It is reported Ukraine deployed a record 100-strong 'flock' of kamikaze drones to attack the bunker complex in Toropets.
Russian troops manning the base, 300-miles from the front, were reported to have been vaporised in the attack.

Britain and America have just had a very sensitive meeting about 'the possibility valid targets for western-supplied long range missiles deep inside of Russia' ... and the results of that meeting were, of course, not disclosed! It may be that western long-range bunker-busting munitions have just been used on Russian soil for the first time!
If so, the west is signalling to Putin that they are willing and capable of escalation - and to ensure he is in no doubt about their commitment. Ambiguity is incredibly dangerous!
NATO's previous attempts to avoid escalation have resulted in Putin doubting their resolve. So, now, NATO needs to dispel any doubts Putin may have. This way we can avoid dangerous miscalculations.
So, it really wouldn't surprise me if this was a single 'clear message' from the West.

A quick look at the site on Google Earth shows that there were piles of ammo stood outside some of the bunkers. Obviously the money saved on labour by not putting it inside went into someone's back pocket.

I live in Odessa, Ukraine. When was this? About a week ago at 3 am I watched from my skyrise apt as hundreds of bombs were send off from about ten miles south of us. Then I heard large bombs go off to my NE. It lasted 1.5 hours.

No, the initial detonation is speculated at the moment to have been an anti-air munitions warehouse, based on the shape of the initial detonation. We have no actual way of knowing, of course. But when a bomb is big enough, it makes a mushroom cloud. There were hundreds of thousands of bombs stored on that site.
I don’t think you can detonate a nuclear bomb just by exploding something else next to it, but I might be wrong.

The problem with that is these weapons are constantly arriving and going to meet demand which requires doors to be opened from time to time and that makes them vulnerable to a drone getting in.

How can a drone do that? That aint no drone, thats a bunker blaster bomb which the ukranians do not have...
It was a swarm of drones hitting an missile and ammonium nitrate depot. It only takes one to go off near a warhead or explosive compound for all of it to go up violently. What you see in this footage is the russian missiles and explosives going off after being hit by a drone.
It is an array of relatively small underground bunkers, i think an individual bunker is hard to hit by such a heavy bomb. The facility is or should be designed such that if 1 bunker gets destroyed, the others are unaffected. That is if the protocols are followed and not more explosives stored than allowed in 1 bunker. My feeling is that this explosion was only indirectly caused by the attack, and mainly caused by mistakes made at the facilities. It's almost not possible otherwise, as it's designed to withstand bombs and apparently it even has been upgraded, no?

Satellite imagery show some destruction of several hardened bunkers but the smoke is so thick the extent of damage is unknown at this time.
The explosions coupled with the smoke and seismic readings make it pretty clear the damage was utterly devastating to whatever was inside them. I wouldnt be surprised if there is now a massive crater.
