Oh, my oh my! The color combinations! The techniques you've taught us! And I love how you have divided the video into parts so lessons are easy to get to! Thank you, AGAIN!
Oh, your workshop is a stable!! I love it and it must be hundreds off years old in the UK. I thought I was lucky because I work in my old barn which is (around) 160 yrs old or better. 🥰 Gorgeous!
Yes it's more than 200 years old..... You will appreciate working from your barn its lovely in the summer but cold in the winter. I love it x x x Thanks for watching
I so love those colors....I am retired and I get to watch you all I want to. heh! Loving it!. I think you are funny and just love your personality and your accent. I just love it. Excellent teacher! i appreciate you so much! Hugs!
Amazing chest my kind of colors I received a buffet from my neighbor who passed away and that's exactly what I want to do to it you are an amazing artist
Love watching you do your unique art makeovers especially in bohemian styles!!! I learn so much from these videos. Thank you! As always a spectacular result. ❤
Looking through my UA-cam feed for something I wanted to watch, I noticed this super colorful piece of furniture and immediately put it on. Low and behold, it was of course YOUR video that I stumbled upon. You are so bold. So unique. Watching you work, fearlessly smudging, layering, and blending bright beautiful colors makes me want to rush to play myself. Your work inspires me to take chances. I do wonder if it is hard to find the right customer who admires your 'statement' pieces? I hear so many furniture painters say that what sells is mostly the more neutral painted pieces. But, I do have a request >> It would be really great if you listed the brand of paint and all the colors you used on your pieces. More work for you I realize, but if I want to use the same color, transfer, inlay, etc. it would be so helpful to have them listed. Many thanks. Watching you is such a guilty pleasure. Oh, one more thing, where do you post pictures of the finished pieces??? Never enough time displaying your completed project in the video.
Thanks for that wonderful comment, I will try to answer all your questions. So I'm from the UK and yes my furniture is a statement but I have been fortunate that I have carved out a niche in the market for my work and if I'm honest very often the bolder and quirkier the better they sell well. All products I use are in the descriptions box for the video so scroll down to the materials list. If you want to find a product but are having problems( unsure where to get it ) then just message me and I can help. My paint brand is always Annie Sloan....so that's a given. Lastly I believe art and creativity should inspire so I'm glad my videos make you feel like you want to just get stuck into the paint. And can I say I am truly grateful that you watch my videos we have and continue to work hard to get somewhere on UA-cam it's very hard to get traction so every subscriber really means something. Thanks lel ❤️ Oh and PS the piece in the video sold not long after the tutorial....so be brave creative and bold! !
Also you can view glamour shots of most of my work either on Instagram @madebymarleycrafts or our website madebymarley.co.uk Forgot to add this to my other message. ..X ❤️
Starting my day with you and this incredible piece of furniture. It was beautiful to begin with the beveled edged mirrors and the carved panels, all of which you brought out with your color choices, dry brushing, inlays and stamps. I have a color question: Your second color is Provence. That's a green, isn't it? On my screen it looks 💙 blue, almost periwinkle. Is that the lighting in the stable, or just how it translates to my little phone screen? I can't believe this piece of furniture was headed for the dump. I get that it's massive, and might take up too much room and air in a space with its dark, somber color, but what a statement piece you've made of it. I wonder if any bof the original owners ever see how you transform the furniture they'd rid themselves of and kick themselves. If I'd dumped this massive piece then watched this video I'd be beating my head against the wall. 😂 Beautiful work Lel. Blue and coral is a favourite combination of mine. ❤️🤗😘
Florence is a green a turquoise green but I think I added a little provence which is more leaning towards a periwinkle blue ish.... I know I can believe they were going to hit it with an axe and dump or burn it.... Its really awful what happens to so much beauty... I don't often have a pang of guilt but at first I felt bad painting it.. But the top was bad and needed fixed so I thought well at least it's been saved... If you get a chance have a look at my new video out today this was going to the tip.... It was in bad shape but it looked good in the end x
@@MadebyMarley I know what you mean by the pang of guilt. So much antique and vintage Italian furniture is made of gorgeous old wood. I wouldn't be able to paint it. But I think you made the right choice. In its original state it could have sucked the air out of a room. You turned her into a dancing Can-Can girl out of a Toulouse Latrecque (I know that isn't spelled right🙄) painting. So much more fun. As for taking an axe and burning stuff. So sad when people don't see obvious beauty. There's a young guy restoring an old house in the tiny village down the road. I rescued 4 doors, a shutter and a great medicine cabinet. But later I met his mother and bought something from her. When she told me what he'd thrown out I wanted to cry. She kept begging him to save things, but nope. The mother managed to save a few pieces, really old, crusty tables and trunks. I wanted everything. 🤣
Thank you for this video. I just bought a dresser at a garage sale that I want to give the bohemian look to, so I really appreciate this tutorial. I'm new at this, so forgive me if I missed it in the video, but is the gold an acrylic paint? And when sealing or waxing, what are you using? Thank you again very much. You do beautiful work! Very inspiring!
Hi Nonna, Thank you so much for your comments and kind words, The gold I used was Gold Guilding paste I bought it on Amazon and it was £5.94 and here is a link to it: amzn.to/3OcKhtp when it comes to waxing which is what I did to this piece then its Rustoleum clear wax which in my option is as good any anything on the market and a reasonable price. I tend to also purchase this on Amazon and it costs about £10 a tin and again here is a link to that product for you: amzn.to/3cmrr64 I hope this is useful to you and thank you for watching my channel. I hope my videos are useful to you and I wish you lots of luck in your creative journey. Be brave and just go for it. Lel xx
