I looked up the story behind Bob the Blob. It seems uncanny because it was never meant to be see by the public. The animations were made by a grandma for her grandchildren, Dylan and Jake. The characters in the story are named after them, and the story is vaguely based on their interests. It was animated using an Amiga, and the voice over was done in more or less real time.
Nanny Lynn went to a copy store to make copies of her animations for her grandchildren's friends. The person who worked at the copy store found them amusing, so they (dubiously ethically) made extra copies to distribute among their friends. One of these extra copies ended up being uploaded UA-cam, which is how Vinny ended up watching it here.
Nanny Lynn discovered that her animations had been uploaded online, but fortunately she approves of the attention they have received. She has since digitized and uploaded other animations she made with her Amiga.

The horrifying realisation I've seen Paddy the Pelican before... and it was in an animation extracurricular class. It was shown to demonstrate how to do everything wrong: action is drawn including the background, the voices, actions being described and not shown, everything. Truly this lady was vastly ahead of her time. Her shorts with that retro Amiga animation look fit right in alongside bizarre-charming indie games and unique animated youtube shorts. And her understanding of 'kid logic' in storytelling to entertain children is wonderful.

I actually kind of liked the Nanny Lynn film seeing it. Now that I found out they were made by a grandma for her grandkids (who appear as inserts in the cartoon) I love it. And it makes sense that the story comes off like a toddler wrote it. The ideas probably were in part from her grankids, or from a creative grandma who understood 'kid logic' in storytelling from telling other weird funny stories to her grandkids. Instead of being weirded out I'm charmed by this heartwarming bit of love from a grandma to her grandkids. Nanny Lynn, wherever you are, you're the best.

Something to note about the Finnish LOTR is that it was an almost straight adaptation to television from an ambitious stage play, most of the same actors and team worked on both. They left out everything that would have been entirely unfeasible to produce on stage, so it focuses only on the Hobbits, hence the name. It's also why - along with the obviously limited budget and technology - the framing, static shots, use of bluescreen as a "stage", and acting ends up resembling theatre.

Paddy The Pelican is by a Disney animation veteran named Sam Singer who got into TV broadcasting in the 1950s. This and other shows was his attempt to work within the limited scope and budget of the television animation medium. The drastically reduced timeframe to work on the show plus the lack of resources and polish meant the shows were quite a strange trainwreck. The creator made several other shows that were similarly bizarre and cheap looking, and eventually retired from animation in the late 1960s after enduring years of negative reception from his shows. The show kind of serves as a snapshot of a time when golden age theatrical animation was on the way out and cheap-and-fast television animation was coming into vogue, and as an example of a talented artist who couldn't quite adapt to the pioneering medium compared to others like Hanna-Barbera. (Who he worked with briefly.)

Konkari (Aragorn) and Gollum were played by the same dude for some reason. It's one of those weird casting choices, but it works - since the actor has some serious range.
Me and the guy who played Bilbo happened to share a plane ride once, and he growled at me when everyone was getting off the plane (it's a long story).

bob the blob, bob the fucking blob. Seeing that live was one of the worst yet most intriguing and incredible things I have ever seen in my entire life.
The body horror, with Bob getting eaten up by the “lady white rat”(lots of corpse eating), the rat and Bob changing forms against their will, Bob losing his limbs, all too surreal.
Then comes the strange stuff, with bob really wanting to get in the rat cage to “play” with the “lady white rat”(probably just the mind down the drain), the gigantism, the rocket going up the cat's bum, the cucaracha with its name and its lips(why did have lips and why did they look like that), all things that can’t even really be explained with words.
Thats not even beginning to mention the amount of torture involved, with how the children put him in a cup surrounded by water to make sure he didn’t leave, and not even giving him food, literal torture; not to mention giving him his dead friend’s corpse(which bob eats, wtf) and pushing him in the water when they’re not even sure if he was waterproof. Evil kids they are, with no comeuppance either, not to mention the doctor playing god with bob, poor guy.
But all of it, all of that torture to the retinas, to all 5 senses. For a pun. A god damn pun, not even a good one either. Vinny really didn’t know what he was getting into when deciding one more wouldn’t hurt.
We now live in a post nanny lynn bob the blob world whether we like it or not.
