i love how you still chose to make maggie's voice sound as if it's coming through something. that charm of the original song is something i've always loved. really on the nose for the song to feel as if it's a memory. then that layer of obstruction is gone by the last verse!! and back by the last line!! aa!!
the change from "you're far too beautiful to love me" to "you're far too beautiful to leave me" strikes me right in the chest every time
God I wish they still performed live. I hope they make new music soon. Literally all their songs are just so goddamn good.

Its very rare for me to find a band where I like an entire album let alone all of their music, but The Oh Hellos is that rare one! Absolutly amazing music! It makes me feel so at peace and happy. Keep up the amazing work guys!
Have you heard of 'Fish inside a bird cage'? They have really interesting songs too, not christian as far as I'm aware but still very nice, I think there's one called "Waterfall" that this reminded me of
Everytime I listen to this I'm overwhelmed by the love God has for me. Makes my heart ache for the things I've done that hurt him but makes me feel free and loved aswell because of the fact that no matter how many times I fall short he'll never give up on me.

I think this song is about the singer's relation to God, but I think it's fitting for a romantic context too. When I think of "if you leave before the start, then there was never love at all," I think of the need to build up courage and share your feelings with the one you love. And then when I think of "if you're doing all the leaving, then it's never your love lost," it's a reminder that love is hard work but often it's worth sticking around and not leaving. Love the beautiful poetry in here.

SO excited that TTDDV is back on vinyl! I was just sitting around thinking the other day how sad I was that it was the only album not available on vinyl and it's like yall read my mind. Now if you could just conveniently announce some tour dates close to my home.... Biggest regret was missing you guys in Syracuse back in 2018, I was at school in Hamilton, NY and had an exam the next morning at 8 am. My professor was NOT sympathetic to my conundrum and wouldn't let me reschedule lol. Won't make the same mistake again, I'll be waiting in Los Angeles for yall whenever you make it!
