James Hetfield is such an amazing artist. He does such a kick arse job with the lyrics on all of their albums. His dept of knowledge and passion in the role of lyrical writing has resulted in so many awesome songs from a fantastic group of men. A band with so much to give out to their already fans and future ones to discover Metallica's talent/s and contribution to music as a whole band. I've loved these boys since I was 13 years old.
I missed this dark vibe from their music and lyrics. On Magnetic they were like what don't kill ya makes you more strong and now they're like what don't kill ya leaves you crippled for life. Love it. Classic Metallica.
Metallica would have sounded insane if they played like this after Justice For All I swear Death Magnetic and Hardwired is the direction they should have gone in 1990
They couldn't because Newstead is not the same caliber of bass player as Trujillo. Give Trujillo credit. I mean he was Ozzy's bass player for years. Trujillo brings that Burton effect back that made Metallica great. Don't get me wrong Newsreader was decent he just didn't have It for Metallica. After all everything that was written on the black album and on and justice for all was Co written by cliff burton. After that they had a few decent singles but nothing made compared to death magnetic and hardwired
Ryan Cox my thoughts were that her military self was trying to overtake her civilian self, and her civilian self was letting her military self know "it's okay, you're a part of me that I can't let go of "
No one does. I know no vet who comes back the same. Need more attention and support, straight up. And a service member in the USMC, USN, USAF, or USArmy, or USCG- they are soldier, airman, marine, and seaman. Not warriors. Warriors are a one man, un-tempered fighter. Whereas a Soldier, Seaman, Airman, or Marine is a part of a team. And-- well, that's a scarier group. Honor, Courage, Commitment.
There is no "warriors" sent to fight US wars of imperialism. Most of them come home and know these wars are unjust and they were shafted by the US government!
This is just my take on it, but I think the song can also apply to people who are unable to handle the stresses of daily life, either thru their unresolved\unrequited feelings and\or the stress borne out of the need to find closure in certain matters in a world that won't allow them to do so. In this case, the soldier theme would be the antithesis of their everyday battle to stay human in a world where human feelings are less and less factored into the daily grind. In either case, Metallica brings a serious legitimacy to the daily struggle to keep afloat.
James really brings these songs to life. I don't really enjoy the music as much as in disc 2 but man he really gets me hooked in when he's killing it on the vocals.
Dear James and crew - My father passed away on Thursday. He was a Vietnam veteran with profound PTSD. It was hard growing up with him. This song really hits me right now. Thanks for writing this and thinking of our soldiers who had to try and live after war.
The first minute of the song just before of that riff you mentioned, is fucking pure gold, soooo Metallica, so right into the chest... then it is followed by the riff at the 1:07 and it gets better and better. Probably top5 riffs on the record.

What I do love about Metallica is that they constantly break the rules of pop-songwriting. People's attention-span is often so short they're like "don't bore us, get to the chorus". I like that Metallica is still doin their own thing, always mixing at least 3 songs in one resulting in an endless riff-soup. Most of the time you feel like you've already listened to 2 or 3 songs before the first lyric comes in (many teachers will tell ya that's a major songwriting-sin if YOU do it). But it's their style, it's what they do. And they've been doing that since 1980-something. I know for sure Metallica is the band that inspired me to start writing my own songs in the first place, or motivated me to start playing guitar at all. And I think that's the case for many young rock-oriented musicians, and it will be for quite a few generations even after they're no longer around.
Rabin Miguel What are you talking about? I love Metallica but there are a ton of other bands that make the "riff soup" much much heavier and sound even greater with more variety. Mastodon and TOOL come to mind. A sin you say? Did those people never heard of prog metal?
Towern I was talking about the use of riff-soups in non-prog music. There is some kind of invisible line between prog and 'normal' music. If you cross it, you're allowed to go fully crazy like Opeth, Tool or Dream Theater. But if you do weird shit while remaining a normal rock/metal sound, it's gonna enter that 'pop music, but with heavy guitars' side of people's brain. Now Metallica and some other famous bands are allowed to do it, but if a small songwriter does it people are often way quicker to criticise. Often not even realising it has to do with their attention span rather than the quality of the song. That obviously shouldn't stop anyone from doing what they love. All I'm saying is, I appreciate that Metallica is still doing that despite their status as pop icons. They're a metalband, but they're so famous they get treated as if they were popstars. I like that it hasn't affected their music. Imagine if the album had sounded like That's The Spirit by Bring Me The Horizon hahahahaha
Osama Bin Lovin hahaha, now that you mention it, i was actually thinking of doing an acoustic cover of Dream No More, but no haha i didn't mean to spam or advertise for anything.. just showin some appreciation for a band
I am a disabled veteran who struggles with PTSD from my time in Bosnia and Kosovo. This song shows the struggle many of us have daily, great video and song \M/ \M/.

Once again Metallica has proven themselves to be the "thinking man's metal band." Bravo!

I think it's pretty good, not exactly a highlight of the bands career but definitely quality stuff. I'd put it at my 6th or 5th place for sure (which is saying a lot since there's only 2 of their 10 albums I'm not entirely stoked for)
I will never die mate!!! Not while there are still people enjoying and appreciating this kind of music, this album was a very very nice surprise for me, I didn't think they had it in them, but this is actually very good, extremely good, probably the best stuff from the Black album.

That beginning drum beat to start off the song sounds so clean, you can even hear the accents he places on the hi-hat. Simple stuff but adds so much to the song. Great drumming on this song and album

joezygamingYT agreed. This song isn't bad, but the other songs being released I haven't enjoyed as much as I should have. Death Magnetic seems too under appreciated. That whole album kicked ass.
Neil Stryker Its like nobody listened to Death Magnetic. I like this album more but Death Magnetic was full of thrash. That Was Just Your Life brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it. Ill never forget it
Lénine de Carvalho ahahah no, Dave Mustaine is aging like a turd. James is aging like fine wine. Both have their strenghts, Mustaine being a better lead guitarist but James being better overall musician. In terms of riffs, James is better
Lol... James is a better musician ...lol. he writes better riffs but Mustaine has a much more nuanced and technical understanding of music, hence the more technical nature of Megadeth in general. Not saying either one is superior overall but you gotta give credit where it's due.
One of my favorites from Hardwired to Self-Destruct, the video is different than I expected, but then you have to expect the unexpected from Metallica. That's one reason it's my favorite band.
can we all appreciate that metallica is so big and so set in stone that they have their own recording label and, in turn have full creativity over their songs now? (I don't know how true this is I'm guessing)
What's great about this album is the diversity. Every song I check everyone is saying that song is their absolute favorite. You have to respect these guys for still producing music at this high of caliber even after 35 years.
This is a great song and great video from a great album. Why is it so hard for people to get away from Master of Puppets? Would you rather every album be an exact replica? I've been a fan since 1983, and I never hesitated to buy any album. St. Anger was my least favorite, but at least they tried something different. They're the biggest metal band on the planet. And there's a reason for it. I don't see many artists making music this good into their mid-50s.
Terrence Leonard um... Testament, overkill, exodus, etc? They're in their 50s and are still making kickass music. This metallica album is fairly decent tho
If I had a problem with a Metallica album it was the one with Lou Reed LuLu the music they did was solid on that album but the songs weren't there for me otherwise all their albums have been great their not afraid to adapt their sound cause who wants to play the same style all these years so they experiment with different combinations it's all rock,i had alot of their albums on vinyl
I may not have served on the frontline of a combat operation, but I have eight deployments under my belt. This video still strikes home with me in how I feel empty in day to day work life compared to what I was a part of overseas. I miss it every single day
BATTIS94 You are absolutely right. I am actually pissed off because of it! I always play Metallica at full blast in my earphones but this song is at a lower volume.
Man, between their first music video to the current era, Metallica have been masters of hammering home the messages about PTSD and how much like puppets soldiers feel like.
So fucking INTENSE and SPOT on about what kind of hell people in uniform...of any kind go through with the PTSD that rocks their soul. This video NAILED it! Hats off and a SALUTE to Metallica for bringing current struggles with those in uniform...keeping it out front. HOOOOAH!
I didn't pay super close to the lyrical concept until literally just today. It depicts PTSD and the struggle veterans deal with daily. I will forever have the utmost respect for veterans, and if you are one, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service.

Have a cousin studying psychology and was doing a piece on what could be done to help our mentally wounded warriors ask me what I thought could be done to help. Best answer I could give was just to try to understand. Understand that there may not be a cure for some, that the person they are now is just "who they are now". For some as depicted here, it's never ending
JUST TO TELL THIS FROM MY GUTS: I've been hearing so many metallica fans talking shit about lars ulrich, and i really need to restore a bit of justice here in this humble set of words. It's so easy to start making jokes and underline his drum skills that beyond being a pointless effort, it's almost a corwardly thing to do and say. But, face the crudeness of facts: He is metallica main founding member and the brain of the band. So, realize that if you really like the band and the music, everytime you hear their music you're swallowing not knowing lars' artistic creation. If james is the one who writes and displays a bunch of guitar riffs on a set with very honest lyrics on it, the rest is up with that danish drumer and some producer in the studio. And it's been this way since 1981 when they first jammed "hit the lights" in macgovney's garage. There's one exception: St Anger album, where james, lars, kirk and producer Bob Rock, (all of them) filled each ones fair portion of composition contributions. The outcome was a record that is conceptually coherent, deeply honest about personal experiences with addictions, but the music, overall, is the worst metallica album, it really doesn't sound like metallica, and that's not the fault of the drum snare as people used to say. It's about the way music creation flows, freely. Lars' is the guy who always kept the final word. If you don't believe, then watch the australian interviews of "madly in anger with the world tour", and you'll get the point. So, what are you doing about that? Maybe stop that stupid shit and respect someone who fought for his dreams and accomplished the mission in an extraordinary way! Success has always been a great voicecall for those who fall and remain too afraid to rise again... Blessings! PS: GOD BLESS METALLICA. I love this new record, new territory for the band, once again. That's the reason these guys are the best rock band that is!!
I absolutely LOVE this song, that damn riff is so good! Don't understand why people are saying they dislike it!? One of my favourites from the new record :)
Great song, great album. This song and video makes you think about some of our soldiers who re enter back into normal society after entering the combat zone. Conditioned to enter but not re conditioned when exiting and scarred permanently. I have a brother inlaw and another friend who are now battling from it.... Good message to get out there Metallica...great band.
you really feel a hell bruh like the song, and the fucking gov just say ok you doing well, thx for your service, back home, but you still bleeding, you still dreaming, you still feeling bad, nobody can help you
Opened my eyes to what it's like with my brother inlaw. Absolutely horrible what you guys have endured and what goes on within yourself afterwards.... it so common and yep governments need to address it.
This is my favorite off this album to. Everyone raves about spit out the bone, it's a good song but a song doesn't have to be at the speed or light to be good.
There is no Confusion.
This album is going to be fucking awesome.

I think it's pretty good, not exactly a highlight of the bands career but definitely quality stuff. I'd put it at my 6th or 5th place for sure (which is saying a lot since there's only 2 of their 10 albums I'm not entirely stoked for)
that riff at 4:35 with the second guitar louder and chunkier is brilliant my favourite part of the song
Metallica's new album shows you that rock isn't dead
I will never die mate!!! Not while there are still people enjoying and appreciating this kind of music, this album was a very very nice surprise for me, I didn't think they had it in them, but this is actually very good, extremely good, probably the best stuff from the Black album.
Pffft it's pretty much regular metal by now instead of thrash. The song that sounds most thrashy is probably Spit out the Bone.
Joey Vendetta
This band died 18 years ago.
Chris Tamblyn
Metallica never dies.
>rock
Metallica is metal, m8.
probably the best riff of this album! headbanging till you fall down!!
James voice is on another level on this album, another dimension really
The greatest rock group EVER! Nobody beats Metallica! Nobody! Grew up off their music! 🤟🏿⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡🎸
"What is that sound? .. it's Heavy metal \m/"
a mix of every metal genre they ever played. makes for some true metallica
alexcreeds Yeah \m/
"And it's the real reason you should bang your heads, not for that guy"
Hell Yeah!!
Dylan Howarde far stretch but is that from brütal legend?!
-------------Confusion Lyrics-------------
Wake to face the day
Grab this life and walk away
War is never done
Rub the patch and battle on
Make it go away
Please make it go away
Confusion
All sanity is now beyond me
Delusion
All sanity is but a memory
My life…
The war that never ends
Leave the battlefield
Yet its horrors never heal
Coming home from war
Pieces don't fit anymore
Make it go away
Please make it go away
Confusion
All sanity is now beyond me
Delusion
All sanity is but a memory
My life…
The war that never ends
Father please come home
Shell shocked all I've known
Father please come home
Label him a deadwood soldier now
Cast away and left to roam
Rapid is the road to sacrifice
Just takes longer to come home
Confusion
All sanity is now beyond me
Delusion
Crossfire ricochets inside me
Trapped in a memory forever
My life…
The war that never ends
Metallica - the kings of metal!!!
"Hardwired ... To Self-Destruct" is such an underrated album imo!
Every FUCKING song of this album is amazing, I'm great Metallica fan but I didn't expect this🤘🏻
the only song I didnt really like was Dream No More, every other song I did enjoy listening too though
Rayman dream no more is fucking awesome. Am I savage Is trash
The only song i didn't like from the album is manunkind.
no
@@boxingeddy2568 me too is the best album they ever release even it older age of the band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Psychadelic, heavy and Metallica like! I LOVE IT!
I have new song to learn!!! Perfect!
Love the Am I evil style marching drums! Long live Metallica!
That beginning drum beat to start off the song sounds so clean, you can even hear the accents he places on the hi-hat. Simple stuff but adds so much to the song. Great drumming on this song and album
These videos marathon is insane! No band has ever done something like this! I LOVE METALLICA!!
the video looks like the day that never comes
SiMihawk clearly u didn't see the ending
SiMihawk and the intro sounds like Am I Evil?
the only different is that this video is a shit hole just like other new videos
aces high putin vodka
aces high L
Correct me if there are any mistakes :D

too lazy to type the whole lyrics lol
24 likes and no comments? let me fix that
Really awesome the beat the lyrics everything
dat super plain and boring Lars beat
dickcheese663 yeah same
Batikan Eyiboglu double basses, drum fills, variations... Billions of stuff. Not just snare tho.
Olm güzel şarkı kanımca beğenmeyen beğenmez yapcak bişey yok
+Batikan Eyiboglu lol y so sensitive just a small criticism and you call him a hater
am i evil + cyanide + black album
yeah well there is also some am i evil vibe in the intro
everything is a mix of something, if you look at things like this you'll see thats nothing is truly original.
beginning is AM I evil for sure
3:00 goddamn that little solo is so fucking good
My God. Metallica made an actual Metallica song. Holy shit. It's been 25 years.
Neil Stryker shit bad Metallica fans say...wait you can't even be a fan lol
Neil Stryker death magnetic was good u know
joezygamingYT agreed. This song isn't bad, but the other songs being released I haven't enjoyed as much as I should have. Death Magnetic seems too under appreciated. That whole album kicked ass.
Neil Stryker little late there buddie, they benn releasing since last year.
Neil Stryker Its like nobody listened to Death Magnetic. I like this album more but Death Magnetic was full of thrash. That Was Just Your Life brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it. Ill never forget it
Holy fuck... I've been digging this album over all... but this is possibly my favorite of all. Dem RIFFS!
got riffs? lol..yup its awesome
Jason Murray Hetfield the Riff Master \m/
Dave Mustaine the Riff Master \m/ King of Riffs!!!
"Confusion, All Sanity Is Now Beyond Me. Delusion, All Sanity Is But A Memory." My Favorite Part. Anyone Else?
trapped in memory
now my life never ends
NegativeOne 666
my life the war never ends
My life, the war that never ends*
Well yeah, it's the chorus. It should be. :-P
The main riff is sick!!
Pure James Hetfield
@@martinlucas3486 facts, it kinda reminds of another Metallica song, i just dont know which one
@@thomasparker4434 It gives me a Am I Evil vibe.
@@fedora997 definitely am I evil part 2
@@thomasparker4434 intro reminds me of their cover of Am I Evil.
Main riff reminds me of Eye of the Beholder!
* Waiting for Spit Out The Bone. *
oh yeaaaah what a fucking awesome song
me too...
that video should be fast as hell..
+++ Best song from album
Actually the last one is Lords of Summer...
ME TOO!!!!!!
best song on the album, the lauder you listen to it the better it gets.
Lauder is better! 👍
Bonardi 1989 i love laud music
Laud music all the way
Robert чорнаKбґиняopczak @
as a Lauder and a metallica fan myself, I would have to agree
OMG! 2 New music videos in two hours!?!?!?!? :D
DJVIDEOS ALL THE SONGS ARE GETTING MUSIC VIDS BROH!!
ohhhhh thats cool! #Hype
DJVIDEOS They're uploading them every couple hours today.
Their music got leaked, probably why they start uploading them themselves. Digging it tho!!
they were right about the Napster thing
One of my favorites from Hardwired to Self-Destruct, the video is different than I expected, but then you have to expect the unexpected from Metallica. That's one reason it's my favorite band.
can we all appreciate that metallica is so big and so set in stone that they have their own recording label and, in turn have full creativity over their songs now? (I don't know how true this is I'm guessing)
Great foresight in ensuring the rights to their music would revert back to them. Whoever manages them is very wise.
alexstone108 you think they have a manager? They own blackened record xD
alexcreeds they do have a management company, qprime. cliff burnstein manages Blackened with Lars. They've been their management forever.
alexstone108 still, they can do what ever they want
alexcreeds Of course but if you don't think they get and look for guidance you're silly
What's great about this album is the diversity. Every song I check everyone is saying that song is their absolute favorite. You have to respect these guys for still producing music at this high of caliber even after 35 years.
Damn! Another good one. Welcome back "old" Metallica! 👍🏻
fuck no. wannabe old metallica..but pretty good nonetheless
The guitar tone on this album is outstanding
aaahhhh this one AAAAHHHHH THERE ALL MY FAVORITE
Jordan Wilson this album feels good don't it?!?!? I'm in heaven they are finally back!!!!
Rich T. They sure are!
I don't see many artists making music this good into their mid-50s.
because there shit cunts
Terrence Leonard um... Testament, overkill, exodus, etc? They're in their 50s and are still making kickass music. This metallica album is fairly decent tho
David Catanus decent is an understatement my brotha!
In my oppinion st anger was a good album.
Epic song, epic album....Definitely Metallica's best overall album since the Black album.
Gary Struckman I thought Death Magnetic was good to but this ones better.
I may not have served on the frontline of a combat operation, but I have eight deployments under my belt. This video still strikes home with me in how I feel empty in day to day work life compared to what I was a part of overseas. I miss it every single day
I really like this song. I see a lot of people say they don't like this song, but this is one of my favorites on the album.
Has the most views of all the songs, apart from the first 3.
james flames i love this song too
Whole album is kinda crap
Fryderyk Chopin k
One of the better songs on the album for sure.
Is it just me or the audio in this video is a little bit lower than in the rest? I always get to this song and have to turn up the volume.
BATTIS94 you right,same here
same dude...
You're right, man. Same here.
BATTIS94 You are absolutely right. I am actually pissed off because of it! I always play Metallica at full blast in my earphones but this song is at a lower volume.
Regardless, you should do that to every song.
Man, between their first music video to the current era, Metallica have been masters of hammering home the messages about PTSD and how much like puppets soldiers feel like.
Every second I get a goose bump when I listen this song. No one could ever match the standards of Metallica.I Love Metallica !!!!
That fucking riff is killer as fuck. Also recommend listening to this in 1.25 speed.
The best Metallica song in decades
Lol
True. And the last on of em to this date.
I've listened to the album many times since it was released and this song has become my favorite. Kickass riffs and powerful lyrics.
So fucking INTENSE and SPOT on about what kind of hell people in uniform...of any kind go through with the PTSD that rocks their soul. This video NAILED it! Hats off and a SALUTE to Metallica for bringing current struggles with those in uniform...keeping it out front. HOOOOAH!
Agree
Barry G well i mean i woudnt say just people with ptsd i mean anyone whos gone to war comes back different one way or another
Top 5 Metallica songs / criminally underrated 👇

OMG
I didn't pay super close to the lyrical concept until literally just today. It depicts PTSD and the struggle veterans deal with daily. I will forever have the utmost respect for veterans, and if you are one, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service.
The best video from the new album so far.
1.Spit out the Bone
2.Moth into Flame

Julio Milek #P.A.E.M.E
4:35 is killer riff love playing this on guitar.
A masterpiece album, Metallica never lets down
This is a great song.... but you must play it with a high volume. 👍👍👍👍 only that way you can feel the greatness of metal
exactly!!
nice pic
Only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud...
Nuno Casanova you need to have a brain to be the brain of the band.
I love Jame's voice in this album. His second voices sound so powerfull!
you got this video spot on ! Many ex-forces just like myself struggle just like this and feel the same Rage :-( Thank you !
Paul Barron Thank you for your service, sir.
Thank you very much for protecting all of us and our country.
Protect you from what, war pigs? From yourselves?
Many Thanks to you all for your kind thoughts :-) atb to you all...
I'm an army vet myself, and I'm right there with you man. 63rd chem. co. 101st Airborne Division.
Metallica used Confusion! It was Super Effective!
I absolutely LOVE this song, that damn riff is so good! Don't understand why people are saying they dislike it!? One of my favourites from the new record :)
Metallica: Confusion
Me: Am I Evil with added notes
Someone’s listened to diamondhead lol
The first I played this I thought it was Am I evil hahaha
Sounds almost just like it.
Ptsd.... yep.
you really feel a hell bruh like the song, and the fucking gov just say ok you doing well, thx for your service, back home, but you still bleeding, you still dreaming, you still feeling bad, nobody can help you
Opened my eyes to what it's like with my brother inlaw. Absolutely horrible what you guys have endured and what goes on within yourself afterwards.... it so common and yep governments need to address it.
so glad you guys aren't done... there is hope for metal once again!!
Beautiful. Elegant. Relentless.
2023 and Metallica still and will continue to be the best for me
this song describes...
MY LIFE THE WAR THAT NEVER ENDS!!!
My favourite from the new album
Spit out the bone is pretty good
Spit out the bone.. wow!
Lords of Summer is my favorite. This whole album kicks ass though 🤘🏻
This is my favorite off this album to. Everyone raves about spit out the bone, it's a good song but a song doesn't have to be at the speed or light to be good.
My favorites are Hardwired and Atlas, Rise
O Brasil está te aguardando METALLICA...Amamos voçês
