7:20 there is actually a much harder version and it is the first version and it's Liszt's La Clochette(S.420) which starts out slow and at some points is nearly impossible to play
@@NathanGlennComposer Yes, I loved it :) Congratulations of an amazing attempt at learning that incredibly hard piece in such a short amount of time. I reckon he must have had a span of 12 notes. That was crazy
4:01 you don't slide! You need to play the precursing note with your pinky, then the real + octave with your 1 and 4 :) Also, please put original or 1838 version in the title, this way it will get WAY more likes! Thank you for the awesome vid! :)
Thanks so much for the feedback! That part felt really awkward, and it was hard to know what to do under time pressure, haha! But good to know 😊 Great idea, I'll add that to the title now! So glad you enjoyed it too!
@@NathanGlennComposer I REALLY enjoy your positive and humble way of being and videos alike! Also, yes of course, under this pressure I wouldn't have even been able to perform anything newly learnt :D By the way, what piano are you using and does it have real mechanics? I am looking to upgrade my e piano to a mechanical one but do not know where to start etc...
I really appreciate your kind comments! Yes, it's a mechanical digital piano with weighted keys, hammer action, escapement etc. Probably the closest thing to a grand piano without the huge price tag 😉 I own a Roland FP-80, but they have since released a new series. I believe the closest one to mine would be their new FP-90X. I've always felt that Roland has the most realistic sound and feel. Hope this helps! 😊
@@NathanGlennComposer For an hour you did incredible. Past the first page you did really well. Can’t wait to see what you do next (maybe that Scriabin piece someone mentioned)
@foulmercy8095 Hi there, just to let you know that I did end up tackling that Scriabin piece for a 1min/10min/1hour memory challenge! 😊 If you'd like to check it out, here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/FG8OsBFzfyU/v-deo.html
That's a really tough one. Props to you for being able to tackle it lol. I recommend Scriabin's prelude op. 15 no. 3. There's no specific reason, I'm just obsessed with the piece lol. Would love to see you try it in future.😮
@sagar1992 Hi there, just wanted to let you know that I completed the 1min/10min/1hour memory challenge of Scriabin's Prelude Op. 15, No. 3! 😊 Thanks so much for the suggestion! Here's a link to the challenge video: ua-cam.com/video/FG8OsBFzfyU/v-deo.html
Having gone through the trouble of learning the majority of this piece in preparation for an upcoming Steinway competition, I must say that I am quite impressed with how well you managaed it in an hour. I'm really curious as to how well you would do on the second half, which is where it becomes way, way harder than the revised G# minor edition (which in my opinion is much easier than this A-flat minor version). As for how far Liszt could reach, I'm confident - having played a significant amount of his music and having what I believe to be the same reach myself - that he could REACH a 12th, but only play a 10th or an 11th. I can reach all of the 10ths at the beginning of the piece until you get to the rolled 12th in the left hand. What I did find most amusing was watching someone else struggle with the exact same parts I did, which is why I want to see you learn the second half (after halfway through the second half, there is a part where you have to play two octaves with your right hand and jump two octaves with your left. It is a unique virtuosic skill that I've only seen in this piece alone). All in all an entertaining video, and I'll subscribe. If you ever want to chat about this piece in particular, write me and I'll be happy to share my thoughts on it.
Thank you so very much for your kind comments, and for subscribing! 😊 True, it's a very difficult piece! I've heard the same, and agree, that it's harder than the revised G# minor edition. I will consider doing the 2nd half, although I'm not sure that it would have as much of an audience since I've technically already completed the challenge using this piece. All the very best for your upcoming competition! That's very exciting!

Yippee!!! I finally found Liszt. Now I can't not see him hahahaha. Great hiding place Nathan. :)
Awesome, hehe! 😎
Brilliantly done Nathan. Going in for my third watch, I thought I found Liszt but alas I was wrong. Love the little guy very creative.
Many thanks Jenni! I hope you find him! 😁
Yeah, that little guy just decided to gatecrash my video! 😜
He took my recommendation!!!
Sure did! Thanks for the suggestion! I hope I did the piece justice. I certainly tried my best 😊
I swear the little cartoon guy was reading my mind at times 😂 great effort in all honesty, I know I wouldn’t be able to do it!

Fabulous effort Nathan. I'm still looking for Liszt. That little man is very funny. Love the comments from him. Well done.
Thanks Annie! Haha, don't give up on your search; I'm sure you'll find him 😉
