- Have you ever heard Franco's 1967 Concert in Providence? If not then I may have to do something about that! For now, here are a few highlights of the evening. The sound quality is iffy and outdoorsy, but worth the effort. These are some of my all-time favorite interpretations of these songs. One of his less-publicized moments of very sensual and expressive singing. Some very beautiful and unusual touches. My favorite being the Core N'grato. The phrasing of that "grato" at 2:07 is so raw and unaffected. Nothing but real emotion in this concert.
Selections include:
Core 'ngrato
I' te vurria vasa'
L'ultima canzone
That audience were very privileged to have heard the greatest tenor ever Franco Corelli sing live.
The sound of heaven.
His vibrato is the wave of the heaven.
His one breath is the universal space.
Thank you.
Your profound art which was given by God.
Beautifully said..

He deserves to be worshipped. A voice of unique beauty, sensitivity and with the ability to communicate the strongest emotion and depth, be it romance or tragedy. He is forever our great Franco...
I'm not so sure to be honest, his tone sounds almost ugly in some points. His high notes however were insane i cant deny that
Grazie Maestro.
First time I have EVER seen the name Franco Corelli and the word 'ugly' in the same sentence. Unbelievable. Have you turned on the radio or listened to any of your albums in the last 25 years?
With a voice like that, he must have come from another planet
just heaven he had the voice of Micheal the arch angel looked lie him too
My father studied opera and I saw/heard all the hours he put into it. I don't think many people realize how hard it is to sound so magnificent! A bit of help from God, too! Thank you!
Slowhand 1949 lovely comment. I agree.
Cuccia122 He did: Heaven sent him!!!
A magnificent recital with Corelli in legendary form. If nothing of his work survived except this performance of Core n'grato he would still on that basis alone be considered one of the greatest tenors ever to have lived.
No other tenor can sing like him. Powerful spinto voice that’s out of this world. Simply the best.
Yes Leonora de la Guardie,it is like a drug,I first hear it in Rome in 1951/2 as a young man,it still affects me today,am now 88 Rene
Grande Maestro, grazie per tutto sempre vi saro grato.Riposa in pace........
Grande cuore, immensa voce!
A supreme technician. A magnificent voice. Focused, rich, thrilling.
The greatest tenor that walk the face of the earth!!! Maria McMahon DeMeo
Corelli is the greatest tenor that I have ever heard. His voice is so full of emotion and beauty. I will keep you in my heart forever.
fabuleux ! ...
UNICO 💎UNICO💎 IMMENSAMENTE IL PIÙ GRANDE DI TUTTI, PER SEMPRE. 🌬️🌹💫💫💫💫💫
merci franco
Oh my God, the beauty of that voice! I could listen to it forever and ever...
Yes, Isabel, he is divine and forever...
One of the Greatest Tenors who ever sung. A great artist indeed.
It’s not as if a pianist goes to a bad piano on a concert stage they can be the same piano but to some extent maybe a great extent some are luckier than others and Corelli was one of the luckiest blessed by God. Having said that he was a voice student all of his life like all great singers and musicians.
Corelli is the most outstanding tenor that I have ever heard!!!
These phenomenal performances of several quintessential Neapolitan songs are not only magnificently sung, they are simply drenched in a very personal and stylistically definitive emotionality.
Slow cadenza for an unique tenor in his best years !!!👏👏👏
Greatest prince of tenors.his voice is synonim for tenors....his large voice and sharp high c makes me crazy i am also a tenor....great franco i addore you
Fantastico.
Imo I think Corelli sounds INCREDIBLE. I'm sorry I only saw him once LIVE in Trovatore at the Met circa 1961. In was a great afternoon.
Spettacolare, fiati colossali ma ben giocati, splendore vocale emozionante...
fantastico, dolcissimo
Franco Corelli Rhode Island concert: 3 Neapolitan songs
Sublime
Corelli is an extraordinary singer. I so enjoy listening to him sing.
il migliore....BRAVO
what i would give to hear him live...
Adorable Franco! I listen to you every day and I'm not tired. What a voice! What a passion! how lucky were the people there! They could listen to this wonderful voice! "Nina.rammenta i baci che I'ho dato" It's me,Nina
My thoughts exactly :)
It made me upload 1 more song from the concert for you.
A Rare Franco Corelli A vuchella
Leopold Leopold thank you so much!

FANTASTICO !!! GRANDISSIMO FRANCO CORELLI !!!
Grazia, eleganza, bellezza e potenza un mix ineguagliato.
corelli and lanza respected each other both had amazing ranges ! both were the greatest inmy life time !
It does not get any better than this. PERIOD
AWESOME
We should have a live holagram of him singing Back in the met with everything restored
I wish!! How wonderful that would be!
My most favorite are Core 'ngrato and Passione.
Corelli, che campione!
Fantastic!!
The comments below are fully spot on. It’s a pity that during his prime it seems that Corelli was not appreciated as much as he is these days.
Even though he was the greatest tenor of his type during his best years he suffered constant scorn from many critics (John Steane excepted who needed a Corelli ˋfix´ quite often) for his often ˋindulgent´ vocalism. The reason he is justifiably revered these days is easy to explain. There are no voices around right now as exciting or sonorous as his type of instrument & people respond accordingly.
Studiava moltissimo.
Spectacular beyond belief!!!
- As always!
Pur și simplu "the best".
❤️❤️❤️
Great to hear this. What a voice. It is also good to get an idea of what his live performances were like and the ecstatic reaction from the audience. Am I right in thinking that Corelli came from Ancona on the eastern side of Italy ?
Yes
❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏💝💝💝💐💐💐💐💐
👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🌷🌷🌷🌷💐💐💐💐
MERAVIGLIOSO MARIO TOPAO
Tutti i giorni ascolto la tua voce divina.Nessuno ti potrà mai eguagliare
Please the rest of it.
I think Franco looks a lot like a-bit-more-mature David, by Michelangelo.
He was in beautiful voice that evening, are there any more recordings of this extraordinary concert? Thank you so much!
Yes, and the whole concert was up on UA-cam once. It contains, hands down, the finest "O souverain", the finest "Ite vurria vasa" and the finest "A Vuchella" of Corelli's entire career. It is a tragedy that that "O souverain" is no longer available on UA-cam, a landmark in tenor history. I have always hoped that, one day, that "O souverain" would come back here. But it never has. All of the other "souverain" readings from Corelli are just a pale shadow compared to that one exquisite reading from a summer 55 years ago. Will we never hear it again? Will you never hear it? How sad. How terribly sad. -- Geoffrey Riggs
If you can find a better rendition of this core send it to me and I'll give you a grand I'm no fool my money's safe
david evans I also love Giuseppe DeStefano on Core N’ Grato.
The Young Giuseppe Di Stefano is unsurpassed in this but because I also love Corelli you keep your money my friend.
Giuseppe di stefano in México, 1952. Too bad the recording is not good as I think it was taken from radio.
Best tenor ever, love to compare him only with great Lanza!
Mario Lanza was great, I like him very much as well, but he was NOTHING compared to Corelli. Lanza's vocal production had a few holes in it unfortunately. The quality of the voice, from top to bottom of the register, was not as solidified as Corelli's.
giampierone010 E tu quante volte l'hai sentito cantare senza microfono? Ricercalo! La voce di Lanza era assai potente.
nape jack I agree with you 100%. Corelli and Lanza were the two greatest tenors of the 20th century... and so far of the 21st. It is doubtful that they will ever be surpassed, but that's also what they used to say about Caruso. Unfortunately, the old acoustical recordings of Caruso do not give a true recreation of his voice.
Dale Erwin Thanks Dale, don't forget also that Lanza died so young!
And I agree with you about Caruso 100%.
I wonder how many women came to look at him as well as hear him?
A LOT! I remember that, although I was just discovering boys myself.haha
99% of the whole state.
CSODÁS HANG REMEK KÜLSŐ......
L'ultima canzone is not a Neapolitan song. It is obviously in Italian.
Meravigliosa comunque cantata da lui!
This is magnificent good enough to dethrone CARUSO
I sat with modest intent
Where in Rhode Island was this performed? I'm originally from Rhode Island.
Leopold!
was it Guadagno conducting?
Atmosphere ruined by applause over the music - even at the beginning of the song. That's not true appreciation.
Corelli was a great artist with secure technique, and a numerous variety of embellishments. He is very impressive indeed. However , the basic voice itself is not beautiful to my ears.Licia Albanesa when asked about Lanza's voice , said even his speaking voice was beautiful. God or nature provides the Beauty, this is not a knock on Corelli ' gifts.Perhaps he was equal to Del Monaco and Lanza on talent..But if we're honest ,the quality of MDM & LANZA VOICE IS OBVIOUS to me,more listenable.
Ian Kaye
thing is they respected each other i would not say the basic voice wasn't beautiful sir by no means the thing is he wasn't in it for the money he was a more serious artist then lanza cant remember a complete work of lanza's full length opera to really see if he had the stamina corelli on the other hand hundreds of recordings of full opera's of franco
Do not classify Corelli's voice so and so! It is wonderful which you will not hear in a near future! He deceased and it is a great loss! Look at the voice color which is difficult to find.
Listen to the pathos in his voice. He had the ability to connect with his listeners
Have your ears cleaned
Corelli had one of the most beautiful voices. He had the rare quality of having a extremely beautiful voice and an extremely powerful voice as well. These qualities often don't go together. He had that beautiful, rich and warm baritone type of sound, with a very smooth sound. Of course people have different taste, but many people think that Corelli had a really beautiful voice.
