the backstory/ explanation for yuji getting this random powerup feels very iffy, it’s a great chapter but the whole “I am your uncle via reincarnation “ feels very scuffed. Even if they did foreshadow it before
I say this because yuji is the new Ichigo, he is somehow related to any and all major villains, Kenny is his mom, he’s chosos brother, Sukuna is his uncle and he’s also todos brother for reasons unknown
Sukuna and Yuji's connectionn has always been known since the beginning it was just a matter of how.
It was already said he would get shrine eventually by Gojo.
Choso is his brother through kenjaku doing fucked up things to their mums.
Todo isn't really his brother he just likes Yuji cause of his taste in women which to Todo speaks volumes of your love for the game of sorcery.
Besides that the only powers he got are powers that come from his circumstances. 1. being sukuna's vessel and 2. Because of his innate power of being a vessel he is able to consume cursed objects and get powers from them hence consuming his half brothers and taking their powers. All reasonably explained. Better yet he hasn't mastered any yet so it doesn't feel overwhelming.

Second of all you literally missed the whole point of that conversation. He wasn’t trying to convince Sukuna. He already knew what Sukuna’s answer would be. Yuji was trying to show Sukuna what he fights for. Sukuna already asked him about this the first time he swapped into Megumi and he and Yuji fought in 214. Yuji didn’t even want to answer or see reason with him. Yuji that whole time was fighting on fumes and just lost the only role he thought he was good for which was to be a vessel for Sukuna. Now time has passed and he’s finally understanding his own place in the world and what life and death means to him outside of that self imposed cog mindset. Him pitying Sukuna doesn’t mean he’s suddenly trying to change him into a good guy. It’s in his nature to want to recognise that things aren’t so black and white like he addressed in the chapter. Sukuna has addressed multiple times how he doesn’t care or value life and Yuji had been struggling with what that meant to him. This latest chapter was Gege finally bringing to light the conclusion Yuji has come to.
