This is the precise reason I no longer use a magic circle when making granny squares. I invest enough time making the granny squares without having to go back and repair them. 11:22
I don’t even bother to use the magic circle anymore. It’s ultimately pointless (for me). I just make a circle by making four chains and then slip stitch. It has always served me well.
I have made 3 Afghans using the magic circle and each time I washed the blankets the magic circle broke. One Afghan had several snowflakes and each one broke. I will never use a magic circle again. Do it the old fashioned way and if the hole is too big you can easily make it tighter by using a need and thread. I am embarrassed to think I made blankets for people as gifts and they all fell a part in the wash.
Thanks, Anja, for this very useful tip!!!🌹🧶🌹🦋😘🙋🏻♀️🇦🇷🇦🇷

When I was practicing crocheting my gypsy granny squares 12:39 , I wondered if the yarn might ever break. Now I know what to do if it does! Thank you.
I hope you won’t have to need this tip though, thanks for watching, Anja x
Im happy to see this video. I have a friend with a blankie with MANY broken circles. She showed it to me one morning and all I said was Oh Boy!
Oh I hope this will help you to help her repair it, or even better share the tutorial with her! Thanks for watching, Anja x

Oh wow does this happen all the time with the magic circle with granny squares? 😢 this was a great video!
Not all the time, but if it does you now know what to do….thank you for watching, Anja x
This is very interesting. And super helpful. But why do these magic circles break so often/easily?
It can be a number of things, like the type of yarn if it’s silky, not sewing in the end….thanks for watching, Anja x
