G'day Gary, Every time I see the Sickxty I see another little detail you've done. It's getting more cooler by the day. It still needs a bar system at the back. But very subtle not too fancy. Anyhoo I'll see you in the next video. ✌️Peace from somewhere in my shop.
Hey Kevin! There are a lot of little details on this build. I’ll probably do an overview video later down the road and really show everything out together. I agree and it will get a rear bumper system soon, just waiting on a few things to clear up first.
You can never have enough jibber jabber. Looks good, and it’s different than the same old same old(just like the rest of the build)! I’d love to see your plans and watch you build out a rear bumper/engine cage.
I try to find a way to balance the taking and work, explain what’s going on or my thoughts without wasting anyone’s time taking too much. The rear bumper system and hopefully a custom roof rack are on the short list, just have other things going on at the moment.
Nice work and it fits the theme. 👍👍👍 It should rev to the moon but probably make less overall top end power than jawbreaker since # 4 is so short and the collected is now gone. But it does make a handsome compact package. I ounce took my tub buggy with straight exhaust to autozone parts store and talked them into letting me try on mufflers with engine running until I found the one I wanted 😅😅😅 We get exhaust condensation here and I often thought about making a 3/16 hole in the bottom to let the water out. Never did it but don’t drive much in the winter. Keep up the great work Gary👍
Thank you Greg! I’m not concerned about top end power really, this engine makes plenty of power. If I lose a few, I doubt I’ll notice it. Didn’t think about trying on mufflers or even asking them but I knew worse case this muffler would do the trick. Believe it or not we get exhaust condensation here as well. Haven’t had an issue with it before but then again this muffler is in a different orientation so that’s something to think about. Appreciate ya as always!!
Looks great. My dad's Baja race bug before we went full race he would take the Stinger off and mount a turbo muffler in the same position is yours, but with a different flange so it bolted on and off.😃
This is absolutely fantastic; I don’t think even a muffler shop would’ve done such a nice job. The decibel meter shows not too much difference in terms of numbers but maybe it is cancelling out some frequencies that make you perceive it louder.
Thanks buddy, I appreciate that. I’m with you there, the decibel meter was a good idea but not executed well enough. Let’s just say, fire up the engine and let it idle and go in the house. Now with the muffler on, you can’t hardly hear it run when I’m the house. There is a big difference
Thanks for sharing. I have the same exhaust going on my dune buggy build. Planning to do the same as what you did, but with a large titanium motorcycle muffler that I picked up many years ago. Hoping it looks and sounds good once I get it on.
Hopefully it have you some ideas. I have an old sport bike muffler but I didn’t like the tone of it for this engine.. then again o think it was a stock one so that’s probably why. Definitely a great idea and compact of you find the right one.
looks and sounds great... only thing I would have done different is I would have set the muffler up a bit higher to improve departure angle... Unless you are an off roader, it will be fine as is...
Thanks, I appreciate that. Believe it or not, the bottom of the muffler is higher than the exhaust tubes and just a tad higher than the case itself. Should be plenty of clearance.
i like the cell phone sound meter app. very nice! i think i saw a vibration meter app once. i've thought about using the vibration meter for fine tuning of the idle.
Thrush Turbo is actually one of the best flowing mufflers out there as well as being reasonably quiet. Good choice and looks/sounds great! WORD OF CAUTION: If you live in a humid environment, heat wrap will rot your exhaust tube real quick (as I discovered) so I wouldn't recommend it unless you use stainless tube.
Nope, didn’t know that lol I searched like crazy to find some kind of image but didn’t find anything related to this at all. Ended up whipping this up in my mind at work.
Looks great tone is awsome n should be much more enjoyable at cruising speed...I just got a vs exhaust for the orange type 4....in ur history should we retune carbs after changing exhaust?? Guessing this was last weekend how it run didvu have to touch carbs
i have the stinger pointing straight back so its now as loud at higher speeds. anything going off to the side for some reason you hear it more. or even pointing straight up to the sky is loud
The older I get the quieter I like my cars.
I think you’re onto something there.
Nice job, can't wait to hear it in person.
Thank you sir. You should swing by sometime.
Nice design Gary. Looks better than store-bought!👍
Thanks buddy!
Hope all is well on your end. Been thinking about you lately.

Turned out very nice Gary (J.B.)... See you next video..
Appreciate it!
Again art meets function!
It’s definitely functional!
Nice... thats the way to save those ears!
Oh definitely, I could t believe how loud this header was.

That’s very kind, thank you.
WHATS CRACKA LACKIN GARY !! LOOKS AWESOME MAN !
Thanks man!
Nice work Gary, those thrush turbo mufflers are great and cheap ive put them on a few different rigs
I really like the welded muffler sound better but it is what it is. The turbo mufflers are a very good choice.

Thank you Tommie!
Very cool Gary! Keep up the great work!
Than you sir.
Nice job, Flip flop Gary!
Thank you I appreciate that.
Hell yes, that flare tool is killer, just ordered a kit :) Love the placement!!
Thanks buddy!
I like it. Looks like your welding has improved 👌 👏
Appreciate it 🤙
Great job as always. Perfectly imperfect

Looks awesome Gary thanks for sharing.

Looks good. 👍

I’ll be doing mine soon too! LOL

Awesome looking muffler, do want to come here and sort mine out lol

Looks good and sounds good! I like that exhaust set up alot
Thanks man!
Hi Garry, Nice upgrade exhaust🛠 sounds great👍🏻, have a nice ride with the new exhaust music🤙🇺🇸.Greetings.Hubertus cheers mate.🍀👍🏻🛠🙏🏻🇳🇱🇳🇴☮
Thank you Hubertus!
That is pretty good. I wonder how it sounds on the road.
It sounds pretty decent on the road, not too loud or quiet.
It sounds and looks great !!!
Thanks!
i like the cell phone sound meter app. very nice! i think i saw a vibration meter app once. i've thought about using the vibration meter for fine tuning of the idle.
That’s a cool idea, I’ll have to look for that app also.
Man it looks and sounds Awesome!!
Thanks!
Very nice 👍
Thanks! 🤙
Nice..🤙 shame we didn’t get a quick spin round the block though
Thought about that after I edited it.

They are a great muffler especially for the price.
That’s a valid point about the heat wrap…. I’ll have to figure something out then.
Look's Great
Thank you 🙏
The older we get, the bigger muffler we need. 😂
Haha, so true!!
you know bugpack offered that back in the 80's as a bolt on muffler
Nope, didn’t know that lol
I searched like crazy to find some kind of image but didn’t find anything related to this at all. Ended up whipping this up in my mind at work.
🤔 a nice lazer vw Badge on the muffler
That is a great idea.
What no secret words at the end of the video!? Lol
Dang it, I’m slipping 😂

The VS exhaust are very nice units.
You shouldn’t have to touch the carbs unless you notice it running differently.
i have the stinger pointing straight back so its now as loud at higher speeds. anything going off to the side for some reason you hear it more. or even pointing straight up to the sky is loud
Exhausting Video.
You hit that on the head.
Love the muffler install. Are you going to run a cage around the back of your motor? I think that would look pretty sweet.
Thanks man.
I do have a cage to run in the back but it needs to be modified. I’ll get to it sooner or later lol
@@VWJawbreaker I think that’ll make it look that much sweeter, but I know everything comes in time your project is coming along really nicely
@@THEREEFREPORT thanks!!
I am doing very similar mod on my Manx only with a catalyst. 😮. Here in Nevada if I want plates it has to pass smog

Appreciate that sir.
I’ve seen them before, just haven’t had time to catch up on the vids.
👏👏👏
Turned out pretty well. Now I just hope it fits behind the rear bumper 😳
😎👍

I think it wouldn't be better if that hanger wire was not resting on the pipes.
True but it gives more support that way.
