@@TheFirstWhiteRanger I heard that same interview, it was absolutely appalling. He was repeatedly given the opportunity to condemn it and would not. In the end he said he was having trouble hearing the interviewer due to a bad line and ended the call.
Corbyn gives a voice to the silenced in these disputes. That’s what he does; it demonstrates the compassion of the man. He speaks for me, and millions of others on so many issues, especially the victims in Palestine and Israel. Sorry about that. I’m sorry also that equality (in all its forms) is simply going to be a little inconvenient and bad news for some - but it’s time for the world’s peace mongers to unite.
It makes you wonder why the BBC never was critical towards Menachim Begin, when he was prime-minister of Israel between 1977-1983, but much earlier ordered for the terrorist attack on the King David Hotel in Jeruzalem in 1946. The King David Hotel was the British headquarters at the time and 91 people, amongst whom 28 British, were killed. The BBC was silence about this. The BBC is also silent about the fact that Ramsey Clark, former minister of justice of the USA was also present. And that the tory Lord Sheikh was also present is not important for the BBC. The BBC should distinguish activism from journalism. Or at least try to do that better. This is so shamefull...
Why are you going off-topic? It's about Jeremy Corbyn who went to a conference where many others went. It is also about that the BBC doesn't treat all terrorists the same. Respond to that or go play somewhere else.
Geert van Schaik The point here is very simple : while Whore-being always supports the terrorists, Wilders is innthe constant struggle against the islamofashists, meanning the terrorists. That's why he has is threatened while Whore-being is oraised by them. BTW, never forget his encounters with the checoslovakian "diplomat" who was a spy if the chech KGB as a matter 9f fact. & his trip to the East Germany(!!!) which surely was condacted under the tight control of the notorious Stazy! BTW, Philby was informed to the MI5 after by the woman he flirted with just after bashing Israel, just like Whore-being usually did.Meanning, every commy-cunt-ze bashes & smears Israel
Try not to forget your medicine! Wilders is a Dutch parlementarian. He earns almost 7000,- euro each month there. He had a stabile position in parlement, but now he's losing seats to another extreme-right party. All in all the total amount of seats for extreme-right parties in the Netherlands remains about the same. Wilders party - the PVV - probably will remain existing but it will lose seats to the other party, because that now has become more popular. Wilders is getting nowhere with his ideas or with his party. A couple of years ago he was part of the government, and he couldn't deliver. At some point he sought for a coalition-conflict and than he pulled the plug. Since then he is never asked again to help forming a government and the other parties have also officially declared that they don't want to rule with Wilders. Wilders knows this, but he is in the parliament for the money, so he will keep up his idiotical stance on Moslims. And as long he is in parliament, he has a big income. I would want the Dutch government to stop to pay for his security, because it is he who makes people mad. Also for principle reasons that he by now should have his act together and should organise this himself. I must add to this that the Moslims in this country (NL) don't pay much attention to him anyways. His whole protection is useless and completely exploited to picture Wilders as a victim, and being a victim gains votes. So Wilders is not a hero. He does this for getting a good income. Also... Extreme-right parties as his PVV but probably also in other countries gain votes when Islamist attackn just prior to elections. We've seen this again and again and for opportunistic reasons it wouldn't be strange at all if extreme-right parties have contacts with islamists groups and actually tell them when and where to attack. I cannot prove this, but both Caucasian extreme-right and Islamist terrorists seem to win when there is an islamist attach somewhere in our cities. This is not cynical at all... Israel has helped many islamist terrorist in their hospitals. They also gave free way via Israel to the so-called white-helmets. We see very strange alliances... and I don't buy them. I think the extreme-right just orders terrorist attacks.
Can you imagine, in your comfortable western existence, a time when you would have to take up arms and lay down your life against an injustice? Few of you will ever have to face that question. At one point in British history Churchill made a blood curdling speech before the House, some of which were for capitulation with the Nazi's and he told the House that even if it meant laying in the blood of his fellow Englishmen in a resistance against the Nazi's he would do it. Now, try to imagine that Palestinians feel any less for their country. Try to imagine that the Irish feel any less for their country. If YOU as an English person were faced with an occupying power what would you do? My wife is Jewish. My friends are Jewish. Not one of them agrees withe the violence against the Palestinians. Everyone of my Jewish friends agrees that even against Hitler, pressure could have been brought to bare that would have precluded the need for violence. Once again, in the maligning of Jeremy Corbyn we are hearing those voices who wish to rush to violence. I am not very well educated. And yet I see the truth. A man, so obviously of peace, is being besmirched at the behest of the violent men.
I wouldn't torture and kill innocent athletes who had done nothing to anybody, that's not what freedom fighters do. Nor do they honour the perpetrators of these heinous acts of cowardice. Nice try though.
Neither would I. But you might want to make yourself aware of the actions of Zionist terrorists, in the public record, at the beginning of this conflict. It was an extremely brutal campaign. I don't play the 'moral equivalence game,' blood is on everyone's hands. But you cannot move forward from a one sided or biased position, Rich. Your 'nice try' attitude tells the world that you will not be a part of any solution.
My wife is Jewish. And there are millions of Jewish people around the world who are against the actions of the "Israeli state." Pretty much the entire world, except the UK and USA governments condemn Israeli State actions. But I think there is a really important point: There really does exist a Nazi, antisemitic movement in this world. It has to be crushed. But when claims are made against the likes of Corbyn, it is very much like crying wolf. It is a serious accusation and needs to be leveled at real antisemitic actors or the accusation looses its power. One would have to be particularly blind to find anything antisemitic about Corby. That is a nonsense and the world sees it for what it is. But, without knowing a thing about me, you level the accusation at me too. That says much more about you than it does about me. It will take 'the voice of reason' on both sides of this issue. I can't see you as being any part of a solution.
This is dirty dark reporting, the lowest its been in years, JC has nothing to explain, less than nothing, it's showing how desperate the establishment has gone, my advice to anyone is switch off and stop paying your licence fee now. I am more interested in finding out why TM lost 114 child abuse files, perhaps Newsnight can to a programme on that?
Host: what was he thinking when he laid the wreaths of members who were apparently responsible for black September Chris: those people weren't even buried there they were buried in Libya Host: this is distraction and irrelevant All you need to know about mainstream news.
this is very silly - tories are convinced that the beeb are a liberal marxist conspiracy while you are equally sure that the bbc are "all bloody Tories".. fact is BBC journalist are all doing their best to simply report the facts and not take sides - sometimes faced with the dilemma of how clearly and forthrightly to point out the failings of any particular politician or political party .. there is a problem that arises around the issue of all mainstream political parties/governments stockpiling and supporting the stockpiling of WMD - in so far as BBC naively seems to assume that to be impartial is not to forthrightly challenge a policy that would appear to be the consensus - it feels obliged not to step out of line - despite that consensus being murderous and insane..
"HE laid flower as the grave of international terrorists and HAMMAS, Hezbollah, and IRA are his mates. he is disgusting" every year leaders of all mainstream political parties in this country lay a wreath on a monument to among others - those terrorists who fire bombed Dresden - in a clear measure of their willingness to repeat that crime.. by contrast JC was laying a wreath as a measure of his condemnation of all murder, war and terrorism..
michael moose no. You confuse dialogue with endorsement. He didn't lay flowers at any terrorist's grave. The Queen now meets with ex-IRA members. Try critical thinking
The BBC should be ashamed of itself. We know how this works The editor allocates in advance 13 minutes for an interview. The interviewee gives honest, accurate answers but because there are still 10 minutes left Evan Davies has to prolong the interview by pretending that he has avoided the question or twisting matters. When the interviewee points out that Davies is doing this Davies still gets back to his questions that imply his question has still not been answered. Why? Because the programme needs content to fill the 3 minutes still remaining. If you are not really listening intently (and few do at 10.50 just before bedtime) you might come away with the impression that Corbyn allies are spinning and not being straight. This is what Fox News does. We expect better from the BBC.
This entire segment is absolutely disappointing. Jeremy Corbyn doesn't deserve this smear campaign. To think I fund this nonsense with my hard earned money. Smh.
He's aligned with terrorist groups. You can't have boundaryless acceptance of violent extremists. He's supposed to be our leader of the opposition, so why doesn't he care about us, and our western values?
Well "He is unelectable" does not work anymore. They tried a few things but "anti semitism" seems to have the most impact so far. So they stick with that scheme.
You know what's relevant. The fact that Israel only has a terrorist false flag history since its creation in 1948. Operation Susannah aka the Levon Affair,1954. Israeli attack of the USS liberty in 1967 etc. Why did Israel plant bombs inside Egyptian, American, and British-owned civilian targets: cinemas, libraries and American educational centers in Cairo in 1954? BECAUSE THEY ARE TERRORISTS you dumb shit.
רומן צם is the US state department a terrorist also according to Israel? because the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty which killed 34 Americans and injured 174 is documented on the state department's website. why did Israel attack and kill those Americans on the USS Liberty?
That was a complete train wreck. It seems that the simple truth is that yes, Corbyn was invited and was present at the event for noble reasons, but that he laid a wreath on the graves of people who functioned both in a governing capacity for Palestine and as part of a group who plotted terrorist attacks. Corbyn should just come out and say that as part of the event, he was lead to lay a wreath on the graves of people whose full history he was unaware of, or accept that he made a mistake in laying the wreath where he did and that his only intention was to honour those who died in the 1985 attack. Obviously this stuff is being dug up to cause Corbyn trouble, the Daily Mail, Murdoch press and the like, probably have folders of stuff like this, which when presented with the right framing, leads to scandal. There's no doubt in my mind that it's a coordinated attack to destabilise him, so they can come to the next leader and tell them to play ball, else suffer the same endless smears and attacks as Corbyn. Corbyn spent most of his political life as a back bench MP, protesting and campaigning. That's a different life to that of somebody who's groomed for high office. Yes he's rubbed shoulders with some unsavoury people, yes he's shown political naevety in some of the events he's attended and words he's spoken, but if you look at his broader record, it's one of campaigning tirelessly for peace and fighting against racism and discrimination. If you're in the trenches of this stuff you're going to get some mud on you. He needs to get better at addressing these things and shutting them down quicker and he needs to show some humility where he's made mistakes. The attempts to smear him as a hate monger who supports violence is a gross misrepresentation of the man and his history though, and he would do well to talk more openly about the Daily Mail and their history, the next time they go on the attack.
Agreed, but... If you look at the pattern of these 'misunderstandings' a clear picture of the man reveals itself. Unless you subscribe to the view that he has been extremely unlucky and accident prone? His single minded hatred of Israel as a symbol of Western imperialism and American capitalism has, I believe, edged its way into boarder-line anti-semitism. He has an obvious blind spot that finds him 'accidentally' plodding through the sewer time after time. Enough already!
It's hard to disagree with much of that. I don't think anybody truly believes that he has a genuine hatred of anyone because of their racial or religious identity, but indeed, his alignment with the Palestinian cause has lead him to some noble and necessary places but also to some dark and dangerous ones. I've said for a long time, he needs to address the broader point around this, and concede that in the past his campaigning has lead him to share platforms with the wrong people and that his political history has an inherent bias against Israel, which has caused him to be less responsive than he should have been, towards the sensitivities of Jewish people. People will accept that, it takes quite some courage to publicly admit your own flaws, and then he gets to shut this down, otherwise the hits are going to keep coming and coming to the point that the party will be perpetually paralysed and can do nothing else but put out the Daily Mail's fires. Then the easiest way to fix the problem will be to simply remove Corbyn and that - particularly after the strong election result - will make the previous coup look like a Vicar's tea party.
Couldn't agree more David! I'm a fan of JC because he is usually so straight and to the point. When he ends up doing the classic politician thing of avoiding the question it frustrates me because I hold him to a higher standard.
Corbyn did NOT lay down a wreath at the grave of (suspected) terrorists ! The details: Western politicians (incl. a Tory and a LibDem) joined a conference in 2014 to promote unity within the Palestinians so they can negotiate with Israel. The government of Tunisia was also engaged in the meeting. As is often the case during such visits there are ceremonies of commemoration or visiting of places of historic importance. One such side event was to lay down wreath(s) in the _Palestinian graveyard in Tunis_ (yes, they have their own grave yard). That was not an event that was planned ahead, I assume it was a show of goodwill and relation building by Corbyn to go along. Who was remembered ? The Israeli airforce around 1985 had attacked Tunisia and bombed a site where they suspected PLO in exile (the exile government !) - they ALSO killed civilians. btw: Not even the killed PLO members / leaders were accused of having aided in the Munich hostage event. That act of war against another nation was condemned by governments worldwide - including by Thatcher and Reagan. The Israels killed 45 people (among them were civilians, not only important people within the PLO).
The youth of Britain do not read the Mail or the Express or the Sun. The influence these papers once wielded for the political right is on the wane. BUT. That is no reason for the BBC to take on the mantle. As a 60 something Brit I am so proud of British youth for not swallowing this nonsense. I greatly underestimated Corbyn and did not vote for him in 2017. I will next time.
Democracy Person I didn't vote for Labour partly for tactical reasons. But the youth of the UK did get it right. Next time there is a general election he will get my vote because the kids got it right. He clearly can lead the party back to power. Even Blair concedes that.
MORE CORBYN BASHING PLEASE CORPORATE MEDIA! The electorate aren't as stupid as you think, the more apparent your bias is, the more you seek to divert the electorate away from Labour's policies, the more the majority of the electorate will realise that what you claim will be bad for the electorate will actually be good for the electorate. The next election will not be a Trumpesque, leadership popularity contest, political policies will be key and the electorate have learnt from their previous mistakes. The majority will no longer vote in the best interest of a corporate elite against their own interests, regardless of any economic scare stories the corporate media will be undoubtedly communicate to the electorate as they have previously.
Erm no. A long standing Palestine sympathiser shouldnt be in politics, never mind pm. He has given 3 different versions of this story. He also joined in prayers to allah, for the the people buried there, including the terrorists. Yes Chris, jezzers record speaks for itself.... and it shows over the years he has been to a plethora of palestini sympathetic gatherings. Chris.... I thank God you are not my mp. Many leaders condemn the attack, but who in their right mind then goes and lays a wreath, prays to allah, on a grave that includes known terrorists...?oh wait...jezzer. Nice one....sound judgement. Trust you with running a country.... wouldn't trust you running a lemonade stand on a hot summers day.
What a joke the BBC has become, if this was the tories this wouldn't make a 10 second segment on the BBC, yet it will be stretched and dragged out as long as possible by the media.. and by the way, referencing Netanyahu as someone who 'condemns' this is completely ridiculous. Pot kettle black, only he has done much much worse and will continue to do so.
If someone like me, who does not support corbyn, can see a hit job on corbyn obviously others can. Newsnight and channel 4 news failure to give balanced coverage of the anti semitism row and now this wreath laying , is disgusting. I expect serious journalism from the two main news shows, i watch, rather than one sided hit jobs. Where is the balance. Those making the accusations appear nowhere on this show
Evan Davis speaks of the Palestinian terrorism in Munich, Germany a horrific act I might add, while blithely ignoring the terrorism that the State of Israel has brought about against the Palestinian people.
James Page what Hamas rockets??? That's Israeli State propaganda used by the State of Israel to continue the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.
Not to mention James Page if Hamas had rockets, why oh why are the Palestinians using slings and rocks against heavily armed Israeli force? Don't you think the Palestinians might try and use said rockets against the tanks Israeli forces are using to crush the Palestinians?
It all seems rather obvious, for reasons that nobody appears to be pointing out. It has been made absolutely clear why here was there, and why he was laying a wreath - for those who had been massacred. Jeremy Corbyn doesn't read or speak Arabic, and would have relied on his hosts to show him where to lay the wreath. As the terrorists aren't buried in that country, there'd have been no reason for him to suspect any of the graves would have been for them. In that situation, anyone would trust the hosts, who had invited him to the conference and ceremony for peace, to direct him where to lay the wreath. If, for any reason, it didn't happen to be for those killed in the bombing, he wouldn't have know... one grave would look like any other, with Arabic inscriptions. The whole thing is totally blown out of all proportion, for political ends.
This anchor is annoying and dictated to repeat same thing all the time and laugh with himself. While interupting the guest in each sentence, because the answer is a big problem for him.
I've got a lot of time for JC but I would disagree with you on this one. JC was pictured doing something and Evan was asking for clarification. Holding a politician to account for his actions is just the BBC's job, not necessarily being "against" them. I just wish Chris Williamson had used the opportunity to clarify the situation and move on.
00; Teresa May's government sold Saudi Arabia the weapons that were used this week to kill 50 school children in Yemen, and are causing the single largest humanitarian crisis in the world, we rarely hear any criticism about this from the BBC. Hell we are barely told anything about that war at all, it's much easier to focus on Syria where we can call Russia the bad guys and can pretend we aren't responsible for enabling war crimes. Trump openly supports Israel despite the fact they have been killing hundreds of Palestinians just a few weeks ago. This support is to the extent where his advisors have been trying to pressurise/threaten Jordan into accepting several million Palestinian refugees as full citizens, and they moved the embassy to Jerusalem. We hear more condemnation about him fucking a porn star, or some fantasy about him colluding with the Russians. We are constantly told that Russia is a danger to our democracy in the lack of any tangible evidence, but when the Israeli embassy are caught on camera deliberately attempting to undermine Corbyn, and even attempting to get a tory MP (Alan Duncan) the sack by manufacturing a scandal, the government and the newspapers are incredibly relaxed about it all. It's easy to criticise Trump for his policies; they are calculated to enrich the richest, he has increased the deficit, pissed on policies that can help the poor and despite his pledge to reduce America's involvement in foreign wars is as aggressive as any of his predecessors, (particularly in promoting the interests of Israel). I have absolutely no interest in nonsense about who he has fucked, or his links to Russia; unless actual evidence about collusion were to emerge. The outrage about that is as manufactured as this crap about Corbyn, faux outrage on the basis of nothing. If the media (including the BBC) were competent they would focus more on what is important; i.e policy, people's actual suffering, actual evidence of attempts to undermine UK democracy and less on trivial crap such as who Trump boned, or whether Corbyn laid a wreath too close to the grave of a guy who possibly may have known a terrorist once. They are pursuing a news agenda set by headlines in the tabloids, chasing up on sensationalism and ignoring real sodding issues.
#newsnight The pound shop Sméagol that is #EvanDavis, really is no match for @DerbyChrisW. He should get back to what he knows best, occupying the ground floor of a disused warehouse, interviewing @DeborahMeaden's #DragonsDen rejects. #BBCBias
The question I have is this. Doesn't Jeremy Corbyn have issues at home to deal with rather than being obsessed with Palestine? Also, I don't believe JC's purposely anti-semitic, but he's pointed fingers at others claiming racism disingenuously, so he's made his bed and he can lie in it. As for campaigning for peace, Corbyn's record has always been one sided, and it ain't on the side of his so called home country.
It was in 2014, several British MPs attended the conference. Tunisia was attacked in 1985 by the Israeli airforce - it was condemned worldwide - also by Reagan and Thatcher. They bombed what they thought was the exiled PLO government. And killed 45 people including civilians. He was invited to join the ceremony remembering the victims of 1985 (NO TERRORISTS - and likely joined out of politeness for the host country. (You bet the Tunisians were upset in 1985 being bombed just like that). There is NO photo showing that Corbyn (or anyone else) at THAT time and occasion visited a grave of suspected terrorists. There is no photo with a stone or a name. Just Corbyn holding a wreath standing with a group of man. The Munich terrorists (Black September group) of 1972 are buried in LIBYA. In Tunis there is a _Palestinian graveyard._ In 1992 Mossad kiled men in Paris which they _claimed_ had connections to Black September and/or Munich. That connection let alone a connection to Munich was never proven. These men are (like many other regular Palestinians !) buried at the Tunisia !! graveyard. It is clear that corbyn was at that site where ALSO people are buried which Israel took the liberty to kill without trial and which Israel CLAIMS were terrorists or had connections to terrorists. They were Palestinians, that is sure, and I guess France was not eager to have them buried in France - So they were buried in the Palestinian graveyard in Tunis. The ceremony was for the 1985 victims of the Israeli attack, it was introduced as such and executed as such.
Xyz Same I don’t need a review of the details of this issue. I can read and I am up to date. In my opinion, Corbyn’s a hard left progressive ideologue, and appears incapable of a nuanced stance on any of the favoured topics at the heart of his politics. All of his team are the same, Seamus Milne, Andrew Fletcher, John McDonell, and his cohorts at the Stop the West oops! War Coalition. There’s Jeremy the activist who always takes the predictable sides, and Jeremy the politician who always wheels out the weasely trope ‘I’m against ALL violence’. The thing is, some violence seems to be worse than others to them. I never saw the Stop the War Coalition demonstrating outside of the Russian Embassy about their involvement in Syria, and I’ve never seen Corbyn demonstrate against violence perpetrated by Hamas.
Are people actually insinuating that Jeremy Corbyn is a man who believes in terror? He's a jam making pacifist. Whether or not you believe that his policies will help us is a different matter. But this stuff is ridiculous. Can we please get back to debating ideas for the future and stop this world of smear and nothing else.
Corbyn, firstly, saying he is not sure that he "took part" in wreath laying. Next day alleged picture with a very long Corbyn arm! All looks calculated for him to resign.
It's telling that the context involving the attack against Israel is explained whereas the attack committed by Israel is glossed over (e.g. no details of the airstrike are provided and no footage is presented).
I used to have alot of respect for Evan Davis. I used to have faith in the BBC. They have clearly abandoned their commitment to unbiased and fair coverage of issues.
Edward L. Sanders , it was precisely because the BBC appear to have abandoned objectivity and truth that I posted this comment. The journalist labours his point to where it appears that another agenda is afoot and one can only wonder about his motivations for pursuing this. Their job is to report and inquire whilst remaining unbiased, this isnt happening here. Your observation therefore is nonsensical.
They well have appeared to have abandoned objectivity to you but that doesn't mean that they have done so. They seem to be amazingly unbiased on all the topics I am expert in. In this matter many news outlets from the Guardian, New Statesman etc. are making similar points concerning the evasiveness of Corbyn.
He can, it's a free country. However one must be accountable for their actions and not act with deception around it all. Admit it or deny it and I'd have more respect for him as he had the balls to just fucking say it.
Here’s an advert on why you need to stop paying the terminally ill bbc. Once they followed a charter to educate now its instruction of a very dangerous nature in my humble opinion.
Thu truth is that many in Labour party are afraid that the party has been hijacked by the ultra-left fringe led by a mediocre back bencher Jeremy Corbyn. They exploit revelation of his obvious anti-Semitism to save their party and the UK in general if by any tragic incidence Labour win. The leftist Marxist clown admired Chavez. He would like to be one in the UK.
I find it very difficult to watch or listen to BBC news these days and Evan Davies is a particularly dishonest presenter, I won't call him a journalist
What a pathetic interview by Evan. If you scripted this interview then it's time you retired or found a real job. Let's face it, this is all about distracting the public from the civil war within the Conservative Party and Boris Johnson and his ilk, whose personal ambitions are pursued irrespective of the damage they cause to this country. There is a little girl in this country growing up without her mother who resides in an Iranian jail because of boris....yes I deliberately omit a capital....because he is a disgrace. Never mind referendums, it's time for a General Election and a new Government ....with a close look at electoral spending limits of course.
Why do they hate Corbyn ?? The JEWs hate Corbyn simply because he'ill tax the bejesus out of them .. all those big earners in TV land , Land Lords, money Lenders etc will all get hammered . He'll also regulate Loan companies, pension funds, Money Market, Mortgages etc to reduce fraud/theft. So whether you like Corbyn or Not . it's those money Grabbing JEWs that will get rid of him ! He also won't undue BREXIT and as most rich JEWs own multiple properties all over Europe then the possibility of these asset being seized does worry then severely ! The Rich elite hate him for the same reason as the JEWs. Working class hate him mainly because of Television propaganda poisoning ignorant minds . Personally I think he'd drag the country back into the 1970s with rocketing inflation and social unrest but out of all Corbyn's flaws his biggest problem is on immigrants , he's the Type of Guy that would do a Angela Merkel and allow unlimited immigrants into the country whenever there's a crisis (which is often!).
The hypocrisy of Israel again visible for the work to see and learn from. Actually Rome via Titus originally named Palestine. There was no Israel - (apart from in the 200 yrs when Sal named it from 1050bc-930 bc, at which time it was destroyed). There was no Israel left in this time only judea and Palestine (as named by Titus). Is ra el was created in 1050bc and lasted 200 yrs. Sal named it is ra el after the goddess Isis or Venus; ra after amen ra; and El the sun in Hebrew Is ra el was destroyed in 930 bc. Recreated again by the private Rothschild banking cartel in ww2. Why ? For oded yinons the greater Israel plan ... ? That’s what his publications suggest and all these “wars” are predicted. To the handful of bbc believers left this is not journalism people
well i do think he laid it on the wrong graves, and i think he since found that out before the story broke, but once it was too late. i do not think he did it deliberately, however, admitting it would be political suicide simply because the establishment hate him so much because of how he would improve the lot of the common people, which would necessarily mean less for the rich and powerful. they would use it to tear him to pieces, it would become a 'fact' through their reinterpretation of the events that he supports terrorists. they have been trying this angle right from day one. when one tries to make peace, to act as the middle man to bring 2 opposing sides together to resolve an issue, you have to speak to BOTH parties. This necessarily means he has brushed up against some not so very nice people. THAT is the only thing anyone has got on him ever that they have been able to twist, specifically, that during his 'quest' for peace he has brushed up against n been in company with some unsavory characters. And of course the americans with their high influence of zionist jew supporters want any media to be biased to their side re isreal/palestine related issues, however loosely linked
Urgh. Chris Williamson's response here really frustrates me. Instead of clearing up the issue by saying "yes he was laying a wreath", "no he was not laying a wreath" or "I don't know" he resorts to the tactics of avoiding the questions and thereby turning this into a big issue. Why can't he just give a straight answer thereby allowing the debate to move onto the freedom of Palestine??
A Corbyn supporter pretending to give him a rough ride. He had no choice but ask the question again and again - because that was his job. It was no laughing matter that his hero point blank refused to answer the crucial yes/no question. The same thing happened in the 1980s when Brian Waldren, a right wing Thatcher supporter regularly pretended to give her a rough ride. They loved each other.
I like to lay a wreath and no leader of a country that commits genocide is going to stop me handling my wreath. I like to remember the dead and not just forget life and death and get wall building and land grabbing
That graveyard is the burial site for ALL Palestinians in Tunis (in that area). So yes the moment you enter it you will come accross graves of terrorists or suspected terrorists as well.
Oh! I see , so , the BBC runs a story pretending to have a go at comrade Corbyn , and who do they get as a studio guest ? A Corbyn supporter ..very balanced
I saw a picture of the mural - no it wasn't. it showed the old robber barons Rockefeller, Morgan, also Rothchild (which is Jewish - the others are not).
I think Jeremy Corbyn is fiscally inept and has no idea how to run a country properly, but the constant attacking of him over Jewish issues seems harsh to say the least .The one thing I can not pull him up on is his sincerity to peace and fighting for the rights of individuals.an idiot he may be but a sincere one.
I wasn't laying the wreath for terrorists, I was laying the wreath for innocent people. At a terrorist ceremony. Also I did not support the IRA. I carried the IRA coffin as party of my exercise routine.
As an American I used to turn to the BBC to get a balanced view unlike the propaganda on our networks. Now the BBC is even worse than our corporate “news”. Tell me Britons, who controls your network now and how did they get there?
Imagine if those Israeli athlete were your friends and family. The Olympics are about peaceful competition. Instead they were murdered, and some mutilated by Black September, an Arab, and Palestinian group. We don't know how nasty this was.
I remember listening to an interview where corbyn condemned the British army but refused to condemn the IRA . That’s enough for me .
He condemned all violence and bombing from both sides, you clearly don't.
Don't give compassion where no compassion exists.
Geert van Schaik long live Geert Wilders, living under heavy bodyguarding, while u symphatize the terrorists threating him!
Why are you going off-topic? It's about Jeremy Corbyn who went to a conference where many others went. It is also about that the BBC doesn't treat all terrorists the same. Respond to that or go play somewhere else.
You're still off-topic. My name is Geert and it has been that longer than Wilders has the same name. But that is also beside the point here...
Charlie McGrain i've never seen an antisemite who did not clame he had some jewish friends. U learnt taghyia perfectly
רומן צם so you are claiming this person is such an anti-Semite that he took a Jewish wife for cover? Think before you type ffs.
Corbyn being condemned by Netanyahu is akin to being condemned for a minor traffic offence by Ted Bundy!!
Host: what was he thinking when he laid the wreaths of members who were apparently responsible for black September
Chris: those people weren't even buried there they were buried in Libya
Host: this is distraction and irrelevant
All you need to know about mainstream news.
Actually I think the people who planned that attack were at this cemetery.
God this is desperate. The state of the BBC right now. They're all bloody Tories. The fact this was the first item makes their agenda transparent
this is very silly - tories are convinced that the beeb are a liberal marxist conspiracy while you are equally sure that the bbc are "all bloody Tories"..
fact is BBC journalist are all doing their best to simply report the facts and not take sides - sometimes faced with the dilemma of how clearly and forthrightly to point out the failings of any particular politician or political party ..
there is a problem that arises around the issue of all mainstream political parties/governments stockpiling and supporting the stockpiling of WMD - in so far as BBC naively seems to assume that to be impartial is not to forthrightly challenge a policy that would appear to be the consensus - it feels obliged not to step out of line - despite that consensus being murderous and insane..
"the Czech spy stuff was handled so professionally"
BBC ripped apart tory who slurred JC on that subject..
"HE laid flower as the grave of international terrorists and HAMMAS, Hezbollah, and IRA are his mates. he is disgusting"
every year leaders of all mainstream political parties in this country lay a wreath on a monument to among others - those terrorists who fire bombed Dresden - in a clear measure of their willingness to repeat that crime..
by contrast JC was laying a wreath as a measure of his condemnation of all murder, war and terrorism..
frank zappa's pussy Nick Robinson, Andrew Neil, Sarah Sands, Andrew Marr, John Humphreys, The Dimblebys - Tories
michael moose no.
Smh.
The guy can only be linked to so many terrorist organisations before people start to think maybe I don't wanna think bumbling idiot leading my country
That is the plan. It's going to fail.
The BBC are really losing the respect of the country - and its us that keep them in work
thumbs down for BBC. Thumbs up for your guest
0 0 ignorance is bliss my friend but nowadays dangerous
0 0 Ter.rorism was nurtured by the west to dismantle the ex Soviet Union. The brainchild of Brerzinski.
00 ignorant racist remark...you are now irrelevant within debate. Ignorance disqualifies you
רומן צם is the US state department a terrorist also according to Israel? because the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty which killed 34 Americans and injured 174 is documented on the state department's website. why did Israel attack and kill those Americans on the USS Liberty?
I concur.
I will next time.
hauskalainen but the youth of Britain swallowed the myth of Comrade Corbyn in last year's general election .
Democracy Person I didn't vote for Labour partly for tactical reasons. But the youth of the UK did get it right. Next time there is a general election he will get my vote because the kids got it right. He clearly can lead the party back to power. Even Blair concedes that.
The youth are not voting for corbyn trust me, only jobless middle class brats and terrorists will vote for this commie
Geth Creator I must not feed trolls I must not feed the trolls I must not feed the trolls I must not feed the trolls
Has Great Britain and the United States regardless of political parties been to closely linked to Israel and their genocide of the Palestine people???
Absolutely well done Chris Williamson.
This is fucking pathetic and nothing short of a disgrace really. Pathetic.
#WeAreCorbyn
Wish more politicians were like JC. #corbynforpm
Sly, lying, capricious - I think there enough politicians like Corbyn out there... #CorbynOut
We stand with Jeremy
#JC4PM
jason filio, making Abbott HS should tell you all you need to know...!
jason filio (
BBC Newsline is a front for British Intelligence.
Precisely paul!
This isn't even close to journalism... how can you confuse 1985 with this ? Newsnight is not for watching.
Evan: "are you denying that he laid the wreath by the four graves...?" Err, its a cemetery?
the bbc has turned into fox news lmao
If someone like me, who does not support corbyn, can see a hit job on corbyn obviously others can. Newsnight and channel 4 news failure to give balanced coverage of the anti semitism row and now this wreath laying , is disgusting. I expect serious journalism from the two main news shows, i watch, rather than one sided hit jobs. Where is the balance. Those making the accusations appear nowhere on this show
Spartacus Forlife bbc are propaganda pushing scum but tbf they do attack both sides when it suits their own agenda
This is disgraceful. Corbyn is totally in the right, this B.B.C. interviewer is appalling.
Evan Davis speaks of the Palestinian terrorism in Munich, Germany a horrific act I might add, while blithely ignoring the terrorism that the State of Israel has brought about against the Palestinian people.
James Page do you remember Israelis sniper's shooting unarmed Palestinian civilians?
James Page what Hamas rockets??? That's Israeli State propaganda used by the State of Israel to continue the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.
Not to mention James Page if Hamas had rockets, why oh why are the Palestinians using slings and rocks against heavily armed Israeli force? Don't you think the Palestinians might try and use said rockets against the tanks Israeli forces are using to crush the Palestinians?
Seriously? What exactly do you think Hamas is up to? So no rockets then. Wow.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Palestinian_rocket_attacks_on_Israel,_2018
Please read a newspaper
Evan Davis is a disgrace and should resign. He's not even half as good as Eddie Mair
Pro Jewish THE DAILY MAIL keeps on telling lies about Corbyn . . . .
The mail is not pro jewish its pro israel. Like hitler!
Why is the bbc against jeremy corbyn?? He's doing more good than harm
Arikara Stone cause he is a twat ?
Jeremy Corbyn for next British Prime minister
This didn't age well.
#newsnight The pound shop Sméagol that is #EvanDavis, really is no match for @DerbyChrisW.
He should get back to what he knows best, occupying the ground floor of a disused warehouse, interviewing @DeborahMeaden's #DragonsDen rejects. #BBCBias
Look how he starts stuttering when pushed for the truth. Disgrace!
The interviewer keeps talking over the MP preventing him from answering with a complete sentence. Is he a Tory tool, or what?
The interviewer should be sacked, he is trying to mislead the public.
I'm FAR from a Corbynista, but this smear campaign against him is sickening.
It's a BBC report . So it totally un biased like normal
Where was "peace and reconciliation" Jeremy Corbyn at the Omagh bombing commemoration today?
I don't see people up in arms about
May's dealings with Victor Orban.Then again,he is to the right,so that's ok.....
What's that sound in the background at around 1:45?
To me it sounds like a barrel being scraped
A disgraceful, false smear by the Mail and supported by this pathetic interviewer which is clearly disproved by Chris Williamson.
Corbyn, firstly, saying he is not sure that he "took part" in wreath laying. Next day alleged picture with a very long Corbyn arm! All looks calculated for him to resign.
The issue is the terrorists who did Munich, not the ceremony itself, so you are wrong.
That ceremony took place 3 days after Mr Corbyn was there according to the Tunisian authorities. Oops. 😂
It's telling that the context involving the attack against Israel is explained whereas the attack committed by Israel is glossed over (e.g. no details of the airstrike are provided and no footage is presented).
King David hotel ?
Evan should be ashamed that he is involved in this blatant character assassination. Bias Bullying Channel
I used to have alot of respect for Evan Davis. I used to have faith in the BBC. They have clearly abandoned their commitment to unbiased and fair coverage of issues.
Or maybe you have stopped caring for objectivity and truth. They are doing their job.
Stand your ground, Corbyn!!
shame on u bbc.
Hell! he can lay a wreath for whoever he damn well please. What bullies!!!!!
He can, it's a free country. However one must be accountable for their actions and not act with deception around it all. Admit it or deny it and I'd have more respect for him as he had the balls to just fucking say it.
How dare you question our Dear Leader Evan
Here’s an advert on why you need to stop paying the terminally ill bbc. Once they followed a charter to educate now its instruction of a very dangerous nature in my humble opinion.
Correction : All the hostages were killed by Black September.
He would like to be one in the UK.
also didnt the queen lay a wreath at the memorial statue of fallen IRA members??
"I was present when Harry Potter killed Voldemort, but I don't think I was actually involved in it!"
Netanyahu kills. Corbyn does not.
#BBCSwitchoff lies and dam lies.....
I find it very difficult to watch or listen to BBC news these days and Evan Davies is a particularly dishonest presenter, I won't call him a journalist
this BBC news report is brought to you by the israeli goverment
Sorry in a Christian country a man can lay his wreath
What a pathetic interview by Evan. If you scripted this interview then it's time you retired or found a real job.
Let's face it, this is all about distracting the public from the civil war within the Conservative Party and Boris Johnson and his ilk, whose personal ambitions are pursued irrespective of the damage they cause to this country. There is a little girl in this country growing up without her mother who resides in an Iranian jail because of boris....yes I deliberately omit a capital....because he is a disgrace.
Never mind referendums, it's time for a General Election and a new Government ....with a close look at electoral spending limits of course.
Look at his skin blood red and leaking in sweat. He's out in the open and can't escape his passion for the enemies of Jews and Israel
I take it israel never do anything wrong then ...come on
Why do they hate Corbyn ??
LOL, Corbyn himself said that Hamas and Hezbollah are his friends
Poor showing Newsnight.
Sal named it is ra el after the goddess Isis or Venus; ra after amen ra; and El the sun in Hebrew
Is ra el was destroyed in 930 bc.
Well, I’ve seen better discussions on the Jeremy Kyle show this was not a particularly well sided programme.
Corbyn rocks!
In 1969, the Prime minister of Israel, Golda Meir, declared that : THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 'PALESTINIAN PEOPLE'
"We try and clear up the confusion". Thanks BBC, that'll be a fucking first then.
They loved each other.
poor poor journalism!
You've hit rock bottom BBC
BBC (=state TV) hit job. Pathetic.
This is appalling journalism
I like to lay a wreath and no leader of a country that commits genocide is going to stop me handling my wreath. I like to remember the dead and not just forget life and death and get wall building and land grabbing
funny enough. pictures look like they were taken yesterday of Corbyn. He's aged fantastically.
That graveyard is the burial site for ALL Palestinians in Tunis (in that area). So yes the moment you enter it you will come accross graves of terrorists or suspected terrorists as well.
BBC have made themselves utterly ridiculous with this. Fox News with posh accents. Root and branch reform needed.
Oh! I see , so , the BBC runs a story pretending to have a go at comrade Corbyn , and who do they get as a studio guest ? A Corbyn supporter ..very balanced
'Jewish supremacism' are forbidden words.
It's a graveyard in a foreign country at a service lead by others and directed by others where to lay the wreaths on tomb stones in a foriegn lanague.
where time becomes a loop
the right wing media couldnt even get the correct country right..lol...ffs keep it coming..
Tha hasbara has broken out again in the comments section and on the has-bbc-ara.
Well done Chris. #JC4PM
Shut up anti semitist
Shame on you BBC!!!
#BBCSwitchOff 16/8/18
And he didn't notice the mural was strait out of the nazi handbook
I saw a picture of the mural - no it wasn't. it showed the old robber barons Rockefeller, Morgan, also Rothchild (which is Jewish - the others are not).
I think Jeremy Corbyn is fiscally inept and has no idea how to run a country properly, but the constant attacking of him over Jewish issues seems harsh to say the least .The one thing I can not pull him up on is his sincerity to peace and fighting for the rights of individuals.an idiot he may be but a sincere one.
Yeah, sure, austerity policies stemming from the collapse of a deregulated banking sector was the height of cleverness.
This whole thing reminds me of the "women stoning scene" in the life of Brian.
farcical
I wasn't laying the wreath for terrorists, I was laying the wreath for innocent people. At a terrorist ceremony.
Also I did not support the IRA. I carried the IRA coffin as party of my exercise routine.
Except it wasn't him carrying the IRA coffin . That has already been disproved. It was a member of the IRA not Corbyn .
He paid support to everyone who fought for a united Ireland.
He's IRA to the core.
As an American I used to turn to the BBC to get a balanced view unlike the propaganda on our networks. Now the BBC is even worse than our corporate “news”. Tell me Britons, who controls your network now and how did they get there?
Israel wants all the attention
Imagine if those Israeli athlete were your friends and family. The Olympics are about peaceful competition. Instead they were murdered, and some mutilated by Black September, an Arab, and Palestinian group. We don't know how nasty this was.
It's embarrassing to watch this man trying to defend the indefencible.
