Something I think people missed about this fight and it's non-arena form is the symbolism of how you fight her. It's all royalty. Sectonia 1, the in person fight before her transformation is probably the best embodiment of this theme, because it showcases the theme very well during the course of the fight. The music starts off slow and played on an organ giving off a powerful high status royal feel, and most of Sectonia's attacks are up until a point very royal and disconnected. When the guitar kicks in however, Sectonia transitions into laughing more often, attacking more personally with swords and projectiles and summoning more minions, then promptly killing them with her own attacks. The veneer of a sane ruler comes off and she shows the true colours of her madness, she doesn't truly cared for the function of her status, for the minions, for anyone but herself and her goal, and anyone standing in her way will be removed with gusto. That's why the song is called "Dirty & Beauty", personal combat is unbecoming of royalty, it's something knights and peasants do, but Sectonia does it for her pleasure, she finds delight in it. Up until you actually "kill" her, she's giggling and laughing the entire time, she's toying with you, treating you like garbage to be discarded when it stops being fun. Then you bit too hard, and she realizes the gravity of the situation. Phase 2 is a full-scale war. The way the fight progresses has a heavy air of literally fighting through an army to get to the king, the heart of the problem, and in both versions of the fight you're forced to inch closer as Sectonia gradually involves herself more with laser attacks and direct orders on different types of assaults, getting progressively more desperate to eliminate the immediate threat. "Moonlit Blossom" is a great song that alludes to the stakes of the situation. If she is allowed to bloom to her full power, Sectonia will take over Dreamland and plunge it into an everlasting dark age, ruled by an invincible mad royalty. This is where the fights start to differ. Phase 3 for the standard story mode presents the player with what is essentially a black and white good ending. Kirby receives a miracle fruit and has the standard 3rd act powerup. What happens next is interesting, as the moment the fight resumes, Kirby is sent to the other side of Sectonia, inverting the roles. Here we see what Sectonia was seeing the entire time Kirby was approaching: dawn; a sunrise. And now that the player is facing this direction, it shows the true situation: the moonlight was never gonna stick, you weren't going to lose. It's an amazing bit of symbolism and colour theory, because Sectonia's default look stands out from the increasingly orange and yellow sky. Soul phase three is different in that there's never a last minute powerup. Not for you anyways, but Sectonia has different plans. She realises she's lost, and she still fights on. This time, not to secure a kingdom, but to perform the ultimate selfish act of taking revenge and taking her conqueror down with her. This is where her madness peaks and she seemingly taps into some attacks only Void-affiliated beings have been able to use (drawcia too I guess but I'm pretty sure she's void to some extent too). She's no longer even Sectonia, if the pause screen is to be believed. She's gone. What remains is a pile of chlorophyll, magic, madness and spite that keeps losing it's shape because it no longer has an identity. She's not a queen anymore, not a bug, not a spider. She's no longer a person. The downfall of the mad queen, this time, *colourized*.

That battle was was just eerie for reasons that just sends a message about beauty and what happens when people get lost in it and valuing their beauty over what's really important in their lives. That's how it started with Taranza and Queen Sectonia. A mirror (and one from the amazing mirror) that corrupted her soul to the point that she fell into insanity. It took so much from her that all that remained was a madness that was left behind. A madness born from opposition threatening to prevent her "beautiful" conquest. Taranza was with her thick and thin, but his actions caused his beloved queen to suffer to the point that she could no longer be reached by even his voice. A guilt that stays with him for life, and he longs to see her again, persisting in a quest bring her back from death. Despite being my enemy for a time, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him knowing that what he did was just to please his queen he cared for. This is the second time I've had to deal with anything with the mirror that played a role in Triple Deluxe, I thought I was done with the mirror and any influence from it. But I was wrong, but at least managed to break the mirror again in Dedede Tour and rid PopStar of a corrupted soul born of the Dimension Mirror's influence.

5:05 instantly made my stress go through the roof when it happened to me. Under half health. No copy ability. Screwing up a lot because of how much I was stressed. Never knew anything about this game past the final boss of the main story, so I was blind going into this. I had finally beat a boss (don't remember which) that took so many tries, even while cheesing with Archer. A Kirby game now currently holds the position of giving me the most stress I've had in a single player game.
I remember back so long ago in virginia about me fighting this boss, I thought it would be the hardest thing. But when Kirby: Planet Robobot came, I was wrong, the robobot game had brought me major excitement and joy, but then when I fought the true final boss of the game, my heart was pounding, I could hear it pounding, I was so scared that if i'd lose, i'd have to go all the way back to the start. The Star Dream Soul OS was my top goal in the game, it was a boss truly to remember, and me winning meant a lot to me. Just watching this fight brings me back so far into the kirby 3DS games.

The 1st time I faced Soul of Sectonia, I 1. Lost my archer ability 2. Got down to low health 3. Beat phase 1 4. Died after she summoned Antlers and immediately used her vine attack Now I need to get my heart rate down... Edit: Second verse, same as the first. Edit 2: THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM!!!!
This was one of the few bosses when I knew she was powerful. The feeling of how much more powerful she got when she ate the fruits was super clear to me when I first got there as a kid. Then to top it all off I lost my shit when she disconnected herself from her body.
Holy cow the last attack she turned into freaking Dark Mind. I just realized that. It's basically Dark Mind but without it's eye. Makes sense considering the origins of her corruption were from the mirror. 7:10 to be exact. Now imagine that with an eye on it. It's Dark Mind.
Villain of Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, which this game heavily alludes to the events of. It's implied he not only survived his death, but went on to orchestrate the events of this game.

When I got to this part, this entire boss fight horrified me. I was playing defensively which made me spend around ten minutes on just the last fourth of her health bar. I was one hit away from death and I couldn't bear to risk my entire run. Those laughs certainly didn't help ease the feeling.

When she turned into the fireball, I remember screaming "SHE BECAME THE SUN HOW DO I DODGE THAT?!" and my brother said JUST DODGE IT!
This was one of the few bosses when I knew she was powerful. The feeling of how much more powerful she got when she ate the fruits was super clear to me when I first got there as a kid. Then to top it all off I lost my shit when she disconnected herself from her body.

Holy cow the last attack she turned into freaking Dark Mind. I just realized that. It's basically Dark Mind but without it's eye. Makes sense considering the origins of her corruption were from the mirror. 7:10 to be exact. Now imagine that with an eye on it. It's Dark Mind.

I forgot how many new attacks were added in the EX battle. Or at least how much they change.
When I got to this part, this entire boss fight horrified me. I was playing defensively which made me spend around ten minutes on just the last fourth of her health bar. I was one hit away from death and I couldn't bear to risk my entire run. Those laughs certainly didn't help ease the feeling.
