Another outstanding quality of Buddy Rich. He could make you laugh. His wit and stage appearance was just as quick as his drumming. And let us not forget Buddy could tap dance Sing Tell Jokes and play the greatest drums in the universe. Also might I add Buddy Rich was a U S Marine and he served his country proudly. All of these great qualities combined into the Worlds Greatest Drummer. Cloud View thank you for letting us see our idol.
Wonderful! (I'm a little jealous. 1977 was a skipped year for me seeing Buddy live, unfortunately. But I did see him in early 1978, and it was FANTASTIC.)
Buddy Rich (Nueva York, 30 de septiembre de 1917 - Los Ángeles, 2 de abril de 1987) fue un baterista estadounidense de jazz, representante del swing, bop y, en general, del jazz de las big bands.
Johnny got a bit tongue tied with Buddy sometimes and the interviews sometimes started a bit slow, but the two of them both enjoyed each other's company and as you see in this one, silliness ensues.
cloudview747 Thanks for all the great videos of Buddy. Did you post or do you have the interview where (I think) George Lindsey (Goober) is also a guest and Buddy started talking about his views of country music?
There's an excellent Buddy Rich solo in a movie called 'How's About It' from 1943. Do you by any chance have this footage or know where it may be available? Thank you.
Very sorry, don't know anything about that footage.

I a m an avid self taught drummer and Mr. Rich was a great drummer with , and who knew he did all kinds of things
Wow, a very obscure start that keeps Buddy on the edge with the Zingers! Johnny throws 'em right back..Fantastic!
🙂
Buddy Rich's last words when the nurse asked him before surgery if there was anything he could not take. He said, "Country music!" Classic!
My God that was funny! Thank you so much for posting!
You are welcome.
I was in Disneyland that week and saw Buddy and the band! FANTASTIC⚡️

A wild and somewhat frizzy hair/wig style I've never seen before.

Yes I do have it. It's from The Mike Douglas Show 2/12/71. I only posted the unaccompanied drum solo footage.
That exchange with George Lindsey (about his (Buddy's) views on country music) is priceless. I saw it a long time ago on YT but can't find it anymore.
I just posted it this morning Andy.
Thanks so very much. You're incredible.
