Beautiful shortcuts and menus! I use groups to simplify song building and make faster editing. Say I need to enter verse-verse-refrain-verse-refrain, when I entered the first verse I make it a group and from the library I can drag it to the piano roll at precise time places to get all the other verses, then disband and change lyrics, instead of inputting note by note again. Much faster! With refrains even better, I can leave lyrics! (but I disband again and choose a new take). If in the first verse I need to draw an automation to make a low note more breathy and a high note tamed on loudness, I will probably need to do this to all verses to start with, so after my editing of the first verse (even editing after making the group) I draw from the library and the other verses already have this automation.
I got Synth V recently and I have a lot to learn, but your channel has been extremely helpful. Subscribed!

Hi! :) I just purchased SynthV last week and I really love it. I really like your videos about it as well. They've helped me a lot to get started. I do have some information that might be helpful to you today however.. :) ...Tip1: 2:40 Beside from just deleting the saved groups you can drag and drop them into the piano roll. Tip2: 3:32 The nice thing with this feature is that when you highlight a group like this you can edit each individual note in the group. That's not possible without highlighting, since clicking on one note in a group (without highlighting) selects the whole group.

Another thing I just noticed: The settings for Vocal Mode and Parameters are stored separately for each group. (Even the state of them being automated or not is stored inside the group)
Thanks for the tips... I noticed that you can't enter lyrics into groups, so that makes sense. So the highlighting is "opening the group" not "go to group" - but, the piano roll should jump to the selected group when selected.

@@mixphantom0101I agree. The piano roll not jumping when highlighting a group is a strange(bad) behavior.
You can do the plus or minus. To make "somewhere over the rainbow," all you have to do is type it like this, "somewhere + over + the rainbow +". The plus sign separates the syllables. As shown in the exemple, you just have to place the pluses after the words. So, for the a word such as "indiscriminate," which is 5 syllables, it'd be typed out as "indiscriminate + + + +". The pluses are the syllables after the first syllable. The minus, of course, is to lengthen a syllable or singular word onto the next note.
I actually remembered I knew this but didn't want to re-record the video 😉 My usual workflow is to record myself singing the lyrics and then extracting MIDI from the audio... this is the easiest way to get natural timing but creates a whole bunch of problems that are best solved one word at a time. I can see using + and - when applying lyrics would become efficient if you know all the MIDI notes are joined.
In spite of a couple of issues, is this Plugin the best i have seen so far....! Thanks a lot for your work to show all these features, buddy! Cheers from germany :)
I just keep watching and re-watching all your Synth V vids-they are so helpful! Hey in the spirit of the “other stuff” category I just ran into something I’ve never seen mentioned anywhere. If you drag a midi track into Synth V with notes having more than one MIDI channel, it splits the notes into multiple tracks by channel. (Maybe everybody knew this but me, but it cost me 3 hours of frustration until I figured it out…) I can see how if you had choral stacks it could be useful.
One more wish list: When closing a project, if you didn’t “save” it asks if you want to discard changes. That’s all! It would be better to offer “save” as well. Otherwise you have to click cancel, go up to “save” and then close the project. Gianni❤
I agree... all of us who have used computers for years have anxiety when exiting without a proper "exit" sequence. I think Dreamtonics generally needs a little more "ergonomic help".
If you see this - I was able to get Ctrl-A to create anchor points on all parameters. Select the note, be sure both parameters EDIT and DISP are the same. Highlight the note, then tap the cursor on the parameter line while pressing Ctrl-A, I think you need to tap the cursor where you want it to start, but it does add the end dot.
Thanks for your experimentation! There are so many parameters that without audio examples, it's like walking into a Walmart blindfolded, and you need milk. I'm good with the system, but not the timing of the phonemes within a word, or what a lot of the piano roll/parameter icons do, Don't see it in the docs, but I just upgraded to Pro last night. LOVE what it can do, but like all sample libs, it's up to US to DO it.
@@mixphantom0101 as in move them off pitch. Say you want a note between d and e. You can hold ctrl shift, and move the note inbetween the keys. You can even do this to your whole project. Something like melodyne maybe?
Hi! This seems great. However, I just bought Synth V and don’t know the best place to learn the basics. Don’t worry if you can’t say. It seems there are not many clearly explained videos on it
The Dreamtonics official videos actually have everything you need to get started. Maybe once the official release for v1.11 is out a new "primer" video may be useful as the program has evolved a lot in a year!
@@mixphantom0101Thank you! I am looking forward to viewing all your content on your channel! I really appreciate your response! I know you are very busy. You are a good influence on me.

OK that makes sense! I knew there had to be more useful applications of groups - thanks for the tips!

I don’t know if you know this, but if you hold ctrl and shift you can offset notes.
offset how? lyrics or notes?

@@EmujiAtara Cool... might be handy for doubled/backing vocals. Good tip!
Is there a way to map MIDI controls for shortcuts and/or transport controls?
Try setting the bulk text of selected notes as “somewhere + over + rainbow +” so you don’t need to break words into phonetic syllables.

Does Synth V know which key you are in? Where is it selected?
Not yet... it seems like an easy addition to the feature set.
