I think Toby and the team should take it slow; Too many at once and 1: The wait will be too long 2: Lack of feedback between chapters.
i'd love them to be released in a "telltale" type way where we pay for 3-5 but get them a month or a few weeks after each other

Also, the community has a pretty shitty side, so i certainly wouldn't trust them to give feedback.
Feedback? The man has the entire story in his head even before undertale was released, what are you on about. I don't want the communitys or any suggestions to get into the final game, atleast story wise.
I would be fine with it if only Chapter 3 releases this year. If too many release at once, we don't get to enjoy theorizing about the next chapter.
I agree wholeheartedly. I feel like the fandom is more fun when given time to cook lol. Plus then we would get more content consistently as well as Toby and the team being able to take a break between releasing chapters rather than trying to bust their butts getting the next thing done

Same bruh. Just chapter 1 and 2 feel like more than the entirety of Undertale.
I think that he wont do it because chapter 3 would have some heavy lore stuff that if given enough time for theories etc, would solve some mysteries in chapters 4,5
So he wants to release all 3 at once, to not give us enough time to over analyse them, but to play and experience it all at once
idk, but it's like if some lore answers will be told in chapter 4-5, then in chapter 3, there might be some hints pointing towards them, so if you get time to analyse them you can predict what will happen in future ones
same with 6-7, maybe at the end of chapter 5, there'll be some plot twist and you wont be able to guess the ending of the whole game with only 5 chapters, so he feels safe to release 3-5, but 6 and 7 will have to be released together too

@@kyyay2283 Is it possible he could be referring to the town they lived in during the events of Deltarune? I know its not confirmed in anyway that Deltarune could be a stealth prequel to Undertale but that's the first thing that came to mind.

I feel like a lot of casual fans will drop off, i might as well since I’m almost done with uni and will have more adult responsibilities by the time 3 4 5 release. I really hope i’m not too caught up in adult life to enjoy the next instalments.
Realistically I doubt we’ll see a release together before 2025 if chap 3 is not done, it just doesn’t seem likely
Idk if that'll mean anything to you, but when undertale was released, I had just about finished uni and had a part-time job. I'm 31 now, and I've been following both games for years. though I don't plan on starting a family, I'm not too busy to the point of having to completely ignore games. Deltarune is an offline game with a save feature. You can play it whenever you have the tiniest bit of free time. Spoilers would be tricky to avoid, but, as long as you don't actively pursue the content, as an adult with more "responsibilities," you should be fine. If you don't mind spoilers, watching a let's play is also an option, and, depending on your career, you can listen to them while you work. I remember counting on multiple streamers to keep me up in the office.
I'm an adult finally earning my GED while managing bills and a grocery budget. i completely missed Undertale when it came out in 2015 when i was in my early 20s, and i stayed under a rock for almost seven years. Ended up having a blast watching let's plays and joining the fandom after my 29th birthday in winter of 2022. There are other games and shows and other stuff in life to keep me preoccupied in the meantime, and I know Deltarune will be here once it's ready and when I'm ready.

Very happy that the newsletter basically deconfirmed the idea that chapter 4 would be focused on the light world, since we know it will be a more traditional chapter now.
So fun tidbit.....When the Undertale Kickstarter was happening and Papyrus and Sans were advertising it, they're both on a singular little circle of grass......it's probably a joke regarding that

I had a small theorist panic at the last question of the Papyrus interview, but then the longer I thought about it, decided it might just be a meta joke about the Kickstarter art.
(The "Sans and Pap are from Deltarune" theory is by no means debunked or anything, but if that's why Papyrus remembers green grass, why wouldn't he remember the sun? It complicates things at the very least.)

The last question of the Papyrus QnA where sans ended the question when they tried to ask what their lives were like before they moved to snowdin was really interesting.. also papyrus mentions there was green grass, and there isn't any green grass in the underground, so this means they likely came from the surface or deltarune world or something like that.
issue with the surface is that Papyrus wpuld have had to be incredibly ypung, given he has no idea about any surface related stuff, like the Sun
hopefully he keeps just releasing them one at a time i feel its better that way.

@@koopatroopa6882I doubt that with several chapters released at once the development time will be any shorter really. You will just get bigger chunks of the game, and if you could get the third chapter this year already, you would need to wait more instead because fourth and fifth chapters aren't finished yet. So I think it's better to keep releasing one chapter at a time, it would get us content once in awhile and live up the fandom

Okay, so if we assume the cannon they are talking about in that one question is the one in Snowdin, then it is roughly 60 pixels tall (I may have miscalculated). If we assume a short beanpole is about 6 feet, then that means each pixel is 0.1 feet, or 1.2 inches. Sans’s sprite is 30 pixels tall, making him 36 inches, or a comically small 3 feet tall.
Now we can officially call sans a beanpole

So, Ch3 took so long because it was different, with varios types of gameplays And less story, which means less cutscenes. Ch4 has some progress and Ch5 still looks like in early development. Everything points that the game with release in 2024
That was all very cool, I know we're probably not due for Deltarune Chapter 3 till next next year but still having these lil things between are always nice. Also man that was weird hearing "Good Life" on a non-FUNKE video

Papyrus thing is so fucking weird. First of all, the underground does have green grass (New Home and Ruins). Also, aren't the monsters supposed to be on the Surface during these newsletters? Makes it even more strange. But then sans cuts him off????? So weird... Also come to think of it, sans is like the only returning monster from Undertale that doesn't have a new outfit in Deltarune. Makes sense when you think about it cause they were either wearing the only thing they could wear because they're seperated from society, has another job in undertale, or has armor. Anyway just rambling so ill end it here

UT Sans & Papyrus are definitely from DT, especially considering the card that appears in Sans's workshop in UT where "don't forget" (a reoccuring idea in DT) is written only AFTER you talk to the clam girl who informs you about "Suzy" (and this was ADDED in a patch apparently so it's pretty obvious I think)

With papyrus's quote about seeing green grass..i think he might actually be referring to the inside of Asgore's castle. It had flowers sure, but also green grass. I think that could be a interesting explanation, since soo far we haven't really seen or heard of Papyrus in Deltarune yet, so i guess that's my assumption.
Actually, we have heard of him, seeing how Sans mentions him. (Barring some sort of twist involving a third brother.) And the game's Steam description claims that he's busy. It's clear that Toby must be hiding something important about him, but we don't quite know nothing about his role in Deltarune.

Why?
Yeah, I think the biggest thing pointing to that is that the team's resources aren't being spread anywhere near evenly across the three chapters, with Chapter 3 having been prioritized ever since these newsletter started being a thing. With even tasks like translation having already started before its content was completely finished, it sounds like the team is making a concentrated effort to wrap it up ahead of the rest. What reason would they have to do that if they're just going to sit on it for another year or so?

Toby is the only one doing the writing and he has wrist issues.
Also, do not assume that progress towards previous chapters does not help for later ones.
You can always reuse code and assets.
@@rompevuevitos222 But that's the thing. Toby didn't originally intend to have things done in order. He wrote in the 2022 update that the initial plan was to work on Chapters 3-5 simultaneously, but that nearly all work was invested in Chapters 3 and 4 in practice. Then the newsletters mostly write about progress in Chapter 3, with the second one stating it's currently their main focus. So it seems that the team's focus increasingly shifted towards the earlier parts, even though this wasn't originally the plan. It's possible this only happened because the team increasingly came to the conclusion that it's more efficient to roughly do things in order, but a change in the plans for the next release would also be a good explanation.
Though I think the biggest sign that the team is aiming for an early release of Chapter 3 is that its translation apparently already began before its content was entirely finished. It doesn't look like that happened with Chapter 2.

I just saw an interview to papyrus undertale and I didn't how much I needed it

OH MY GOD, in the interview for papyrus, in the last question someone asks “how was your life before snowdin?” and papyrus said “well, there was green grass,” then is cut off by sans saying that the shower is ready (reference to another question)
DOES THIS CONFIRM SANS AND PAPYRUS ARE FROM DELTARUNE? There is NO green grass anywhere in the underground, the only place where there would be green grass is in either the surface (they obviously arent from the surface) OR from deltarunes light world. THEY ARE FROM DELTARUNE BRROOOOOO
Well, theres some grass in Ruins and a pretty substancial amount in Waterfall. Also keep in mind the monsters are canonically on the surface for all the newsletters so it just makes this whole question even more weird. To me, the weirdest part is sans cutting it off.
@@Chckster papyrus specified that it was GREEN grass, the grass in waterfall is dark purpilish blue. also the ruins doesnt have green grass, it has green leaves/vines. if toby wanted us to think it was just grass, he wouldnt have specified that it was green
the question was their life before snowdin, before going to the surface and all that, so it wouldnt make sense why papyrus’s answer would be life currently for them

I don't think Papyrus would have been to any place in the underground besides Snowdin, Waterfall, and Hot Land. All places that... have no grass.
But then their supposed to be on the surface with a lot of green grass. If it truly were hometown why not specify it looks like the surface...

i highly doubt that, they barely started work on chapter 5 and 4 and aren't even done with chapter 3. toby might release chapter 3 early or he will wait until 2024/2025 to release all of them
@@kataraluver I mean, they have gotten plenty of work on chapter 4. It’s chapter 5 we have no idea about. We can’t even say as a 100% fact that they even worked on it yet
@@kataraluver Based on past updates there should be a solid chunk of 4 worked through, 3 and 4 could very possibly be done by the end of this year but as far as we know 5 could be barely started. So 2024 seems likely for the 3 to release unless they decide to release 3 or 3 and 4 before 5

@@Kris-fr4tpif you spare paps in genocide and you check the box of bones , he have a special dialogue mentioning that the special attack would have BLASTED you(and we know that attack isn't there since papyrus notice the attack is missing and thinks the dog stole it)
And ,at least, we know Toby thought about the concept since the page of the Undertale art book about Papyrus’ room shows something very particular about that box of bones
Inside of this box, that contains all of Papyrus’ attacks, there is an attack that ressembles a skull, but apparently isn’t actually a real skul (and as I said, that special attack is not in the final version of the game)
