Great story, was once told about a meteorite that hit by Globe. The meteorite went down the side of the mountain and took out a lot of trees. Person who found it never was able to find the spot again.
Glad you enjoy the videos as I have some more coming out soon. I think you will enjoy the book as it is a life adventure and the last 6 chapters are about treasure stories that I have searched for. Cheers, Greg Hawk
I just stumbled onto your stories and I am very excited to learn about these treasures and respect how much effort you have put into these projects. I live in Parker, AZ and I go for loooong walks in random places out in the surrounding desert. This story really intrigues me. Im definitely interested in making the trip out there to look for the meteorite. I’d like to split it with you if I was to find it. -Jake
Good Video, thank you.... You should try a metal detector to hunt meteorites while there. FYI- The next smaller Dark Mound just north of the Dark mount you climbed to the top of along gas line road was called " The Kings Throne" its where General Patton would observe his tanks from the top of this little hill, to train his tanks during WW2, you can see a road go to the top... Being an avid meteorite hunter/ prospector , doubt the platinum found came off the meteorite.. Mitchel also describes camping at Corn Spring Campground, in the mountains
The old guy who told me the story was a good friend of Mitchells and Mitchell told him the story of the meteorite one night while they were setting around a campfire. Two newspapers reported the meteorite going over in 1920 so I believe it is a real story.
Thanks for the input on "The Kings Throne." I have visited the Patton Museum at Chiriaco Summit years ago and have read many books about him. I have read both of Mitchell's books he has a knack for taking a thread of truth and turning it into an embellished treasure story. He never wrote about the meteorite but told the story to two friends setting around a campfire one night as told to me by one of his friends. The other friend of Mitchell's around the campfire was named Page and several years later he went out to look for it using a dip needle and came across the piece by the dark mounds. He then wrote a 16 page letter to the old guy I knew telling of finding it. I read the letter and that was how I found the stacks of rocks in the video. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback.
I would love to share my story and my treasure if your interested I live in Colorado city Arizona and I found a very heavy dence black rock with what looks to be oviline crystal inside and who knows? you might enjoy the adventure
I am interested in what you found so could you send a picture of it to me? My email address is greghawklives@gmail.com My friend that goes out with me on some of these adventures is a geologist so I will have him take a look at it. Thanks for sharing.
As I said this happened back in the 20's and the big piece cut a furrow for a long way and was buried about 10 to 15 feet deep and the top that was showing was 9 feet across. The other piece that Page found was smaller and, in the video, I showed where it had been dug out at close to the stacked marker rocks. The questions are, did the meteorite hit the top of the mountain and break up into a lot of pieces or did it come apart as it entered our atmosphere, which they sometimes do? Are there more pieces out there is the question? Cheers, Greg Hawk
love that you are doing this . thanks
Glad you enjoyed the video so now take some time and enjoy the Great Outdoors as I have. Cheers, Greg Hawk

It can't be more then a few kilo's or there would have been more visible damage along the strew field.

I liked your videos so much I bought your book
I’m into metal detecting and treasure hunting so maybe your book will have some new clues
The last five chapters or so has a more in depth look into some of the treasure stories. Enjoy!
