The variety of enemies is what kept me playing this. Every encounter felt different. It's also really fucking hard and frustrating, but fun. I'm at level 21 with 16 hours of gameplay and I still haven't finished anything major other than being a seeker.

Be careful with the dynamic HUD setting, don't set that before you learn the game. You know, if you hide something you never used and don't know what it is then you might miss it forever. E.g. I saw beginner players not using and crafting or buying any potions because they hid it right in the beginning, when they didn't even know about them.
Hunter reflexes is the most OP skill and people don't talk about it enough. You could jump around indefinitely and take all the time in the world aiming and hitting crit points
One thing that I discovered a while ago is if you are low on metalshards or overall want more shards, be sure to complete all of the bandit camps. All of the camps have a kind of treasure room with multiple boxes with stuff you can sell plus a lot of shards. Bandit camps may seem like annoying but they are fairly easy if you are patient. My protip is to take down every guy on the edges of the camp area all around and then go towards the middle one bandit at the time.
I'd direct players straight towards the Tearblaster in the Hunters lodge questline. The other weapons you can get in the lodge are just slightly better versions of regular weapons that require a lot of effort to get but the tearblaster is available much sooner and is much more unique in function. It is so much fun to use as a close range stripping canon that can even stop charging machines dead.
When an machine is attacking, dodge no matter what, it seems to me that you can get invincibility frames, but it sometimes depend where you’re dodging towards
Solid Tips, good video. I've found stealth to be the way I play against the machines best. Upgrading the critical hit of spear and setting tripcasters for the big ones is the only way I've been able to defeat anything difficult.
Spam jump when you put skill points in to slow down time when jumping. You can literally take on 3 stalkers it’s hilarious and borderline game breaking mechanic
#1 tip in my opinion is always make sure you have enough ammo or crafting materials especially when entering a Cauldron. Nothing is worse than making it to the boss fight and having to switch to melee attacks partway through because you ran out of ammo.
Yeah, inventory up being a typical thing, and while I'm one of the tryhard crowd, I put a serious third on this one. Lol. Maybe even just to mention Wire. Like, you're gonna need a lot. Lol. I like to think you won't ever need 4 stacks of wood though.
Went into the final mission with no blaze and metal shards, definitely get loot before doing something dangerous, I manage to beat it, but that was becuase everything was shadow weapons
Great video and good level of detail for anyone who is just picking this game up now. It became free for PlayStation plus members so a lot of these tips are relevant the PS4 players too. I guess having completing all the main missions my tips would be these: Resource satchel upgrade, light all campfires as this will help in fast travelling to side quests and other missions later on or gaining the collectibles and the last thing I would say is don’t rush the game, enjoy the story line and explore the open world. I hope in Horizon Forbidden West they address the clunky climbing and melee combat mechanics. Apart from that this game is amazing with a good story line. I hope Forbidden West can continue to build upon this.

And no slowing the playback speed doesn't do it. How to equip etc.. needs to be explained to us "older" gamers since games no longer have a users manual....

THIS GAME IS AWESOME. can't believe that I had a ps4 for 2 years and never came across this game. I'm playing it on pc now with a controller, mouse and keyboard ruins the experience in my opinion. locket 60 fps with 2060 at highest settings on 1440p, patch 1.10 and it works flawless
Using the mouse is great for aiming but using the keyboard for movement is awkward when in a fight as there are 7 buttons that control movement so I imagine using a controller is easier. I might try that with the next playthrough.
Razer Naga/Hex, Logitech G600, Corsair Scimitar, etc. get a moba or mmo mouse. Maybe the steam controller would be good (I have one but, haven't tried it yet.)
i played the game on the hardest difficulty, the items cost are insane compared to the easier ones, should i lower the difficulty just for buying weapons? i can take the grind tbh. im just askin for a fellow players opinion :)
@@lucagain. Yes, technically there are different difficulties but the easiest difficulty in Horizon Zero Dawn is like most other games hard or insane difficulty settings. I played (fought against, really) this game for months when it first came out but it eventually ended up being so difficult and frustrating that I had to throw in the towel. I'd completed everything in the available areas (except some broken quests) but venturing into any new areas meant instant one hit death. This game works against the player more than any other game I've ever played. I'm only telling you this because if you are someone, like me, who thinks about difficulty settings in a game, and I assume you do because you asked, then this game, as beautiful and intriguing as it may be, is just going to be a frustrating slog. One caveat, it has been a very long time since I've played this game, so it's possible that the designers realized that average gamers couldn't finish their game and changed the shittier parts of it with an update. I've checked back often to see if there have been any announcements related to making the game more playable, but I haven't seen any, so I assume they haven't. Of course, that doesn't mean they haven't, they just might not have announced it that way, or I could have missed it. This is also why I won't be playing any subsequent games in the series, which is too bad because it really is beautiful and incredibly inventive in its design, etc. Good luck.
@@JustinAllen You can change the difficulty at any time and set it back to where you were before. For some of the boss fights, it is just not worth redoing it over and over again until you manage to bring them down. Decrease difficulty before the fight and increase it afterward.
Increasing the FOV decreases your fps. So anyone who desires high fps or notices there fps isn't as high as it was, but their graphics settings is the same, lower the FOV and watch your fps go back up. Depending on your settings and GPU it can have a huge impact. I have a 6950xt and 5800x3D and with everything on ultra @1440p UW I average about 125 fps in the open world on 70 FOV, but on 100 FOV my FPS drops to about 100. I imagine that this FPS hit could be even more on lesser GPUs.

I am running on the latest patch 1.06, did they remove them for technical reasons? Edit: For people to see if they have the same question, you have to be loaded in to the game for these options to show up. No, don't just increase the FOV. FOV is there for a reason. You need an FOV that suits your viewing *distance* relative to your screen size. If you're playing on a PC, but with a TV 3 meters away, you need a very different FOV than if you're huddled up against a monitor.
