Thanks for this brutally honest take on the V-Modas. I own both the LP2 and the M-100, and while they're great for casual listening at home, actually djing with them is a pain in the a** due to their sharp metal parts (like you mentioned), the weight and most importantly: the lack of any swiveling mechanism, making them just too stiff and inflexible for cueing with one ear. Don't get me wrong, I love them for their sturdiness and their amazing sound. They're just not suitable for DJing!
vmodas are terrible for djing. the fact they are popular says a lot about the current state of DJing in general. no one needs to use them because they press sync lol
Interesting. I decided to use the LP2's for home mixing because I thought about those stiff hinges and parts not being replaceable would be a problem in the future. HD25's when I spin out. Well before the Covid zombie bug hit. My m50x are used in my studio just because they are close to my Yamaha monitors for doing headphone mixing. Very curious about the AIAIAI's but they cost too much here in the states. $200usd. Too much when the HD25's can be had for $149usd. Excellent video!!
Thumbs up on everything you said about the Technics. They are legends in their own right. They are my go to headphones for every show I've played for ever since I picked them up in 2008. They're comfortable for DJing, built like a tank and have the best ergonomics for a set of DJ headphones. For Techno there's the Sennheiser Hd25, for everything else, there's the Technics RP DJ1200.
im currently using the ath m50. ive had them for 10 years now and just needed to replace the ear pads every few years. i recently got the v moda crossfade 3 wireless. hopefully wont have the screw problem. ive only been using them when i want to go wireless on my phone
I saw that AiAiAi Headphones before 2 years in a picture & i took a screenshot i will send you that picture on instagram. But I don't know the brand name ... now you help me to find it ... Thanks for making my day by this video ☺️☺️☺️❤️❤️❤️
Even I had the same problem with V Moda M100 But your lucky you found those small screws I feel those Technics old headphones are best but it's not available
I love m y HD-25s, this past year they have started to come apart and bad connections into the drivers, but that was 8 years of moderate Dj use and at home on the computer, Definitely buying another set this month to replace them. highs, lows and mids are all even, so great for production and Dj, compared to some others that are bass heavy.
A much Helpful video for me ..Just would give a suggestion plz keep the background music a little low as it constantly hits ears as i was trying to hear your Voice
I had Technics RP-DH 1200, hinges are rubbish lasted less than 6 months, little heavy, but sounded good...I had 2 pairs of Sony MDR-V 700, better hinges but each cracked after about 3y & I take great care of my equipment...now I use discontinued Pioneer Dj HDJ-2000, the cable connection is not the best, everything else is great, super comfortable ;) was little expensive though....after these I will go for HDJ-X7 or X10 from pioneer - downside EXPENSIVE..
Great video...love the Technics...i had 2 pairs throughout my DJing career...but I think the oldest would be the HD25 as it has been around since 1988...i own a pair just because I cant get a hold the Technics but I'm loving it ever since...HD25 is also legendary!!!
You're right. HD25s were launched back in the 80's. I've never had the money or the opportunity to buy them ever since. I did manage to get one pair when my career took off and they didn't even last 6 months thanks to their faulty design :( and so Technics still remain the the best for me 😇
I am using Sennheiser HD 205 for over 3 years now and the build quality is excellent for price it is sold at. The sound signature is flat, the bass is not boosted like the Pioneers or Vmodas. For anyone looking for good quality DJ headphones under 5k, I would definately recommend HD 205.
DJ Deep Bhamra I was surprised you didn’t mention or that no one voted the Sennheiser HD8... to me they are ideal. You don’t have to bend the ears up but if you like to keep one ear up on for a long time, then it’s really handy. Plus it has two different positions to bend them to! Also comes with both the solid vinyl style and cloth texture ear cups. I also got the Pioneer 10 or whatever that one is. It’s expensive, I agree. But it is one of my favorite listening headphones. Also has a way to bend either ear cup away, but it leaves some of the metal headband exposed and it can touch your head. Comfortable to put one cup back though like with regular headphones and still grips your head nice and tight. I prefer the extra bass of the Sennheiser though, it’s full without being too much... easy to hear the incoming beat. I tried V Moda too but returned it. Just wasn’t very comfortable around the neck, as you said! Both the Sennheiser and Pioneer ones are very comfortable around the neck (and on ear). Oh, and one other plus for Sennheiser... you can plug the cable into either side! So if you’re a leftie, or if you’re double DJing, or your mixer’s jack is simply on one side or the other of the mixer... it will always be out of your way since you can pick which side. :)
I personally have ath m50x but rather I prefer to use when I am clubbing are Boult audio loops they are inears not meant for djing but I love them because they don't give distortion and help me listining to beats and doing beat matching much better 😁
I'm looking for a headphone that has a good bass and is more flexible on the strap, unfortunately my last ones broke on the strap, so it needs to be a good one, more flexible, durable.
Technics, yes they have awesome articulating cups, but the build quality of hinges are crap. Vmoda m100, the build quality is nowhere near to LP2, the female jack(s) are really really crap they loosen to the point they are completely not working easily in short of time, the paint easy to peel off, ive got no problem with it hinges and screws but yes the hinges things makes me worry for the future. Vmoda LP2, now this is a perfect headphones according to my needs as i always bring headphones enywhere i go, good sounding good sound stage good low and high wit bit recessed mid, NO HINGE HINGE THING, the build quality is phenomenal, this is my perfect EDC, inthe next 2 months is it 7th birthday and still working perfectly like the day 1, but yes of course the provided earpads and band pad are peel off like crazy but its not big problem because i have plan to customize the band pad with real leather, no brainer to bring this headphones anywhere because it very very stylish IMO the most stylish headphones in industry
vmoda 100 was hands down the worst dj headphone i ever used. little screws started falling apart just after months and the sound profile is too bassy muddy and takes over mids. Never again.
I can attest as my Vmoda's have fallen apart at the hinge where the plastic V is. the plastic just fell off. Then on a pair before this the left cup just stopped working. I did like them but I won't buy another pair at this point.
I think he and people who complaining about screws don't know that in this world there is a thing called treadlock(er) material which is Loctite the one of most known one
Yeah V-Moda's are over hyped. My M100 lasted a year before the ear cups started wearing out. 3 years later and the right cup is dead. I cannot recommend them
Somehow i do not trust a "DJ" who does the whole "streaming effects, zoom in zoom out" kind of thing during the entire video, it just doesnt appear so serious imho and only gives me a feeeling that you asked 200 streamers what they prefer, not real dj's.. Not a Single reference to the different soundstages, not a single photo of the different frequency responses, nor did you even mention that word a single time. Being a dj myself i'd focus on these things and try to forward information that is actually important rather then just talk about "parts".. Nontheless you did include some of the all time legends among headphones like the HD25 and ATH50, but to be fair a headphones "dj" video without Bayerdynamics products is not a legit dj video.. Im sorry, thumbs down my man.
people r using Vmoda since it looks cool by wearing thts it...they dnt even care of djing....meanwhile technics being my top fav since long time bt didnt got it n online price it is showing 22k can u please give me any leads for local seller il be immediately purchasing it its my top wishlist thing to get this thing😐
I was just about to order some V-Moda headphones. Thank you for saving me some money on purchasing the wrong headphones for DJing. Much appreciated.
Rough conversion from rupees to Euros or USD would be super useful for your international audience!
