Hello Max, I have to make a set of pulleys for one of my little Unimat lathes so watching your approach to doing it is of particular interest... See you next week... Cheers. Paul,,
Gday Max, thanks for explaining the colours on the end of the stock, I’ve never bothered asking why there’s different colours before but now I know, is it a standard over all manufacturers or they all different, the plunging tool went way better then I thought it was going being so wide and at the spindle speed, nice and sharp and right on centre equals perfect, looking forward to next Friday, have a great weekend mate, cheers
Hi Max ... liked your quick setup in the 4 jaw chuck, you made it look so simple, hence your machining expertise. Taking shape very nicely. Will look forward to the next Installment.
G'day Max, nice to hear the new shop in moving forward Just watching this with a bacon buttie Thanks for sharing and best wishes Wonderful seeing you work the lathe, just as it should be, nice and thoroughly thought through
Nice job Max, nice to hear the lathe 'working' it's an unmistakable sound. Interesting to see how you approach getting dias and widths to size in terms of running order. Cheers, Jon
Thanks Jon . It soon put's the chinese crap motors in the scrap bin ! The one on it now is a good quality one & i even had to get that re wound with heavier windings ! It will be changed to 3 phase in the new shop .
Cheers Mate . I have the perfect job for you . My mower deck fell completely apart today , had to use a ratchet strap to hold it together to finish mowing ! Cheers .
Hi Max, that looks like nice stock to machine. I've machined up step "V" pulley's out of Extrusion Billet. Blood gummy crap that's like machining chewing gum with constant tip buildup and nothing works to relieve it. Looking like its going to be a great result. Cam
I need a J10 poly-v groove pulley Max LOL. I think grinding the groove tool accurately by hand will be the hardest part of making the pulley. Why the 4 jaw? If you are machining the whole pulley from one side in one setup wouldn't a 3 jaw be just fine? (the answer is probably in part 2)
For the extra grip pressure . Also i don't like holding raw unmachined stock in a 3 jaw . You will need an angle protractor for that one , 40 deg i think .
I am waiting for the time to re mount a new switch in a different position . I have to pull some of the headstock apart soon as well to replace a couple of noisy bearings on the counter shafts .

This was free machining , great stuff to work with . Non weldable though .
Very nice job
Cheers Adam .
G’day Max, Nice work on the pulley mate 👍 in the video you said about putting the cutter upside down. What does that do?
Sometimes it sends the chips in a downward direction , not at me ! Cheers .
Hello Max you make it look easy, but the subtle mastery of your methods speaks loudly

There's a lot of operations in making that pulley, it's deceiving and your only half way through. Great viewing Max.
Yes . They are easy , but not a 5 minute job . Cheers .
Hi Max, tapping the Vernier to set your measurement, good idea!!
