Quick Clarification: The audio from the device is captured with traditional wired earbuds or wireless headphones. The audio in the video is to show what the user would hear.
Are you going to make all of this open source?
@@antdx316 What’s wrong with making a cool project by yourself?
@@kingklaus2115 agree, would love to see the code
Do you have a direct tutorial
The phone does the same but i can have calls too why not use it? And its less bulk and i can see movies or anime
That was great - to be sure Apple and Samsung are already working on this...but what you did was very cool: you MADE something that worked! More vids of use cases pls! 🙂
Thank you, and sure thing. Considering giving more use cases on shorts, may be more fitting than a whole video.
This was so inspirational. I have a 30 y/o nonverbal son. He's super playful and engaging, but can't speak. He has mostly grown out of his autism, and he's far more social and WANTS to communicate. We have been using a little PECS "Picture Exchange Communication System" (assistive vocabulary for "icons") system. I think I want to try something similar, but (1) more organic looking, (2) more "bling" (glowy LEDs, etc), etc. I will post when I get to a point we have something to show. It could "given him a voice. He loves cosplay. We took a trip down to Reynold's Advanced Materials in Kent, WA this weekend to grab some silicone molding supplies. Tonight we are "lifecasting" his right hand and forearm in Smooth-On's "Body Double SILK". :) Thank you for sharing your work!!!
This is awesome to hear. I sincerely hope you can build something useful for him, it sounds like you have a great definition of your goal!
i don't know how this doesn't have a million views. Wonderful innovation. You should team up with Replika, i would love to have it on my wrist.
Thank you! I'm thinking about making it a real crowdfunded startup if there's interest. What use case would you want something like this?
gorgeous !!! amazing project
The first TRUE pip boy!!
Kickass👍🏻
My boy staying strapped
I did not know about the existence of this beautiful channel, now I have the desire to see all your videos. Greetings from Mexico
that was fast 😅
Super cool project. Since the actual AI model is running on OpenAI's servers, I'm assuming it could probably be reimplemented on an ESP chip + maybe an arduino micro or similar ATMega chip to reduce total size of the watch since it wouldn't need a full raspberry pi. The only issue I can think of would be the challenge of implementing the TTS but the rest should theoretically be possible I would think?
Yeah I think I’d try this with an extra zero w I have lying around. Maybe the speed could be an issue though?
@@anthonyholmes1312 speed shouldn't be much of a requirement with something like this, since really not much computation is being done on the client side on the watch. However, that does get me thinking that I guess there would be speech-to-text being done on the client. Alternatively I guess you could have a middleman api running on a pi (or other server) hosted at home, then having that do the processing and just have the client system pass on the raw audio then await a response. If the audio is not super high quality that shouldn't add too much time to the round trip. If you're having it do the TTS remotely as well, I imagine you could then just stream the audio from it to the client.
@@mrskeletal both great thoughts. I've actually tested on a zero, and built another version with an ESP32, I just haven't gotten around to making the video yet. However, the bandwidth and wait times from both weaker chips to an external api were unacceptable, which is something to consider if you wanna do something similiar. so either jack up computation (like here), or jack up bandwidth of whatever chip (real-time responses demand it. if you can do with a delay, they're fine)
He keep that thang on him
badass, congratulations
Cool watch
Awesome. This is so cool. I love your channel...FYI... I'm no nerd... you make it look so easy but I could never do this...lol
Thank you! I think what's cool about this stuff is you can iterate a lot for very cheap; software is free and hardware is pennies on the component (if you ever wanted to learn).
Why am I only getting this 6 months later, this is so cool bruh
Interesting project. Some thoughts:
1. Instead of wrist mounted, put it on the back of a fingerless glove. It will not only not get in the way of your clothing, but will be even more accessible.
2. Instead of using a bulky custom cable, use flat CAT-5 or HDMI cables--with the appropriate receptacles--plus 'slap strap' mounts to hold it down. That will both make the whole thing neater and more modular.
Cheers!
Thanks for the suggestions! These are the first that don't talk about it being smaller (which is limited by the compute used), and they're cool thoughts.

You are most welcome. /bows
I want one! But after it no longer needs the Batman utility belt. Nice work! ✌️💚🤖
Fair enough
I don't know if you'll think this is cool but I got here from my Tom's hardware article my Google feed recommended.
Fricken awesome!!
I do think this is cool. I was getting more traffic from somewhere, couldn't figure out where, and this comment helped me find it so thanks!
I have been wanting to make something like this!! il have to make one with my own twist now
I look forward to seeing what you build
A build guide in the works? I need one of these for myself!
I'm starting to consider crowdfunding this into a real product. Exact features still tbd, gauging interest. What do you think of that idea?
Nice build! Entertaining video, too - looking forward to more.
Thank you, and good thing, there’s more to come
So..try doing ChatGPT companion. Make it solar charge with a maintenance schedule that tells you in the morning to make the services necessary to maintain its life. Make entries possible to maintenance reports that when finished generate a summary of all necessary steps to perform any repairs.
wearable chatGPT, cool project !
Finally found perfect build
I only learned about ChatGPT last week from an episode of South Park. It's suddenly all over the place in front of my eyes now.
how the hell did just by thinking of making something like this ,youtube algo suggested it.
nice work anyway
I misread the title as Worlds first ChatGPT AI Sandwich
Nice. Subscribed
Thank you!
Hi , nice project looks really cool amazing idea but an upgrade from the raspberry pi 4 to a pi module with a custom io for this so it's small and sleek.
Btw I'm ur 80th subscriber
I don't need another project.
I don't need another project.
I don't need another project.
Thats a nice Projekt, I think im also make that
Go for it!
That is realy neat! is it somthing you actualy use now that you have it
It sure is. It’s surprisingly robust and useful. In videos to come I’ll show what this thing can really do at scale
this is cooool🔥🔥🔥
Honestly this is all cool! This is super interesting as an implementation of GPT!
But where did you get that blue jacket?
Thanks, Amazon of all places actually
I would totally wear a AI powered gauntlet
I'm starting to consider crowdfunding this into a real product. Exact features still tbd, gauging interest. What do you think of that idea?
What a hunk
This is quite a cool little project!
Have you tested it on technical subject matter?
like a sort of engineering or scientific assistant that can provide summarized literature knowledge on demand?
like a personal Mr. Spock on your wrist.
It’s limited by what the api can already do. If openai can do it, this build can, so to answer your question on if it works on technical matter, yes.
Can I combine these with my nreal glasses and go full robo
AWESOME
That is so sick bro
I want to make one. Can you share 3d print files and BOM list
use esp8266 for display integration with the RPI ... no wires .. .. esp32 for BT perhaps ..
Stay tuned. Already built.
Hey bro thats Epic! well done. Subbed faster than my mum can code!!! Looking forward to your channel growing. We of the "51 club" support you. Can we have a follow up on your use of it. That didnt last long. All the best
Thank you! ‘51 Club’ has a nice ring to it. Sure, keep an eye on shorts for modifications and uses. Planning to showcase those kinds of things on there.
@@egotechnic Cool mate. Erm dont get caught going to a casino with it, youll be mugged lol. Perhaps, asking it where you need to go next and get directions. Youll need to specify that its playing a character first. Something like: im creating a d&d game. you are playing the role of detective, sincere friend, or party goer. im going to ask you questions and then you will respond by giving me commentary. i shal ask you, you shall respond, please verify. then have at it :)
p.s. dont reveal my character prompts please
this is very cool very good job , I had a question tho, would it be possible to implement chatGPT on a already existing smart watch using an API ? For exemple buying a smart watch on amazon, connecting the smart watch to a server that has chatGPT, and using it with bluetooth headphones or something like that so that it would simplify the whole thing. JUst an idea that I had I would love to have some opinions on it.
For sure. But you'd be tied to their hardware and firmware limitations. Which may not be a problem, it just means you can't customize it like lego blocks.
I'm a programmer, but stuff like this makes want to get into all the other parts of engineering. Where did you learn and start accruing your collection of electrical/mechanical knowledge and parts?
Glad to hear! I just learned by exploring, I know it's the worst answer. What I tell anyone is you need to find a project you want to build and learn what you need for it
Learning just to learn sucks imo and is full of fluff and grifters. If you learn just what you need, you'll be on the right track. My project was building a jarvis (this ultimately). I suggest something similiar
Really cool work. Is it at all possible to do it with the raspberry pi zero 2w or does it nkt have the juice?
Don't know about a 2w, but a 2 certainly did not have enough juice.
Bro my lungs must be weak soldering w/ no mask makes me cough on sight lol. Or inhalation I guess 😂
Хорошая задумка, парень молодец. Но можно было сделать все раза в 2 меньше размера.
Thank you. Yeah, the size is big but it's doing a lot of onboard processing, which can't be done even on commercial products (speech recognition is onboard. Even an apple watch can't do that)
Can i get the code...
Incredibly project! Do you have any plans to share the project's source code? I would love to play with this idea and see what other applications it could have.
The source code was deprecated within weeks since OpenAI changed so much so quickly. In the future if I have a build whose source code can be shared, I'll share it. Thanks for the comment
Awesome video! Do you have any advice on good places to learn how to wire up a raspberry pi and code it? Trying not to just try to "learn python" or something, and wondered if there is a learning source that centres exclusively on these sorts of applications/personal projects.
Many thanks!
P.s. Any reccomended learning sources/advise on the soldering side would be greatly appreciated 🙏
please could you provide source code for this! I would love to recreate it!
well done and funny haha
Why not just install Bing (in the near future) on a regular smart watch, which is connected to internet via smart phone?
why dont you make it swithc from this to pi computer
Dude you can create a startup and make a million usd with that. Happy to pay $400 for this item.
Haha I think the market is a little saturated for something so bulky. But i could be wrong. What is it about this watch that you'd pay for?
Wanted to follow up here. Actually considering making a startup with a pricepoint around there, no subscription. What would you use something like this for?
Could you provide the stl files and code?
Is there a reason why you didn't use a pi zero w/2w?
Compute issue. Never tried 2w, but the pi zero would crash with speech recognition. That's the thing - any api stuff can be done with a smaller device. The pi 4 is needed for the heavy compute of speech recognition.
Hey nice video. Can you please provide the source code or a github repository for the Chat GPT integration. I want to make something like this but based on Arduino for my college project. Btw I came here from your Reddit post in r/Arduino.
Sorry for the late response. The (free) api was quickly deprecated. OpenAI was changing a lot at the time and everything from the models to the call itself changed. So the code was pretty useless.
However, if you still have an interest (college or not) pinging any api from a wifi-enabled Arduino is just a simple api call and return. But this watch's speech recognition wouldn't run on any old Arduino. Maybe you could make it work with a cloud service like STT for python.
@@egotechnic Hey Thanks for the reply even if it's late. Your project kinda worked as an inspiration for me. I actually learnt to use the free API at that time and used ESP 32 to connect to the internet and use the API. And it worked very easily. Now I am still learning about the other projects. But your video helped me a lot. And I also won the project exhibition in my college based on my project. So thanks man. Have a good day.
Woah that's awesome! Congrats on the win.@@himanshuhero
Could u share the code?
4:38 frailest hands ever
That's right
I don't think the point is that AI can't be useful, but it strikes me, if your using AI to create term papers and do your homework are you really learning anything? I use a form of AI every day to look things up, both previously researched, a formula, or something new. But I am learning and doing the work to actually understand it. Do people who use this actually understand it? What happens if ChatGPT goes away or they raise their fees?
Agreed. It’s important to know how something works, but once that’s worked out, these tools can automate the tediousness of doing mentally taxing tasks over and over again.
Good evening friend I'm from Greece and I would like you to make a more detailed video step by step how you made this watch because I would be interested in making it myself for personal use
I would like it if you could give me the programming code you made for the Public watch in a comment or something more personal if we get in touch If you don't want it to be so public I would like to try it for that
DUUDE
PLEASE MAKE A HU.MA.NE AI PIN CLONE
If people would buy it I would tbh. Could probably cut their price in half
@@egotechnic Fr? lmk if you want to build a prototype. I'd buy one if you made it and would be down to contribute some funds for materials
Thinking more and more seriously about this. If you can gave me some possible use cases here that can give me a better idea of what to build
I can make more smaller than you,😂😂😂
Make a vid of it and send me the link!

nice, but the starbucks part destroyed it.
