Lol when I try a new pair of shoes, it’s always an instant injury for me 🤣. I’m too scared to stray from my every day shoe. I think I’ll just keep buying it over and over again until they don’t make it any more.
Your marathon efforts, I take my 🎩 off to you. I ran my first ever half marathon at the weekend and quite honestly didn’t give it the respect it deserved. Entered 2 weeks before, approx 4 weeks of 30 miles weeks only this year (of course had 30 mile weeks behind me last year) and was hoping to run 87 minutes🤣. For the first 9 miles was on pace (average 6:40 mile), then just ran out of puff....finished 1 second over 90 minutes😳 Will definitely have to give it another crack with training but I’m not get younger (45). Keep you the hard work👍
Just got these and they’ve just been sitting on my shoe rack as I recover from the LA marathon. I’m so excited to put some mileage on them! Great video as always
I know it's been a while since you tried out the Tempo. I got mine back on Feb 29th and have been waiting for it to warm up enough to run in. It finally warmed up above -15F and I was able to lace these guys up. Went out for a 8+ mile tempo run in them and had similar results as you. They felt light, firm yet forgiving and just comfortable at lower speeds, but when I move up to the 7 minute pace they really came on. It's like have a sports car that drives fine at daily driving speed but when you hit the throttle the car comes alive, yeah so do these shoes. They became lighter, more responsive and made me want to run harder. Love the shoe, might save them for speed work and racing.
I love these shoes so far. I think they might become my half shoe! Might end up swapping the laces. These are what I’d hoped the Freedom 3 from Saucony would be.
As a rule of thumb i always change the laces on my news shoes mostly because i prefer thick solid ones for a good foothold and as well to make my shoes more unique
The DNA flash I felt really good for tempo run, and it is really light. A bit to squishy for slow running. And yes laces are elastic, I don't really like them as well, why not traditional ones!?! Ciao and thanks for the video!
I have a pair and really like them. The laces are a bit too elastic although I haven’t experienced issues with my foot wanting to come up. The midsole is magical and I hope Brooks uses it in other shoes
I tried the runners knot in these and it works but I also noticed that that tongue of the shoe is almost too short to make use of that top eyelet. Great shoe though!
Great, planning to buy this one or Asics Novablast. But will wait for your review on Asics Novablast and then decide which one to buy. Thanks for the review.
I haven’t tried the novablast, but my understanding is that they are shoe opposites. Figure out what you want the shoe for and then the decision is made for you.
I have the shoe as well. Only have 10 miles on them but I haven't had any problems other than blades being to elastic like you said. Other than that I'm really digging them.
Wow, another day another shoe... you’ve been on a roll lately. Love the midsole color. Would this pair be a good intro into the world of Brooks? BTW, MA just declared a state of emergency. I hope the Boston Marathon will still happen.
Love the color way it almost looks like the blue would glow at night possibly? I know it’s a weird question but you never know. I don’t like to run at night but just saying they might have a glow! I’m not sure 🤔 though.
Definitely not the best lock down. I took them on some easy trails and going over rocks felt like my foot was sliding all over the edge of the midsole. Other than that I’m impressed so far. Great first impressions!
On your review and others I have this shoe on its way to me now - exciting, I am hoping it will be similar to the NB Rebel which I love but will enable some daily training too. I have wider feet so hopefully won’t encounter issues with the width 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Hello, may I ask if your thumb will touch the forefront of the toe cap when you move about this shoe model. Is it the wrong size? My feet are closer to the 2e version, and the foot centimeters are 27.9 centimeters. I take 28.5 shoes. Do I need to get 29 centimeters? I have hesitated for the past two days, so I only try on them indoors. If I hesitate, I shouldn’t change them. Running 10-20k under the current situation may cause black nails? Or how much will be stretched by wearing shoes for a long time? Thank you
Thanks for the first impression! Would you choose this shoe over the NB fuelcell rebel for speed work out? I’m debating between those 2. Keep up the good work Kofuzi!
Philippe Gagne both awesome, both can go fast, get the one that fits you better, last and drop 👍🏼, also do u prefer a sock like fit (rebel) or traditional fit (tempo)
Hi, love your work! What would you say is the best daily trainer shoe at the moment? I’m looking for something for those easy miles, I’m using the peg turbo 2 for tempo runs but I need something for those slower runs.
Nike Pegasus turbo 2, brooks Hyperion tempo, or the hoka rincon for a daily trainer that will be used for a wide range of distances? I’ve been researching for a long time and I’m trying to decide.
I'm getting reall curious about this shoe. How does it compare to the Adidas Boston 8 in your opinion? On paper, they are described pretty much the same. But I need a bit more cushion for my marathon (and something "less" than the Clifton 6, maybe). Would this do?
Nice review. How do you compare it to the Kinvara 11 in term of cushion? I am hesitating between the two of them for my first half marathon and training.
Oh wow... A first run for a new shoe almost everyday 👍 considering the broad options of interesting shoes this year, this is really useful 👍👍 just wondering how are you going to get the complete 100miles review for each shoe 😅
cristianfcao I own all of the above, all great and can go fast, pick the one that fits you best (last) and the drop you prefer/can handle, plus the design of the fit (sock like, conventional, gusseted tongue, non gusseted, bootie etc)
So many new shoes although don’t think these have arrived yet in the UK. So do you prefer these to the SL20 for marathon pace work? Same size as normal for you in the Tempo?
Same size I really like both. SL20 has more of a racer feel to me. But I think it’s going to come down to preference, whether you want something a bit springier in the Tempo or something with a bit off a push off or plate-like feel with the SL20
kofuzi they must, I don’t know who in R&D keeps thinking it’s a great idea. Easiest example I’d give them, my men’s size 11 in almost EVERY SINGLE BRAND has 45” shoe laces, some flat some round some oval some taught and some with the slightest bit of stretch (looking at you hoka 👀). All of which I can understand...NOT BROOKS, this Hyperion tempo has 48” laces and can stretch almost another 2-4” depending on how much you pull them. I don’t get it, I just wanna understand 🤷🏻♂️😭
Would you have a recommendation for a shoe for an over weight person. I’m 5’10” and 230lbs. Run around 12 miles a week and increasing to full marathon training this summer. Currently using Nike Pegasus. Thanks.
Matt Kewenig Hi, Matt! I’m a similar runner. 5’10” and right around 200lbs. I run 25-30 miles per week. I’ve had great luck with the Hoka Clifton 6 (300-400 miles or so) and have 10 miles into the New Balance 1080v10. If I can make any suggestions for guys built like us, it’s to have your foot fitted if possible, and rack miles in something protective and well-cushioned. For me personally (I’m 30 and was quite athletic (read as punished my joints) as a young person), my feet and my joints are very sensitive to what is under foot! I can’t go full Bondi or the like, but enjoy a well cushioned shoe for a daily trainer as I’m working my weight down and leg strength up.
I'm going to recommend something like Clifton 6 or Rincon. Unless you need additional support, I'd go with the Bondi 6 or NB 1080. I don't really like Bondi 6 or NB 1080 because the lack of ground feel and can be abysmal for speedwork, but they're still fantastic shoes if you are not planning to use it for a race or something. Super comfortable.
SoznyW I’m only a few miles into the 1080s. Loving the feel because the fitment is so good. I actually find the ride firmer in the first few miles than my Cliftons, but I hear fresh foam really comes in after 25-30 miles. Looking forward to seeing how they develop!
Matt Kewenig I have some odd fitment in my feet, so until broken I had a couple hot spots. No blisters. Just rubs. That just emphasizes the importance of proper fitment. If they fit your feet, the Clifton 6 is hard to beat!
Adidas SL 20. Bouncier and more cushioned feel in my opinion. I also just purchased both. Hyperion Tempo feels more like a racer to me with its super light breathable mesh upper and firmer midsole. I love both; just my impression so far.
Zanrok R3 can definitely be a racer, I’ve raced tons of races in my 3 pairs, but they have the same front stack 20mm, the tempo just has more in the rear 28 vs 24 because brooks uses 8mm drop vs Skechers 4mm. And fwiw, the R3 has more cushion feel than the firmer tempo, so even less traditional racing flat feel
@@scottbatula7392 Ya its probably more in line with the Razor, shoes these days are blending between tempo/fast shoe and daily trainer. Hence my original question. Interesting that you think the Tempo is firmer than the R3 though. That leads me to believe the DNA Flash is not as cushy as it's made out to be.
Thanks for the review super helpful as always! I still can't reconcile a $160 for daily trainer (compared to some other brands having their new models at $110) hence my thoughts here www.strava.com/athletes/23786606/posts/8418498 . The laces felt weird for me too but the best quality of the shoe is the 7oz weight. Will definitely give the Hyperion another few runs and try to fit it in my rotation. Keep up the great work Kofuzi!
somebody: nobody can run everyday with a different shoe
kofuzi: hold my beer
😂😂👍
He must have a really strong adapting skill. Its hard to keep changing shoes all the time, each one with different weight, height, softness and fit
Lol when I try a new pair of shoes, it’s always an instant injury for me 🤣. I’m too scared to stray from my every day shoe. I think I’ll just keep buying it over and over again until they don’t make it any more.
Just a heads up. I think the title is spelled wrong. Just want the folks looking for good content to be able to find you.
Upvote for this. Also not having "Brooks" in the title made it not come up in search towards the top. Just want to support!
Only been watching for a few months, but the production value of these videos has been on an upward trajectory! Another great vid Kofuzisan!
Your marathon efforts, I take my 🎩 off to you. I ran my first ever half marathon at the weekend and quite honestly didn’t give it the respect it deserved. I really loved the running video chat you did with Jameson, I think you guys should more like that
Great to see Brooks finally coming out with a new midsole. Looks like a fun shoe to run in, I especially love that pop of color on the midsole.
Great looking shoes too. Love that color,
Just got these and they’ve just been sitting on my shoe rack as I recover from the LA marathon. I’m so excited to put some mileage on them! Great video as always
Switch up the laces to regular non-elastic ones from some of your older shoes. It's going to make a big difference. Keep on making great content!
Finally! Have been waiting for this! Feel it’s the nicest shoe on your foot ever in this blue color midsole
Love the Hyperion Tempo. Also love the I updated production style in the videos. Keep up the great work.
Looks like an exciting shoe. Be interesting to see how it holds up to 300-400 miles. Another great Vid. Thanks. 👊🙏
I am looking forward to the hyperion elite 2!!!
Intro was awesome, thought I was in NOLA for a second! Great review, another shoe I want to try out.
there are so many good shoes on the market right now

Kofuzi great work again. Not sure how you manage to pull off a run with a new show every day. Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you for the hyperion review! 👍👏👍
The blue trim looks SHARP
Agreed. I struggled with the left foot too with lockdown. Very comfortable. They should put some more structured laces in for the next version
the laces on this shoe are weak. I had the same problem
I just don’t know why anyone ever chooses stretchy laces (unless it’s a shoe meant to be slipped on/off)
Big thump ups for the intro 👌👌👌
Awesome music! Awesome review!
Edit your title btw.
Good job on getting a pair! brooks called me saying that they ran out of the elites had to go to a local store to get some tempos.
Not gonna lie I was head bopping all through the first minutes of this video...people were staring at me in a weird way lol ...great song man
hahaha! that's awesome!
compare it to razor 3 and smackdown ! :) would love your comparison.
Lots of great shoes these days...perhaps a multi-shoe comparison by shoe category makes sense???
You are reading my mind. But I think I need to hit another round of speed workouts in each shoe before I can talk about them across brands

ANOTHER shoe? This is madness!
I’ve had quite a backlog of shoes as I was recovering from Houston
Two questions: what's the rain jacket you're wearing? And what's the song in the intro?
Man your on top of the new shoe game
it's been a fun couple of weeks
Great, planning to buy this one or Asics Novablast. But will wait for your review on Asics Novablast and then decide which one to buy. Thanks for the review.
I haven’t tried the novablast, but my understanding is that they are shoe opposites. Figure out what you want the shoe for and then the decision is made for you.
R you going to try the brooks hyperion elite soon?
That intro! 💯
I have the shoe as well. Only have 10 miles on them but I haven't had any problems other than blades being to elastic like you said. Other than that I'm really digging them.

1.5 mins in and I already liked the video...you must just do run only videos as well with good music choice 🙂🙂🙂
Wow, another day another shoe... you’ve been on a roll lately. Love the midsole color. Would this pair be a good intro into the world of Brooks? BTW, MA just declared a state of emergency. I hope the Boston Marathon will still happen.
Bought this shoes. So far so good for my slow pace
Love the color way it almost looks like the blue would glow at night possibly? I know it’s a weird question but you never know. I don’t like to run at night but just saying they might have a glow! I’m not sure 🤔 though.
Man, I love the Hyperion Tempo! It just wanted to run fast!
How would they compare to the hoka rincon?
Upper is more comfortable than Rincon. Rincon is a bit softer.
Both fast shoes
Definitely not the best lock down. I took them on some easy trails and going over rocks felt like my foot was sliding all over the edge of the midsole. Other than that I’m impressed so far. Great first impressions!
On your review and others I have this shoe on its way to me now - exciting, I am hoping it will be similar to the NB Rebel which I love but will enable some daily training too. I have wider feet so hopefully won’t encounter issues with the width 🤞🏼🤞🏼

scott batula thanks for the info! I like the traditional fit and big fan of the Glycerin for long runs!
Love that light blue aqua colorway
Gonna be cool to see your thoughts to the Newbalance TC, that shoe seems amazing.
i have a feeling there won't be a restock. but i'm hoping.
kofuzi I’m pretty sure they are doing a wider release.
Hi, love your work! What would you say is the best daily trainer shoe at the moment? I’m looking for something for those easy miles, I’m using the peg turbo 2 for tempo runs but I need something for those slower runs.
beacon 2
Thanks for the Brooks Review!!! I have Boston 8(fine after 45mi break in)
If you had to choose one to replace Boston 8: Hyperion Tempo or SL20?
Tempo
swapped the laces for traditional ones and feels much more secure.
i might have to try that
the rest periods in your 10 min intervalls. do you stop complete or a slow jog in between?
nice review!
Watched & read a few reviews that the out sole was slippery, noticed u did a lot of running on wet ground, did u notice any slippage?
dat colorway tho 😍
Is this a cushier version of NB Rebel thats ok for daily runner?
Hmmm, perhaps. But the feel is different. The Rebel has that shank/mini plate/thing that gives it a different kind of springiness
Nike Pegasus turbo 2, brooks Hyperion tempo, or the hoka rincon for a daily trainer that will be used for a wide range of distances? I’ve been researching for a long time and I’m trying to decide.
turbo
This shoe looks fun!
I'm getting reall curious about this shoe. How does it compare to the Adidas Boston 8 in your opinion? On paper, they are described pretty much the same. But I need a bit more cushion for my marathon (and something "less" than the Clifton 6, maybe). Would this do?
i think the two shoes should both be in your consideration. i think the boston may be a bit more forgiving for the marathon distance.
Do you take any supplements to help with running, or do you think most supplements have placebo effect ?
no, and no
Hi kofuzi, thanks for the video. I tried the shoe this week, it’s really a great shoe for tempo running, how did you feel them at a slow pace?
Nice review. How do you compare it to the Kinvara 11 in term of cushion? I am hesitating between the two of them for my first half marathon and training.
Ludovic Piejos tempo is a great shoe, save your money and buy 2 pairs of kinvara 10, they’re around $60 all over the web
Another new shoes???
Oh wow... A first run for a new shoe almost everyday 👍
considering the broad options of interesting shoes this year, this is really useful 👍👍
just wondering how are you going to get the complete 100miles review for each shoe 😅
I guess I’ll just have to run a lot
Hello, how do you think about the outsole durability of this pair so far?
what about after 100 miles? how do you feel about them?
Just watching this on 6/3/2020. The lack of a mustache is unsettling.
Hahaha!
These shoes look sick. I wonder how it performs in the hot and humid tropics.
Ling the Lipstick Junkie I’ve got a decent amount of miles on mine, just fine and they breathe well, mesh upper is very thin
As a non-plated and relatively cheap shoe for a sub 3:00 marathon, what do you think: This, the Razor 3, Fuelcell Rebel, Peg Turbo, other?
cristianfcao I own all of the above, all great and can go fast, pick the one that fits you best (last) and the drop you prefer/can handle, plus the design of the fit (sock like, conventional, gusseted tongue, non gusseted, bootie etc)
They look fast. And at the end of the day isn’t that what’s important here?
So many new shoes although don’t think these have arrived yet in the UK. So do you prefer these to the SL20 for marathon pace work? Same size as normal for you in the Tempo?
Same size
I really like both. SL20 has more of a racer feel to me. But I think it’s going to come down to preference, whether you want something a bit springier in the Tempo or something with a bit off a push off or plate-like feel with the SL20
Can you do a video of your current shoe rotations?
My rotation is pretty much my last six or seven First Run videos. Once I hit the 100 mile review, I donate the shoe to charity
Nice shoes and review!
Btw there's a typo in the title: Hyper"i"on
Amazing shoe IMO, and yes the laces suck (every single time brooks! 🤦🏻♂️ either stretchy or super long) , swapped mine out immediately
they must think that people like them?
kofuzi they must, I don’t know who in R&D keeps thinking it’s a great idea. I don’t get it, I just wanna understand 🤷🏻♂️😭
just wish the blue was more blue and less grayish
Which watch is your daily driver?
How many pairs of running shoes do you own ?
Would you have a recommendation for a shoe for an over weight person. I’m 5’10” and 230lbs. Run around 12 miles a week and increasing to full marathon training this summer. Currently using Nike Pegasus. Thanks.
Matt Kewenig Hi, Matt! I’m a similar runner. 5’10” and right around 200lbs. I run 25-30 miles per week. I’ve had great luck with the Hoka Clifton 6 (300-400 miles or so) and have 10 miles into the New Balance 1080v10.
Thanks guys. I was leaning towards Hoka Clifton 6 so glad you both endorsed that one.
What is the style number in the inside of the shoe?
are there multiple style numbers for the Hyperion tempo?
Very cool looking but they dont sell it in wide....what a disappointment
Which has better cushioning, this or the Adidas sl20?
Adidas SL 20. Bouncier and more cushioned feel in my opinion. I also just purchased both. Hyperion Tempo feels more like a racer to me with its super light breathable mesh upper and firmer midsole. I love both; just my impression so far.
@@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 thank you for the insight
Brooks say it is a stable shoe. Apart from your lacing issues, did you feel it was more stable than, say, the Razor 3 or SL20?
I haven’t tried razor 3. I did not think it was more stable than SL20. The torsion plate there does a lot of work.
Michael Lancaster more stable than the R3 IMO, and slightly less than the SL20, smack dab in the middle of those models
@@scottbatula7392 Thank you. That is helpful. The Adidas fit of the Boston and Tempo has always suited me.
How does it compare to the Fuel Cell Tempo?
This is lighter and bouncier. I like this more.
Would you prefer The Hyperion Tempo over the Skechers GoRun Ride 8? It seems both might be in a similar category... Nice recap!
Zanrok not same category IMO, tempo is more like the R3
@@scottbatula7392 I would think the razor3 is more a racing flat though. The Tempo has a good amount of stack height.

Does this show fit true to size?
yup
Thanks! Looks like a nice shoe to train in.
Looks like razor 3.
its laces is the problem. other reviewers also mention it :)
3:04 high sea level
Anyone fishing there?
I think that is not the sea. It is Lake Michigan.
Change the shoe lace ..
Looks: 10.0
DNA flash is a dream has just enough cushion pretty responsive and this particular shoe is soo light. The laces are literal trash.
i'm so confused about the choice of laces
I feel I can never get a good lock down with the stretchy laces and I also feel the tongue sliding when I run.
Thomas Paplawsky how does the midsole compare to Pegasus 36
First
