    Hear hear. However a normal Brompton like my 2002 T6 can do long trips too. Both in 2004 & 2006, I did trips around the whole coast of the UK. First one 3751 miles, second 5610 miles (going to all RNLI Stations). Also bear in mind I was towing a trailer that weighed in excess of 65kg. I don't travel light. I don't understand this silly fad of no mudguards. Essential!

    I LOVE this one. I love the tan walled tires, matched to the grips and seat. I LOVE the capacity of that bag too; plus all the doodads it comes with and a rear bag. All that adds up. Definitely on my radar for spring 2020, the complete package, hmmm mud guards or not?

    It is a great looking bike and fun concept. But all my bike ears keot hearing was “reliant on Brompton parts”. Lol. I had no idea spoke length and tire sizes were also proprietary. Perhaps I am wrong. That scares me a bit from a cost and availability perspective. But I do love their ride!

    This makes me smile, as I remember Al asking me about my Alpacka Rafts and if it was really worth spending so much on one!
    There weren't that many around in the UK at that time and I'd just got mine and was fascinated with Bike Rafting, but without a Surly or other fat tyre, full sized frame bikes.
    I was delighted to see Al's original Bike Rafting video adventure with his Brompton as the Brompton bicycle and the Alpacka Raft Packraft are the perfect multi modal travelling companions, each absolutely perfect for their role!
    With a Brompton bicycle and a Packraft you can cover virtually every part of the planet!
    For longer trips, the excellent Circe Atlas Folding Bicycle Trailer is the perfect companion device as it folds down into its tiny carry bag, just like the Brompton and the Packraft!
    I did recommend the Alpacka Raft Packraft to Al as it's a beautiful design and superbly constructed out of the toughest materials I've ever come acros commercially.
    With a Brompton, an Alpacka Raft and a Circe Atlas trailer, you're limited by imagination only!

    Not convinced. I have a folding touring bike that I've put together. One of the Chinese frames (Fnhon, see also Dahon), which means 22 inch wheels (not the 16 of the Brompton) and a full, standard Shimano 20 speed drive chain, and also I fit normal wider flat handlebars than the Brompton plus full rear pannier set.. Won't fold up quite as small as a Brompton but it fits in a bag. Very comfy for long distances.

    • @belverticale
      @belverticale 5 років тому +2

      @@miffachan123 okay look for Fnhon Blast or Tornado frames. They're designed for the 20-inch wheel standard and are well made aluminium frames but they also fit 22-inch wheels. My frame is also a disc brake version which is cool. You need larger chain rings to compensate for smaller wheels with folding bikes but with 22-inch wheels I found a standard 52 - 36 crank set gives me all the gears I need for touring with an 11-36 ten speed cassette. Tiagra for the win! Rear rack is from Tern. Sticks out a bit at the back so your heels don't clip the panniers.

    I've been riding this bike for about a month ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.

    • @zulkefliismail6181
      @zulkefliismail6181 4 роки тому +1

      All Brompton bikes are actually same model. The only different is the color and overpriced. The normal Brompton is just good enough. Even if it's limited edition you won't go much faster as normal standard Brompton.

      @SimonFuto 5 років тому +5

      @@sabaffira Exactly. I heard about this bike and was excited, thinking it might be a little bit more 'off roady' but it's really just a regular Brompton, with a different paint scheme. If they could make one with wider tyres, that would make a big difference.

      My commute included a 2km gravel stretch - did it for 18months and it was fine on regular tyres. You just have to be careful. These bikes have small wheels and are not as good as regular sized bikes.....at anything, except folding. However, they are good fun and great for carrying on trains, cars and planes.

    Do you guys only do commercials for private companies any more? We can get the company’s viewpoint from their website - I thought you guys were supposed to be the viewer’s ‘honest broker’’ on products, places and persons. Comes across as shameless sucking-up to companies just because they agreed to be on-camera.

      I find it quite helpful and interesting that Road.cc go to a cycle show that I would not be able to attend and discover new offerings from manufacturers.Giving Brompton the opportunity to tell us about their new model seems very reasonable to me. It isn't a road.cc 'test' as such - or is it just me that feels this way? oh well.

    • @pootlingalong8928

      @@psfreegard Spot on. Can't see the point of Mr. Georgariou's whinge. I didn't see any "sucking up", just a polite interviewer allowing the Brompton guy to talk about his product. Most people interested in bikes would find this fairly interesting whether or not they want to go buy a Brompton. It's good to see what's out there.

    I dont know why Brompton wont make a all titanium frame, stem and seat post. Would be light and industractable

    • @felixcat9318
      @felixcat9318 4 роки тому

      You and me both!
      To say that there would be an eager market for this would be an understatement, even though it would doubtless be horrifically expensive!
      There are Chinese companies offering full titanium frames, stem, seat post, forks, rear triangle and handlebars, but the main frame and stem components are virtually an unknown quantity as far as build quality and longevity are concerned.
      Whilst an all titanium Brompton is the holy grail, it is essential to have absolute confidence in the titanium parts, and as far as I'm concerned it is not possible to have that in the current frames and stems at this time.
