    Good Review! I have Japanese & Premium Jems and I've been really impressed with each of my Premium models. The Gravity Storms are some of my favourite Steve Vai pickups. The Jem 70V is still my favourite due to having the Original Edge Bridge but the BFP is possibly the prettiest (if that matters!)

      The Gravity Storms are some of my favourite Steve Vai pickups.
      I also like the DiMarzio Dark Matter pickups on the JEM77WDP commonly referred to as the "JEM Woody"

    Technically the Jem isn't the "father" of the Rg. If anything it's the opposite. Ibanez were creating the new RG's and Vai decided he wanted to join up w Ibanez and create his own guitar. He took what they were doing, took the RG apart, and added some spec's he wanted and that's how the Jem came to be. But these are nice. I've always liked the Jems, Universe and original RG's. All are amazing super strat guitars. And Premiums aren't all Indo built Ibanez guitars. Premiums are made in Indonesia, but they get a little more attention to detail w/ each build than the standards, they get "premium" fret treatment, they come w/ the better Trem system the edge zero2 vs. the "DL" standard Trem, and usually they come w/ better hardware and electronics.

      Can be true or false depending on whether we're talking about "original" RGs or the "current" RGs, and I don't think anyone really thinks of the old original RGs when mentioning an Ibanez RG.

    Also it comes in a nice hard /soft case with Ibanez tool for set ups.

    Great job and playing. Question- did you have to do any mods with the 3rd party whammy arm/bar to install it, or does it just pop right in? Thanks.

    • @Obroos
      @Obroos  3 роки тому +5

      Hi , Yes it stays in tune. Basically it’s just a matter of streching the strings while changing , balanced the Spring and string tension. Once You learn it You’re Happy :)

    1600 bucks for a non-Japanese made Ibanez? Made in Indonesian factory? Is this a joke?

  • @MegaCosmoVision
    @MegaCosmoVision 4 роки тому +5

    this guitar is overpriced for what it is, new is like $1600 and it doesn't have an original edge trem and made indo, you can buy the genesis series which comes with original edge and made in japan for only $1000 and used for less, you won't find these jems even premiums reduce much in the used market because lots of idiots think is more worth than it is just because of the jem name

    • @Owtyg23

      Tbh if you don't mind slight paint damage second hand is the way to go. I got a 7 string rg prestige with a j craft case for only £700 because it had little paint damage on the back

    • @florian6240
      @florian6240 3 роки тому +7

      Well, it is overpriced i'll give you that, but just like any signature guitar from any brand if you really think about it : and while the genesis rg's are good guitars, you are omitting that their pickups are not that good . I wouldn't say they they are bad, that is not my point, but they are certainly not great either. You would have to add let say around 250 to get a good set of HSH pickups , and also RG's an Jem's neck are quite different , i've seen countless people hating the wizards, trying a jem and really loving the neck. As for the original edge, i don't see anything it has that the edge zero doesn't : the EZ has locking studs, which are even bigger than the ones that comes with edge/lo pro ones, and it stays in tune perfectly . I own 2 guitars with original edges, 3 with lo pro's, and 1 with edge zero, and i can telle you that i prefer the lo pro's and egde zero's ones, because they are way more comfortable for palm muting and resting your right hand on the bridge, and they stay in tune no matter what. That is not to say the edge is bad, at all, it's just that for the aformentioned reasons , i find myself playing my lo pro's and EZ equipped guitars way more than the original edge's ones. And for the price aspect, of course the RG would be cheaper, that is the whole reason they were created in the first place, affordable versions of the jems (at the cost of -in order of importance-, not having Jem necks, having Ibby's average sounding pickups, and a lot less of estaethics)

    • @robertolsen9721

      In that case I think the prestige jem is more overpriced. Ibanez 652 prestige is half the price of a jem.

    • @gnnradio3652

      It is a bit overpriced, even used, but it is so great looking and plays and sounds great. I won't go 2k for a guitar. I have two EVH and a Jackson, but will be adding this at some point.

    • @MegaCosmoVision
      @MegaCosmoVision 3 роки тому

      @@florian6240 the genesis made in japan destroys these particular premium in all categories except the pickups which can be changed . The edge zero on this jem is lower quality is NOT hardened steel. The edge zero is more to equivalent to floyd 1000 or floyd special which both are low to mid quality and found in medium range ESPs, Schecters, etc usually around $500-800. The original edge and lo pro are the best trems on the market even better than original floyd rose. This jem premiums are a terrible bang for the money, overpriced not even made in Japan just paying for the Vai name. At this price point $1600-1800 i would just go ahead and buy a used MIJ jem
