Here's the thing about the Caernarvon - it's _not_ a heavy tank. It's a Main Battle Tank. It's not supposed to be engaging in battlecruiser warfare (dealing and receiving massive damage) it's supposed to be a highly mobile, tougher, medium tank. It's supposed to move into position quickly, take a few shots, then relocate.
andre brito It's not that fast, but it loses very little off-road handling, and can accelerate/brake very quickly. The turning circle is quite small, too. Mobility is more than just straight-line speed.
Jingles, More tank reviews please. Most are out of date now due to changes in the meta game and buffs or nerfs to individual vehicles.. I have 13 tier tens now.. but jingles tank reviews were a great help to me as a learner and even now are entertaining at the very least. Love a good tank review video.
jingles, could you do a show called history with jingles or something? or add more history in your reviews? I don't know if anyone would feel the same but I love your knowledge on tanks and aircraft.
In ancient times there used to be a building in every town containing lots and lots of books. Sources are unclear, but it has been suggested they'd let people rent books for free... ;-) Not that I disapprove of your idea. My point is people should start reading books again. If you're interested in ww tanks, the library can provide you everything you desire.... for free.
Thanks for another great review Jingles. And as you stated, please do more, we miss them -- the more detailed and longer with game footage are the best! Also, nothing wrong with re-reviewing a tank previously done in the past, since WG is dead set on constantly changing them all :P Thanks again!
I honestly loved the Caernarvon after I unlocked the 20 Pounder gun. Got some crazy high damage just on account of how fast firing and accurate it was, despite the low alpha, along with the sooperstronk turret and front plate allowing me to hulldown pretty well at tiers 8 and 9.
Jingles I just wanted to say first off that I love these damn videos. You got me into World of Tanks(Xbox, but eh, roll with what you got eh?) and Ive since become a complete addict. You've made me try tanks I didnt think I'd ever bother with and in particular, the French BDR G1 B which has become my most fun tank to trundle about in and the Luchs, assuming I can get through the Cromwell and Comet, Im looking forward to the Centurions as well. So keep up the good work, and keep mye paying WG's bills.
Yay! Finally another review :D MOAR please! One thing, though: I'd really have liked it if one of the replays had shown how to handle the Caernarvon when it isn't top tier. As amazing as that 2nd replay was, it was still mainly against IS's, Hellcats and Co. How do I have to play this thing to not get butchered vs. E-100s, IS-7s, or even E-75s and ST-Is? I have the Caernarvon in my garage but I hardly ever play it for just that reason: when I'm top tier, I do alright. When I'm not, I can't do jack shit (excuse my French). It's just no fun to play for me when 2/3 of the time, I'm just fodder. My request for future reviews would be to have replays for each tier the vehicle can get into, to show how to adapt its playstyle in those different situations.
10:00 Glad you mentioned that (stock Caern.). For me, the stock Caern. was an absolute nightmare (for my play-style at least) I just couldn't take the grind trying to get it even started upgrading, it (the grind) felt so slow I wanted to /wrists due to being quite a weak stock tank (by weak tank I mean it is quite tough to get consistent and reliable damage, therefore reducing XP earning potential). I ended up selling it to go down another line of tanks. This coming from someone who played over 1100 matches in an M46 to grind xp/credits (especially the credits) for an M48 as non-premium at the time. (Though the fact the M46 does actually more closely fit my play-style is almost certainly a contributing factor to this)
I have a few really good games on my Caernarvon. I even have some where I play really aggressive and face hug enemies to give them no chance to pen me. I have the FV215b, and I have got to say the tank line really changes from the Caernarvon on up. you will be blown away with the Conqueror Jungles. and the Fv215b is leagues ahead of that. I am happy to see you do this tank line, and I am one of the unfortunate souls that worked on the heavy line first and had to unlock everything when I got it.
Master Jingles didn't mention anything about crew skills or equipment so I'll give you folks one good recommendation: safe stowage AND wet ammorack. Why? Because Caernarvon's ammoracks are located on both flanks of her lower plate and believe me, I've had enough battles where the rack is damaged twice in that one round to know what I'm talking about. Fairly safe to say it's at least 3 times more often than the second tank racked twice. The biggest advantage of Caernarvon is after all great rate of fire of well penetrating snipeshots so you'll really need those shells flying as often as possible.
Something I'd like to quickly say about the BP's turret, is that the frontal thickness in the in-game description is only applicable to the very outer edge of the front, as the rest of it is either covered by a monster 300+mm gun mantlet or much thicker armor. So unless you have the second gun on the carn or want the better view range and gun handling then I'd suggest sticking with the BP's turret until you do have the second gun.
Best game I ever had in my Caernarvon was amazing. Tier 9 standard game on himmelsdorf fired that gun so much I ran out of ammo but I got a Radley Walters medal out of it.
Hey Jingles, you forgot to mention how much better the upper plate is compared to the Centurion. When I had this tank I used to drive it in platoon with my brother in his Centurion and he hated the Centurion because in it you cannot shot ANY other parts than your turret, if you don't want to get penetrated. On the Caernarvon however, if you drive upwards over ridge lines your sloped upper plate becomes impenetrable while using that 10 degree gun depression to rip your enemies apart. In the Caernarvon you only really need to know where your enemies are (so you don't get shot in the sides and rear), know where to find small hills to climb/peek over and to hide your lower plate.
Well Jingles, you didn't mention some of the major strengths of this tank, its great accuracy on the move and its great view range. when fighting in a team battle, I mount binos on it and provide some spotting for my teams of IS-3's
I remember driving the Caernarvon. Even when stock, the Caern was a force to be reckoned with. People really expect this tank to have no hull armor, and to be sluggish. And... Well, it isn't. The upper plate armor of this when angled properly will bounce tier tens at times, and that gun. Ohhhhh that gun. This gun is capable or carrying tier nine teams, and absolutely excels at long range combat. If you like a heavy that can slug it out at range, get this tank. It's a lot better than it looks.
The only thing that really hurts it is the almost sluggish ROF on the Top 20 Pounder. For such low alpha It really is quite odd that at this point(almost to 9.6) it still has not received a ROF buff. The same can also be said of the Black Prince with the almost woeful nature of it's 17 Pounder.
Herminipper I know this. I've had mine for a LONG time and know what I'm talking about. It simply can not be used like a medium because it does not have the speed to exploit openings and under-guarded flanks like the Centurion can and because the armor is somewhat poor you can't afford to be caught alone in it. The last part would not be such a harsh case IF it had the DPM to defend itself from more then one opponent But most players will shrug off a 230 damage to out flank you because they know that once you have to start fighting more then one flank they have you and almost all the mediums can match it's reload or have a better one.
Great vid! Love mine as well, but unlike you I needed to play threw the stock in high tier games... haha... your prediction on bad games were spot on. Keep up the good work! Big fan.
I love the British heavy line, had some great games in the Churchys and the BP. Almost done grinding through the Caernarvon and yeah I like it as well. The low damage on the Brit heavies seems like it would suck to play but being able to constantly fire and track peeps faster than most other heavies can really be fun sometimes : D
My recommendation is to not unlock the Type B Barrel on the Caernarvon because of two very good reasons: it firstly shortens the grind you have with it, secondly the stock gun Type A Barrel on the next tank, the Conqueror, has a decent rate of fire and its characteristics are close to the Type B Barrel and the Conqueror also has some hull armour that is worth mentioning, so grinding with that tank is more fun.
I found out that in the Caenarvon, as I recently just got it, if you angle it at 20 degrees it bounces a lot of shots. Hope this helps those out there who own a Caenarvon! :)
Well it certainly was not your first game, way back in 2011 back in October around when I first subbed, you did a video on british heavys being introduced. I loved your old intro with the gun sounds
Since nobody ever realises that track traverse in the WoT garage is only listed for *stock* power-to-weight, here's the actual track traverses of the British HT line (top modules, no equipment, excl. terrain resistance): Churchill I - 25 d/s Churchill VII - 22 d/s Black Prince - 35 d/s Caernarvon - 27 d/s Conqueror - 35 d/s FV215b (120) - 38 d/s (garage listings are always correct for automatically elite tanks)
I'd have popped up tank inspector, the British tanks as modelled in world of tanks nearly all have side-skirts, they are only ~8mm thick but in combination with the 20mm spaced armour that the tracks provide and the loss of normalization even a 122mm russian gun witch gets overmatching bonuses faces upwards of 300mm of armour when side-scraping everywhere but near the turret ring!
I must say that I love this tank. It is not slow, got a good gun, and good armor. I get your point jingles, but I had no problems with the armor. I mean, I got IS3s or 110s bouncing off my front armor. The turret gives Tier 10 tanks problems. A 113 kept bouncing off. I was holding a ridge allone gainst an M 103, he could not penetrate my turret frontl and also bounced on my frontal armor. While I were pinging him to death. The gun depression is also great. This tank has the ability to fight over an hill. I was holding 3 tanks back, I could shoot over the hill and hit them, they had all kind of troubles. My favourite Tier 8 tank at the moment.
I've seen jojos replay long before this video was posted and I knew everything that was going to happen... that maked the action less exciting but still great vid. GJ!
Great tank, I really hated the BP and now I get this and I'm in love. A keeper for me as a HUGE fan of the gun and British high tiers in general (meds and heavies atleast). Can't wait for the conqueror and chieftain
TheQuiriGamer yeah i already do :P i just really enjoy jingle's videos and would be interested in some from him aswell! its fine if he doesn't... i have been a loyal sub since WT Alpha test which i was a part of... since then he has made me play WoT which i am now a big fan of and also WoWs, AW soon, and other good stuff
Jingles I have the conqueror heavy the teir 9 british heavy tank and I think your gonna love it if you like the E-75's gun because the 120 on it is so much fun
Hey Jingles! If your going to make more tank reviews in the near future, could you make a video with short reviews of your favorite tanks in the game right now? My favorites at the moment are the LTTB and M41 Bulldogg, so much fun :)
Stock Caern isn't too bad if you are tier 8 matched and under, above that it gets frustrating. Ground the British heavy line w/o premium up through the Conqueror before even touching the British medium line.
I only played console. I think this tank is underrated because of the perception of other players. They tend to target other tanks. They don't assume that you are a threat. It puts you in a good position when someone is looking the other way.
The canearvon generally just needs a hill to do well, it has amazing gun depression so it can turn itself into a wall of auto bounce and just keep pumping out shots into its opponents. To be fair this is hard to do unless you are good know the correct spots in maps, and have support (or silly opponents) basically it has the same rule as all British tanks do they are either awful beyond belief or completely un stoppable and great fun.
Hi Jingles nice vid. The unlocking of the B barrel also works the other way round, unlock it on the Caernarvon means the Tier 9 cent 7/1 grind is actually really fun. probably the first grind which was actually a fun nice grind where I didn't feel that i have had my nuts in a vice. Perhaps you could do a video on how to grind tanks, what do you do when you are stock and don't have the best modules on tanks!oh and don't have 100k free exp to burn.
The Caernarvon has basically the same hull as the Conqueror. This means; never expose anything below the line that the headlights sit on, you will be ammo racked if you do, and the upper front plate, while fairly thinly armoured, is raked back at such an angle, that most tanks you will face cannot reliably penetrate it without using gold. You can even angle (slightly) to make it more troll. Just don't give the enemy a chance to overmatch your pathetic side armour. Also, you can often hang out in front of an enemy heavy, and get 2 shots into him, while he reloads. Hope this helps any aspiring Caernarvon drivers. Also the Conqueror in top spec makes the Caernarvon stock grind worth it.
The 130 UFP shouldn't be take into account, as the tracks are so thick that to hide the side armour when peeking out a corner is difficult, but possible.
Just from watching the beginning of this video, something caught my eye. I'm sure others will back me up on this. TOG!!! TOG platoon, Jingles. C'mon! You know you want to.
I do quite like the Caernarvon. While it does have low DPM in comparison to the BP, anyone who has driven the BP will tell you only 1 out of every 5 shots actually goes in due to average accuracy and weak pen. In the Caernarvon, on the other hand, due to it's great gun handling and fantastic pen, most shots go right into a weakspot and pen. The armor may look bad on paper, but that second clip is a perfect example of how to drive a Caernarvon. Get on a backwards slope, with the ridgeline covering your lower plate, at medium ranges where they can't pinpoint the weak roof of your turret, and keep moving. This thing can bounce all comers in those kind of positions, including trolling a few tier 10 guns (Not that you should rely on that).
Not really. With the BP you can be in a position where you don't need high accuracy to hit, while doing so in a Carn will only end up with you in flames. Also the 17pdr had more than enough pen to handle any t7 without giving much thought about weakspots. On t8s you really need to aim carefully and yes only about 60/70% will go through, while it's almost useless against t9. The same applies to the 20pdr B, with the exception it can handle some tier 10s. The big difference is the durability of both tanks. Skilled BP's driver will give a HARD time trying to get rid of them. With some support so you don't get rushed, you can sidescrape all day long in a BP without taking damage (thanks to the better turret, which is actually 240mm and 152mm on the edges, which are far more tricky to hit than the upper front turret) and ,yes, you might not do a lot of damage in t9 games, but you will end up being a super scout. The only superior thing about the Caern is the gun depression, but i'll take a smaller gun depression for an impenetrable side armor (while sidescraping ofc) any day. I almost forgot: the BP is far more resilient to arty than a Caern, which is pretty important imo, since both need to hold a position in order to work properly.
samuele inzaghi Caernarvon is a hill tank, BP is a city tank. If you play a Caernarvon on hills with is gun depression it will last as long as you need it to. BP has a stronger turret front for sure but you rarely get to take advantage of that.
Hey Jingles, wasn't a good chunk of damage done due to his assistance actually from when he tracked the T-34 as it headed for the IS-3? It was like 237 damage right after a tracking shot. If that is true, that means that there's even far less damage done due to his assistance somewhere else.... maybe I am wrong...
Is there any possible way to slip a tank review once a week in your schedule? As you said before it'd be nice to go back to doing them more often. Great review btw, the tank has a place in my garage :)
Did jingles just call the conquerer a proper heavy? My experience was that of a strange looking TD with the conquerer, considering how anything equal tier or higher could pen the turret cheeks and it has the hull of the caenavon.
Spot on, it's not bad, it's not great. That was a great game by the guy at the end but look what he faced, tier 8 mediums, 1 premium heavy and mainly tier 6s and 7s, very few TDs. Against 170-200mm pen guns the Caernarvon will bounce it's fair share if you hide that lower plate. What it really needs is a DPM boost, that reload should 1.5 seconds quicker at least then it would be a really fun tank to use. Oh and the Conqueror is not a proper heavy tank, it has a Heavy Tank gun but it's armour is actually WORSE than the Caernarvon and it again very much a support tank.
The Caernarvon is actually a really good tank, but everything it does other than long range snapshots is simply done better by the T 32 American Tier 8 Heavy tank. Also, the really good pen on the gun with AP doesn't really matter in competitive play, because APCR. Not to mention that the accuracy of the gun is negligible at under 100M, where some engagements happen. IS-3's have no issues hitting weak points at that range.
So, Jingles, remember when you put up your review of the Löwe tier 8 premium heavy tank, saying you were going to revisit older tanks you hadn't reviewed in a while? (Of course, in the Löwe's case...) Maybe some of your next few tank reviews could be something along those lines. Also, can we expect a review of the AMX 50 Foch anytime soon?
This tank is always the hardest tank for me to get my first win of the day. :/ However, I do have the occasional great game and fall in love with this tank all over again. It seems just when my love for this tank almost runs out I do really well in it again.
Hmm... I really don't like WoT (hate is too strong a word, but it's bloody close) and yet I find myself watching your WoT tank reviews anyway. Must be something about your soothing voice and dry wit. :)
An old fashioned jingles' tank review :D
Your new content is always getting better, but nothing beats the classics.
agree, i love the tank reviews!
he needs to do warthunder tank reviews
Bobby D No he doesn't. War Thunder sucks ass.
tetramanus
Opinions are a very complicated thing, eh?
tetramanus warthunder is awesome idk what your talking about
Yes! PLEASE bring back your tank reviews, that's what brought me to your channel, your replays just made me stay. :)
Warrant Officer Class 3 Sexey
Staff Sergeant Sargent
Stabsfeldwebel Bieber
Are you kidding us Jingles?
Blind luck, I swear!
Good to know I wasnt the only one who noticed :)
The Mighty Jingles
hahaha, Sargent Buck Sexey Drives my Chaffee :)
One of my artillery loaders used to be Sergeant Scare before he got promoted :D
Crimsun Barun It's not really naming. You can only use preset names, not make stuff up yourself.
Yes this is how good review should look like. All prepared up front, lots of cuts on the important stuff. Very good Jingles.
The Centurion is also a Main Battle Tank which explains why they are both similar.
Spot on, good man!
highly mobile??? sure with 34kph
andre brito It's not that fast, but it loses very little off-road handling, and can accelerate/brake very quickly. The turning circle is quite small, too. Mobility is more than just straight-line speed.
It was designed to be a heavy tank
The return of the good old tank reviews, perfect time to take it easy.
Thanks for the respite.
yes honestly my fave content you provide is the classic tank review Jingles, i would love it if you brought it back more.
Always grateful for your WOT tank reviews! There are many great wot youtubers who make decent reviews, but yours are the best IMO
I haven't been blessed with a Jingles review in quite some time. What a way to start my day!
Please, more Tank Reviews, there is nothing like settling in for 40 - 50 minutes for a nice dose of Jingles !
Jingles,
More tank reviews please. Most are out of date now due to changes in the meta game and buffs or nerfs to individual vehicles.. I have 13 tier tens now.. but jingles tank reviews were a great help to me as a learner and even now are entertaining at the very least. Love a good tank review video.

Your tank commander's name Jingles! Its Sexey! LOL
I like when you do tank reviews it lets me know what other people that are average are thinking about higher tier tanks. It gives me a tank to go to.
jingles, could you do a show called history with jingles or something? or add more history in your reviews? I don't know if anyone would feel the same but I love your knowledge on tanks and aircraft.
That's an awesome idea, i'd love for him to do a history peice on certain tanks/planes.

Not that I disapprove of your idea. My point is people should start reading books again. If you're interested in ww tanks, the library can provide you everything you desire.... for free.
Btw: Jingles has uploaded history vids before. He basically talks about the tank during replays. Search for various War Thunder sim videos.
Jack Rolfland yeah, but the library doesn't have jingles's voice. Ive watched most of his history shiz and know I can't get my fix :(
please do this pllllsssssss @themightyjingles
Yay, new tank review!!!!
Love the various series but I love these the most
Spent most of my holidays binge watching Jingles, bruhhh, holiday well spent 👌
A Jingles tank review in under 30 minutes?? This is madness!! :P
Thanks for another great review Jingles. And as you stated, please do more, we miss them -- the more detailed and longer with game footage are the best! Also, nothing wrong with re-reviewing a tank previously done in the past, since WG is dead set on constantly changing them all :P Thanks again!

Oh Jingles, I absolutely love my Caernarvon, I would say its the best vehicle I play with and I find it to be my favorite tank in the game so far!

Jingles doing what he does best. There are still plenty of tanks in the game left to do a review on ;)
This tank is actually cool looking! and a fast tank compared to the BLack Prince :D
Looks cool? What are you smoking Sherman? It looks like a centurion got drunk one night and met her brother who happened to be a conquerer.
Phoenix Fire
Beauty tends to be quite subjective though.
Yeah I agree. All it needs is a bustle on the back of the turret and it's perfect =)
Dont lie it is purty ugly...
TNX255
or some fuel cans and things to make the engine deck look better, it's kinda...naked.
FINNALY a new vid man ive been waiting all day today i turned my comp. at 10 and now here its 3 oclock.... FINNALY
Yes. You really need to make more of these. Reason i started watching you Jingles!!
The Caernarvon is an awesome tank...it is fun to drive and I have a blast in it Jingles...Great Review as always
Thanks for another tank review Jingles. Been waiting for ages :)
Hope you do more reviews more often, the standout thing I watch your videos for, think I've watched every single review now.
Please do more, I just love hearing you ramble on :)

I'm very surprised that jingles' review of this tank.
I thought that he'd like it, because it opens more options for combat than most heavies.
what could be better watching the mighty jingles while eating popcorn
Jingles, the simulator event on War Thunder is back. I don't know about you and the others but I'm really happy in my pants because of this. :D
Thank you for reviewing my current favourite Tier VIII heavy.
Best game I ever had in my Caernarvon was amazing. Tier 9 standard game on himmelsdorf fired that gun so much I ran out of ammo but I got a Radley Walters medal out of it.
I love this channel, if I'm bored you're always there:D
Stay classy jingles and nice crew

Keep up the good work! Big fan.
I just finished the Caern and I loved it. Had a 70% WR and 3 MOE It just works
Good vid , and it comes along just as I am finishing the BlackPrince , spot on timing , ta-mutchly , Salty .
Since nobody ever realises that track traverse in the WoT garage is only listed for *stock* power-to-weight, here's the actual track traverses of the British HT line (top modules, no equipment, excl. terrain resistance):
Churchill I - 25 d/s
Churchill VII - 22 d/s
Black Prince - 35 d/s
Caernarvon - 27 d/s
Conqueror - 35 d/s
FV215b (120) - 38 d/s (garage listings are always correct for automatically elite tanks)
Loving the music in this intro!
With an stock tank this feels lot better allready than other tanks in british heavy line. Except MATILDA
Thanks for the review Jingles. I have the BP and I'm getting close, so it's good to know what I'm going to have to work with....
I've seen jojos replay long before this video was posted and I knew everything that was going to happen... that maked the action less exciting but still great vid. GJ!
I loved my Caernarvon, not as much as my Centurions but still up there; only beaten out by the Tiger II in tier 8 heavy tanks.
Great tank, I really hated the BP and now I get this and I'm in love. A keeper for me as a HUGE fan of the gun and British high tiers in general (meds and heavies atleast).
Can't wait for the conqueror and chieftain
Jingles! Could you start doing tank reviews on WTGF?
or WAT The!! Get Fucked!
Himanshu Gogoi pretty much how i feel driving the KV-2 or M4A3 (105)
ikr
***** I recommend you BaronVonGamez for reviews.
(Please take this as a tip, not as spam)
TheQuiriGamer yeah i already do :P i just really enjoy jingle's videos and would be interested in some from him aswell! its fine if he doesn't... i have been a loyal sub since WT Alpha test which i was a part of... since then he has made me play WoT which i am now a big fan of and also WoWs, AW soon, and other good stuff
Jingles I have the conqueror heavy the teir 9 british heavy tank and I think your gonna love it if you like the E-75's gun because the 120 on it is so much fun
Brilliant video jingles hope you get more subs lately;D!
Perfect timing, Jingles -- I just got my Caernarvon :-)
I really Like the WoT Intro, its badass indeed
Props to JoJo2802, that was one of the best replays I've ever seen
Is nobody going to mention the fact that Jingles' commander is named Warrant Officer Sexey, and his gunner is named Sergeant Sargent?
I stop playing WOT , but this was the one of my favorite tanks.
I think the actual War Thunder intro should become the standard for all of Jingle's videos.
PD: That Staff Sergeant surname :P
I only played console. I think this tank is underrated because of the perception of other players. They tend to target other tanks. They don't assume that you are a threat. It puts you in a good position when someone is looking the other way.
Jingles your crew names are hilarious lol
Just got the first upgrade on caernarvon (Xbox 1), such a relief to finally get rid of the 17pdr!
Jingles you need to do a review of the M103. I need to see your reviews to know how it all works, and I'm sure a lot of other people think so too.
jingles thanks for a new tank review it is how i found you and what you do best :) so more please....and more elite
YAY love your tank reviews
The 130 UFP shouldn't be take into account,
as the tracks are so thick that to hide the side armour when peeking out a corner is difficult, but possible.
Just from watching the beginning of this video, something caught my eye. I'm sure others will back me up on this. TOG!!! TOG platoon, Jingles. C'mon! You know you want to.
I do miss the tank reviews
7:55 no you want to get track first because you will not be able to put new gun in your new turret not spending credits improved suspension.
Yes, you should do more. Your the best.
Screw history channel, this is where its at!
Those crew names jingles haha,
stay classy xD
This tank is always the hardest tank for me to get my first win of the day. :/ However, I do have the occasional great game and fall in love with this tank all over again. It seems just when my love for this tank almost runs out I do really well in it again.
Can we get an updated Caernarvon breakdown please
you might also update some of the older garage reviews
Hmm... I really don't like WoT (hate is too strong a word, but it's bloody close) and yet I find myself watching your WoT tank reviews anyway.
Must be something about your soothing voice and dry wit. :)
I'm currently following this tankline, because I would like to have a chieftain in the future :D
The 8-bit W.o.T event is very good.
