Okay I get that it might be weird to not use an applicator with the tampon when you grew up using it but as someone that never used an applicator it just angers me that it's so much single use plastic :o tampons and pads are unfortunately already so bad on the environment but adding THAT much plastic to every single tampon is insane to me🙈

The pea soup is a nice basis for experiments in the kitchen. I like to spice it with summer savory and nutmeg. You can also try it with garlic, ginger or fresh parsley.
Also you can grate a fresh carrot and/or celery into it before or when it starts boiling.
I like to cook it with sausages - usually Wienerle, Bockwurst, Göttinger or Krakauer - or with small pieces of smoked bacon.

Imodium 😅, Oropax😅, ,Erbsensuppe 😅, Popcorn - Birkenstock. So funny and interesting. I always miss Sauerkirschen im Glas. something which is also typical German. About tampons: Many young women are using menstruations cups - my daughters included. I must say that I envy the young generation for them. They are environment-friendly, reliable, handy and cheap. I would have liked to use them. Do you have them in the USA? It is interesting that you are importing German tampons into the USA - and tea. Did you know that Ostfriesland in Northern Germany is the largest consumer of black tea in the world? People there are drinking more tea than Indians, Chinese, English or Irish people. Thank you for your video. Always interesting to see Germany through your eyes.

so laughing when you talking about Birkenstock. Here in France Germans are often called Birkenstock. Also my Exwife said this... until she found that Birkenstock do not have only the white shoes. Then she loved it...
It is crazy to see the different between countries about food or for example tampons. Same here in France, you do not find soups, as in Germany. But may other things, like food in cans in the variation you find in Germany... But also the variation of cheese, as in France, you do not find in Germany. So very often, I have to fill up my car with stuff family and frinds asking for, when I drive in both directions...

The US tampons have an applicator - mainly plastic .. they think it is more hygienic when you do not have to insert the tampon by hand. I don't know about the US-ladies - but I am quite prone to wipe my fingers from blood stains in the booth and then go to the sink and wash my hands thoroughly afterwards. So this whole applicator thing passed me by (not bleeding anymore, as I am too old). But to each their own.

"erwtensoep" or "snert" it is called. Even the weather has a name of this soup. One thing I'd bring the other way if I ever got to the US again (first and only time I went there was in 1993 when we spent our summer vacation in FL) would be Wintergreen TicTacs! Fell in love with those as that 10 year old kid and later on bought some more from an importer, still trying to never run out of them... Once offered one to my friend and her first reaction was "Die Dinger schmecken wie ein Klostein!!!" XD
As for the tampons, it's still kinda unbelievable how expensive they are in the US! I remember watching a documentary here on YT about homeless women in NYC and their struggles during that time of the month when they have to choose whether to spend the little money they scrounged up on hygiene products or food, be it tampons or pads. Pea soup 😁🤣 Jeez, you definitly got germanized. Up until the people born in the 1970s, hardly any Germans went on vacation without their "Knorr Erbswurst".
The Erbswurst is the same as the packet soup, only pressed into a large round tablet rolled in aluminum. Multiple servings in a large sausage-style wrapper. You could cook the Erbswurst on a camping stove if you were tired of pizza and paella on holiday.
Unfortunately, the production of Erbswurst was discontinued. On Ebay, they offer the last Erbswürste in three-digit range. This stuff has a shelf life until Armageddon.

This is great. Some things I bring back from Switzerland and Germany (some things are cheaper in Germany than Switzerland and my MIL lives 5 minutes from the German boarder) is Weleda Hustenelixier, chocolate from Switzerland, Kirsch Stengli, Swiss wine, Swiss beer (Feldschlosschen and Ueli Bier), Kirsch for Fondue, Wieso Weshalb Warum books (my kids speak Swiss German and go to German school in the US), Nusstorte, cheese for the Fondue, and some tonie's for the toniebox. I swear we aren't alcoholics 🤣🤣🤣. My brother and husband likes the beer and my mom and I like the wine. Also Kirsch is sweeter in the US. Kirsch Wasser (this is what we call it) is difficult to find and it's super expensive when we do find it. One-time we needed Kirsch for Fondue and the salesman said he didn't have it, but he has cherry vodka. I said it wasn't the same. One is a schnapps and the other is vodka. One is 90 proof and the other is 70 proof.

Hi Hayley :) Enjoying a video from you since a long time :)
About the ear plugs I just want to tell you one thing. I know what you are talking about, I like the Soft ones more but love them too. but I only use them if I really have to. Don't get too used to it, because I mentioned problems with my nebenhöhlen :) when you feel dizzy sometimes and little headache, it could be that. also I got ill faster and my eye had something. I think it all had to do with it. it was always wet in there and if something comes in there, it has perfect conditions to chill there. since I don't use them anymore and got used to sounds at sleep again I feel a lot better. I think its a natural ventilating system in your ears that can't work then, cause the wetness can't be regulated when you block the doors always. and over a longer period of time it's not good anymore, it gets bad.

One mistake a lot of people make when it comes to New Year's resolutions is neglecting to consider the _time_ they will take up. Like, for example, they resolve to _read_ more. That's laudable, but reading takes _time._ It's not _enough_ to resolve read more. You have to devote more _time_ to it, which means you have to take time away from something _else._ If you don't have a clear picture of what you're going to take time away from, you can't really expect to get more reading _done._

The variety of instant soups ("Packerlsuppen") is amazing. I always have some at home in case I get sick and can't get fresh groceries. It's the highlight of every paid sick leave. You want to check the ingredient list however. Some manufacturers (like Maggi) add MSG, preservatives and other agents, while others strictly abstain from such practices. Some people are sensitive to such ingredients.

The addition of MSG is a very sensitive topic on a global basis. From my own experience, as long as MSG is not part of the list of ingredients, it is not added as such. However, MSG is a naturally occurring chemical compound as part of the seasoning (hydrolizate) (see Maggi or Knorr seasoning liquid). MSG was also a hot topic in India in Maggi Instant Noodles, but was later determined that MSG is NOT added as a separate compound.

No, it’s not dangerous. I recommend waiting unless you truly need to (travel) for 1-2 days because otherwise whatever gave you the runners will stay inside and it really needs to go. But I always say stop when your thing starts to get formed because if you overdo it you will get a horrible constipation (or even a blockage). There are no other inherent dangers to it and sometimes people with Chron’s will use it for long periods and it helps them a lot. Just discuss it with your doctor.

It works the other way around, too:
I lived in a shared apartment for a year with a German-American 12 years ago. I got a drilling headache one day and refused ibuprofen because it gives me a stomachache. Since I couldn't find anything else, I endured it. My roommate went into the bathroom, opened his side of the mirror cabinet and pulled out a rather large bottle of small aspirin tablets from the US. I told him that aspirin was even more harmful to the stomach, but these had a special coating that was supposed to be gentler on the stomach and after some convincing I took one and after half an hour my head was fine and my stomach wasn't grumbling either. And when I had sinus problems, he gave me something special from Tylenol, took it before bed and was able to sleep through it and the next morning I felt better. I haven't found anything comparable here yet. 😊
